[Q] Bad Displayreaction while Charging - HTC One S

Hey Guys,
since two days my HOS shows a strange behavior. Everytime i charge the phone the Display reacts realy bad to my Inputs. Where i normaly swype (like to unlock) it just recognizes a tap. When i am in a menu it scrolls slow, or thinks my scrolling is actually a tap and enters a submenu.
Does anyone else got this problem?
I am on Trickydroid 1.0 at the Moment (Base is 1.70.)
Had the same with UTB 1.0.6. (Base is 1.64.)
Any suggestions or ideas?
Reboot while charging only helps for a few moments. Thought that the CPU was doing something in the background but the cpu is pretty much idle...

The Sensation had a similar problem when plugged in, I think it may be a grounding issue. Make sure you are using the official HTC cube and cable, & also plugged into a grounded outlet (surge protector)

Well thanks for the hind. Will check it out. Using my galaxy s charger at the moment...

I think I may also have this problem. Was trying to use phone while charging it, and couldn't figure out why it wasn't recognizing input right. I thought it was a digitizer issue. But now that I unplugged it I'm not experiencing this at all. Is this a device specififc problem? If so I might return mine and get a new one.

[Help?]Screen issues?

Recently, my touchscreen has been playing up.
When typing or carrying out different tasks, my device starts 'touching' its own screen anyware on the left hand side - removing my ability to use it. The screen is clean and I've tried 3 different ROMs including stock.
Has anyone had this screen issue or has anyone got a solution?
My phone is useless because of this issue!
Thanks,
Crwblyth
It's a long-shot, but is this happening when phone is plugged into a cheap unofficial charger? These have been shown to sometimes send touch screens mental.

Never used anything but the HTC original charger.
Similar looking problem, but not due to my charger!

Unfortunately it sounds like it needs to go off for repair. Contact HTC and see what they say. Not sure if you should return your phone to stock ROM and s-on etc first though.

Crazy sensation

Hi,
I have an horrible problem! Sometimes my phone became crazy. I will try to explain better. If I enable "show touches" in developer option the result is that in the screenshot. There are a lot of touches on the same side but I don't press anything. Sometimes also after a lot of these touches that side of the screen doesn't work for some minutes, or for hours or for days. I don't find any correlation. At the beginning it happened only with the connection to the PC, or under charge and stop. Now it happens also without connections between one and the other times. I have tried to change rom, firmware ecc ecc... How can I do? Does someone know what is the problem? I don't understand!
Sounds like a damaged touch screen. Warranty?

I sent it to HTC a mounth ago. They said "we have to change a BOARD becouse you have changed software". The price to repair it was 180€ so I said no. But I think they didn't check anything on the phone only because the rom is not the official rom.
EDIT: there is also another problem. I do not know if it is a hardware problem because for weeks the phone works perfectly, then suddenly doing so. Sometimes when it is charging from a bit of time begins to do this problem, then just take it in hand the problem vanishes. Maybe it's a problem of electric charge but I tried the solutions in the thread "touchscreen problem" and no successes.

Phone may act weird when connected to charger. Connect it and then try using it for a while and see if it acts weird.

Yes, also my phone usually acts weird when charge. But now also when it doesn't charge. Yesterday I couldn't use the phone, this morning it works nice... I don't know how can I do

Look at the thread on touchscreen not working.
Might be a problem with the grounding points under the cover.

I tried it already. I don't see differences with the aluminum foil or raising the pin

[Q] [HELP] Scrolling Problem

last night, my phone was overheating. and then i'm trying to cool it down by putting it in front of a fan. when i use my phone, my scrolling is error. it stops when my thumb/fingers is not touching ( do you get it ? :silly: ) . on a normal phone, the screen keeps scrolling even if my finger/thumbs not touching and slow down until stops. but not with my phone. it just stops without slowing down...
can anyone help me ? :fingers-crossed:
sorry for my bad english
Try restarting??
And JB has higher inertia while scrolling. That means if you scroll lightly, it will stop very fast, unlike Gingerbread 2.3.x.
Also, a possible cause might be that you were charging. XL has a slightly aberrant scrolling response while charging, most likely due to the interference caused by the charging battery.
Yes. It worked
Btw, how did you know that xperia L has problem with charging?

Hi!
I noticed this problem with mine too. I was charging my phone and using it on Facebook. Scrolling worked fine but when mi finger was on the screen (just touching the screen, no scrolling), the image went up and down. It looked like the screen didn't know what to do.
But I was not using the charger given in the box, I was using an older one given with my Xperia Mini Pro from 2011.
When I use the charger given in the box, there is no problem.
I've seen this problem on X10 Mini Pro too.

I don't know where it comes from, sorry.
as far as I know, it happens with all chargers. But maybe it just escapes attention sometimes? The charging battery affects the capacitive touchscreen response.

When I saw this "problem" I let the phone charging with my "older" charger. But when it was finished, I tried it with the new one. I went on every application that need to scroll but all was right.
It may be something with electricity quality, like speakers which have interference... (That's just an idea)
yeah. It happens only sometimes. I suspect when the phone draws considerable charge from battery, and the battery from the charger, resulting in higher electromagnetic interference.

[Q] Erratic Ghost Touches

Has anyone had a problem with their nexus 5 where the screen would randomly start pressing things? It usually happens multiple times and is very erratic. Contacted Google and will send back for a replacement just wondering if anyone else is having this issue.
Yap, me too.
Had it a while back but it seems to have stopped.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Never anything like that but what I have done a few times is my palm touches the bottom right of the screen when I reach for the top left corner while right handing it. Coming from an iPhone so I guess it took a bit to get used to the larger screen
I requested for a replacement to Google Play this morning. They send it this evening. I should
get my replacement early next week. Good service I would say.
I'm glad I'm not going crazy! This is happening to me too! Is there any way to resolve this without having to go through the RMA process?
Only While Charging
I'm getting some erratic touch behavior, but only when the phone is charging. I take it off the charger and it seems fine.
I'm not getting total phantom behavior, but when I swipe from home screen to home screen, sometimes an app will get activated. Same with pulling down the notification area.
It makes me think there's a charge leaking through to the display components somehow.
I'm going to give it a week and then RMA it if it doesn't go away.
I have it too
I have it too but only when I connect my USB to the computer...
It's sucks cos I'm an app developer...
Is there any fix for that?

Sounds like a dodgy USB cable or port.
Same issues with my Nexus 4
I notice my issue is mostly when my phone is charging or when I'm using my mobile hotspot. Tends to get extra warm when im using both. Which leads me to believe its an overheating issue (the heat is throwing off the digitizer causing it to maybe think its being touched?) Is anyone else noticing the same?
Yes, but only while on wireless charger and even then only sometimes.
I take it off, push power button twice and it's gone.
I'm also experiencing this if my Nexus 5 is charging using the original Wall charger and cable.
Still no fix for this? Really annoying, I need to unplug my phone to the charger so that I can use it again normally
Same issue here

Keeps going into car mode...

My M8 for the past week has been entering car mode for no apparent reason. Could it be there is something wrong with the USB port on the phone or something else?
It's the charger/cable you're using. My M8 does it as well with a cable (that's a power-only cable, no data pins) I use to charge my phone from my PC with. I've had 4 replacement M8s (all for separate hardware issues) and they all did the same thing on the same cable. It hasn't done it with any of the other several chargers I use at home. But when it does to it on that one cable, it only seems to do it when I try to use any demanding apps/games while plugged in. It won't do it if I'm just poking around the launcher or browser.
Mine is happening when not plugged in also.

Ahh, well then yeah, I would have to say there's definitely some hardware issue with your USB port then.
Yup, my phone is screwed its stuck in car mode, tried everything. Is there a way to edit a system file to completely disable it? Replacing phone is not an option for me.

I've tried disabling/freezing anything with the word "car" in it in Titanium Backup to no avail on my M8, it still does it with that same cable. When it does it and the "Car Mode Enabled" notification shows up in the notification shade, I can long-press it and go to app info, where it takes me to "Android System", so it appears to have hooks deep into the Android OS and something you can't really disable. This Xposed module may have some options to disable it or at least keep it from being so invasive if you're rooted.
But I guarantee you that you can get the phone replaced under warranty, even if you have it S-Off'd/unlocked, because I have done it. Unless your phone is physically damaged..? But even then, they may not charge to repair the USB port or motherboard if that's the only issue. Can't hurt to ask HTC.
I seem to have "fixed" it by plugging it in about 20-30 times and violently yanking out the cable... Not sure how long this fix will last since looking into the port I seen nothing wrong with any of the pins or any contaminants in there, also high pressure air didn't work.

I had exact same issue. It is debris stuck in the port. Get some computer duster or air compressor and it will clear it up
Nice
Hey you guys need to go to app manager then swipe to (all) under that you should disable dock mode and car mode then reboot. Should fix problem for live. Some magnets and other objects will toy with the sensors in your phone expecially the ones by the USB connector
I've been having this problem too. The Car app and Daydream would randomly open and close. I've just performed a hard reset and it appears to have fixed the problem.
----------UPDATE 3 DAYS LATER.....
So a hard reset has not fixed this. The car app did not open for a couple of days but I have had the loud speaker turning on every time I answer a call. I've just used my earphones with the phone for the first time since I performed the hard reset and now the car app is opening again. I've tried to clean out the 3.5mm socket but its not making a difference. It seems strange that the hard reset did kind of fix it until the earphone socket was used. Now I really don't know if it's a hardware or software issue!
I had the same issue with my M8 unlocked version. Also had the problem where the speakerphone would go on and off during calls and some other issues but now since updating to the newest HTC build with Android 5.0 I haven't noticed anything.
Could it be that HTC were aware of these issues and have now fixed them?
Have any of you had progress with the new update or are the issues still apparent?
Will update later when I have had more time to test the new software out but as of now it looks like its fixed.
Mine just started doing this tonight too.. no matter what kind of cable gets plugged in to it, it goes into car/ docked mode and turns my wifi on, and rotates all around when I don't want it to. It's VERY annoying. I tried doing a factory reset on it and it's still doing it when I plug a charger in. It also is doing it just randomly when no cable is plugged in.
I'm wondering if a lot of people are having this issue recently, if it was something in one of the recent updates to the HTC service pack sent out by HTC via the Play Store. Anyone know???
Well, so much for that update...
After almost exactly a week without any problems it started acting up again this morning. In and out of carnode. Guess I'll just make use of my warranty and send it in for service.
yep.. me too. Did a reset and was working fine for about a week and just started doing it again today. WTF.
This was happening to me back in the fall. IIRC, my fix was to clean out the charging port. Look for how-to on web. I think the problem is some crossed pins with dirt making the phone think it's plugged in to dock.

My phone just started doing this on the 5th.
It also rotates when it's not supposed to? It is so annoying and idk what to do. Is this a. HTC issue or what?

I had my phone sent in for service and it turned out to be a faulty speaker. They swapped it and I haven't encountered any of the problems I had prior to sending it in.
How the speaker was interfering with the operating system I have no idea, my best guess it was shorting out something but it's just a theory.
phone keeps entering car mode
I have had this issue and completely fixed it, on your phone find car mode, scroll down to a hidden settings menu, in settings disable auto dock mode, auto connect, in fact disable everything, then exit car mode using the exit button. Restart your phone and hopefully it never enters car mode again and charges normally.
I had this issue for months and bought a new phone that I didn't like so came back to the HTC and eventually fixed it.
This is the flex USB cable. They go bad and cause car mode / dock mode like this. The cable itself is $14 and you likely will be replacing the sticker speaker grills which are $11. I have personally repaired this and it is the only permanent fix. Not disabling an app. Not removing an app. This failure is due to hardware and hardware only.
BTW.... way to dig up an old thread lol.

I have this issue since three days and it's driving me mad.
Tried all the suggested solutions and nothing worked so far.
I've ordered a new USB flex cable with charge dock pcb. I'll be sure to post my experiences with that, hope it fixes this annoying issue as Dottar suggested
