Could you explain what cache.rfs and data.rfs contains?

ow...c'mon dude....you must be joking, eh?
but anyway:
Datafs.rfs....packed in .tar is usually blank....when you flash rom datafs.rfs becomes your internal memory...here you store data needed for apps....e.g dalvik-cache files mostly & system settings too(understandable enough?)
- cache.rfs is needed for playstore downloads, streaming videos music etc....
Ok?

Kyrillos' ROM (and updates?) - install guide?

Hi Kyrillos, all
Forgive me - but I can't find where on your install guide / FAQ you've shown how to install your ROM for the real starter. I'm not totally stupid and I've used Odin to install samfirmware stock Roms am now ready for your hard work and ready to donate!!
Part 1? Part 2? assume you need to join somehow.
How do you install the updates, e.g to 9.3?, assuming you haven't actually got a "one package" 9.3 version?
What is G3MOD? why and how should you install it?
etc - reallly searched and really can't find these most basic of answers
Cheers dude - B

[Q] galaxy3

hi guys i have 2 questions!
1) is there a ics theme compatible with kyrillos rom jpu 9.4 oc?
2)is there a possibility to make bln work??? (maybe stupid. i saw some files at g3mod kernel like lights.so and i was wondering if???)
every answer is acceptable!!!!
1) you found here a ICS based theme. Search for anothers in Themes section
2) ya it's that. Go to G3MOD thread here and search..if you read that you should found this:
g3mod said:
How to: BLN
This is only "needed" if you have a i5801 | i5800L or any other Galaxy 3 model with back button lights and want BLN in it.
How to install:
First, download the lights.GT-I5800.so file from google code. Then execute this commands:
adb remount (or if this doesn't work: mount -o remount,rw /dev/stl6 /system)
adb rm /system/lib/hw/lights*
adb push [Location of this file] /system/lib/hw
After that, reboot and now you have BLN working

Can it maybe be extracted from kernel?

Nope, it doesn't work. At least not for me. Maybe it has problems with JPQ.

and a CWM
CWM is clockworkmod? right?
Or am I misunderstaning something?
Why dont you just install a G3 kernel?
CWM included

I did try other kernels. But only fugumod and kyorakernel provide such speed and battery life. As kyorakernel is still wip i'm using fugumod...

well, the older G3 1.9 performance (froyo) runs also at 800Mhz by default
has cwm implemented
if you like to use another kernel than the stock one...
my second mobile ran stable with the kernel mentioned above and stock XXJPU
I could give a +1 for that combination.

I really tried many versions of G3mod. I wasn't satisfied at all. Only Nightly build (from hillbeast) had some results...
G3mod is known as battery drain kernel as now on kyrillos v10 beta even high voltage 1.3 kernel battery last forever (2 days on heavy use)

Did you find any solution about this, I would now that, becosue I have the same problem.
I have XXJPS installed on my i5800.
Use the link uploaded by deepash on page 1 but instead of using the installer, move the file names recovery (on its own, not recovery.sh or anything. JUST 'RECOVERY') to your SD card. Then using an app such as root explorer, move it to /system/bin/. This did the trick for me when the installer wouldn't work. BTW, Hillbeast told me this method

Who else would tell you... His knowledge is so big like he made g3 and all coding of it.
But I solved the problem by using astrum from moikop which has pretty nice rz recovery...

The is a version of Astrum that has CWM as well if you want to use that and i wouldn't overdo it with the praise to Hillbeast but he has made an awesome ROM.

For N7100
As all of you are knowing latest 4.3 built have new bootloader and samsung have implemented knox security.
Also note that latest leaked 4.3 (MK4) having new bootloader and it may not be downgrade.
I will update this post later for details.
If you want to use latest ROM without bootloader, you may need to use wifi patch.
Download wifi patch , extract and flash with Odin for PDA tab.
I already have mention this on one of my thread but making this separate so any bootloader related stuff can be posted at single place

Ketan, how can we upgrade (using odin) to the latest rom without bootloader?
I mean, not the mk4 leak... the official packages that will come in ONE md5 file...
How to skip bootloader?
In that case you have to either use mobile odin
Or
Need to repack rom file

Interesting..! mobile odin skips flashing bootloader, so we have to just use it and then apply your patch (wifi), right?
For repacking... do you have any quick link for some documentation about it?
I'll make some search :fingers-crossed: I'm really interested on that opportunity
You needs linux or cygwin
Simply you need to extract file with unzip, remove sboot.bin,param.bin and tz.img
Rest of file you have to repack to make odin flashable tar
Hi, I want to try out the stock rom 4.3 which has just been released. Currently i am on DN3 V2. i will be making a back up of the rom. Can i just flash the new stock rom from odin ? Is there anything i need to keep in mind ?
You have stated once a user upgrades there is no going back right ? so, can't i remove knox in the official update after i have it upgraded? plus what role does a bootloader play ? why is it important not to have the bootloader that comes along with the latest official update ?

Dr. Ketan...is param.bin and tz.img a part of the bootloader? I saw that your wifi patch contains these two.. are these from the mj5 tar package? I tried to search about tz.img and param.bin but i couldn't find much info about what exactly they do..
Any info is appreciated..

Just a quick question, I am currently running android 412 on wanamlitev3.9 and intent to ipgrade to mk4 andeve all been made aware that we need to upgrade bootloader. Looking at this thread appears that may not be the case? Just download and flash the rom and if wifi dorsnt work then flash the wifi patch. -- is that the sum of it? Bearing in mind ill still be on a old bootloader. Unless the wifi patch is a bootloader? Confused
Flash any rom without bootloader (custom) and then flash wifi patch
