I'll Miss You Guys!! - Thunderbolt General

Hey guys! I just wanted you all to know that I have finally moved away from the Thunderbolt.
I wish you all the best of luck with the development! Thank you to all of the developers who still carry on development for the device. Without you guys, I would have left the bolt over a year ago... but you guys kept it cool and worth staying with.
Also thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way.
I recently moved and the Thunderbolt no longer maintains even WiFi for some reason... so I was forced to move away from it.
Again, thank you all for everything!

Have fun with your new device.

Take care bud, was always a pleasure having you around!
Enjoy your new toy. :good:

See you around

Sad to see you go bud, was fun having you around, and a few of your posts really cracked me up (see dickmode). Enjoy your new device!

Haha! Yeah, we had some good times on here for sure!
Thanks for all the memories and help from all of you!
I'll still pop in every now and then I'm sure. Hope to cross roads again with you guys later on!
Take care everyone!

Well, I also left the ranks. My family has been pressuring me to get them their first smartphones, and by the time we were through at the cell phone store, I had one too. While I really was hoping to get the next great phone (eg, a Nexus 4x with replaceable battery, SD card, and LTE), we all went with what I think is still the best combination of size, speed, and features (replaceable battery, memory) while also having a community for future, um, er, rooting fun. The Samsung Galaxy SIII. I was tempted by the Note 2 but the thing is just too big; the S3 almost seemed too big, but it is also nice and thin.
Anyway, I will miss the Thunderbolt. I was really fortunate with my ROM choices (SOAB, Thundershed, and Santod's ICS Eternity). SOAB was a good entry to rooting, Tshed was bulletproof, and Eternity was fast, smooth and awesome in features and performance. But most of all I will miss the awesome developers who contributed to their talents and time to make the Thunderbolt better that what HTC and Verizon could ever do. And the great community here and on other bulletin boards. People like QuickDraw, who has always been quick with the advice or support.
I have some Thunderbolt accessories free for the asking. A Rezound battery. A slightly broken Platinum holster case in black (one small piece of the case broke off but it doesn't seem to effect the use at all and you wouldn't even see it if you didn't look) and a virtually unused PowerSkin case. Let me know if you want em and I will ship them to you. At some point I may even give up the Thunderbolt itself.
Thanks again everyone...

Ooh! Which device are you on now? I hope you'll come visit us Bolters every so often. Perhaps we should make an Off Topic Bolt thread hahaha. Anyway, I hope it works out for you! I'm still new to Xda, but I'll miss you! Hahaha

[Thanks]Are we (Cappy users) spoiled?

This is more of a way to say thanks to all the Dev's and users who populate this forum. If you really compare to the various sub-sections (phones) you really just are underwhelmed by a lack of ROM's. And the Captivate development section is full of great quality ROM's. You almost have an overload of ROM's to flash, so many good ones. And also the great i9000 dev's. They did a ton of work to help get us some great ROM's
Here is just a thanks. Keep up the good work
Say thanks to your dev's in the thread below
i agree. definately not good for anyone with a flashing addiction . lol i'm downloading two new roms as i type. thanks dev team for finishing what att/samsung didnt.
agreed
awesome work, Devs
Part of the thanks goes to Samsung for making it easy
That's also why I'll never buy HTC or Motorola as long as they're in the habit of locking bootloaders.
I was considering one of the newer devices but the development sections are non existent. Yes were are spoiled, I agree, thanks to our devs.
MIUI
Necessity breeds invention.
I feel sorry for the people who use stock phones and think that's as good as it gets. Those poor, clueless people.
Thank you, XDA.
Try going to the forums of most other AT&T Android phones, such as the Motorola Bravo, and you'll be shocked that almost 6 months after release, they don't have a single custom ROM, and rooting is still a pain for them!
As for us, we have a ton of amazing devs cranking out awesome ROMs, lagfixes, kernels, themes, etc., so I could never imagine going back to stock again
Mucho Gracias Devs
+100000 to what has been said already. I've learned and gained so much from this forum. I have a real love affair with my cappy! I'm up for an upgrade as we speak, but I can' t imagine a better phone. This is thanks to XDA and the awesomely talented hard working devs on this this forum. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
*Now if I can only get the stupendous battery life others have mentioned, I'd be in heaven*

Agree wholeheartedly!! I would never go back to stock, and I am supremely thankful to all of the devs and users out there that have provided custom roms, kernels, and all of the other goodies available. The biggest thing I am thankful for, though, is all of the information the users and devs provide. I have learned so much about my cappy, and android in general, from this forum. IMHO, the best way to show thanks is to keep up the spirit of sharing, and provide your own insight anywhere it may be useful. I am always happy to help anyone out, as long as it is a question I know something about. Again, a big thanks to all of the devs, and to all of the users!!

I can definitely say that the Captivate Development is one of the best on XDA.
My brother is looking for a new device to upgrade to, he keeps comparing everything to my Captivate. He still hasn't found anything that he would rather have over the Captivate, mostly because of the support available on XDA.

Love the captivate, but it wouldn't be anything withput the captivate android development section
I am so surprised every time I try to check on ROMs for other phones.
I am scared about leaving the captivate, I don't want to be stuck on stock. I was going to go to atrix next, that isn't looking good. Hopefully the SGS II is as easy to dev as the captivate, and hopefully its out soon.
We are so very spoiled. The hardest thing about flashing a ROM for a captivate is choosing which one.
Thanks to all the great devs that make this possible.

One thing that I think is crazy is that the necessity for a lagfix created something unexpected and amazing in the Voodoo Project (ext4 optimizations, sound, and color), mad props to Supercurio. Not trying to single any dev out, y'all are great and continue to produce amazing ROM's.
I'm glad my phone didn't work as promised right out of the box. I feel sorry for anyone that decided to move on to another phone for that reason. The developers in this section are awesome there are easily 15 solid roms and 10 different kernels to choose from. Sometimes navigating the choices can give a guy a head ache, but Thanks to all the hard working devs in the captivate XDA it's almost impossible to make a bad choice. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I agree with everyone. I bought my SGH-I897 because a friend bought one for his wife and she loved it (even with stock ROM) and got it free on Black Friday. I came from iPhone original to this and was only marginally satisfied... until the custom ROM I installed a few days ago. Wow, what a difference. The hardware that promised so much is now free to work as it should. Better battery life, smoother performance, more options, more access.
Like others, I feel sorry for those who at one time held this device in their hands then gave it up because of terrible software.
Thanks to all those who take the time to develop, update, write guides, share findings, take risks... for the benefit of fellow Captivate owners. Thanks.
100% agreed.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all developers here in XDA. I officially salute to all of them. They help us without asking payback. I definitely think donation is my way to show how I appreciate their work, time and their unselfishness of sharing.
And also want to thank all memebers here on XDA. They are extremely helpful as well.
Being winmo rom flasher/users for 5 years. As android is totally new to me. After been reading lots of lots of topics, I just recently had guts to flash a custom android rom. And all I can say is wow. Didn't expected a big different like that.
Again, thanks all ppl here in XDA. I know I'm spoiled, and protected too, as long as I am a member of XDA community.

Completely agree! Imagine if we were all still on stock firmware with RFS and no mods... Definitely wouldn't be the high end phone it is now. Thanks Devs!

To whom it may concern....

As some of you may have noticed, I have been very inactive in the Android world over the past month or so. I wanted to take the opportunity to let everyone know what is going on.
My wife is 8 months pregnant, and starting about a month ago she has been having some issues. Nothing too serious, but it means we have to go to the doctor several times a week to make sure she and the baby are not getting worse. She is also not supposed to leave the house if possible. As much as I enjoy the playing around I do with Blackhole, my family has to come first.
The Baby could be born any time now, and I simply don't have the time to devote to Android like I used to. I will admit that what little free time I have left now goes to extra sleep (cause I know I won't be getting any for a while after the baby is born). Lets face it, I'm no Adrynalyn or Jcase. For me Android has always been a hobby, and I do what I do mostly for myself, but just decided to share it.
I do plan on getting back into things once my life has settled down a bit, and if something major happens (Official GB upgrade anyone?) I'll try to make the time to release an update, but don't expect anything from me for a while.
I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me with kind words, donations, suggestions, testing, bug reports, etc. over the past 9 months or so since I started developing on the Fascinate, and I want you all to know how much I appreciate you.

Hope everything goes well for the rest of the pregnancy. That's is absolutely your first priority. The things will settle down a couple of months after your little one is here.
Good luck as you await the birth. I'll keep you and your family in prayer. Our first born turned 15 months this week and they really are time consuming, but so worth it.
It's good to see you have your priorities set.

All the best & best of luck with the wife and child.... Thank you
Thank you so much sonofskywalker3 for all the hard work and contributions you have brought to the TB community. Best wishes and congrats to you and your family as well.
Really? If this is a mature audience, I'd hate to see an immature one.
Nothing against you and I hope everything with your wife goes ok, but a lot of devs for android are not even out if high school.

True enough, and we certainly have our share of drama queens, but overall I think the user base for Android, and especially those active in the Modding community, are much more understanding when it comes to the important things. Sure we've got people who will pitch a fit if things don't go their way, but I've seen nothing but support when I'm letting everyone know that I'm taking a major break. No "But wherez my r0mz dud3!!", just well wishes and genuine concern.

Thanks for all your work and I hope all goes well with you and your family. As a father of a 14 month old myself, it's good if you are already acclimated to getting little sleep. Who'd a thunk that developing would be good training for fatherhood!

That's cool. Take care of your family. Seems like there is quite the dev family here on the thunderbolt so I'm sure there will be plenty to play with in your absence.
Despite Miketoasty's distasteful example to the contrary, I still believe the Android community is generally mature...

Well sadly I needed some cash pretty bad and had to sell my Skyrocket, I'll miss the phone a lot. Easily was the best phone I've used period. Hope to be back soon maybe with the Sky HD. Gutsy is how I roll. Plus the Atrix HD really competes with the high end devices since it has the same Snapdragon S4 as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X. Ran a Quadrant benchmark test and pulled a 4,750 without any real customizations yet. Also, this display...truly gorgeous, one to behold!

Okay, I'll put you on the directory. I may have to "tiny url" up some links, as I'm pushing the 30,000 character limit on this one!
Torn between hijacking a thread and cluttering up the main page with a new one - chose the hijack. I'm so sorry, MagicXB!
I also am leaving, after such a short time here! Speaking of the Xperia ion, that's the one I am going with. AT&T finally got tired of throwing A2's my way to fix my reception problems and gave me a free warranty upgrade. I chose the ion for a lot of reasons, and I think I'll be happy with it.
I got really into following the community here and have been excited to follow the projects that are ongoing. The dev community here is excellent, and I'm convinced good things will be around for this phone for awhile. Unfortunately, with AT&T getting rid of support for this phone, I feel like you'll see people like me dropping off - they won't have any more A2's to give out!
Thank you all for your help and time.

Going with the Xperia Ion seems to be quite risky to me. The hardware itself looks quite beautiful but it launched with Gingerbread onboard, and in this day and age of countless phones coming out I would be worried about it even seeing ICS (much less anything after that).
To be honest, I obsessed over this decision for awhile. The One X was my main competitor, but I don't like not having expandable storage, and I've had really bad experiences with HTC phones before. The Atrix HD is pretty, but it just didn't feel right to me. And the Galaxy S3 looks like a cheap piece of plastic from my childhood and I hate the Samsung UI (not to mention the off chance that Apple manages to run Samsung into the ground).
ICS is great, but it's not everything. Sony has been really good about updating older phones to ICS and I have no doubt this one will get it soon enough. And if it doesn't, the Sony UI incorporates some of the more important elements of ICS already. I think it's a really nice phone, well made and I'm hoping I'll enjoy it. That said, I'm sure there are more than enough people here who think I'm insane, lol .

It's Been A Good Run

Guys, I know I didn't post too much (mostly lurked) but when I did people were helpful and I realized that this was a great community. Sadly, my Inspire died this week and I have moved on to a GS3. So thanks to everyone who was patient with my question or helped me out! It's sad to leave, but I know you guys will keep on making the Inspire a great phone.
See you guys (and gals) around.
