How to get back to stock if you are having issues:
1. You will need to flash a sbf, you can find guides here for Windows and here for Linux.
2. Reboot recovery by pressing X on the keyboard and turning it on
3. Press the search key so a menu pops up
4. Navigate to wipe data with the volume keys. Select with the camera button.
5. Then navigate to reboot with the volume keys and select with the camera key.
You are back to stock and you can root!
The File Manager was included in this rom so you are able to install the Bootstrap application so you can restore a back up or flash a different rom. Wipe your data after this.

I'm real curious to hear what you guys found that will allow custom kernels on this phone. I already read over what birdman and nenolod were trying and it seems they threw in the towel. I read some other posts on droidforums about initiating essentially a second boot second to trick the phone into loading a custom kernel, but nothing more on that topic. Really curious to see how you might be able to implement this

I too would like to hear your theory on how to get a new kernel on the phone. Not in a hurry to see it happen, but just curious to hear the underlying theory.
Though, I do understand if you are waiting to get it released before sharing. Just don't forget to let the community know when/if you get it worked out. It will open a lot of doors for some of these rom cookers around here, and rom cookers of the future.

and just installed it, sans computer intervention (thank god nothing went wrong or I'd be SOL for 5 hours lol, im at work)
mounted, wiped cache/data, remounted, installed, remounted, and wiped cache/data again just to be safe
now I'm waiting for it to restore all my apps and stuff so I can get everything reconfigured and have a glorious blur free phone! thank you so much devs, this is fantastic

One thing I noticed: The "Car Home" application shows up in Android Market, but the update fails when attempting to apply it. Not sure what the cause of this is just yet. If I can glean more information from my own testing, will let you know.

I am not sure why that happens, but if you really want the new one from market, you can just remove it from /system/app and then it will install fine from market. I have had that issue with other apps before. Honestly, with a lot of these apps in the market now, there really isn't much need to include them in the rom.

Seems to work pretty well. Got stuck in a boot loop because I didn't wipe my data, so I rebooted recovery and wiped it. Problem solved.
The only problem I'm having is that I can't get Backup Assistant to work, so I can't restore my phone numbers.
I downloaded the stock app rar, and tried doing an ADB install for BackupAssistanceClient and BuaContactAdapter, but I get "Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT]".
I tried copying over BuaContactAdapter.apk and BackupAssistanceClient.apk manually (to /system/app) and setting permissions, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
Any ideas?

Export your contacts from the verizon website and then take that file and import it into gmail and sync your contatcs with gmail. Then, it doesn't matter which rom you install you'll have your contacts.

Here's what I did with another ROM. Go to VZW with your pc. Navigate to contacts. Export contact list as Outlook CSV. Go to your gmail acct and import the CSV. Sync phone contacts to gmail. Important to do the outlook export though. Regular CSV doesn't populate gmail contacts properly.

Just a quick question. If and when we flash this, are we still rooted? If so, can I just install bootstrap and reboot recovery and restore? Or do i have to do the whole root process again like if it was an original phone from store?

one thing with the bootloader i remember when i first got my eris was people on the fourms would keep emailing htc for the bootloader keys because it was hard to crack and htc gave them up ... maybe if we flood moto with emails and stuff they'll loosen up like htc

Yes, it comes with root. No, you do not want to restore. Restoring will bring you back to the backup you created. This rom comes with Superuser.apk (root) no need to re-root.

I seem to remember the alpha thread saying not to flash themes over this....but don't think it was mentioned this go round....still the case? (assume so). Figured it was worth noting in the first post if that's the case.
Also....I just installed this, and am also stuck unable to get it programmed.
First time it started the music and then got a failed message. Since then I don't even get the music, and after 20 seconds or so I just get a "Please enter the # you're calling about" message and if entered, it just tries to transfer me to cust service.

yes, I am already rooted. I had a major malfunction in BAMF 1.6.3 this a.m. when a battery went dead. I replaced the battery and the phone went nuts... So I unrooted the phone and then re-rooted. I couldnt get help in the IRC channel to install this ROM I am asking about so I thought I would try to get some help here.

I am not seeing the question here... Do you have rom manager installed? You could install simply from there. That's how I did my initial rom install.

Just download .zip place on sd card and flash using rom manager or manually on clockwork recovery.

Stock sense basic debloat ROM does not use the GB radio. And to install I would recommend not using rom manager to install it tends to cause problems.

Don't use Rom manager. Download the Rom. Reboot into recovery using Rom manager. Make a backup if you want. Wipe data. Wipe cache. Go to advanced. Wipe davlik cache and battery stats. Go to install zip from SD and select your Rom. When its done reboot.

I'm still not sure what the question is here...but i'll lay some steps out for you.
FIRST AND FOREMOST: HAVE AMPLE BATTERY CHARGE!! I don't flash with anything less than 50%. If you do, then continue at your own risk.
1. Go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081930 and pick out a ROM you think that you would like. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANY GINGERBREAD ROMS. These are still in ALPHA.
2. After you have the ROM downloaded, plug your phone into you computer and put the ROM anywhere on your sd-card. I made a new folder called ROMs and put all my ROMs in there. This keeps things tidy.
3. THIS IS OPTIONAL, but saves you a lot of time in the future. Download Titanium Backup. I would HIGHLY recommend the PRO option. Costs money now, but will save you hours in the future. This program needs root. It will backup all your apps with their data so when you switch ROMs, everything is restored easily and fairly quickly. If you go with this approach, then open TB and backup all USER APPS with DATA. DO NOT BACK UP SYSTEM APPS!!!
4. If you do not have Rom Manager, Download it now. Free is fine. Open up Rom Manager and make sure you have the latest Clockwork Recovery installed. If you don't, then install it. If everything is fine, click the option to boot into recovery. While some people use RM to install the ROMs, I find its better to do it manually.
5. When in Clockwork, go to backup and restore(hit power or home button to choose highlighted option). Choose Backup and let it do its thing.
6. When done, press the menu key until it goes to the main menu.
7. Choose Wipe data/factory reset and let it wipe the data. Do not worry, this will not touch your sd-card. All your pictures, movies, music, ROMs, and everything else on the sdcard will still be there.
8. Go into install zip from sdcard and choose "choose zip from sdcard"
9. Navigate to where you put your ROM from STEP 2
10. Choose the ROM and let it do its thing

The rom can't be in a folder on your SD card when flashing it has to be on the root of the SD card.

Yes the rom can be in a folder. Only radios cannot be flashed from folders.

Thanks for the replies. For not knowing what the question was, it sure was answered pretty thoroughly.
I did buy Ti Pro a while back and use it a lot. That should be no problem once I figure out why I am not rooted now. I did the whole routine yesterday and Ti cant get su for some reason now.... yay for that. I guess I will try the whole thing again. (It may be that I need to get the proper busybox for Ti Pro to work and be allowed su)
So if I have read this correctly, I will be alright with the debloat ROM I mentioned earlier right? Since it is not gingerbread based right?
oastl: You said don't use ROM Manager then after one sentence you then say to use ROM Manager.... Using ROM Manager to boot into recovery must be a different thing altogether I suppose...

My ROMS are always in folders when I flash them on my devices and it has worked just fine!

If you're using CWR (which i think is the only option these days?) you totally can. Just choose "install from SD card" and it'll let you navigate your folders. I have a neatly organized "RUU" folder on my SD card. Certain things like radios need to pushed as pg05img.zip on the root of the SD card.

Well, with all the help, I did manage to get everything back as it should be. Thanks a lot for that too!
I got super tired of trying to get someone to answer me in IRC. I think I will just come here with my questions from now on and leave that place to those who have the patience for it.
I also got too used to BAMF I think because I ended up flashing to 1.7 anyway... 2.0 looks really good. I think that is still in Beta or I read the post wrong altogether...

[Q] cyanogenmod7 help with market.

so as i previously posted, i flashed cm7 and lost all google apps. so i downloaded a android market apk file for android to get it back and it worked. now when i select the market app on my homescreen, its says " you must add an accout to the device to continue. do you want to add one now?" so when i click "yes" it closes and goes back to my homescreen. whats going on now. i dowloaded the file from multiupload and it installed perfectly. it seems once i get one problem fixed i run into another. any help would be much appreciated. thanx.

Have you tried flashing the gapps?

havent found one that worked yet. ideas?

Go to menu, settings, applications, manage applications and erase all data. Then try again. If that does not work uninstall the apk file you downloaded and try installing a new one from www.RCmix3D.blogspot.com

ok i downloaded the link to my device, now once im in recovery mode, what do i select? do i install zip from sd card? or wipe data/factory reset or what. i just dont wanna **** anything up lol. sorry im a total noob to this.

and when i bring the gapps up in ROM manager, a window thats says " rom pre-installation comes up. and has 1. backup existing rom, 2.wipe data and cache, and 3. wipe dalvik cache. the third is the only one selected. do i need to change any of this?

Install zip from SD card, it could be in the download section of your SD card. That's where mine was.
I.didn't wipe anything when I did it and I turned out OK. But if you get bootloops, pull the battery, boot back into recovery and wipe everything then install.
Btw I'm still learning but its a fun learning experience.

As per your posts your new so please spend a few hours reading up before doing anything like running a CM based rom as there are things that only effect CM based roms.
Use recovery to flash things not rom manager (didnt know that was even still used lol)

1) The first Rom I flashed was eagleblood. I put it on my SD card from my computer, then I put the SD card back in my phone and did the rest from there. Can we flash Roms without using the computer like if we download right to our phones on the website and then flash?
2)Eagleblood is the first and only Rom I looked at and flashed so far but after clicking the eagleblood link, there was about 7 or 8 different downloads. I guess I got lucky and chose the right one so I'm assuming the others were updates. So for the future, how do I distinguish between them and know which is the actual Rom download link?
3) Which is the best Rom?
4) How do I get my home screen to show in landscape view since I'm rooted now?
5) When flashing from Rom to Rom, how do I get all my apps, phone settings, and everything else back without having to take an hour to resetup everything? Can you explain the procedure if you are going to recommend an app for this? Right now I downloaded the free version of titanium backup so I'm assuming that would be it. 1. Yes
2. The newest one. Look at the version numbers.
3. That's up to you to decide for yourself. Nobody's preferences are the same.
4.You could have done this before. It depends on what launcher you are using most of the time. Play around in the launcher settings.
5.Get the paid version of titanium. Use it to backup user apps+data. Settings and system apps don't normally respond well to a new rom. After you flash something new, get on the market and just download titanium again. Restore from your backup afterwards. All your apps+data will be back. Your phone settings need to be done manually to avoid errors.
6.If you're unsure about uninstalling apps, get the paid version of titanium and freeze the app instead. If it screws something up then defrost.
All of this info is already here. Poke around a little more.

I believe EB has a mobile site, so just navigate to it using your browser and download the appropriate files. They'll wind up on the SD card where you can just flash through CWM.

what ever you download from the browser it'll show up in SD cards/Downloads... it'll be in there and then from there you can move it or you can navigate from the CWM to there

Who or what is "EB"?
As for your answer to number 4......how do you get to the launcher settings? I'm not sure what those are.

Hello everyone i just got my first android phone HTC ONE X with AT&T and I'm new to the whole android community my old phone was a iPhone and so far i love the one x a lot more then my iPhone.... anyway i rooted my phone and unlocked the boot-loader and now i don't know what/how to do. i know about roms but i don't know of any good ones, so if anyone can help me by telling me what exactly i can do with my rooted phone and tell me about roms any information will be helpful

you need twrp recovery to flash roms.you can flash them 10 times a day.
All Sense 4.0 ROMs here is stable for daily use becase they are based on official ruu.

I highly suggest aokp and then flash cm10 when it gets more stable. Also get titanium backup.

The good thing is you already did the hard part, flashing roms on this device is very easy as long as you take the necessary precautionary steps. Since there is so much information on this forums, I know how hard it is to find simple answers at times with them being scattered all over the board and all so I'll just give em to you here
First off, make a "nandroid". Turn off your phone, then hold the power and volume down key until you get into boot loader mode. Then simply navigate the options to make a backup of your phone, very simple you've just made a "nandroid". Next boot your phone normally, go into the play store and search for and download the following apps:
1. Goomanager
2.SMS backup and restore
3. Titanium backup ( pay for the pro version if you don't want to reinstall every app one by one)
First run goomanager, it will ask for super user access, grant it. Then you need to install twrp (a third party recovery program that is preferable for our devices over cwm because it gives less problems) through goomanager by hitting the menu option while in the app and selecting "install open recovery script".
Once that is done open titanium backup and hit the little check mark at the top right, choose the option to "backup all user apps". Don't backup system data because if you restore system data when you flash a new rom it will give you problems since it is a whole new system, make sense right?
OK now open SMS backup restore and backup all your text messages that you don't want to lose. Make sure u sync all your contacts to your Google account for easy recovery as well.
Now you're ready to flash a rom. I suggest either aokp (which I use and love daily) or cleanrom if you want a stock experience without bloatware. I prefer aokp because I love aosp, the way android was meant to be and it doesn't kill your apps as soon as you leave then.
Either way you can try both and decide for yourself.
Download the rom zip file and transfer them to your phones memory, I usually put the rom zip files in a folder labeled "roms". You also want to download and transfer a zip called "gapps". There are the stock Google apps and you will flash it after flashing your rom.
OK now just reboot your phone, select reboot into recovery and it will restart and take you to twrp. Then you need to do a factory reset first (I do it twice) then wipe dalvik and cache (I do this before and after flashing the rom to be safe), then just hit install, navigate o the folder where you put the rom zip in and hit flash. Then flash the gapps zip once the rom is done flashing then wipe dalvik and cache again and voila you have a new rom on your phone! So just reboot the phone and youre golden.
Download titanium backup again and use that to restore all your apps, then SMS backup to restore texts and that's it. Good luck man hope this helped since it definitely would've helped me when I first started. You must use openrecovery-twrp-2.1.8.1-evita.There's been an accident with cwm (ported recovery)+aroma+God knows what=no sim card detection forever.
twrp-2.1.8.1 is stable,does everything you need,keep it that way.
And try to stay away from radios and recovery changes/updates.
And yes,to have HTC Device and use Senseless ROMs does not make sense at all...

flash a Sense rom to start then go venture out into the aosp world once they are stable. There are many roms to choose from. Just be sure to read the OP before flashing and if you have questions about the rom it self, ask in that forum too.

Well,I wouldn't say that, HTC makes great hardware, incredible build quality, others...not so much.to me running senseless HTC makes plenty of sense

I agree.. used to love sense. Even used the sense dream board themes on iphone haha... Once I got past my honeymoon period of my first real android, I'm all for aosp.. makes a great deal of sense to me
