Hi guys,
I've finally got my first app to a standard I'm 'happy' with so wanted to share it with you all to get some feedback and suggestions for improvements. (It is actually my second app but we don't like to mention the first one!)
My app is inspired by the old Logo programming language (and a weird desire to draw crazy patterns!). I couldn't find an easy to use app on the market so tried making my own.
Am enjoying building apps so far! Couldn't have done any of it without the huge support on the net!
Hope you like it and I welcome your opinions.
Search in market for "Turtle Graphics". It's free of course (but it does have ads to help the beer fund!)
Thanks guys!

Hahaha, really? I'll have to install this, it'll be.... about 23 years since I last used this.
Awesome DarkGadgeteer! I can't wait to try this out too as it has been 27 years since I last touched logo. I hate getting older by the way.
Just installing. Will try out later when I'm done with regular boring Java work.
No way...
I can't believe I would ever see this again..
Awesome!
Mint! Will seek and install
Needs a save function for the resulting image!
Yeah!!!
Old school!!!!
Nice work! Didn't think anyone would ever bring this back
This was like one of the first things that made me get so interested in computers.
Dear lord, I used to do this in primary school. I had not expected to ever see this again. :')
Thanks very much for all the feedback guys, it's very encouraging.
Really sorry for making some of you feel old, if its any consolation it did it to me too!
Have taken note of the improvement suggestions and will get on with them, just may take a while as I have to fit it in-between my wedding preparation! Can't afford to upset the missus too much! ;-)
Please keep the feedback coming!
Thanks again!

If only we had a turtle with the pen nib attached and bluetooth installed!!
this is so awesomely old school, great work!
i think simple variable handling would be great, to use something like LEFT 2*x
I was thinking about the variables. What would your suggestion be on what increases the value of x? Number of repeats or just each instruction?

[App][Update] Turtle Graphics
Hi guys,
Found a few minutes (read hours!) and added a simple variable into the commands to create even more pattern craziness. Please try it out and let me know what you think!
Turtle Graphics now at 2.6 in the Market
Thanks again for all the encouragement and good ideas!
(I'm really liking the idea of a bluetooth turtle! Anyone got a spare Lego Mindstorms? )

Super awesome, this totally rocks!
Ok, so I'm thinking about buying the new Transformer Prime.. It looks great and with the keyboard docking, I see a lot of potensial. I've been searching the market up and down for code-editors specially for tablets, I've seen some, but they all look none-userfriendly. So here is an mockup for an simple, yet powerfull editor that I think would be popular for developers like me.
Anyone?
looks cool
Thanks shockem!
Now, any android-developers out there who could take the task of making this? I can help in many ways, but not that much in the coding since I'm a web developer.
I think that people might pay anything from 0 to 40 USD for a editor that looks great, works great and is easy to use.. Just look what Coda did for mac users..
Edit: I see that I forgot to add tabs for files that are open, I'll add that after work
I'd Love to help however I need alot more experience. I want to release a ics rom for the nexus s after ota for ns is out however Times running short and school holidays are ending. Wish you luck in getting this into reality!

Hey everyone,
Tonight I used my phone upgrade and upgraded to the Atrix HD. It's been nice knowing all of you guys here in the forums, and I'm certainly going to miss you. (the ones I like anyway.... )
Big thanks to the developers in this community for putting in so much hard work for this phone. You have been wonderful to all of us. :good:
Cheers mate, best of luck to you!

Gutsy is how I roll. Plus the Atrix HD really competes with the high end devices since it has the same Snapdragon S4 as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X. Ran a Quadrant benchmark test and pulled a 4,750 without any real customizations yet. Also, this display...truly gorgeous, one to behold!

Really? Was that needed?
I'ts a classic "pun". I don't think it needs to be taken out of context.
So let's not start something, that isn't there to begin with

While you're still in return time look at the Sony Xperia Ion. Screen and camera makes Note, OneX etc look like a joke!

I'll pretend that was just a joke.
In all seriousness though, I have nothing against anyone and am more than happy to still help you guys out here with any questions/problems you might have. Feel free to shoot me a PM whenever.
You're leaving us just as I have updated the OP of my guide thread for n00bs! I was going to include you in the directory of Senior Members for the A2 forums, but now you're boating on us...
Anyhow, good luck with the new phone, I hope everything works out for you, and that you really enjoy it!

Apex,
You're more than welcome to add my name to the list anyway in case anyone has questions/problems. I may not have the phone anymore, but I would still be more than happy to help out in any way that I can.

Okay, I'll put you on the directory. I may have to "tiny url" up some links, as I'm pushing the 30,000 character limit on this one!
Torn between hijacking a thread and cluttering up the main page with a new one - chose the hijack. I'm so sorry, MagicXB!
I also am leaving, after such a short time here! Speaking of the Xperia ion, that's the one I am going with. AT&T finally got tired of throwing A2's my way to fix my reception problems and gave me a free warranty upgrade. I chose the ion for a lot of reasons, and I think I'll be happy with it.
I got really into following the community here and have been excited to follow the projects that are ongoing. The dev community here is excellent, and I'm convinced good things will be around for this phone for awhile. Unfortunately, with AT&T getting rid of support for this phone, I feel like you'll see people like me dropping off - they won't have any more A2's to give out!
Thank you all for your help and time.

Going with the Xperia Ion seems to be quite risky to me. The hardware itself looks quite beautiful but it launched with Gingerbread onboard, and in this day and age of countless phones coming out I would be worried about it even seeing ICS (much less anything after that).
To be honest, I obsessed over this decision for awhile. The One X was my main competitor, but I don't like not having expandable storage, and I've had really bad experiences with HTC phones before. The Atrix HD is pretty, but it just didn't feel right to me. And the Galaxy S3 looks like a cheap piece of plastic from my childhood and I hate the Samsung UI (not to mention the off chance that Apple manages to run Samsung into the ground).
ICS is great, but it's not everything. Sony has been really good about updating older phones to ICS and I have no doubt this one will get it soon enough. And if it doesn't, the Sony UI incorporates some of the more important elements of ICS already. I think it's a really nice phone, well made and I'm hoping I'll enjoy it. That said, I'm sure there are more than enough people here who think I'm insane, lol .
Hello everyone!
New here, been looking around, reading different things, and don't understand half of all of it. lol, sorry. I'm not familiar with all the different rooting, techniological specs of it. But I do know that this tablet is supposed to be the best on the market. I have a neighbor who is big into android and told me a lot and rooted my Gnex and I fell in love. Had an iPhone, but no where near what I could do with android.
I'm just trying to get a feel for it, and wondering what I can do to make it better, any apps or games that I need?
I got it from Best Buy, and wasn't sure how the return policy works. I know it's like 30 days, but how many exchanges?
There is a little bit of light bleed, but as far as I know, that is all that is wrong. No cracks, no wireless problems, etc.
Anything I need to look for to know if I should return it?
Jelly Bean is coming soon and I'm excited. Project butter is definitely nice.
I want to thank you all in advance for all your help. From what I've read on here, and all over the forums, you guys know your stuff.
I you pan to return it I'd perform a factory reset on it prior to returning it so no personal information is on the tablet.

Welcome on-board!
I'm new myself (relatively) I was never really fascinated with android beyond sharing my wife's Acer tablet.
I didn't want to mess her's up so I bought an Infinity for me.
Joining this board has really made an android junkie out of me.
The knowledge and questions brought from every corner of thought here are just unending.
I always know the answer is here somewhere.
Here's to hoping you'll have great luck with the Asus...

I've been loving my tablet so far... wondering if I should root now, or wait until the Jelly Bean update? But as you've said, this forum has made me an Android junkie.
I had to show my support by purchasing their app a couple years ago. Hopefully one day I can contribute a little more to the forums, but for now I'll just read and follow instructions until I learn a little more about developing

Honestly I'd just wait for Jelly Bean, it's only a few days away. That said, i don't think just rooting will stop the OTA (from what I've read).

Hey guys! I just wanted you all to know that I have finally moved away from the Thunderbolt.
I wish you all the best of luck with the development! Thank you to all of the developers who still carry on development for the device. Without you guys, I would have left the bolt over a year ago... but you guys kept it cool and worth staying with.
Also thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way.
I recently moved and the Thunderbolt no longer maintains even WiFi for some reason... so I was forced to move away from it.
Again, thank you all for everything!
Have fun with your new device.

Enjoy your new toy. :good:
See you around
Sad to see you go bud, was fun having you around, and a few of your posts really cracked me up (see dickmode). Enjoy your new device!
Haha! Yeah, we had some good times on here for sure!
Thanks for all the memories and help from all of you!
I'll still pop in every now and then I'm sure. Hope to cross roads again with you guys later on!
Take care everyone!
Well, I also left the ranks. My family has been pressuring me to get them their first smartphones, and by the time we were through at the cell phone store, I had one too. While I really was hoping to get the next great phone (eg, a Nexus 4x with replaceable battery, SD card, and LTE), we all went with what I think is still the best combination of size, speed, and features (replaceable battery, memory) while also having a community for future, um, er, rooting fun. The Samsung Galaxy SIII. I was tempted by the Note 2 but the thing is just too big; the S3 almost seemed too big, but it is also nice and thin.
Anyway, I will miss the Thunderbolt. I was really fortunate with my ROM choices (SOAB, Thundershed, and Santod's ICS Eternity). SOAB was a good entry to rooting, Tshed was bulletproof, and Eternity was fast, smooth and awesome in features and performance. But most of all I will miss the awesome developers who contributed to their talents and time to make the Thunderbolt better that what HTC and Verizon could ever do. And the great community here and on other bulletin boards. People like QuickDraw, who has always been quick with the advice or support.
I have some Thunderbolt accessories free for the asking. A Rezound battery. A slightly broken Platinum holster case in black (one small piece of the case broke off but it doesn't seem to effect the use at all and you wouldn't even see it if you didn't look) and a virtually unused PowerSkin case. Let me know if you want em and I will ship them to you. At some point I may even give up the Thunderbolt itself.
Thanks again everyone...
