Search, read, try, learn. The info is literally everywhere on this subject. Why would we need to rewrite what is already available to you?

Indeed as Pirate said. Not 1 person here just magically knew what to do. Most of this stuff is trial & error. The reading is to get you going in the right direction for what your trying to accomplish. Although you with find some step by step guides. Try different things and see the outcomes. One thing of advice. Always keep backups of what your editing and track what your doing in case you need to reproduce something such as an error your trying to fix. Anyways good luck!
I should restate my question. I understand that stuff is there, and I have found it, but I'm wondering what would be easy to make for a first time Rom. Like should I start with sense, or should I do stock. And wich version of android should I try out first

That depends. Are you wanting to modify a stock rom or compile CM/AOKP and edit that for your phone?

Start with modifying what your phone is running. Learn how to decompile and compile apks, smali edit, and understand the XML layout and structure of android. Unless you have a device that is supported by aosp you won't be building anything for stock android. At least until there is source and proprietary blobs available for your current device.

I want to start easy, would modifying one be easiest? Or starting from scratch?

Thanks guys that all I wanted to know. I'm going to use my inspire and mess with that. Again, thanks.

Hi, guy. I'm new to android, inspire 4g is my first smartphone. I spent a tone of time learn how to root, radio s-off, sim-unlock my device. I used the "hackerize-ace" package V9. I'm currently using 【rom】 Android Revolution 4G 3.2, 【bootloader】 ace-hacker SHIP-S-Off(something like this), 【clockworkmod recovery】 3.0.0.6 (something like this) 【software version】2.2.1 . I'm having a hard time trying to install a new theme for my phone, can anyone help me out? provide me with more detailed steps? Thank you very much. If you need more information in order to help, please let me know.

【rom】http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964841
What kind of trouble are you having? What is happening when you try to flash the theme? I am assuming you have flashed the rom then a full reboot then flash the theme.
ummm, I flash the rom, then reboot device, then use rom manage to install(in recovery). But, the theme did not appear the same as post. And some places, like the phonebook/contacts list looked mess up.
For your contact list, sounds like a font provlem. Your best bet would be to ask the theme dev.

Make sure you are installing the 1.84 version of whatever theme you choose. That may be your problem.

I am new to this website, I wish to root my Htc Inspire 4g. I've heard of using SuperOneClickv1.5.5-ShortFuse.zip... would that work when My Android is running Froyo?

Both rooting methods are extremely watered down have you tried downloading either of them?
I am not trying to be rude, but if it is hard to understand, then I would recommend reading more before you root.

Not trying to pile on, but... Seriously?
There's nothing difficult about the guide. The rooting techniques have been simplified as much as possible, for this phone.
Customizing this phone is going to require a little bit of effort on your part, it's not going to root itself.

So I just select one guide from the rooting thread from mudknof*
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
yeah I know how you feel about rooting O/P but I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961406 also androidcentral.com is another good site too if you have not been their already.
Also I would look into how to un-root the htc inspire just in case if you want to go back.
I had to watch the video a couple of times but it was not to bad but I do recommend this make sure your updated I know I had to do a wifi update then your good.
But if you have your phone all set up root will rest your phone all over again contacts will be their just if you added or did anything to it. It sucks it took me like 30 mins to set everything back up lol
Ok, I understand rooting gives you access and you have to downgrade your phone for rooting and then get a custom rom to pyt to a rooted current or future version. Am I right?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Well from what I read on roms, roms will give you customs look and some better features I have not added and Roms yet really just wanted to remove bloatware Im still reading about Roms and how to install them...Also I was just reading through the steps about rooting I think by far bubbys root is the easiest way to root.
lol I ask a lot of ?s ha http://forum.androidcentral.com/inspire-rooting-roms-hacks/88094-rom-t-stock-rom-sense-unroot.html
just in case you need it.. Cause I did root back to stock..which now Im thinking about rooting today.. Just cause I dont like the bloatware but which is nice about root it gives unknown sources thats if you DL and app rather then the market place right now I use Side Load Wonder Machine its a pain to go through the pc but unknown allows you to DL 3rd party off a site. but other then having bloatware removed and having unknown sources thats all I did for rooting. Helpful hint is also looking into how to make a back up of your phone just in case something messes up.
Thank you so much for your support everyone... so one final question... what is bloatware?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
bloatware is all the pre install apps and like the blockbuster ATT nav, yelp etc. even though this is for droidX it works the same just copy and past this -----> Droid X Bloatware Removal How To Android 2.2 FroYo <-------- in youtube and its the 1st, or you can use titanium backup Pro to freeze the bloatware which makes the OS of the phone think its not their anymore and you can unfreeze it later if you need it.. over all its to save some memory on the phone..
So how do i save all memory to my sd card before rooting?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
what do you mean memory? like in apps, pics? their is an app called app2Sd in the market https://market.android.com/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.app2sd&feature=search_result
that may help also heads up if you root you can do a back up with titanium back up and it restore your apps on that half Im not a 100% sure just google it one of the things I miss from my iphone is the itunes for backing up my apps.Still have not found a program thats like itunes for backing up apps fully and add them back if needed.
to bad you can just drag your apps to your Pc and save.. =(
But what will move my pictures and music to the sd card?

They should already be there. The phone stores that kind of stuff on the SD card, because internal storage is limited.
Inspired Ace 1.0.1¦ XDA Premium
Ok, and one more question... Where do I find the rooting program for the htc inspire? Can someone please post a link?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
for moving the pic and music I would just move it to your PC and when your doing rooting just transfer them back.
Im about to root my phone again in like 15mins Im using this again

Do a search. There's a whole thread on it somewhere around here, complete with instructions on how to do it. From what I understand it worked pretty well.
It's been a couple months since I've seen that thread though. So sorry, I don't recall which of the Sensation forums it's in.

Sorry guys this no longer works...
Ubuntu removed alot of the files needed to run it on a phone off of their website which is why you are getting the errors on the script to try and install it.
Recapped:
Here's what I mean the website the script is going to to get the files no longer exists...
Heres an example to see for yourself: http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports....9-4_armel.deb
I will try and find a new link to plug in but for now it DOES NOT WORK!
Thank you for your patience on the thread,

I want to intigrate an aroma installer into a Rom. How do I do this.
Thank you

PS. Always search before posting.

Are you a developer? No offense, but it's very complicated, you'd need a lot of experience.
Sent from my Evita
Wouldn't consider my self one. Don't want to build one from scratch. There are downloadable ones on xda just want to know how to intigrate it
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
To be honest, you have a lot of reading to do. Firstly, aroma can be very tricky. You'll also need to know how to build/edit a ROM in order to execute it properly. Search Google for some guides.
Sent from my Evita
Have searched and don't find what I want. Is there an easy way
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
No, there isn't an easy way. If you don't know Android code you won't be able to.
What are you trying to accomplish? In what way do you want to change Cleanrom?
Sent from my Evita
to make it more customizeable. mabe add nova launcher and a couple of other apps. is tthere any way of removing the aroma that comes standard with cleanrom
You don't need an aroma installer to add those apps though, you can just install them after the ROM boots, or you can add them to the zip before you flash.
Sent from my Evita
Unless you intend on flashing this ROM again and again, or sharing your work, I don't see a point in even integrating the apps into the ROM.
Just install the apps. Backup the apps with Titanium if you think you will be flashing the ROM frequently.
I think you are making this a lot more complicated than need be.
If the goal is to tinker around, and learn how to develop, than use the XDA site search and start reading. There are several guides on how to cook ROM, setup AROMA, etc.
Get that alot. I am a beginner and will readily take as much advice as I can get.

So there's really no simple way to do this. I have the otapkg.zip in my phone but it's only 2.57 kb. Could it be a failed download? I got a message that HTCdm stopped working earlier. Sorry for the noobish question, even after a year on android in not all that familiar.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
It doesn't seem all that difficult to me. As long as you're SuperCID and s-off it should be simple. Did you read the whole thread? There's nothing I can really tell you here that hasn't already been said there. Your simplest option is the RUU.
Sent from my Evita
Yea I read pretty much all of it, I'm completely stock so I'm not sure what amount applies. The only reason I was trying to get around manually downloading it is that my horrible internet connection at home which makes it a full day of downloading.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Either way, you're gonna have to download it somehow. The RUU is the easiest way. If you ever want to modify your phone though it must be done before taking this update because the current exploit has been patched in the update. You'll get a much better experience on a custom ROM but that's entirely up to you.

Could be. Delete it and try to check for the update again.
I tried that and deleting the data on the Google services framework too, got nothing. So I guess this weekend I'll do the ruu.
