Help on installing new custom themes on inspire 4g - HTC Inspire 4G

Hi, guy. I'm new to android, inspire 4g is my first smartphone. I spent a tone of time learn how to root, radio s-off, sim-unlock my device. I used the "hackerize-ace" package V9. I'm currently using 【rom】 Android Revolution 4G 3.2, 【bootloader】 ace-hacker SHIP-S-Off(something like this), 【clockworkmod recovery】 3.0.0.6 (something like this) 【software version】2.2.1 . I'm having a hard time trying to install a new theme for my phone, can anyone help me out? provide me with more detailed steps? Thank you very much. If you need more information in order to help, please let me know.

What kind of trouble are you having? What is happening when you try to flash the theme? I am assuming you have flashed the rom then a full reboot then flash the theme.

ummm, I flash the rom, then reboot device, then use rom manage to install(in recovery). But, the theme did not appear the same as post. And some places, like the phonebook/contacts list looked mess up.

For your contact list, sounds like a font provlem. Your best bet would be to ask the theme dev.

Make sure you are installing the 1.84 version of whatever theme you choose. That may be your problem.

Thanks, let me try and see if it work or not.

Well you would probably want to flash back over your original rom and then the new theme. Its not necessary but some themes theme more stuff then other and you might get some mixing. Wiping dalvik helps also but is also not necessary.
For instance some times theming goes into other app like facebook but your new theme my not if you then flashed the new theme the face book them would still be there. Sometimes this can produce nice results and sometime not so much.
Thanks for the help I appreciate it didn't wanta do it with out at least checking the forums first

Do I need to flash to stock?

I flash my phone to a new rom, but I decided I didnt want to keep it. Do I need to flash to stock in order to install another rom?
Thanks
No just find another rom you want and flash that. Follow the right step you'll be fine.

awesome, I'm going in clockwork recovery selecting the new rom zip and installing!
Make sure you follow the directions outlined in each of the ROM's specific threads. I'm sure most of them require you to clear the previous ROM before installing a new one, if not all of them.
I would like to clear it actually before installing the new one. How can I do this?
Try this:

Read up and it will become clearer as you go. I know that sounds easier than it is.

nah, i was going to let this one ride
Lol Thanks for your answer but maybe you don't understand I'm running miui with stable oc and all..My question wasn't if I could download Rom in our dev section I was asking if rom manager worked with flashing on phones I would like to make something if it doesn't work on our phone .
Example.
I don't know if anyone has an Acer a500 but in the market they have a premium app called Acer recovery. That APP downloads/flashes roms, recovery files, themes, kernels, fixxes, and other needs that is what I would like to do for this device.
Sorry for the confusion.

you can create whatever you like, it has been tried before, but the de-facto happens to be rom manager.
i would go out on a limb by saying that 85% of flashing is done via downloading the rom zip to the phone and booting into recovery. its kind of what people have been bred to do at this point. rom manager doesnt work well every time, so creating something unique would be a hard niche to snag
Yea I agree I use Rom manager only for a couple of roms back with the incredible but all ways wanted something else.. that I can grab links from the net. Id like to do an app that would do webhosting with updated regularly updated Roms, kernels, radios, themes you know how it is checking xda and Rom manager for stuff it gets tedious and would be great for a app that gives u everything with a push of the button of course is have to find help for such an app great idea ill start development as soon as I can.

Got to agree with PG. I even tell people that use certain rom's to avoid rom manager as it doesn't always work. As for another app of this sort, the hard part is getting the Dev to update it. Mainly sense you can't just add everything without asking permission from each of the dev for the rom, theme, kernel, ext.

[RUU][DEVS ONLY][For Porting] HTC Pico [Sense 3.5][Android 2.3.5][Sense Zero]

Found this while searching around google. It's a leaked RUU for the HTC Pico "explorer" which is a light version of Sense 3.5 on android 2.3.5 or most commonly known as "sense zero". I thought I would post it up so that you'll can start porting over to the hero.
The Pico specs are rather similar to our phone so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone to port it over, it's also mdpi so no resizing will be necessary.
If you are already considering taking on this project then more than likely you already know how to setup a flashable rom from a ruu but in case you need some refreshing the following will help:
Instructions:
- dsixda kitchen will need to be installed prior to starting.
1. Run RUU and leave open
2. Type %TEMP% in your computers start menu search bar.
3. Search through the folders in there with the long names with numbers and letters, you'll find a zip file named "rom.zip" in there.
4. Place the rom.zip in the original_update folder located in the "kitchen" directory
5. From there follow the steps on the kitchen menu to setup the rom.
6. Then proceed to porting to the hero. :]
- Download Pico RUU
Credits to capychimp for posting the leak up.
I'll check it out

Also, just a heads up, this thing may be running a new kernel, so it might not boot on first port with any of the kernels currently available to us. Someone good with kernels should be able to help out if this is the case?
Good looking out Flash. I'm actually going to try this ( which is laughable) .this phone just goes to show that the HTC hero is still perfectly capable of keeping up with android even with sense UI. Thanks to the devs and good luck to all.

I'm actually in the process of getting one off of my employer, they lend out old refurbished phones they have in storage in case our personal phones need replacing or what not. I already submitted a report claiming my phone is having some problems, so hopefully by Tuesday I should have a hero again for a bit.
Most people go for some of the newer phones they have in stock but I asked for a hero specifically lol. They're really cool about trying to get you the phone you ask for and since no one asks for heros anymore I'm pretty sure they'll loan me one. =]
Thanks for the offer though griffin, if for some reason I don't get the phone I'll let you know to see if we can work something out.

Have you checked the log of the flash process? Maybe there's something going wrong with the installation.
Do the following:
1. Flash rom
2. Right after the rom flashes start up an adb shell
3. followed by: cat /tmp/recovery.log > /sdcard/recovery.log
This will copy the recovery log to your sdcard. Check it to see if there's anything wrong with the installation. If everything looks correct then more than likely it's the kernel. I unfortunately have no experience with kernels, maybe jaybob will see this and help out?

Message from AT&T to update Rom! rooted, unlocked bootloader

Ok people, Here is a couple of Questions for you. My AT&T One X is rooted with an unlocked bootloader however, I am running a stock Rom. I just started getting this AT&T message that is giving me the option to update my software. But! It gives me a choice of 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8 hours to remind me if I do not do it now. If I let the update happen, will it crash my phone? Will it take out my root? Permanently ?? I am afraid to update because I have been reading that AT&T has been trying to fix their back door.
Also, How can I stop the reminder from coming back???

If you haven't installed an custom recovery you would need to with this tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26528640
Getting links.
Then CleanROM 2.5 SE (stock debloat performance and battery mods)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26119274
Or CleanROM Lite (very slim speedy rom mostly everything stripped out install own apps from market)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27048708
And then kernal from (general consensus is 1.82 is the best for performance and battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26933428
And finally a radio from (will have to try them and find out which works best for you with data speed and signal)

I made this from mobile app. Had to edit to add links, lol.

I will do that. I have to get up early for work so I will be back on tomorrow night. One last thing though, you said to flash the Rom then the Kernal? I thought the Kernal came first.
Oh and what if I flash the Kernal without updating to the new Rom? The reason I'm asking is that My wife has the same phone However hers is Rooted but not BL un-locked. so if I flash just the Kernal would it work? Then, would it solve the AT&T reminders to upload their Rom?
Sorry for all the Questions, Gary
These kernals are recovery flashable. Meaning from CWM so ordet doesn't matter, technically the Rom will flash a kernel, but some users say one is better than another so just throwing out options. I don think there is a way to get rid.of.the notification unless you could.freeze the updater app with something like titanium backup, or go custom Rom route.

I want to thank you for the recomending this Rom it all went in beutifully! I ended up flashing my wifes phone also.
Today AT&T sent us messages that stated that there would be no more reminders and that if we did not choose to update they would update anyway. So I shut down the phones until I got off work and took out our access cards then turned off Wi-Fi. Finnally when I could this afternoon I started flashing.
Nice, I'm glad it worked out for you. CleanROM lite is nice too, if you want a leaner Rom.

I have flashed two custom ROMs now and both have been glitchy and slow. (stuttering, freezes, FCs, etc)
I found my original nandroid from just barely post unlock/root, and restored it. I'm on 1.7x and would like to stay that way if at all possible.
Does anyone know what to freeze in TiBa in order to get this to stop? I just want to stay on stock/rooted for right now.

Try cleanrom now, you need to give it a day to build up caches, but it was rebuilt on a more stable Rom.

So if I have 1.73 rooted with bootloader unlocked. Can i just install clean rom to update to 1.85? or do i first have to update? If i have to update first is it better to use the Peter's guide post or can i just use bootkeeper and to the ota update?
Thanks!
