[CWM][APP] AROMA Filemanager by amarullz - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

I found this just now and thought I need to share it. This app is kinda young, but can be really useful.
You need to do some tasks in your phones file system, let's say if you have just bricked it and need to copy some files to your external sd as backup before you just kill everything and reflash the ROM. You can use this!
You want to flash a zip file, have a current backup but since than copied one file into your system that's not in the backup and you only have it on your computer at home? Use this and create a backup only this instead of everything again!
What I am talkin about is AROMA Filemanager: The first filemanager you can use without booting up android. This app is opened by "flashing" this like you would install a ROM. If you have used Vurrut ROM with AROMA Installer you know how it works. After start you have a full filemanager within your Clockworkmod Recovery system.
I have not tried it yet, I will do that tommorow, but I am that excited that I had to share it now.

Works fine, excellent

I tried it now. So far I can say it works. The only problem was the touchscreen on calibrating. I had to activate alternative touch and move the finger a bit when touching the given points. If you fail callibrating you can access the settings with the hardware buttons and redo it.

[ROM] DI14 Pick-n-Pack 0.2 ROM

DI14_pick-n-pack_0.2 ROM for the Samsung Mesmerize
I have reworked this ROM to make it a little easier to work with. In the 0.2 version, you will be able to flash the main package without any need to add files like in the 0.1 version. As for the removed apk files, they are now flashable either individually or in packs depending on what they are. I felt this would be an easier way to still get what you want but not having to put things together before flashing.
I still recommend that you take a backup before you flash anything. I am not responsible for any damage you do to your phone while flashing any or all parts of this ROM. I also recommend that you download both the ROM and Addons at the same time so that you do not have to wait for a second download after you have already flashed the ROM.
Also, to be clear since there has been confusion, MMS is 100% functional in this ROM because it uses stock MMS, not AOSP.
*****This ROM contains these apps:
ADW Launcher
Browser
Camera
Clock
Contacts
Gallery
Gmail
GTalk
Latitude
Maps
Market
MMS
Music Player
My Files
Navigation
Phone
Places
Quick Boot
ROM Manager
Settings
Superuser
Task Manager
Titanium Backup
Video Player
Voice Search
*****Files in the Addon Packs
AllShare
BuddiesNow
Car Cradle
Daily Briefing
Days
Desk Cradle
Dual Clock
Email and Yahoo EMail Pack
Facebook
Galaxy Help
Live Wallpaper Pack
Memo
Mini Diary
My Contacts Backup
MySpace
Samsung Weather, Stock, Calander Pack
ThinkFree Office
Tone Room Deluxe
Touchwiz Calander, Calculator Pack
Voice Commands
Wireless Modem
Write and Go
*****IF YOU HAVE VOODOO INSTALLED, DISABLE LAGFIX FIRST*****
Download the ROM and Addons. Unzip the Addons and decide which packs you want to flash. Put the ROM and individual Addons on your sdcard and boot into recovery. Flash the ROM first. Then you can flash the Addons individually. When you are done, reboot. If the phone hangs at the boot animation for more than 5 minutes, pull the battery, do three button to get back to recovery and do a data wipe/factory reset. Reboot and things should be fine.

Awesome! I'm reading up some more on how to flash these roms in and I plan on using this one. I'm new to this and just learning.
I installed ROM Manager and installed "flash clockworkmod recovery" (it said I had to) and then I clicked backup current ROM. I have tried twice, and it said failed each time.
I'm afraid to try it again, as I don't want to ruin my phone.
Any ideas?

Try going in to recovery by turning off the phone, hold the power and volume down button. Once in recovery, select apply sdcard:update.zip. That should get you get you to clockwork recovery. From there select install zip from sdcard and then choose zip from sdcard. Find the zip and flash it.
Let me know if that works.

Everything works. Installed without a hitch, has all the programs gone that I wanted and kept the ones I wanted by switching them to the correct folder.
This guy got on chat with me and walked me through step by step, great guy with a great ROM!

Thanks. That was my thinking. A lot of people were asking for apps to be put back in to jt's super clean ROM so I figured this was the easiest way that anyone could just drop in what they want and it would be custom tailored to their needs.
Since I've seen over 200 people look at the page but only 2 download the package, I'm thinking that there's got to be something to the hesitation. Feedback is welcome here, and encouraged. If this is too scary and people want something that they can just flash, throw some ideas out to me. I'm definitely open to suggestions.
I think the holidays may have something to do with it. Personally, I plan to use this once I get my phone rooted (for some reason z4root locks my phone up every time) But I want to wait until the rushing, travelling holiday is over because I cant go without my phone =)
I'm happy with the SuperClean Rom and Voodoo 5 right now, otherwise I'd have given this one a shot.
I'm still using this and I have had no issues. I like being able to choose which programs are going to be on my droid, instead of having all or none that I want.
I am getting same errors also..
I have done super one click..
Run Rom Manager and chose ROM it asks to reboot I get error.
When I choose SD update.zip it boots back into a image that has sceens that have black widgets.. All other Samsung and USSC stuff is still there as well as ROM Manager..

You have to do some work on the files to make ROM Manager working.
Get Clockwork Working
That will let you make the backup.zip and install from the SD card. Threw me for a loop as well.
One thing I do not want to lose or at least be able to find in another app is the SMART ALARM ..
I know... I got used to it in just a couple days. Love the way it sort of eased you awake instead of a full on GET UP..
So question would be. Which apk and dependencies would I need to keep and or anyone know of another app that would give me same with more options.

[Q] Just want to install a ROM....

Thats it... A simple (but I want to do it without bricking my $600 phone) ROM flash.
This is the ROM I would like to install:
Stock Sense - 1.13.605.7 Basic DeBloat
Thank you. I give up trying to get help in IRC. Waste of time (except for Dr_Drache, he was very helpful)).
what part do you need help on? are you rooted?
yes, I am already rooted. I had a major malfunction in BAMF 1.6.3 this a.m. when a battery went dead. I replaced the battery and the phone went nuts... So I unrooted the phone and then re-rooted. I couldnt get help in the IRC channel to install this ROM I am asking about so I thought I would try to get some help here.
Thanks for replying.
I am not seeing the question here... Do you have rom manager installed? You could install simply from there. That's how I did my initial rom install.

Just download .zip place on sd card and flash using rom manager or manually on clockwork recovery.

Simply download the rom place on sdcard and flash using rom manager. Just make sure u have the gingerbread radio installed as well, otherwise you won't have a data connection. Also be careful with this rom and other gingerbread roms because of the possibility of bricking your $600 phone. It's been reported the leaked radio was causing hard bricked phone (just an FYI)

Stock sense basic debloat ROM does not use the GB radio. And to install I would recommend not using rom manager to install it tends to cause problems.

Don't use Rom manager. Download the Rom. Reboot into recovery using Rom manager. Make a backup if you want. Wipe data. Wipe cache. Go to advanced. Wipe davlik cache and battery stats. Go to install zip from SD and select your Rom. When its done reboot.

I'm still not sure what the question is here...but i'll lay some steps out for you.
FIRST AND FOREMOST: HAVE AMPLE BATTERY CHARGE!! I don't flash with anything less than 50%. If you do, then continue at your own risk.
1. Go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081930 and pick out a ROM you think that you would like. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANY GINGERBREAD ROMS. These are still in ALPHA.
2. After you have the ROM downloaded, plug your phone into you computer and put the ROM anywhere on your sd-card. I made a new folder called ROMs and put all my ROMs in there. This keeps things tidy.
3. THIS IS OPTIONAL, but saves you a lot of time in the future. Download Titanium Backup. I would HIGHLY recommend the PRO option. Costs money now, but will save you hours in the future. This program needs root. It will backup all your apps with their data so when you switch ROMs, everything is restored easily and fairly quickly. If you go with this approach, then open TB and backup all USER APPS with DATA. DO NOT BACK UP SYSTEM APPS!!!
4. If you do not have Rom Manager, Download it now. Free is fine. Open up Rom Manager and make sure you have the latest Clockwork Recovery installed. If you don't, then install it. If everything is fine, click the option to boot into recovery. While some people use RM to install the ROMs, I find its better to do it manually.
5. When in Clockwork, go to backup and restore(hit power or home button to choose highlighted option). Choose Backup and let it do its thing.
6. When done, press the menu key until it goes to the main menu.
7. Choose Wipe data/factory reset and let it wipe the data. Do not worry, this will not touch your sd-card. All your pictures, movies, music, ROMs, and everything else on the sdcard will still be there.
8. Go into install zip from sdcard and choose "choose zip from sdcard"
9. Navigate to where you put your ROM from STEP 2
10. Choose the ROM and let it do its thing
11. Press Menu button to go back to main screen and REBOOT
12. ALLOW LOTS OF TIME TO LOAD UP. First boot always takes a long time, dont worry about it.
13. When booted up, ALLOW EVERYTHING TO LOAD. Now enjoy your ROM.
14. If you used Titanium Backup, get it from the market(if it isn't pre-installed). If you payed for it, you won't have to pay for it again as long as you use the same GMAIL account that you used before. All paid apps are saved to your gmail account. Restore all USER APPS with DATA. NOT SYSTEM APPS!
I am by no means a dev or claim to be a genius. I've been around since when the OG droid first came out and I'm just helping out. I am not responsible if something goes wrong. If anyone see's a mistake in this, please point it out or add a step if you want.

Thanks for the replies. For not knowing what the question was, it sure was answered pretty thoroughly.
I did buy Ti Pro a while back and use it a lot. That should be no problem once I figure out why I am not rooted now. I did the whole routine yesterday and Ti cant get su for some reason now.... yay for that. I guess I will try the whole thing again. (It may be that I need to get the proper busybox for Ti Pro to work and be allowed su)
So if I have read this correctly, I will be alright with the debloat ROM I mentioned earlier right? Since it is not gingerbread based right?
oastl: You said don't use ROM Manager then after one sentence you then say to use ROM Manager.... Using ROM Manager to boot into recovery must be a different thing altogether I suppose...
Thanks again for the help... Very much appreciated!

If you're using CWR (which i think is the only option these days?) you totally can. Just choose "install from SD card" and it'll let you navigate your folders. I have a neatly organized "RUU" folder on my SD card. Certain things like radios need to pushed as pg05img.zip on the root of the SD card.

I got super tired of trying to get someone to answer me in IRC. I think I will just come here with my questions from now on and leave that place to those who have the patience for it.
I also got too used to BAMF I think because I ended up flashing to 1.7 anyway... 2.0 looks really good. I think that is still in Beta or I read the post wrong altogether...

[Q] Installing Bionix Frost on SGS4g

I have been trying to install the Bionix Frost SGS4G rom from team whiskey, but I am having a lot of trouble doing so. I downloaded the file posted in the original thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119986), downloaded Rom Manager through my phone, then CWM through ROM Manager. I attempted to install the .zip file from the SD through ROM manager. Everytime I click the button to install from my SD card, I choose the folder and then my phone restarts and hangs on the "Galaxy S" startup screen. After about a minute, it starts up normally. I know I must be doing something wrong, so would it be possible for someone to walk me through installing this ROM (in somewhat detail)? Thank you in advanced!
I don't know specifically what's going on, but I just installed it on an otherwise stock+rooted T-Mobile SGS4G and it worked splendidly. Did you follow their steps exactly (emptying the cache and all that, and mounting /system)?
Thanks for the quick response. I never get the options to mount/clear because once I choose the .zip file, the phone restarts. I also have rooted, but otherwise stock. I haven't done much with it. Did you just put the zip file on your sd card and run from rom manager? Im not sure if there are any steps prior to this that I am missing. Thanks.

ok. i uninstalled ROM Manager. Then I went to the CWM Final Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099374) and downloaded the 2 files. I Used Root Explorer to overwrite my recovery file. Then I placed the update.zip file onto my SD Card. I just dragged and dropped into the SD card. It is not in a folder or anything and located in /sdcard on my phone. Then I redownloaded the Bionix Frost SGS4G rom and placed it in my /sdcard directory as well. I reboot my phone press the power button, along with both volume buttons to get into recovery. I get into the "Samsung Recovery Utils --for BML--, I see the options to reboot system now, reinstall packages, delete all user data and delete cache. But before I do this, I want to be sure I am on the right track. This is the recovery screen that everyone uses right? I do not see anywhere that it says ClockworkMod. If it is, I know I will have to choose "delete all user data", followed by "delete cache data". But after this step, how do I get to the options to "Mount storage and mount /system"? Thank you for all of the help
Click on reinstall packages ... that will load update.zip and that's how u get into cwm

I'm not sure if you got your problem fixed because I haven't read all the way thru this thread. But I had similar problems from what you described when I installed Bionix Black Ice with voodoo lag fix. I found that when I flashed the rom things didn't work right. My fix, after making a backup of everything, do a data/factory reset, then delete the cache, then delete delvik cache, then flash your new rom. After that, reinstall your apps thru the back up you created and all is good. I am using CWM to flash with and My backup root to backup my apps, files and what nots... Hope this helps!
sea, thats great advice. also, if you guys get any force closes, go back into cwm and go to advanced and fix permissions.

[Q] Ringtones gone....

First post... let me itroduce myself first.
I'm Stu....I've been lurking here for years and finally unlocked my first phone!
I'm currently using the SideKick4g, and this foru was a HUGE help in the unlocking process. Thanks!!!
I think I may have gotten a little crazy with the deleting, however. Everything is running fine at this point other than when I try to change ring/notification settings. Trying to access things gives me a force close every time.
I'm guessing I deleted something crucial. Anybody know what it may have been and how I can go about fixing this and/or getting around the situation? Will a simple program such as ringdroid replace whatever I got rid of? Shold I just flash a custom ROM?
Thanks in advance guys!
Stu
Let me add that I rooted with SuperOneClick, and used RootExplorer for ditching my bloatware. Hope that helps a little!
Stu
What did you remove? Ringtones are stored in /system/media/, do they just not show up when trying to set it, or does something else happens? Are you missing your stock ringtones, or just your custom ones?
When I go to settings>sound...selecting eithr phone ringtone or notification ringtone causes my force close.
I think maybe I deleted my system/media thinking it was the stock media player
Not that I'm too bummed about it. The stock rings are all just crappy versions of the "T-jingle".
I'd just like to be able to change stuff up
Well, looks like you took a risk and it came back to bite you. Reflash your ROM and try again.
Well...there's where the problem lies. I've never flashed a ROM. I'm sure I can handle it....just never done it.
And if I do need to flash a new ROM anyways, I feel like I should just flash a custom ROM. The gingerclone looks pretty nice. Does this delete my original ROM all together in the process? Are custom ROMs free of bloat?
That will wipe everything, so you should make a backup beforehand. yes, custom roms are almost always free of bloat, GingerClonev2 is only 124MB, where the stock rom is over 200MB. There are a few issues we're still working out, but it's pretty steady. otherwise, Teddy is releasing an update to an older ROM sometime soon as well, so I'd be on the lookout for that.
Okay cool. I'm gonna do some quick research and figure out how to do this.
What's the best way to save my original ROM to my desktop on my computer?
I'm just worried about killing my phone completely at this point.....
If you have CWM, use the backup menu, which uses Nandroid to backup everything by dumping everything on your phone into images. This all dumps onto your SDcard in the clockworkmod folder.
You can't brick your phone using CWM, you can only do that using ODIN, and only if you're not following directions/being intentionally stupid
Okay cool....downloading ROM Manager right now. I'm sure I'll post back with a few questions shortly!
Once the CWM/ROM manager has backed everything up....i should be able to copy the backup to my desktop? same thing with installing a new ROM
? Desktop to SD card?
BAhhhhhh.
I clicked on backup current rom and sent it into recovery mode.
Sorry about my lack of knowhow. Hopefully this all helps some others as well.....
I guess my biggest questions right now.... how do I get my original rom to a folder on my desktop, and once I download gingerclone, how do i move that from my desktop to sd to running it?
Yeah, copy the clockworkmod folder from your sdcard to your desktop, that'll copy everything off. I wouldn't suggest Rom Manager, many people have problems with that CWM. Look in the Dev forum for the CWM thread, and use that one.
In recovery mode, there should be a backup and restore menu. use the backup option, and then copy the clockworkmod folder from your sdcard to your desktop. that's your backup.
Okay. I plugged in my phone to the computer, and dragged a copy of the entire clockworkmod folder to my desktop.
Gingerclone is downloaded. Drag it to my SD? anywhere specific? or just on it?
On my desktop now is: folder/download, .recoverychecpoint(1KB), .salted_hash(1KB), .settings(1KB), and .settings2(1KB)
This is my backup correct?
I lost rom manager/root explorer.
After clearing stuff out and rebooting...it rebooted to the original rom with none of my added apps.
Can't download anything either at this point.
HELP!
Download manager keeps stopping and forces closed.
I reboot into recovery...and my options are:
reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data
If I try to reinstall packages, I get" E: failed to open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip(no such file or directory)
E: signature verification failed.
I'm in over my head now. Anyone out there maybe wanna help walk me thorough this on AIM or google chat or anything?
Which rom did you flash?
I tried flashing yours....but nothing. It's on my SD card right now
It just boots up to the original sidekick home/os.
You probably need to reroot or another update. Zip
Edit: actually what it sounds like you did was something similiar to what i did with a samsung galaxy s i deleted a bunch of apps and the i did a data wipe and factory restore without flashing my custom firmware through cwm and when it factory resetted it was real buggy from all the missing apps so u will have to odin

[SC-02C] Any Rom Patcher by Simmo [Updated : 2013/06/16]

Simmo's SC-02C Any Rom Patcher
with special thanks to wjchen0 for the ntt gps kernel module
Tested and working with ICS and JB 4.1.x
JB 4.2 works, but requires a Siyah based kernel or a kernel designed specificially for the SC-02C, such as KBC.
Please press the Thanks button if it works for you.
Code:
Modem: SC02C-OMLPL
Apps: ClockworkMod SuperUser
Busybox
Tweaks: Set NTP server (jp.pool.ntp.org)
Free tethering (tether_dun_required=0)
NTT GPS & compass fix
Facebook ContactsProvider database patch (is_restricted=0)
Black camera viewfinder fix for the Docomo rom
CyanogenMod APN xml (with spmode)
Samsung JellyBean fonts (incl. Japanese)
SP-Mode Mail with Push & Docomo Account Authenticator
Docomo emoji library
How to get a working JellyBean rom.
Root your phone and install a custom kernel. Reboot into CWM.
Download a custom rom. I recommend WanamLite or NeatRom.
Download my tweaker.
Install the rom first, then my tweaker.
Reboot, then you're done.
Note : You must install the tweaker every time you do a full wipe.
If you are running Jelly Bean then you can install CommuniCase by Docomo, instead of using SP-Mode Mail.
Changes:
2013/06/16
Updated the DcomoAccountAuthenticator to work with Docomo CommuniCase.
Added support for Docomo emojis in keyboard that use it.
Reverted to the OMLPL modem, as I found it works better.
2013/02/04
Updated the system modules and modem from the latest OMMP4 rom.
2013/01/28
The gps module has a bug that cuases the system to hang at the docomo logo.
You must install this new update to stop it happening.
If you already have the "stuck at docomo logo" problem, download the new tweaker and install on top. It deletes the corrupted file.

Works great
Great tweak. Working for me so far and I had a few issues myself. I will say that in order to get the ROM (I'm using Wanamlite 14.0 and the 23 Toggles) and the tweaker working properly I did have to do a full wipe.
I will just recommend that anyone who wants this to work BACKUP - BACKUP - BACKUP.
I also used Titanium Backup (correctly - Thanks Simmo :silly: ) to backup all user apps. Don't worry about the system apps - the ROM takes care of them.
My order of installation -
1 - BACKUP your current ROM - again - BACKUP your current ROM
2 - Use Titanium Backup (use this guide) to back up your user apps so you can get them back afterwards. When using Titanium Backup for the first time on a new ROM, you may get the message about using the phone's original ID, ignore it, let it use the new one.
3 - Follow SimmoF's instructions in the first post
4 - Reboot and enjoy.
Thanks again to SimmoF - buy him a beer.

Then it obviously appears that it is not the ROM or the tweaker causing the problem. Please be sure that you have the right Tweaker B version and boot into recovery and run it through again.
If not, I would say try again but after the ROM installs let it reboot before installing everything else. Run through the google setup stuff, don't do the samsung stuff, skip it.
Then go in and only restore user apps. I always thought I knew Titanium Backup well, but, as Simmo pointed out to me, I was wrong. Go ahead and JUST RESTORE YOUR USER APPS - NO SYSTEM APPS OR DATA. You may also have to go in and set your apn to the spmode.ne.jp .
This is what worked for me. After you have done that and just the ROM and your restoration works, test with a few reboots. Then go and get the tweaker file again. Just to be safe.
I know that, myself, if I let everything settle and check for running operation, then install the 23 toggles, tweaks and sp push files, it works.
If you get stuck at the boot logo AND you have downloaded the Tweaker B version of the file before wiping again - try to boot into recovery and just run the tweaker file as suggested.
DON'T GIVE UP!!!
It's a very smooth ROM. So far...
Re: [SC-02C] Any Rom Patcher by Simmo [Updated : 2013/01/28]
Finally set up everything.
Trick is not to use titanium back up to restore data.
Btw how can I use other kernel ?
And any suggestion for battery
Now on wanamlite Rom with simmon tweak.

Run a disk checker.
If on windows. Mount as USB device.
Open a command window on the PX.
Run the command "chkdsk driveletter: /f"
That should fix it. If it says partition type is RAW, then something strange happened and it needs to be formatted.
If your internal /data partition is damaged, you need to do something different. Tell me a If that fixes your problem.

how is your battery consumption\ for wanamlite?
I know this rom is great but the battery really decrease too fast. Even I close the mobile data and wifi. It drops around 5% per hr. compared to cm9, it is far too high
XXLS8 has issues. the XXLSJ leak is much better actually.
I recommend going back to the leak or going to cm10.1
I am playing around with cm10.1 at the moment.
XXLS8 sucks.

I've been trying to download your tweaker on and off now for about two weeks. Tried different combinations with different browsers to no avail.
Every time I click on the file, it just opens up and shows the files in the zip. Its pretty to look at but .....
Can you not just upload to xda???

I had the same problem. It's not the zip file that is a problem - it's google drive
First, I am assuming that you are doing this from the phone itself.
I used Firefox and this is what you need to do -
1-Click the link to download the file and once you are in the directory where you see the zip click on it.
2-It will open and show you the contents of the zip - don't worry
3-Click the menu key on your phone and one of the choices listed will be show as desktop or something like that - click it
4-Let page reload
5-Now at the top of where the zip file is shown, you will see some menu choices - File Edit, etc.......
6-Click File and I think the bottom choice is download. Click that and it should download the zip file.
It will give it a random name but you should be able to get things figured out from here.
Please thank me below and make sure you get simon (or Me - haha) a beer.
