Hello,
I am a noob here. My question is regarding rooting the Sensation. I rooted mine successfully and installed ISC.
Now on my friends device, we followed the same steps. After using Revolution, i booted to boot mode. When we tried to install pg58img if said SID Incorrect, Install Failed.
I did delete the pg58img file after from the main directory of the SD card after.
It is now caught in a boot loop. I can't seem to get out of.
Any recommendations?
Currently has HSBOOT 1.27
I did search in the forums and could not find a solution
I think that you should have flashed 1.23 first, then flash the ROM and now after a reboot you should flash hboot 1.27.
I also got stuck in a bootloop and all I could do was to run my RUU file, get back to stock and start over.
Thanks for the response. But where do I restart from? I can't boot the phone, I can't access it from the PC. It just loops.
That's where I am stuck

You haven't installed one and no you don't want h boot 1.23 because you will be stuck with s on unable to flash boot.IMG or radios. 1.27 has an exploit so you're able to get back to 1.17 h boot.
Also Revolutionary doesn't support 1.27.
You're stuck in a bootloop because you have the wrong h boot version for running GB Rom.

Hello thanks for the response. So whats my next step? Find 1.17, add it to the root directory and it should work?
Read this guide, it will explain the process and link you to the files you will need and explains how to flash boot.IMG

Attached is a photo of the boot screen. I tried looking the file with 1.17 failed to update. I tried one again with 1.27, it installed but still loops. And I cannot access recovery.
I know I may be doing the wrong thing, but I am lost at this point...
Okay do this, you need to find a recovery.IMG for the latest CWM or 4ext, I am not near my pc so I cannot upload one. Search the development forum, they do exist. You then turn off your phone and remove the battery and sd card, insert the sd into a reader on your pc. Copy the recovery.IMG to your sd card and change the name to PG58IMG.zip. Safely remove card from your pc, put it back in your phone, put battery back in. Boot into h boot and when it asks if you want to do update choose yes, it will update. Now you have custom recovery to flash custom ROM. You will still bootloop because you now have to flash an ICS ROM.
Do yourself a favor while you have the sd card in your pc and put a ICS ROM zip on it. Before you can flash your Rom you have to remove your sd card again same as before and delete the PG58IMG.zip from your sd card, safely remove it, put it back in phone boot into h boot scroll down to recovery, choose it by pushing power, now choose install zip option then choose zip from sd card, scroll down to the ROM zip you put there and install it.
You should be good now.

Your awesome!!!
YOUR AWESOME... Everything worked so far.
I was able to use CID to 11111111 and use your instructions. It did allow me to use a GB rom, but still not an ICS rom. I am assuming I will have to download another PG158IMG file ?
Atleast I am out of the loop for GB though!
If you want to run ICS you are on the right h boot 1.27. Which are you trying to flash? Check your mid. Use adb while in fastboot and type "fastboot getvar mid".
Glad to hear it's working now.

I bougth a new HTC Sensation 4G and decided to upgrade to ICS 4.0.3.
I don't know too much about how to flash, root etc. So I googled it and found a forum. I was successful with the S-OFF part so I went to step 2 root my phone.
I downloaded a file PMG58IMG and placed that on my SD and tried to update trough HBoot. It asked me if i want to update I did volume +.
After it was finished I got this:
Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail
Press <POWER> to reboot
So I turned it off and started it up, it started to boot loop every time after the HTC Logo, turn off starts up HTC Logo and it keeps doing that.
I went into Hboot and saw that my HBOOT version that was 1.18 has been changed to 1.27
I do have to mention that I did clear or wiped anything before doing this. I just opened the box and started with the process. So I think I had Android 2.3 I'm not sure about that.
I tried to do the PMG58IMG thing again several times with other PMG58IMG file but keep getting this:
Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail
Press <POWER> to reboot
Please help me solve this problem thank you...

Hey,
Check your MID and edit the android-info.txt file accordingly. or download one of these matching your phones details. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
cheers.
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.
The pg58img file is a firmware update, not for gaining root (which is done by flashing a superuser binary zip in recovery).
The problem is now you have firmware incompatible with your rom, causing bootloop.
The solution, first thing to try is remove SD, delete the pg58img, reinsert and try to boot.
If it fails you need to redo the pg58img process with a firmware compatible with Android 2.3 if that's what you had. You need firmware version 3.12 or lower.
If this fails you may need to run ruu and start over.

So I downloaded this firmware T-MOBILE: DOWNLOAD 3.12
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
The firmware was updated successful and I now back on my home screen. It is NOT boot looping any more.
I want to wipe everything and put ICS 4.0.3 on it. I guess my phone is not fully rooted yet, right? So what do I have to do next?
I do have to mention that my Hboot version has been changed from 1.27 to 1.23.
Some details about my phone:
Android 2.3.4 Sense 3.0
Software number: 1.50.531.1
Kernel version: 2.6.35.13
Glad to hear you are back up and running, now follow the guide here to get rooted, super cid, etc http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Do yourself a favor rename all of the previous PMG58IMG files you downloaded or delete them so you do not become confused when you download the recovery from the guide I linked you to.

I'm guessing that Recovery CWM is not installed. In STEP 2 I have to download the Recovery v5.0.0.8. I downloaded recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-pyramid from http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager.
What do I do with the Recovery file it's a IMG file?
Thanks Everybody...
You update in bootloader same as you did for firmware.
To note also, for newer ics roms you will most likely need to flash newer fw than 3.12.

Do I have to put the Recovery.IMG file in the PMG58IMG.zip file? Because I tried to flash the recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-pyramid it doesn't go. I just copy and paste it on my SD card. I didn't place it in a zip.

1. Put pmg58img on the ROOT of your SD card, not in any folder.
2. Boot into boot loader
3. It will ask you to confirm update. Do that and wait.
4. When its finished reboot

I did that it was successful but what do I do with the Recovery file please look step 2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
The recovery file is not a PG58IMG file or zip file it a image file.
I downloaded my PG58IMG file here:
T-MOBILE: DOWNLOAD 3.12
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
That PG58IMG file worked for me to update the firmware. My question is when I download the recovery file which is a image file what should I do with it because I put it on my SD and fastboot it and it doesn't work.
I see the problem, the links from where you are downloading have the files improperly compiled, that's the problem.
Go to page three of this thread, someone posted a properly compiled CWM Recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277975
Download the file, it's a PMG58IMG file, it is working for others. Someone needs to update the guide, no wonder there's so many users having trouble installing recovery.

Thank you, I was thinking about that and I did it before you replied. I downloaded the Recovery file that is a image file and made a PMG58IMG.zip file. After that I copied the .txt file from the firmware PMG58IMG.zip file and paste that in the Recovery zip. I was a success I'm permanently rooted.
Now I have to do the next steps hope I'll do them correctly.
I am glad you got it sorted. Have fun and enjoy flashing!!

it shut off came back on to the htc start up screen went to the next one and shuts off and repeats itself. its never ending i try to click recovery and it just goes back into bootloop....i try to click factory reset it just starts then gives me a ret triangle......what did i do wrong...someone please help me get out of this mess.

Okay, i wanted to download the ELEGANCIA ICS ROM but before i could i had to download a FIRMWARE PACKAGE(or just firmware). So i downloaded the Firmware from 3.32 RUU which is for the ELEGANCIA ROM...By the way, I DID THIS BEFORE I INSTALLED the ELEGANCIA ROM(i hadn't downloaded it yet..elegancia rom) I followed the instructions how to flash it. It said it would tell you what to do next..so i did it. Went into Recovery and flashed through sd and installed the ZIP file and when it asked if i wanted to udate it i pressed Yes...and then this is what HAPPENs NEXT.
It ask if i want to update and I do and then it says:
Parsing...[ SD ZIP]
[1] BOOTLOADER - Ok
Update Complete...
Press POWER to reboot.
So i press power and all it does is: BOOTS up and then TURNS OFF
It continues to do that...I believe it's called BOOT LOOPING.?
I pull out the battery and press VOL. Down plus POWER at the same tiime and it takes me back to the WHITE SCREEN and I see FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, FACTORY RESET, SIMLOCK and IMAGE CRC but does NOT let me choose. It automatically goes to HBOOT.
I have to pull battery or it will continue to BOOT itself on and off again. Even with the phone off, I connect it to my usb connection on my laptop and my device does not show on my laptop. Both the usb connection and usb cord are working properly.
That is my BIG PAIN in MY ASS right now!!
Can someone please help me.?

Super-CID makes you able to flash any firmware package etc.

You stated that your ROM was GB and that's not supported on the 3.32 F/W.
Download your ICS ROM and mike's SuperWipe script from the ARHD thread.
Copy them to the SDcard via the PC and a USB <-> microSD adapter.
Delete the PG58IMG.zip file on the SDcard.
Boot the phone into Bootloader, get into Recovery, SuperWipe and flash the ROM.

Don't bother restoring to stock, waste of effort.
Read my previous post.
1. Anyway, did the ICS F/W update work ?
2. Is the PG58IMG.zip file still on the SDcard ? If so rename /delete it.
3. Get your chosen ICS ROM and mike's SuperWipe script onto the SDcard.
4. Go into recovery and run the Superwipe script then flash the ROM.
Steps 2 & 3 you'll need to use a PC to do these with a USB <-> microSD adapter.
I am assuming that there wasn't a typo in your original post in that you actually have HBOOT 1.27.0000, this is ICS ONLY firmware and GB won't work on it.
BTW what recovery have you got ? CWM or 4EXT ?

I just tried it and the phone is ON NOW BUT it is just on the White screen with the Green HTC letters. It has been on for 15 minutes already...By the way, I DO NOT have a microSD adapter. I did it by getting into CWM and going to Recovery and going into mounts and then i mounted it and was able to install it like that. Is that the reason why it is still on the White HTC screen? Do I pull the Battery?
Another thing I still haven't flashed my ICS Rom because when i DID Mike's SuperWipe it did it's thing and just automattically went to the White HTC screen.
No, there is NO TYPO, that is exactly what it says. I believe i still have CWM and I remember tthat I had 4ext to.

So precisely what have you got on the SDcard at the moment ?
PG58IMG.zip ?
SuperWipe.zip (or what ever the name is) ?
ICS ROM "zip" file ?
Edit: If you used the superwipe script you have no OS on the phone and will NEED to flash an ICS ROM through recovery. It shouldn't have gone to the white HTC screen just returned to CWM. If you don't have an ICS ROM on the phone's SDcard you can try adb pushing it or possibly use another device that has microUSB capability.

What I have now is Superwipe.zip and ICS ROM.zip. I deleted the PG58IMG that I had on the SD Card before I did the SUPERWIPE.
I pulled out the battery and got into recovery and installed from sdcard and I went to install ICS ROM and it started but then it said ABORTED. Tried again and said the same thing.
Should I try another ICS ROM?
What about not having the PG58IMG?

Should I try another ICS ROM?
What about not having the PG58IMG?

It seems that your ics ROM is corrupted. Did you check the md5sum of the ROM zip file?

Folks, I have been through a million different forums and tried a million and a half things to get my phone to stop looping.
Here it is, (I should not have tried this due to my noob factor)
I have tried to install ICS insertcoin 5.1.7
I followed the guide to s-off - successful. Now it goes downhill and the details are foggy to say the least.
I am stuck with a bootloop and Model ID incorrect!
Here are the details:
Revolutionary
Pyramid PVS SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT 1.27.1100
RADIO-10.14.9035.01_M
eMMc-boot
Jan13 2012,17:33
So my question is, can someone please provide me with a walkthrough on how I can fix this. I know I'm not asking much can you please provide direct links for files I will need to download. I also want to try and avoid ADB as even looking at the forum about this frightens me.
Fingers crossed im not 100% bricked.
Cheers,
Andy
My Hboot is 1.27 too.
but it doesn't matter.
I suggest you try the ARHD6.5 rom ( don't try the newest two, just v6.5.3 is ok.) .
Were you on GB ROM when you tried to flash to ICS? Also, it looks like an incomplete firmware flash. Based on what it's reading in H Boot, you have a GB radio and that should not be. Did you make a backup before you started?

The backup failed... apparently.
So if it is an incomplete firmware flash, is it possible to just start the entire process again?
You can get the ice firmware from the thread linked in the first post in opensensation thread. Sorry I can't post links. Its the suggested firmware do. Flash that then wipe and install your rom. Ics will not boot on gb Firmware
You need to slowly step up to the ICS ROM, You can't flash from GB straight to ICS. Reflash firmware. Power off, remove battery put back in battery boot into fastboot, when it asks if you want to update choose yes, it will go through the update process, it wil flash off and back on, it's normal, it's still updating. When it's done it will say press power to reboot, do not reboot, scroll down to power off. Remove your battery and sd card and put your pc card in a reader on your pc. Delete PM58IMG zip from the card. Place the ICS ROM you want to flash onto sd card. Safely remove card from pc. Put sd card into phone, replace battery, boot into recovery and flash ROM.

Did you do supercid?
I forgot when I first rooted then when I flashed ics firmware I got a message like yours.
Follow the advice in my reply here ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1571301
.... to make sure you have the correct fastboot drivers installed then follow the link in my reply to the rooting thread and follow step 4 (I think) with your phone in fastboot USB mode to get supercid.
You should then be able to flash gb or ics firmware followed by a gb or ics Rom
Good luck....
Hi,
try to reinstall the firmware from here. If your phone is broken, you will obviously need to put the stuff on the mem card manually.
If your phone is compatible that should work out of the box. If your CID is not on that list, you will need to follow their workaround and add it to the list in android-info.txt.

Follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25593366, however, if you can get s-off it would make things much easier.

I don't know any method to S-off without a PC. Anyway, if you follow the guide you should be able to flash any ROM with S-On

Here is my advice to you, as far as the ROM getting stuck during install I really am not sure why it did that . But here are two suggestions, one move the ROM's zip file from the Download folder to the root of your SD card, two try re-downloading the ROM as you might have got a bad download.
Now let me address your main problem that you have not had yet because you have not successfully flash a new ROM yet. You are S-ON and HTC Dev unlocked so you will have to flash the boot.img as it will not flash during a normal install like devices that are full S-OFF. Now also seeing as you said you do not have a computer you need to install 4EXT Recovery so you can use Smart Flash to flash the boot.img. Without Smart Flash you will have to use a computer to flash the boot.img via fastboot commands. Now to install 4EXT Recovery without a computer you need to install the free 4EXT Updater app, when you download the apk make sure you go into Settings/Security and place a check beside "Unknown sources" and then use a file manager such as ESFile Manager or Astro File Manager (both free from yom the Play Store) to install the apk. Once you have it installed just open the app and select "Online install ¦ upgrade" option to install 4EXT Recovery then go into the Settings for the app and select the Recovery tab, then place a check beside "S-ON: 4EXT SmartFlash" then boot to recovery and flash your ROM. Follow the guide linked in this thread earlier also if you have troubles as it is the best guide for Sensation users that are HTC Dev unlocked and S-ON. Here is a link to the 4EXT thread as well.

Well it sounds like your SD card maybe messed up, if your device will not format the card while in recovery then your only other options are to try to format it with a computer. If you try using a computer I suggest you do a low level format first And then format it Fat32. Your other option is to just get another SD card.
Now to get your device functional again. The only way you will be able to do this now is using a computer to flash the official ROM for your device via RUU. This will not revert your device to S-ON but it will give you a locked Hboot again so you will have to re flash a eng-Hboot to your device. You will also have to flash a custom recovery again and re root your device. Go to this thread to try and find the RUU for your device and info on how to flash via RUU. Also a RUU is the only way you will be able to flash without a working SD card.
Cheers mate u are a mod god I got both on now, to oz ill do the unlock and root again, then. Can start putting some roms on

I got your PM and no problem man I am glad I could help. Now as for what it is doing now when it acts like it is updating does it say "Android updating" when it first boots up? If so it is just gathering needed information and making needed files for any new apps you have installed.now the fact that it is restarting and doing this every time is abnormal as it should only do it once. If that is not what it is doing and it is just showing the progress circle then that means the device is just finishing up loading everything. Now the only thing I can really think of to try is to either uninstall the last app or two that you installed to see if it is a app causing conflict. Make sure to reboot the device after uninstalling the app or apps. If uninstalling the last couple of apps does not help try doing a factory reset and see if it still reboots on it's own.
In one of your other post you said you did successfully S-OFF your device. If you are S-OFF then you do not need to unlock your device again with HTC Dev you just need to install a eng-Hboot. Go to Unlimited.io and click on Hboot downloads, then click on pyramid, last click on ICS. This will start a download for the eng-Hboot you need to install, go back to the first page I linked you to where you clicked on Hboot downloads. The fastboot commands you have to use to install the eng Hboot are on that page. If you do not have access to a computer with ADB already set up on it you can go to the User Friendly Firmware thread and downloaded the 3.33 Universal firmware package and flash ot via bootloader. Just put the PG58IMG.zip on the root of your SD card and boot into bootloader and then follow the on screen instruction.
God 1 thing after another now I can't connect my phone to the comp, phone won't factory reset or go into recovery, just restarts

Hi,
Did you make a nandroid backup before you started.
If so,restore it .
If not,why not?
Look HERE
Follow the thread to get 4EXT recovery on your phone ,and using "Smartflash" to get custom ROMS onto your phone.
Use fastboot usb and try flashing boot.img over adb. It worked for me

i have a similar problem. cm10 will install it all goose good until you get to the setup part then it reboots. everytime.almost like a bootloop. i have s-off. unlocked bootloader, supercid. but my hboot is 1.17.0008. i went thru revolutionary do i need to update my hboot and do the hole root over useing jb? the onlything i can think of.........any ideas???
Yes, firmware 1.17 will ALWAYS cause reboots on android 4.x. Update your firmware (probably to 3.33)
Look here for details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21711154
Follow all instructions to update firmware. You basically put the file on your SD card and boot to bootloader. The bootloader should update the firmware from there.

Had this problem too until I used 4ext with the smart flash option. no real need to s-off now.
