thats not a burn in loool.
its just how the screen is . all amoled screens are like that. but in some screens they are not very noticable while others . you can see them more clearly on gray wallpaper on lowest brightness.
you will NEVER get away with them. just try to find one that isnt very obvious.

It's possible for the AMOLED to suffer from burn-in, when I had the stock notification bar on my nexus one, the time got burned into my screen. Pretty noticeable when using the browser in landscape on a white page
heres what i did to check "burn in " installed this app screen filter from market.
my brightness settings under phone settings set to 0% , switched off auto.
under screen filter i set my brightness to 19 %.
then, from the dialer *#0*# and did lcd test and found signs of burn in . before tht i did not see anything at all.
now if u follow the above guide you will definitely see signs of wear.
Just install the app called dead pixel detect, you will see the burn in if you have any.
When I start the android XDA developers application, I see the symbols of the notification bar on the brown (I am color blind so not sure if it is brown or green) start screen in the area where the notification bar is. I am not sure if the OLEDS are just slower in that area or if they are already burned in.
Hi guys, while I love this phone we all know that it has a few little... quirks. I think I can live with most of them although the overheating this is really getting on my nerves. It really doesn't need to get that hot. Anyway, back on topic. I haven't seen this mentioned here so thought I would ask if anyone else thinks this is normal. Has anyone else noticed light seeping through from both sides, and also the top of the screen. Take a look at my pics and see what i'm talking about. I have the AUO panel, and just wanted to know if I should bother exchanging it. If this isn't normal then I'll take it back today.
Please let me know what you think.
Edit - I added the Ubuntu Wallpaper so that you can see how it is brighter in the middle but, it doesn't glow in that rectangular shape the way it does in the pic the first pic that I posted.
I just made a video showing the halo effect. Notice how the glow is always there (depending on what's on the screen as you don't really notice it when something bright is on the screen)
Notice how the backlight bleeds when there is a light object near the edge of the screen. I don't notice any bleed when the screen is all black. Is this normal?

I see it but it also looks part of the wallpaper...
Download dead pixel test from the market > set your brightness all the way up > now in dead pixel get the black wallpaper > check for bleed in a dark room.
I'd have to shoot a video to show you. If you move the wallpaper around in the gallery, you can see the edges light up more. I'll try to shoot a video and post. Be back in a minute.

I'm exchanging it today.
Good luck, hopefully you can test it out in the store and decline it if there are any issues. Shoots, check to make sure all the little bugs are gone from the new unit before you leave the store!
I've seen 4 in person and none of them had any bleed. You should exchange that unit as it is pretty bad. I have seen plenty of G2X's that looked like that though.

I am seeing 2 single white dots on left side of my phone screen. I like Galaxy R beacuse of its specification. But same time I was worried about its screen size as I am too used to keep phone on left front pocket of my jeans pant. When I drive 2 wheeler I see sometime it gets pressurized. I don't know how else I can keep this phone with me.
So the question is, did my phone create any dead pixels just because of it might have got some pressure? Anyone can help to know are those really dead pixels and how to fix them?
I can only see them when camera switch on/off and display for a moment becomes black or when watching video. Otherwise with full colour background wallpaper, dots never be seen.
Well as we have lcd screen, i dnt thinkk that problem like dead pixels in amoleds can be happen here (correct me if i m wrong)
try flashing stock rom and wipe cache and dalvik cache, may be it help. Do update ur prob resolved or not.

i don't think they are dead pixels, it may be because of dust.. similar thing happened to my friends Optimus One because of dust..
First let's confirm its not due to the background of the picture that was on your screen.
- Type *#0*# => Press Vibration(Black) => Now check if there are any White spots.
- If there are white spots on the screen then take it to the service center and have it checked, if its just dust as guys above me have mentioned then they'll clean it.
- If you can't see any white spots then it was the background that you were talking about which had white spots & nothing is wrong with the screen.

I have a similar white spot... well, i am saving that one, given that the R is now out of stock, if we dont see an ICS build or if samsung says they can't get to update it to ICS, i am gonna take it to the samsung centre and ask them to change the screen as i am getting that white spot and because of no stocks, i am sure i will be getting my refund
Even I had a white pixel on the left hand side of the screen on my SGR. You can observe it only while having a dark background. I read online that its pretty common so I left it.
You can try an android app - "Pixellator" (?!).. I am not sure if thats the name.. It has been made specifically for such white pixels.. Its dint work for me though... But no harm in trying

Thanks for this information. I was not knowing such hidden interface. I did above test and found no white spots. I am actually confused now. I do have scratch guard on my screen. Don't know but those 2 white spots can be seen randomly only when black background is on screen.

Then it's the background's problem .
I know CM7 has such a system app called CMWallpapers.apk , and they have the choice of setting it as "No Wallpaper" . Can you try extracting that from the CM7 ROM and giving it a try ? Don't know if it works though *shrug*

try turning on the brightness to max and then do the vibration ( black) test...
then you can see them easily...
it is there in my case...

Switch on the camera and cover your camera & manually turn off the flash. Now take a picture it would be completely black.
Do update on the progress here.

I can now see those 2 very small white spots at the same place. Do such spots are problematic in future and should be fixed at service center soon? Do they will fix this under warranty?

If u want u can raise claim and yes they will fix it for free as its a display prob and ur phone is in warrnty period.
Before giving in ssc ensure that u have flashed stock rom of ur country, ur download counter is zero and ur phone is not rooted.

yes this display problem does come under warranty.. However i am saving mine for a full replacement

i had my Samsung tablet 8.9 since January and all of a sudden i noticed a white spot on the screen. it appears as gray when the device is on and the screen is white and it appears as white when the device is off or the screen is black. has anyone encountered the same problem? what is it? and why it suddenly appeared? how to solve it?
it is a normal thing. almost all lcd screens have approx. 0.03% dead pixel in whole screen even if it is new. there is no point to be worried about this.

What exactly is screen burn-in? Is it the same as the screen has different color depending on what angle you are looking at it? My experience is when i look directly on my screen, it show some yellowish in white background, but when i tilt it forward or backward, the white becomes white with no yellowish color. And when i turn it sideways it become pinkish.. do you think my screen is busted? Or is it what you call the screen burn-in?

^-That's a good example of what a screen burn (or is it image retention?) looks like. Found this image on Google just for the purpose of an example, it's clearly not from an HTC One S haha
My friend who uses the HTC Sense clock has developed minor screen burn from having the clock widget in the same place since day one of his phone

But i don't have that kind of burn-in like in the picture.. the yellowish color i see is in the whole screen but in the picture you post ia only a part of the screen is having the yellowish patches..

Notice the faint icons? As to fixing it, I don't believe there is a way other than replacing the screen. It happens when an image is displayed without movement. It sort of "burns" into the screen, and when viewing something else, its slightly visible, thus "ghosting"
As for the yellow tint you see in the whole screen, I believe some displays are just like that.

Thank you for the explanation.. but i don't have that ghosting nor the faint icons.. i only experience the different colors when viewing in different angles, i just hate it, nothing else, but why is that?

tbh i wonder what would happen if you attempted to burn in the color inverted (dont do it, lol)
But most likely a new screen, which isn't too expensive.
If you had a big enough discount, it'd be no problem.
Does anyone get lines on their screen it seems to really show up on light and grey colors. Its weird because it doesn't look like it goes from edge to edge its just where there is bright colors.
I attached a picture, my display just goes nuts whenever I have it up because of all the grey. I can see the horizontal lines at around 15% screen brightness and up.
Perfectly normal on a LCD Display...have it on my Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 5 and noticed it on other devices like the LG G2...not noticeable unless you´re VERY close to the screen...nothing too bad

I can't believe this is normal, this effect doesn't show up on my computer LCD, and when I have that picture up you can see lines from far away on my phone.
Okay...I see you´re coming from the Galaxy Nexus, just like me...muuuuch better screen imo despite the lower pixel density..
But very noticeable Scanlines might indicate a GPU or Screen defect...small lines, barely noticeable may be just the digitizer you´re seeing...Again: Only speculations
I noticed these lines on my N5, but they´re too small to capture on a camera let alone see from a distance...
You might want to RMA or try other Nexus devices out..
I am looking at the image on a 60" 1080p display and I can't see any horizontal lines. I must be blind?

Ummm...... That is a SCREENSHOT it will not show defects in the display, only what the software is "outputting" to the display, screenshots will be defect free.
