Do you know if the LED lights go back to full brightness after I turn on my screen?
Sent from my G2X using XDA Premium

No they don't. They stay at the setting in the app. Paul put it out its quality
Edit: this should be in the Q&A section

Ok I installed that program
I tried it before but didn't played too much with it
Do I know if I NEED the service running 24/7 on order to work?

If your using the app, yes the service MUST run. If its built into the kernel\ROM like CM7, then you dont even need the app

You shouldn't be running a task killer anyway. Android manages its services by itself killing system apps on a regular basis can make apps that need to be running in the back ground start again wasting battery. Plus your phone will act strange after awhile. You shouldn't use them.
Again this belongs in Q&A

Moved to proper forum.

Too bad I didn't read this thread earlier, I figured this out on my own today, doing the same thing, I changed my brightness to 1 (the lowest it would stay lit) , I do think this would definitely help out on battery life.

The Touch Key Lights app DOES NOT works properly with
1) Cyan 7 mod
I am using stock Android now, it works like a charm
One touch, and the program changes the value FOREVER (even after reboots, after I re-insert the battery...)

Notifications

Hello I have had my NS4G for a month and through all the fun and excitement of unlocking and rooting it I noticed that when I get any type of notification that my LED lights don't come on at all. I actually don't think they ever did. Am I trippin or is it supposed to be that way lol.

There is no notification LED on this phone... so to answer you, its perfectly normal
Ty now I can stop thinking I was crazy.

Try a kernel with bln support as a workaround

Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036991
With BLN app from market.
Noled is another alternative. If you're interested in trying that (no special kernel required) I can give you the settings I found that work well. It took some trial and error to get them the way I like them.

Noled isn't that great of an app. For some reason when there is a notification, the soft touch buttons at the bottom of the phone stay lighted.
Also, the screen isn't pure black when the notifications come on. It has this greyish hue to it. Totally not liking the app.

How to turn off the button lights?

Does anyone know of an app or a setting to control the touch button lights at the bottom of the screen?
i tried searching for a solution but found none.
I like reading off of the kindle app at night and with 22% brightness and white text on a black background, the result is a perfect experience -- except for the four blinding leds every time I turn the page...
This might also be helpful for those with issues during streaming video (i.e. Netflix).
I apologize in advance if this has been dealt with/is in the wrong place.

That is a very good question and I have the same problem while reading on my phone. I'm going to try and do some research to see if I can come up with a solution.
Try this. I don't know if it works or not yet

Bump for a good question
the light buttons are bright as fkc at night. +1 good question.. probably saves battery too if someone can dev this app.
https://market.android.com/details?id=neldar.bln.control.free
Install BLN control and check Activate Notifications. The lights will only stay on for a few seconds after you touch the screen/buttons.
Thanks for trying guys. I want to completely disable those bad boys. I know where they are. Don't need a searchlight!
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Well you can't disable them. Not even the stock roms let you do that, the best bet is for them to only blink, which is they turn on when you're using them.
Some black tape works lol
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
Would the touchscreen still work with black/electrical tape? That makes me wonder, but I am lazy and have none on hand to test out.

Power Save app and Timer & Clock widgets

There is a link to download: http://www.xperiablog.net/
just extract the rar and install each apk.
thanzzzzz for share
Power save app from Xperia Ray is easiest way to turn on/of power save mode.
The timer would be a good app if it alerted you at the end of the countdown
Uninstalled! Clock...Uninstalled! Gonna try the powersave app tonite and see how that works out.
i can't get into the link...can somebody post a direct link to the file please..
nvm..i got it already from here

Well I gave the powersave app a go last nite and its really nothing different than what ive been doing, but it does it all in one shot so im keeping it.
It turns off background data/wifi/animations/gps/bluetooth as well as turns brightness down to 0. I would normally do all that stuff manually (except for animations, which ive always left on) and my battery life is excellent! 2 days on a single charge easy, 3 days once.

there is a function for automaticaly switching power save mode and it is very usefull when the battery life is about 20%

How so? I tried it two ways, once with the screen not locked....all it did was flash the start/stop button green, didn't make any audible sound.
Once with the screen locked, it didn't even turn the screen on, make a sound, nothing.

Way to disable notification light at certain times?

I was wondering if there was an app/tweak that would allow me to select times where I'd like to see the blinking notification light.
For example, if I want to turn it off overnight so i don't see it blinking all night when those pesky emails come in.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

I haven't figured out a way to turn it off period. The only option I have checked is for the LED to be on while charging. Yet it continues to blink for notifications. I think there are some known bugs with the US models' LED.
There is an app called Lighflow led that is supposed to give you complete control over notifications and the led but they are having issues specifically with the gs3.

Check out tasker. Their page says it works. I couldn't get it to work on my phone but YMMV. It may be an issue with this particular model though.

If you don't go into the app that is causing the notifications and turn off led notifications it will still blink regardless of system settings.

I have Juice Defender set up to disable all data (including auto sync) at night. I don't get any notifications until I turn on the screen in the morning. I have Ultimate and I know that feature isn't in the free version, but it works for me.

I could be wrong but stock email and gmail apps don't appear to have that option yet the led blinks for both.

Unfortunately it requires root and tasker, but if you have these it has worked perfectly for me so far. Let me know if you have any questions.

Dim Softkey brightness? Is it possible?

Is it just me or are the softkeys really bright on the s2?
Well, ive gone on google and tried to find the answer, but seems like there is not a way to possibly reduce the brightness of the softkeys itself.
However, before i give up (i find those softkeys useful, but hard to use at night as its too bright, and turning off the function is difficult to use) I was wondering if its possible without rooting, by using a 3rd party app.
Thanks

That's an interesting idea. The brightness issue made me turn off that light all together (running CM9). I found the light so distracting when using my phone to read a book or something in a dark room at night...
I hope someone chimes in with an idea.
.
Seriously doubt its possible without root.... with root, the only ones i can find just turn them off.. havent seen anything that just dims.
Would definitely say impossible without root, as you need to edit system files to alter hardware functions. I don't believe there is a variable anywhere to edit that though, because I've only ever seen their functions to be off and on with all the phones I've used that have had them. Just my 2 cents, but I'm sure a skilled dev could give you a better opinion.

Darn alright thanks for your posts!
Hopefully a dev could give his $0.02, as i would believe it would make the softkeys more usable throughout the day and night.
i think over time you get use to it. i turned my keys off and i have no problem navigating.

Use the app screen filter. It will allow you to dim the buttons. Not sure if root is needed or not tho.

Didn't work for me either, however, I like the the function of the app for screen brightness.

I'm not sure exactly how these specific leds work, but I know with store bought leds, you can use what's called multiplexing which makes them flash faster than your eye can see, but slow enough that it seems as if they are dimmer...not sure if there is a way to lower the speed or if you can even make them flash at all (constantly)
You could also maybe look for a night mode from a third party app to change settings at a certain time
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
That said.. I wonder if its safe to have a an app to lower voltage/amps to these leds.
