anyone have a zip of the radio to post?
No, but I'm sure they will when they have time to get to it.
See this thread (by seanzscreams) or this one (by Team WaffleHouse).
Read the threads for any reported issues.
It’s still up in the air.
Neither available.
One dead link, one bad. Anyone have a working copy of this?

I keep seeing on this and other forums that noobs are unsure about how to flash radio versions. They also don't know about the double reboot, and think they bricked their phone when it loads the radio. I am posting this thread to answer those questions, hoping that it will stop a lot of the same question over and over again in the other threads.
1. To flash your radio, rename the file to update.zip, or just update if your computer doesn't show file extensions.
2. Put the file onto the root of your SD card. (If you have a different update.zip on there, you will have to remove or overwrite the old update.zip).
3. Boot into recovery and hit alt S
4. Reboot your phone. It will reboot twice. The first time, you will see the recovery page for a split second, then you will see a strange screen. The screen will stay on for a minute or two while it writes the radio image, so don't freak out, then your phone will reboot normally.
5. You can upgrade the radio either after, or before you flash the firmware, it doesn't matter which you do first.
6. Yes, if you are going to a completely new firmware version, for example, 1.0 - 1.1 - 1.5, you will have to change your radio to the compatible version, or you will have problems. The same is true for downgrading. You will probably have to downgrade your radio if going back to an older version of firmware.
7. No, you don't have to change radio versions if staying on the same version, example RC33 1.1 to ADP 1.1, or 1.5 H to 1.5 G.
Those are the only questions I can think of at the moment. If i screwed something up, or forgot to add something, let me know!
Looks like this is good info (Was unsure myself, so this helps), not sure why no one else would say thanks.
Thanks .
Thanks for leting me know it helped! It quickly disappeared into the depths of unanswered threads, so I figured nobody would ever see it.
thanks
This helped me also, thanks for breaking it down so well.

Since you will only be flashing the radio when you flash the rom, you should use the radio specified on the page where you got your rom.
Since there are so many versions of Android out now, and they only work correctly with the radio which was built for that version, I didn't want to post links and have people downloading the wrong version, then wondering why they have so many problems.
do i hear music with his radio update?

Rephrase that...?
No, no music. The radio update has something to do with connecting to a signal. (I'm not really up on all of this technology, so I can't give you a more detailed explanation). I do know that many times, if you have the wrong radio version, you won't be able to stay connected though.
Does anyone have a link to just the update zip radio for XXXKB1. I flashed XB3 and didn't see much difference, maybe even slightly worse reception. I foolishly didn't make a backup prior to flashing the XB3 radio only becasue I thought the link for the XB1 radio on the same page would work. It didn't. File is corrupt. I have searched all over these forums for a good link to the download. Downloaded numerious times at different links. No good file.
I would like to avoid reflashing a stock ROM just to get XB1 back.
Thanks in advance.
Im pretty sure the thread is still open.. but here is a CWM flashable..

Awesome thanks. Yeah I know the thread is open, but my non-existant posting count prevents me from posting there.
I appreciate the help.
hi,
i need some help,i wouldn't ask for,if trying myself, searching the web/forum/thread,and even reading any ****in manual concerning simular problems would have brought me more close to a solution.
my systemconf.is: hboot 6.98...,radio 20.4801,s-off revolutianary.
my problem is,that i am not able to boot flashed ics roms containing a virtous/quattro related desireS-kernel.
all the cm9/icecoldsandwich variants don't make any problem.
i know, this is a stupidnoobish-question, but are u doing something not obvious(or even obvious-but obviously not for me[surley not talkin bout wiping, clearing and all that standard-procedure]), or somehow special in order to get this stuff working. i wouldn't ask,but i didn't found no answer anywhere or even simular reports by other user (apart from one small[so small I even couldn't find it again to link to] entry concerning this issue in the thread for the aosp ics custom rom by team virtous, but without a solution)
i'd thankful for every advice, solution or idea to join the sense4.0party.
greetz, alex

yes, that was one of them, behaving as described.i even wasn't able to boot the freshly flashed
blackout rom with sense3.6 and shipping mdeejay/virtous-based kernel as well as the virtous quattro ics roms that is also not booting in no case.
am i the only one suffering from that?
oh,oh...i begin loosin all hope to find anyone, who knows my problem, and by far not who is able to help me out.
i think, it is related to the fact, that the several charges of manufactured desire s' have different security-whatevers that prevent a to wilderly oc'ed & uv'ed cpu. so if the bootloader detects not 'allowed' scaling range, it simply not boots. i constructed this suspicion from very few snippets of information i could find about this issue.
am i the only one suffering from that?
just post that u are there even without a solution!
let us try together.
may be, we are able(i think we should, äh?) to modify the existing kernel files or skripts that are responsable for that.
may the force lead as into sense-on-ics_goodness
greets, alex
I'm there
I can't get past any splashscreen for customROMs. Tried Virtuous and also different versions of CoinDroid. None work. When I go back to stock, not a problem.
Did you find a solution in the meantime perhaps?

I assume you are htcdev unlocked, and forgot to flash the boot.img separately from fastboot..? If so, Google it. The solution is really easy. You just need to extract boot.img from the ROM zip and flash it using fastboot command
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Sent from an HTC device soon to be replaced by a Samsung. Suck on that HTC.
enigmaamit is probably wrong because you mentioned you are s-off via revolutionary tool.
my sugestion is to instal the ENG HBOOT from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236890 you need to follow the instructions from chapter 1 in the first post of the thread (the one for 6.xx.xxxx hboot version)
to my understanding the post 2.3.5 sense 3.0 roms require the hboot i have mantioned above
good luck and hope this fixes your issue
The posts for new radio's for the 3g version of the nexus S all seem to be dead can someone please upload and link some new radios or even just let me know a good rom that comes with a solid radio because this new nexus S i aquired seems to need a new radio flashed to it.
EDIT: there was a suggestion to flash an old version of android from the 2.3.6 "OTA" bla bla whatever that means. basically this link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445621 is full of dead links but looks like it was the most extensive and comprehensive solution for bad radio flashes. but anyways I'm starting to think that this site here needs to start hosting .torrents of all of these files because im running into dead links everywhere its painful.
Either way I need a copy of an working radio still and no progress has been made I have a second nexus S for which I may just simply make a nandroid or w/e backup from recovery and than transfer it over to the new broken device.

Thanks that post is much better. I dont even know how I didnt manage to find it over the one i did. I applied the radio and did everything I needed to directly from the Clockwork Recovery.
So I've done quite a bit of searching and reading but I feel like I still need help. I used to have good to decent service. Several months ago I rooted my phone and noticed a decrease in service. Trouble sending texts, trouble making calls, many times not receiving calls at all and just getting voicemails. 2 days ago I went ahead and flashed the latest American revolution hd rom. I'm not running the recommended radio. I can't remember how to find the current radio I'm running but I believe it may be one if att's latest. My main questions are, will a new radio solve these problems? And I'd there another way to flash a radio besides being hooked up to a computer. The USB write I have doors not allow my phone to sync or enter debugging mode.
Thanks in advance
Before this gets closed there are 100s of threads just like this friend all the same ? That your asking but....
Radios and Rils will be a trail and error kind of method it also depends where you live etc.. for me if I ever had to flash a radio or ril in the sticky of the dev part of this thread for the inspires tells you how to flash them.
But when you flash a Rom you rarely need to flash the radio or its ril

Thanks for your reply. I figured and knew based off reading that radios are trail and error. Just wondering if my "symptoms" are typical of having the wrong radio.
Also is it possibly to place the radio.zip file onto my sd then install it through bootloader? Or must I be connected to my computer, which seems like what every how to says, to flash?

You can flash a radio without a computer but it has to be in a pd98img zip format. There out there just search. There is a thread in development dedicated to radios.

Yes in the inspire thread for radios it tells you how.. also just read a few pages to last of the forum it self to see what others are saying. So over all yes you would download the radio file and its a PD98IMG just like that NO dot at the end of the file IE PD98IMG.zip it has to be PD98IMG so then just add to the root of the sd card boot to hboot it will read and apply update the with ril just boot to recovery mode mount system then flash ril zip ...
And for me thanks button and also hit the thanks for the other member too
