i already converted to the Sense 3.0 mms. this is in RC2
that RUU that is linked in that thread is the exact same RUU this rom is based on.
i dont have the problem any more, so it makes it kind of hard to troubleshoot or fix something i dont have...

Last I checked they had not but Ill look again. Thanks.
I can't stand that stupid method. Can't they just develop a GUI like setcpu that's so much easier to use?
Try going to the DHD thread for Android Revolution and find any post by Sybregunne. He made a gui program called Daemon Controller. Works great. The download link is in his signature.

It won't be true ics until a new kernel is built for our device. The port will have to use a gb kernel and some files as well. That would make it a hybrid. Wait for CM9 like he said.

i dont care if its perfect i just want some ics to mess with until cm9 is out
Different audio driver, different kernel, same fail in a port. Might try again but I doubt it will work.
Seems like they got it working on the desire hd,very similar op ,sys and i think all u would have to do is,change boot.img ,edit build.prop and add tdj kernal and are propritary files and we might just have something,i know i make it sound easy, but i know it isnt that easy gaz, like i
Said i tryed it myself on another port and couldnt get it working, but since these phones have alot in common it might just work,im not home right now so i cant try it,when i get home tonight i might try again, gaz keep us posted,i know if any one can do it u can!!!!

There is a port for desire s also if that helps
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
as i have stated in the "progress of ICS" or whatever thread, the G2 seems like they almost have a bootable ICS rom (i believe made from source, got to check again). so a port of that would be good as well
I found a link to Koush's Nexus S ICS build. I hope this helps the MT4G devs. I wish I knew more about porting and compiling.

Search, read, try, learn. The info is literally everywhere on this subject. Why would we need to rewrite what is already available to you?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Indeed as Pirate said. Not 1 person here just magically knew what to do. Most of this stuff is trial & error. The reading is to get you going in the right direction for what your trying to accomplish. Although you with find some step by step guides. Try different things and see the outcomes. One thing of advice. Always keep backups of what your editing and track what your doing in case you need to reproduce something such as an error your trying to fix. Anyways good luck!
I should restate my question. I understand that stuff is there, and I have found it, but I'm wondering what would be easy to make for a first time Rom. Like should I start with sense, or should I do stock. And wich version of android should I try out first

Start with modifying what your phone is running. Learn how to decompile and compile apks, smali edit, and understand the XML layout and structure of android. Unless you have a device that is supported by aosp you won't be building anything for stock android. At least until there is source and proprietary blobs available for your current device.

As of right now, what is holding us back from porting gingerbread to our sidekicks? Is it drivers? Or a 2.3 kernel that runs? I need a list of what needs to be done exactly.
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557094
And, here:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/22310-wipcm7-for-sidekick-4g/
Hope that helps!
Thank you, but I've seen both of those and followed them to the end. I'm looking for a specific list of what is needed to port gingerbread to our device. As in i may take up the task of porting it
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA
Would probably be a good idea to continue where windixxi left off since hes the closest person to get ginger working on our phone.
i think i remember Sduvick explaining that the drivers for this device are not exactly generic, so we really need an official Gingerbread kernel from Samsung. i'm pretty sure he tried porting a gb kernel from another device, but without updated drivers for the SK4G, it was basically impossible. that's how i understand it anyway.
Thank you yogi for the info and yes pintek im aware of windxixi great work but i cant figure out his github at all. Its not labeled well.. so more or less its a drivers issue?

Basically? That's what I understood as well.
So instead of trying to port drivers we would have to write new drivers in theory since we don't have a source to build from?

Thanks for the reading orange. Gave me the idea that the kernel is going to have to be a makeshift mix and match type thing from kernels from multiple phones.

I agree.
As mentioned previously, maybe windixxi can provide some insight as well.
You're probably going to need some experience and knowledge of coding (i.e. C, Python, Java) and access to a Linux rig of some sort as well..

I recommend installing a hard drive specifically for your Linux environment and using the bios to switch between your boot OS.
But, I also have Ubuntu installed inside of VirtualBox. It's a bit slow, but it works inside of Windows.
so awesome that Samsung are such *****es about this haha
Sounds like i may be in need of a better computer. Ill see what i can do with what i have and start looking into kernels with stuff we need

I might try that to get me back into the groove of things, things are going slow with classes though so nobody should get their hopes up yet. But if i manage to buil an oc/uv kernel sucessfully, then my next project will be working on a gingerbread kernel. Ill keep you guys posted in the weeks to come.

If you (or other SK4G developers) are interested, I may be able to arrange a build server.
As in a place to host the kernels we build?
