Rating ROM functionality - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I was wondering if anyone would find it useful if we had a rating system for ROM functionality so people could have a better understanding of what they are getting into before they flash. Too many times reading post about new ROM's it appears that all is working then much later posts start showing up talking about missing stuff like bluetooth, BLN, no LTE etc. I was thinking it would be awesome for ROM's to be rated to save headaches. These ICS leaks are hardly ready for primetime when compared to GBread.

Man you new guys really hate reading don't you normally when bugs arise they are in the op if its not in the op then 1 its common problem shared by all roms of that version or user error and with a spike in you new guys most of its user error you don't need a rating system you need to rtfm

I have no problem reading through hundreds of posts to see if something is missing or broken, I have read post where everything seemed to be okay only to find out the people posting had no use for LTE in their area and so it was not a concern for them. Whereas for me that was huge. My post was just a question that all don't need all that rtfm.

Sorry I'm with nrm on this one. Flashing roms and having bugs comes with the territory. You can't expect to flash it and have it work perfectly, you should be willing to troubleshoot and solve problems. If not, then u honestly shouldn't be flashing custom roms in the first place.

If someone is having an LTE issue wouldn't that more of a radio than rom thing?
You can't always pin issues to the ROM. Issues seem to stem from installation procedures or from certain apps that are restored. Not to mention some apps just don't play well with ICS.
Lots of variables and as said, actual bug issues are listed in the thread.

I hear you loco, I was fortunate enough to pick a rock solid GBread based ROM, with no issues for me. Guess I was thinking of the less experienced who would like to jump into the deep side of the ROM pool. It shouldn't be sink or swim but I feel what everybody is saying. Thanks for ya'll input. QED.

This isn't going to end well, so lets nip it in the bud now. As is probably on all the forums there is no most/best/awesomemest etc. Its all subjective on what a person likes or dislikes does or doesn't do. I can say black ice, but the next person says AR, then the next says something else until you essentially have all the roms listed from the Dev section.

You don't even have to read a lot of posts, you read maybe one or two pages at the most and you'll find out, for instance absolution(the only Rom I use on my inspire) is extremely stable for me and is perfect for my needs but it may not be the same for you it may not work for you, you may prefer sense, so really its all personal preference. Threads like these get closed all the time because they're unnecessary since most of the roms in this forumare plenty stable except the ones that say they are betas and have things that don't work. There is that a good enough answer for you? Because that's exactly what that picture says. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I guess maybe you guys have more going on here with your roms then the epic touch community has atm.. there are probably 3 or four roms that ppl would agree on being the more stable and bug free roms....that may not be the case here, but like I said im out on vacation and was just hoping for a way to find something to fix my nieces phone before I head out home tomorrow. Either way I looks I'll just have do some searching of my own when I get back from the beach....best regards and sorry for being that guy to post a subjective question

Why do you feel the need to contribute to a thread that you find redundant and super annoying? How can you possibly rationalize that?
Sticking on topic: My thread was to specifically compare the costs and benefits of trying the leaked ICS versus staying with a highly stable build.

I reverted to 100% stock (KJ2), including reflashing the KJ2 modem (which is not detailed in the main "Return to stock" thread) and then did the ICS update last night and there are 0 problems! Is it worth it??? HELL YES!!! ICS is SOO much better! Faster, better battery and I actually love the new Samsung TouchWiz updates. It's much better than I expected actually!
Works perfectly for me. I think it is worth installing, but TouchWiz still sucks. I recommend installing either nova Launcher or Apex Launcher

While you in fact continue to add to the clutter....
Complaining within a thread is not going to somehow make things better. Leave the policing to the mods. If I step out of line, fine. I'm reasonable and will listen.
But if you'd like me to abide by the very rules you're scolding me on, look above in this thread and see that everything you said has already been said. That should tell you that your post was not necessary, just adding to the clutter.

[RADIO]UCLI3 Modem

Not sure exactly what this is. I just found it submitted to DevHost. It's the new radio for the skyrocket. just the radio. I looked around, didn't see anywhere else to get just the radio to flash over UCLF6. Note: This is not mine, And it has not been tested.
SGH-I727-UCLI3-radio.zip - 21.46 MB
Why did you open a thread with something you're "not sure what it is" in Developers section?
Let's see what it is. This is a sticky INDEX thread in this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785999
Look under "RADIOS/MODEMS", second line.
You shouldn't share a dangerous for flashing stuff like modem build, untested. Reported.

I can think of 3 reasons:
1) It's already posted in the sticky in this forum
2) I'm wary on anyone posting something in the Dev section and announcing that it's completely untested. There are exceptions, but those are usually reserved for known devs (in my mind)
3) There was no work done by the OP. He found something on dev-host and just posted it here (see #1).

And this is why people don't post anything. Because people make them feel dumb about it. Then people see that and don't want to contribute. I feel bad for u man. At least u tried! I agree with some, should have looked harder. Next time when u find something that u think no one has seen. Search for it on Google. That's what I do...
Cut the guy a break, he was trying to help. It is kinda intimidating being on these message boards with over a million people. Being one amongst millions is tough and he wanted to post what he thought was a discovery. He did apologize. His post is no less important than the ones bashing his post. Let's stay on topic here. Post under where you got your download, you can't just say sorry and just clog up our threads with your issues, you don't own it you know. We all have had or have issues at times. Doesn't give you the right to just post what you want and where you want. You need to be flagged and banned!

I've said it before but it bears repeating. If you honestly don't know things like this then; you haven't done enough research, have no business flashing a somewhat experimental ROM like CM, and want to be spoonfed every answer. I cannot believe some of the people who don't think twice about flashing and don't know what to do when things go wrong. Before I flashed my very first ROM on my og droid, I knew everything about the process. Because when things went wrong I wasn't depending on someone else to hold my hand.

Its almost too easy to flash/root anything now. The era of on the edge of your seat, pushing files via adb, praying it works, but knowing exactly what you're doing, is over. It's all on click root apps now. It's a double edged sword, really. People don't take the time to read up on what they're doing, knowing they have the crutch of coming here.

I agree ever so much. I remember rooting/unlocking the thunderbolt when the first root/unlock came out. Took almost 45 mins and if you goofed a few steps your device was a brick. People thought twice back then and were more careful.
As devices get harder to brick people just do whatever and as you said will just come here for help. I have spent hours and hours breaking things just to figure out how they work. I came to this phone and released the first working 100% deodexed ROM for this phone because of it. I spent hours and hours trying to figure out why the others couldn't.
So I get a little bothered when people spend 10 mins and give up and expect help.

The thunderbolt is such a pain to root I am shocked that I didn't brick my cousin's phone. Yeah phones are much easier to root but it is also much easier to solve a lot of the issues you come across on your own. I for one won't be bothering you nosympathy or any developer with questions unless I exhaust all my options.

Dude. You could have just posted it in the thread and not made a new one...
Well he's trying to get his 10 posts. Someone who said just post in the general with thoughts was wrong. I suggest you help the community with answers to receive your 10 posts rather than spamming it with this thread that will only ly end up getting locked.

Actually yes you got through a whole process while you sign up, hopefully you read that and the video of how not be a noob. We don't wanna say you are but like it causes problems on developers and the forums if we have constant clutter with all these types of threads that can be considered useless if there have already been solves threads of the same exact problem and such. I don't wanna sound mean but I don't really enforce this, this is just the way this site it. To be honest, I actually think we won't have much people on here if it weren't for one click roots and such meaning less noobs who end up having problem for their lack of rudimentary knowledge towards the android world.

Leave the poor guy alone guys.
He just wanted to post his thoughts on the beta builds of the ROM.
There may be another thread for it, but at some point we're all beginners and learning how to use a new system (forum system in this case). Let him get his post count up and if you don't like this thread or if you insist on complaining about this thread, just let it die out and don't post your complaints here.
I agreed StrumerJohn's comment. Stay out and stop being ass on the poor guy alone.

I was never being an ass just stating something that xda expects of new users and problems that could possibly occur if things aren't read. You just need to get your things straight.

My sentiments exactly.
No, I am saying you all guys used be NOOB when we came to XDA forum to learn something new. Right? So Let's give OP a break and it's cool if someone want say it about the beta ROM. Nothing harm to anyone.
Please don't take this offense and I am not perfect grammar since my english is my secondary language.
Leave him alone guys lol, there really isn't any reason that this CAN'T be posted in General. If you think that it should be posted in the ROMs thread, that's fine, but there's no reason to team up on the poor guy about it.
I'm just glad someone's enjoying the ROM.
