Would editing the build.prop values perhaps stop the bug? or possibly add reception?
I have been looking around and in the amaze forum there is a thread that claims that editing some of these values can boost speed so that got me thinking...what do you guys think is this far fetched?
Plz post the link i will try

the build.prop setting depends on the ROM your using...
didnt work for me it involved changing the value of the fast dormancy rule.
others say it works, Maybe my phone is faulty ?
As azzledazzle wrote, I'm one of those the fast dormancy cancellation in the build.prop did the trick and made my phone available much more minutes than before.
Fast dormancy works differently on different providers, or not at all on some. Trial and hopefully not too much error

How many ROMS have GPU acceleration enabled. Im running Android Revolution atm and I understand now how powerful GPU can be. I see virtually no lag in browser even in the longest website while doing pinch to zoom. Are there any other ROMS that have this kind of smoothness in browser? Let me know!!!
Question 2: My mytouch 4g lasts a while on a single charge. I browse for 2 hours andplay music 1 hour everyday and with wifi on about 5-6 hours I get 24-28 hours of battery on Mytouch. With Sensation Im barely getting 15 hours.
Whatever special features a rom has will be mentioned in the changelog or rom info page.
Although you didn't ask a second question, i'll assume you meant to ask if the battery life can be improved? I'd suggest flashing Bricked kernel (usually comes with ARHD) and not overclocking. Also turn data off when you're not using it...if you need longer battery life, i'd suggest buying an Evo 3D battery (fits the Sensation but more capacity) or purchasing a 1900 ma Ankar battery.
Hit Thanks if i've helped
In regards to your first question, you can actually enable GPU acceleration on ANY ROM by adding this line to your build.prop:
debug.sf.hw=1
These next two lines will help with smoothness:
video.accelerate.hw=1
debug.performance.tuning=1
Bada bing! Hope this helps
EDIT: Not sure if a stock kernel will work with these tweaks.. also, you MUST have a rooted device as you cannot edit the build.prop otherwise!

That is SO AWESOME!!! So wait what are the limitations for this tweak? Can this be used in Single core devices like Mytouch 4g or like Incredible or other phones in general?
Like the title states- since the Auto-brightness requires a constant running of scripts/ working of sensors, how does it effect battery life in general? Running on Insertcoin 4.4.8 at the moment, and noticed the sensor detects changes way more than the previous versions.
Just a query- an informative answer would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Tony

I've read numerous posts that auto-brightness kills more batt, more or less for the reasons you stated. I therefore stopped use auto, rather set it at a certain level and batt improved..
Sent by my feau gee
I also stopped using auto but only as a ROM I'd been using started to "flicker" the screen. I eventually sussed this was due to the phone getting the light levels wrong, since then I've always gone for a manual setting.
EDIT: Oops Off Topic a little, I guess auto could help with battery life as the main drain on the phone is the screen. However, since trying ICS the battery is less of an issue than it was.
Ive always used auto brightness and never had issues. Only time i dim it is at night when driving.

True that the main drain is the screen. But with the 'Auto' constantly using the light sensors, I doubt it'd be better for the battery than a constant value. Definitely not the highest brightness setting though. But come to think about it, even the highest setting may use up lesser power than on Auto.
Im sorry to hi-jack this thread but does anyone know where to find the auto-brightness values so i can modify the values to make the screen a bit dimmer, especially in the dark i find the screen far too bright.
Thanks
EDIT: Looking for the values in ICS Rom. Thanks
There used to be a fix for this in GB-roms, but I'm not sure if it has come to ICS yet..

I have searched this site but all i can find is how to mod the values in GB-roms. The file (arrays.xml) is located in framework-res/res/values. I have looked around in the framework-res of my ICS rom but that folder does not exist!
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Get Widgetsoid from the market - set custom brightness levels and swap between them with one click via a custom widget, I set steps for 1%, 20%, 30% and auto.

ICS its in com.htc.resources.apk
I have an Inspire and I'm getting slow speeds. I'm on unlimited HSPA+ plan and have the correct sim.
What can I do to get better HSPA+ speeds? Currently I'm getting around 2 down.
Thanks!
Maybe that is as high as you can go in your area.

My iPhone 4S gets better speeds though. I thought there was a way to root it to make it faster such as fgd radio?
It's not the rado. It's the build.prop that enables the faster speeds. And I would have thought with the gingerbread addition it would have been enabled by default.
But sure you can root it and install a custom ROM made for better speed (all of them) or adjust the build.prop yourself. To root use Advanced Ace Hack Kit. It is stickied so it shouldn't be hard to find.

Thanks how to I adjust the build.prop? I tried to search online but can't find any step by step info.
There is a recent thread in the development section.

I'm curious about the download speeds as well. Whichever rom I've used the max download speed I've been able to achieve has been 2up, 1down. I've even edited the build prop and played around with it for a day, didn't see any significant changes.
Rebooted the phone twice after making the changes, etc..... question is, did i need to leave the changes for a day or two or even more to see if it actually helped?
On the other hand I have a couple of friends that work installing the towers (or whatever you call those things that gives us data) - in a nutshell, they say that the download speeds is hardware related and not software (they know nothing of rooting phones).... that kinda confused me more than my usually state of mind.
Sent from a dream.
Its true to an extent. For example our phones is capable of 14.4 mbps. And say the tower is a 48mbps. Our phones is limited to what its hardware capable but you can do software tweaks to optimize it to reach its Max. This is where builprop edits and apn settings can make a difference

How do they work? Like how can you tweak for better performance and what kinda gains is it possible to get really? I know this sounds general but I was jw.
Written with a "Vengeance" by my S3.
You can change a lot of things, i.e. Hsdpa/hsupa, the gprsclass which pretty much tells the phone how much bandwidth/slots it can use. Devs will say 3/4g tweaks when all they do is change the dns lol so dont buy into it full hearted.
You dont really see a speed increase but its more of a optimization. Doing some tweaks will make the connection more stable and constant. As for doing them you would add specific lines and values to your build.prop file in the /system dir.

Hi,
Did anyone follow this thread to optimize CPU and battery life?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-advanced-interactive-governor-t3269557
Did you get nice results?
I want to try it on my phone. But I am a little bit lost.
Thanks.
I haven't tried above, but I can share my thoughts:
1. That thread is for Nexus+AOSP, params might not work for Mi4+MIUI.
2. If you wanna try those params on CM, I wonder what's the point. CM is already well optimized. Even with best kernel parameters, you'll never see a difference of night and day.
Is there something specific that you want to focus on for your device?
More battery life. But muy highest problem is mobile radio active bug... Any help?
