[Q] Just want to confirm procedure for ICS - HTC Sensation

I just did S-off using revolutionary io.
It actually said failed during the process but I have the words Revolutionary! in Pink and S-OFF in my HBoot 1.17.1111 screen now. This definitely means I'm S-OFF correct?
Second thing is, next step should be install a new CWM recovery right? So just download the Sensation CWM recovery found here http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager then rename it PG58IMG.zip and put it into the root of the microSD. Boot into HBOOT and flash it. Then before the second reboot yank out the microSD ? Boot into Stock rom normally. Delete the PG58IMG.zip file. Download the rom I want to install and copy it over to the SDcard.
Third, do superCID or download 3.32 firmware for my CID (in this case TMOB10), and put it into the root of the SDcard. Boot into hboot again. Let it update.
Boot into CWM recovery. Wipe everything. Install the ICS rom I want.
I just wanted to make sure these are the right steps. Thank you for helping me out!

Those seem dead on, just replace CWM recovery with 4EXT touch recovery, it's better.

when i was flashing my first rom, i had alot of troubles
this video helped me out alot!

[Q] Flashed wrong firmware while trying to root

Hey guys, I just rooted my phone and put in Virtuous's AOSP senseless ics rom. I was doing to same for my brother's, but I mistakenly updated the hboot to 1.23.000 halfway through.
What I did was:
I followed "[Guide] to installing s-off, ..."
Did step 1 and started step 2.
In step 2, instead of using the PG58IMG file for clockwork recovery, I used the PG58IMG file to update the firmware for the ics rom
The problem is that whenever I enter hboot, it checks for the PG58IMG file, and when i try using the one for clockwork recovery, it says "model id incorrect" and prompts me to press power to reboot.
Now, the phone has s-off, but doesn't have root. its hboot version is 1.23.0000.
Is there any way I can downgrade the version to 1.18 or less, or maybe get the clockwork recovery in the updated ics PG58IMG file?
Thanks in advance for the help.
I got the same error with the new firmware til I did super cid. Its easier than rooting I think. Sorry no link I'm on my phone. Just google super cid sensation xda and follow the steps in the thread.

Oh n u still have clockwork recovery. Just remove your sd card and put it in your pc. Then take off the PG58img file you installed through your pc. Then u should b able to go to recovery.

You need to superCID
follow step 4

what firmware do you have(check in bootloader for hboot version) and what roms are you trying to flash?

ok ill do that. now try and do the rom?
flashed my firmware, did a complete wipe, installed rom. got to the roms splashpage and it reboots...
I would recommend changing to super CID then reflash firmware > wipe > Flash rom. That way this can be completely ruled out.
It sounds like your firmware and rom don't agree with each other. I don't know anything about coredroid

"I really want to use the latest ICS! How do I go about doing this?
I get this PM'd to me a lot. The best way I have seen to do it is as shown (Thanks to PaulGiz)
1. Do some reading as this is a bit different and harder than a normal ROM flash.
2. Best way is to place Firmware PG58IMG.zip, ROM and Superwipe script on the root of your SD Card.
3. Shut down phone and remove SD card.
4. Boot phone to Bootloader (Power+Vol down).
5. Move selection to Recovery, but don't select yet.
6. Insert SD, then select Recovery.
7. Flash Superwipe (ARHD Superwipe will reboot when done, others may not. Make sure it is a superwipe for the sensation!) & then Flash ROM.
8. Power down, then boot to Bootloader. Select Fastboot. Say yes to upgrade.
9. Watch the flash. It will flash 3 or 4 things, then reboot to bootloader. Don't panic when screen goes dark. Bootloader will come back and it will finish flashing.
10. Now select reboot.
11. Wait (up to 10 minutes) for ROM to boot up.
12. Set up your phone and enjoy ICS!!!
followed this to the T and still i get to a rom spashscreen and a few seconds later im bootlooped.
also now when i boot into fastboot my phone says its locked and model ID is incorrect. HBoot 1.27.0000

Did i flash the wrong img?
perhaps i should just stick to my g2x lol

I am a bit confused. You said your hboot 1.27 and your phone says locked ?????
Double check it . If your HBOOT is 1.27 your phone should say
"Unlocked Revolutionary
Pyramid PVT Ship S-off RL
HBOOT 1.27.0000"
If it is showing HBOOT 1.27 andlocked then firmware flashing is incomplete. Did you download the correct file for your CID? What is your CID? which file did you download? Did you check the md5 checksum of the file after download? Was it same ? Redo the firware flashing.

Sure you can install GB based ROM. It was discussed in section 9 of the first post. of my guide .
Before installaing an GB based ROM , you have to downgrade the firmware.
Download the v1.17 firmware from this page.
Download the firmware as per your CID. If you are superCID then you can use any v1.17 firmware.
Check the md5 checksum of the downloaded file. It must match else redownload it.
1. place Firmware PG58IMG.zip on the root of your SD Card.
2. Shut down phone.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Wait a minute.
5. Put the battery again in phone.
6. Boot phone to Bootloader by pressing (Power+Vol down). keys together.
7. Say yes to upgrade.
8. Watch the flash. It will flash 3 or 4 things, then reboot to bootloader. Don't panic when screen goes dark. Bootloader will come back and it will finish flashing.
Now your phone should show:
Eng Unlocked
pyramid pvt ship s-off rl
hboot-1.17.0000
radio-11.15.3504.16_m
eMMC-boot
( The radio version might show different ; don't worry )
9. Now download your rom.zip ( I suggest to use ARHD or RCMIX GB edition )
10. Put it on your sdcard root.
11. boot into recovery.
12. Wipe data, boot, system , cache and dalvik cache ( i.e superwipe)
13. Install your ROM.
14. Reboot
15. Have patience . First boot may take 7 to 8 minutes.
16. Enjoy.
If your rom suggests a specific radio, then download it.
Boot into bootloader (usb fastboot)
use fastboot to flash the radio as follows.
" fastboot flash radio radio.img"
Then reboot by "fastboot reboot"

[Q] Boot Loop after Revolutionary - NOOB

Hello,
I am a noob here. My question is regarding rooting the Sensation. I rooted mine successfully and installed ISC.
Now on my friends device, we followed the same steps. After using Revolution, i booted to boot mode. When we tried to install pg58img if said SID Incorrect, Install Failed.
I did delete the pg58img file after from the main directory of the SD card after.
It is now caught in a boot loop. I can't seem to get out of.
Any recommendations?
Currently has HSBOOT 1.27
I did search in the forums and could not find a solution
I think that you should have flashed 1.23 first, then flash the ROM and now after a reboot you should flash hboot 1.27.
I also got stuck in a bootloop and all I could do was to run my RUU file, get back to stock and start over.
Thanks for the response. But where do I restart from? I can't boot the phone, I can't access it from the PC. It just loops.
That's where I am stuck

You haven't installed one and no you don't want h boot 1.23 because you will be stuck with s on unable to flash boot.IMG or radios. 1.27 has an exploit so you're able to get back to 1.17 h boot.
Also Revolutionary doesn't support 1.27.
You're stuck in a bootloop because you have the wrong h boot version for running GB Rom.

Hello thanks for the response. So whats my next step? Find 1.17, add it to the root directory and it should work?
Read this guide, it will explain the process and link you to the files you will need and explains how to flash boot.IMG

Attached is a photo of the boot screen. I tried looking the file with 1.17 failed to update. I tried one again with 1.27, it installed but still loops. And I cannot access recovery.
I know I may be doing the wrong thing, but I am lost at this point...
Okay do this, you need to find a recovery.IMG for the latest CWM or 4ext, I am not near my pc so I cannot upload one. Search the development forum, they do exist. You then turn off your phone and remove the battery and sd card, insert the sd into a reader on your pc. Copy the recovery.IMG to your sd card and change the name to PG58IMG.zip. Safely remove card from your pc, put it back in your phone, put battery back in. Boot into h boot and when it asks if you want to do update choose yes, it will update. Now you have custom recovery to flash custom ROM. You will still bootloop because you now have to flash an ICS ROM.
Do yourself a favor while you have the sd card in your pc and put a ICS ROM zip on it. Before you can flash your Rom you have to remove your sd card again same as before and delete the PG58IMG.zip from your sd card, safely remove it, put it back in phone boot into h boot scroll down to recovery, choose it by pushing power, now choose install zip option then choose zip from sd card, scroll down to the ROM zip you put there and install it.
You should be good now.

Your awesome!!!
YOUR AWESOME... Everything worked so far.
I was able to use CID to 11111111 and use your instructions. It did allow me to use a GB rom, but still not an ICS rom. I am assuming I will have to download another PG158IMG file ?
Atleast I am out of the loop for GB though!
If you want to run ICS you are on the right h boot 1.27. Which are you trying to flash? Check your mid. Use adb while in fastboot and type "fastboot getvar mid".
Glad to hear it's working now.

Okay, i wanted to download the ELEGANCIA ICS ROM but before i could i had to download a FIRMWARE PACKAGE(or just firmware). So i downloaded the Firmware from 3.32 RUU which is for the ELEGANCIA ROM...By the way, I DID THIS BEFORE I INSTALLED the ELEGANCIA ROM(i hadn't downloaded it yet..elegancia rom) I followed the instructions how to flash it. It said it would tell you what to do next..so i did it. Went into Recovery and flashed through sd and installed the ZIP file and when it asked if i wanted to udate it i pressed Yes...and then this is what HAPPENs NEXT.
It ask if i want to update and I do and then it says:
Parsing...[ SD ZIP]
[1] BOOTLOADER - Ok
Update Complete...
Press POWER to reboot.
So i press power and all it does is: BOOTS up and then TURNS OFF
It continues to do that...I believe it's called BOOT LOOPING.?
I pull out the battery and press VOL. Down plus POWER at the same tiime and it takes me back to the WHITE SCREEN and I see FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, FACTORY RESET, SIMLOCK and IMAGE CRC but does NOT let me choose. It automatically goes to HBOOT.
I have to pull battery or it will continue to BOOT itself on and off again. Even with the phone off, I connect it to my usb connection on my laptop and my device does not show on my laptop. Both the usb connection and usb cord are working properly.
That is my BIG PAIN in MY ASS right now!!
Can someone please help me.?
You will have to make your phone Super-CID or download the correct firmware package that fit your CID.
Super-CID makes you able to flash any firmware package etc.

Download your ICS ROM and mike's SuperWipe script from the ARHD thread.

Don't bother restoring to stock, waste of effort.
Read my previous post.
1. Anyway, did the ICS F/W update work ?
2. Is the PG58IMG.zip file still on the SDcard ? If so rename /delete it.
3. Get your chosen ICS ROM and mike's SuperWipe script onto the SDcard.
4. Go into recovery and run the Superwipe script then flash the ROM.
Steps 2 & 3 you'll need to use a PC to do these with a USB <-> microSD adapter.
I am assuming that there wasn't a typo in your original post in that you actually have HBOOT 1.27.0000, this is ICS ONLY firmware and GB won't work on it.
BTW what recovery have you got ? CWM or 4EXT ?

I just tried it and the phone is ON NOW BUT it is just on the White screen with the Green HTC letters. It has been on for 15 minutes already...By the way, I DO NOT have a microSD adapter. I did it by getting into CWM and going to Recovery and going into mounts and then i mounted it and was able to install it like that. Is that the reason why it is still on the White HTC screen? Do I pull the Battery?
Another thing I still haven't flashed my ICS Rom because when i DID Mike's SuperWipe it did it's thing and just automattically went to the White HTC screen.
No, there is NO TYPO, that is exactly what it says. I believe i still have CWM and I remember tthat I had 4ext to.

So precisely what have you got on the SDcard at the moment ?
PG58IMG.zip ?
SuperWipe.zip (or what ever the name is) ?
ICS ROM "zip" file ?
Edit: If you used the superwipe script you have no OS on the phone and will NEED to flash an ICS ROM through recovery. It shouldn't have gone to the white HTC screen just returned to CWM. If you don't have an ICS ROM on the phone's SDcard you can try adb pushing it or possibly use another device that has microUSB capability.

What I have now is Superwipe.zip and ICS ROM.zip. I deleted the PG58IMG that I had on the SD Card before I did the SUPERWIPE.
I pulled out the battery and got into recovery and installed from sdcard and I went to install ICS ROM and it started but then it said ABORTED. Tried again and said the same thing.
Should I try another ICS ROM?
What about not having the PG58IMG?

[Q] HTC Sensation Boot Loop after S-off

First post. Hi all. I have rooted phones for years now and am finally at a loss of what to do with this current phone I have. I have a HTC sensation. I just S-offed it and was trying to install clolckwork mod 5.0.0.8 and it says model id incorrect and I am stuck in a boot loop. I must have downloaded 15 different PG58IMG files and they all say the same thing..... model id incorrect. I just got this phone in the mail. Revolutionary S-offed it. Then when it asked "Revolutionary will now ask you to Install clockwork recovery mod after S OFF. Type N and install it manually" from the [Guide] to Installing S-off, Unlocking, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on. Now I am stuck in a boot loop. Does anyone have any idea of how to get this phone working again??

I have successfully rooted a HTC sensation before. My phone got stolen out of my work truck and this is the replacement phone I just got yesterday and was going to do go through all the stuff to install android revolution HD on it. and right after s-off it boot looped. Next step was to install clockwork mod and thats where im stuck. I have no recovery installed because that was the next step. Any insight/help appreciated thanks
If you a have sd card adapter, you can download CWM Recovery form Here rename it PG58IMG and put on the root of sd card.
Put your sd card back into the phone and reboot in bootloader and it will install recovery. When you are done, delete or rename PG58IMG from sd card.
Btw what is your model Id?
Download terminal emulator from the market and detect it by typing "getprop ro.mid" (without quotes).
Inside the PG58IMG there is a text file with MID and CIDs which you could eventually edit in case of mismatch.
Hope it helps!
Also, instead of CWM you could try installing 4ext
Sent from my HTC Sensation using XDA
Ok I will try that. I looked under battery on my phone it say PG58100. SInce I cant get into my phone because of the boot loop I cannot download that program you mentioned. So should I open the android-info.txt in the PG58IMG and change
modelid: PG5813000
to
modelid: PG5810000
????
and then try the update?

I would try and see if it goes
Btw I see that your firmware is a ICS. Are you sure you downloaded the right firmware for your CID?
Read here very carefully

If you have adv setup and can boot to bootloader
you can try installing 4ext recovery using fastboot commands.....here is link for touch recovery image
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377759
Command
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA
Just wondering if you flashed a wrong PG58IMG (ICS firmware instead of recovery).
You are on ICS firmware now but your rom is a GB I guess. This can be the reason of boot loop.
If this is the case read carefully and download the right PG58IMG (firmware 1.17 if your rom is a Gingerbread) from here.
Unfortunately all the bootloader flashable zips are named PG58IMG, but their content is different.
Heres what I did. Took phone out of the box. turned it on. used it for a couple minutes. Then I did the whole revolutionary s-off process. Then I did this
-----------------------------------------------
STEP 2. To INSTALL Recovery - v5.0.0.8
1. Download recovery v5.0.0.8 for the Sensation HERE: or Multiupload
2. Copy the PG58IMG file into the Root folder of your SD card (The main Folder of your Memory Card)
3. Turn off your phone FUlly and reboot into the Bootloader/HBOOT screen (see post above on how to get to hboot screen)
4. Press Volume up to Accept when it asks" Do you want to start the update"
5. Press Power Off to Reboot back to android after installation is successful (normal screen with homescreen)
6. Delete PG58IMG from your memory card and you can now root using step 3 below or install a custom ROM using CWM (Customs Roms are already rooted)
--------------------------------------------------
I downloaded the older 5.0.0.8 because it worked for me in the past when I rooted my old HTC sensation.
Now its saying no image even though I renamed it to PG58IMG.zip
And it still stuck on a loop. SO alls I did so far was s-off a brand new phone.
Thank you all. Phone is back to normal. I did the 1.17 firmware that kualmente mentioned. So now my phone is a stock phone but just S-off'd. The next step is to install a recovery. Do i even have to install clockwork mod or can I just put on 4EXT recovery? if so how. I was just following directions from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
And step two says to install clockwork mod so thats what I was going to do. but I know i need 4EXT later anyway to install android revolution
I personally prefer 4ext touch recovery but basically both cwm and 4ext have same functions.
There is a nice tool to easily install 4ext recovery touch HERE
I'm all back up and running android revolution 6.5.5
Thanks for all your quick responses.

What ROM are you trying to boot ?
If it is an ICS ROM you must have 3.32 firmware

Hboot 1.27.0000
No i didnt flash the 3.32 firmware...
You flashed the firmware (otherwise you wouldn't have hboot 1.27).
Most probably you did'nt flash the rom and you are still on GB. This is why it bootloops.
Did you install a custom recovery (cwm or 4ext)? If not do it and then flash the rom from recovery
