[Q] Brightness levels not working? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I'm trying to adjust the brightness setting using the OOTB HTC widgets, as well as using the Notification Toggles app but it doesn't seem to work.
Looks like the only way to adjust the brightness levels is to go through Settings > Display.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way to do this outside of the Settings?
Thanks!

The power control widget works for me.

I've tried that and it didn't work.
However, what I just noticed is that changing it in either place actually DOES work but only after the screen turns off and on again.... so it doesn't change it in real time.

Power control changes mine in real time

Do you know if the LED lights go back to full brightness after I turn on my screen?

No they don't. They stay at the setting in the app. Paul put it out its quality
Edit: this should be in the Q&A section

Do I know if I NEED the service running 24/7 on order to work?

If your using the app, yes the service MUST run. If its built into the kernel\ROM like CM7, then you dont even need the app
You shouldn't be running a task killer anyway. Android manages its services by itself killing system apps on a regular basis can make apps that need to be running in the back ground start again wasting battery. Plus your phone will act strange after awhile. You shouldn't use them.
Again this belongs in Q&A

Moved to proper forum.
Too bad I didn't read this thread earlier, I figured this out on my own today, doing the same thing, I changed my brightness to 1 (the lowest it would stay lit) , I do think this would definitely help out on battery life.

The Touch Key Lights app DOES NOT works properly with
1) Cyan 7 mod
I am using stock Android now, it works like a charm
One touch, and the program changes the value FOREVER (even after reboots, after I re-insert the battery...)

Full screen weather animation

Simple question, how do I disable the full screen weather animation after unlock? Can't see that setting in the weather ap menu.
Thanks

i think if you long hold the widget like you are going to trash it but drag it to edit you should be able to turn it off.

The only option there is to edit location.
I think there is some kind of bug here cause I haven't even chosen the weather animation for the lockscreen but sometimes I get that animation anyway.
Yeah, I'm definitely missing something here. I remember turning it on with my first handset, but with this one is can't find the setting. Weird.

Drag the clock to 'edit', select location and then you will be given the option to enable or disable full screen animation.

The weather app is set up to show you the weather once a day in the morning on your lockscreen. You can turn this off in the settings of the weather app.

Vibrate feedback

Anyone's vibrate feedback almost unnoticeable? Swapped my device because of connection issues (and update to 1.85 OOPS) and the vibrate feedback on this new one sucks. Pressing the home/back/multi task keys disappoints me every time. I know it's early in the dev phase but does anyone know a mod that can fix this? (Longer vibrate for feedback)
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
No mods yet as far as I know. I know go sms let's you change the vibrate frequency, length and pattern. Other then that, might be SOL. I never thought mine was very strong to begin with. I have since turned it off to save battery. It takes a bit to get used to, but it's worth it. I think lol.

3 Finger Slide Remap

So I recently learned that by sliding 3 fingers up the screen it launches the Media Link HD setup/app. I think it would be cool to be able to remap that gesture to something else, say Google Now. I figure this is stuffed deep inside one of the framework apk, so is this even possible?
Bump

Have fun with that, you'd be keeping a constant partial wakelock to have it working while the phone is asleep.
You'd probably lose 60 percent or more of your battery in 8 hours even with the screen off.

[Q] Screen not turning on during calls!

Hello everyone,
So i bought a one X a couple months ago and it already came with a custom rom, i removed that and installed the Team Viper rom and currently have the latest version installed (April 10). The phone screen will not turn on during a call if you move the phone away from your ear like it should, the only way to get it to turn on is by pressing the power button and even then it only stays on for a few seconds and then turns right back off. Im not sure if this worked before i installed Viper. Any suggestions guys?

Do you have a case? Try placing a call and use your finger to left of the AT&T logo. I don't know much about viper but could be a setting (usually accessibility) that does that.

You can also try calibrating g sensor.

I tried both of the suggestions from you guys and none of them work. I tried doing a full wipe and re installing the viper rom but no success...anything else?

also is there a screen timeout? and im sure android has a feature where you can hang up using power button...again i am not sure about viper, but if you go to settings > accessbility > and make sure certain things are not checked, that can help...if that doest work, then your proximity sensor could not be working...does your auto brightness adjust accordingly?

There is no security lock for the homescreen, the auto brightness also works perfectly. I cant find anything in accessibility the only thing checked off is auto rotate screen. I think it may be the proximity sensor then because the digitizer on the phone looks like it was replaced.
The only other thing that I can think of is a screen protector that is blocking it or it has smudges that need to be cleaned. They have apps that calibrate proximity sensors but I have never used them.

I seen those up here. Search the forums or play store. Is the auto brightness using the same sensor or is it two? Tried looking, but can't tell.
Sent from my Carbon-ize Evita using xda-developers app
I believe it is two. If both auto brightness and proximity were running off the same sensor, they would both act up. I think. Just a theory. But if it is one sensor then the calibration app should work.

It would make sense to be two. But who knows?
