I had to use CWM to restore my phone after it crashed, by booting into recovery... But I was looking this morning... And about half way down on the main Rom Manager screen... There's a " Manage backup & restore ".... When I clicked on it... There's nothing there? I can't remember if there ever was... Or more importantly if there should be?
Thanks

Nope, I see the list of my CWM backups.
Did you have ROM manager look on your internal instead of external SD-card? (or vice versa) -- go to settings, check/uncheck use external storage.
Rom manager is for fixing permissions, don't use it for anything else

If I boot into CWM, I see the list of backups, but there's nothing in Rom Manager under Backup & Restore? (on the first screen, when you first click on Rom Manager).

Its only there if you use rom manager to back things up. rom manager flashes the recovery to the emmc and stores all of its backups there. If you format emmc the manual way it will wipe out rom managers stuff, even the recovery you flashed using it.
I used the odin way of flashing cwm, and when you format emmc it totally wipes out rom managers version

I'm new to flashing ROMs on the EEE Pad, but not new to flashing ROMs in general...have a Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket that I have flashed probably 50 times alrerady. That being said...I'm confused. I rooted my tab and flashed a ROM. It looks like the flash worked because checking the version in "about" shows the new rom. The strange thing is that all the apps I had installed prior to flashing are still installed. I followed the normal steps...factory wipe, format cache, data, system. Does this make sense to anyone? It feels as if some of the rom flashed and some didn't. Any help would be appreciated.
PS...I would have posted this unter the ROM's thread but since I am new to the forum I can't until I have 10 posts.
Examples of this are pandora (including my login info)...email accounts, facebook accounts, etc
are you positive you wiped your data? if you did, everything should be gone.
Well...I ran a super wipe script that was part of the rom download now that you mention it. I'll give it another go but wipe by hand and see what happens.

aha! I bet that is it, I have heard people saying not to use the super wipe scripts. I don't know much about it but I'm nearly positive that's the problem.
it may also depend on if you are using the full wipe which does internal memory or the light which i believe leaves your apps untouched

You cant use superwipe if you got a recovery that only reads from internal memory (/mnt/sdcard/), as superwipe will also wipe your rom file, leaving you with nothing to flash.

oh so that's the only reason? not because it doesn't work right or something?
Btw does the Rogue CWM let you backup/restore from a USB External Drive? or just /Remoable/MicroSD/ ?

As far as I know, yes thats the only reason.
The version Im using only allows internal (/mnt/sdcard/) and external (/removable/microsd), there might be some version that allows USB as well, but I doubt it tbh.
Thanks for the responses...I figured I would skip the superwipe and just do it all by hand. All good, but ran into a new problem. Apparently I don't have the option for mounting an external SD card. It's installed and when booted into the OS I can see it and everything, but the mount option is missing from clockwork recovery. This is both with the touch version (5.8.1.8) and the non-touch version (5.5.0.4). Luckily the manual wiping didn't clear out the internal SD card so I was able to just restore my nandroid backup.
A - anyone have issues with the "mount sd-card" missing in CWR?
B - Apparently the tablet version of ICS installs apps to the internal SD card so doing a wipe doesn't really clear out all the apps. Does that sound right?
Both those CWM versions does not support external SD card afaik. Only internal.
That would be why then I guess. Doh! I'll check around but I didn't see newer versions that worked with the tf 101. Thanks for the reply!

I use cwm 5.0.2.7 [via RecoveryInstaller.apk], and I have had no problems, I can mount my MicroSD
I wanna clean my phone and get a fresh rom install and I wanted to know is there effective way of cleaning the internal SD card from all the junk that accumulated over the time with a command or I'll have to do it manually?
I format emmc in cwm, that's how i do it before rom flashes.

I thought that was the way but I googled it and everything that came up said never to do it.
I just noticed in the settings>storage theres an option to format usb storage will that do the trick?

You can factory data reset from settings, and you can format usb storage from settings.

I actually tried it said it formatted but nothing was missing from internal or external.
I used cwm emmc format, had troubles because installing from sd card didnt get passed the samsung logo even after downloading the rom again.
Had to do a nandroid and copy the installation to the internal and then flash.
Connect phone to PC
In CWM , mount USB storage...
When the phone storage is dispalyed on PC explorer , wipe everything you see (ctrl+a then del)
Do you have a PC ?
Actually I'm usually using my mac because it's nicer to do it from the bed. But I'll remember it for next time everything is already working great, well almost(see my other thread if interested).

Are you asking how to get CM10 working correctly? Or just how to get your TF101 working fine again? If the former, I can't really help you there, and that's just going to be difficult because CM10 is still in development, so there could be a host of problems. If you just want to get it working again, I would suggest finding a different (preferably STABLE) ROM and flashing it onto your device. That should work.
Also, if you're flashing a completely different ROM onto your device (not an upgrade or root, or whatever else,) I would go by the general rule of ALWAYS wipe your system, dalvik cache, normal cache, and if you're flashing files from an SD card, be sure to wipe your internal memory too. This will ensure that none of your previous files conflict with the new ones.
This happened to me when i ran one of the JB roms and then tried to nandroid back to revolver. By default the mounting for /data/media/ which is the internal memory is supposed to be at /sdcard/, but for some reason it got switched to /storage/sdcard0/. Nandroiding back to Revolver didn't help as the change was to something before the rom, so even twrp was acting funny because the mountings were present there also.
After some confusion i flashed superwipe lite and all was well. I ran lite since its supposed to leave /data/media/ alone, while reparitioning the rest of the system, so i thought that at some point its got to change the mountings back to the way it was supposed to be in HC and ICS.
Now if i could only remember where those mountings were originally saved i can just go in there and edit the file directly if this happens again.

Here's what I would suggest (assuming you have a microSD card):
Load your ROM of choice onto a microSD card and Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) to your internal memory. Reboot into recovery and flash the TWRP .zip to install it, and then reboot back into recovery. After that, go to "Wipe" and run Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache, Factory Reset, and System, and DO NOT REBOOT Then go back and choose "Install" from the menu and make sure you're viewing "using external SD," and there should be your ROM .zip. Flash it and reboot.
Let me know what happens or if you have any questions.

Alright, well, I'm not sure why your touch would't be working if you're using a TF101, but here's my last idea: Go here and do this. Make sure to read it carefully, as that basically just wipes your drive COMPLETELY and reinstalls the STOCK firmware. If you can't figure out how to do that, then I have no idea how else I can help you. I'm sorry.

Can you not just download a file manager app from the Play Store? There's several out there...
I can get into recovery but I deleted my system files... so must I use odin and a custom recovry (will i looose root?)
Or how does this work
if i could trasfer files onto it I be fine? anyway to force it open I can get into recovry still so there must be a way to force phone on to put files on it or to run a file from computer using twrp
mount usb storage.
mounted in twrp love this recovry problem solved.. note to self ... never delete alll data again
In recovery do your wipes and flash a ROM too easy. No ROM on phone like said mount storage and drop a ROM there.

Thanks. lol I'm getting my PhD in internet jibberish. It helps if you never really make sense yourself.
its not really considered a brick if you wiped your "system", you just dont have a rom installed to boot from, you can just flash a backup in recovery, you did create a backup right, or just flash a rom from your sdcard
After installing a few custom roms and wiping data i seem to have multiple roots
Looking at the phone- on my desktop I notice the following-
My computer/ SCH-I535/Phone/0/0/0/0/0
Each "0" has a complete set of files like the previous folder
Is this normal or do I have to reformat the phone somehow
Thanks for any advice
Delete any duplicate files/folders. You must keep 1 of the 0 folders though. The reason this happened is because you're recovery is out of date. Update your recovery to the latest version and you'll be fine from here on out. 4.2 adds multiple users which partions your storage to allow for this, the multiple 0 folders happen because you're old recovery is not aware of this partioning, so it just adds another folder for each 4.2 rom flashed.

Thanks. Where can I find the update and do I run it the same way is run a rom zip ?
Assuming your running one of the big 2 recoveries...for twrp: download goo manager from the playstore and in the options choose install open script recovery. For cwm: download rom manager from the playstore and install custom recovery. Done!

I have clockwork 6 0 1 2
Use rom manager and update it. I use twrp so I'm not sure what version cwm is running now, but I know it's higher than what you have. The app will download the current version (regular or touch) and flash it for you. Doesn't get any easier.
Just got the rom mgr and ran the file. Yes it was easy. Thanks
One last question- the next I install a new Rom , what's the best way to clean up the system

Here's what I learned after updating the CW recovery.
There's no format all and I was a bit hesitant to format all the choices. I read somewhere that you could lose the root files. I didn't want to go through that again.
On the first go round I formatted the " system", then I installed the rom. After install the extra "0" folders were still there. On the next try I formatted the internal SD card, that was it. All the extra "0" folders were gone
Thanks guys for the help!!
