Dust Under Screen? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

So does anybody have dust under the screen? I counted a few specks under mine

Oh man don't tell me this problem still plagues HTC devices.

Weird. None here. Been using it since Thursday and still dust free.

Unfortunately HTC still can't figure how to make phone that is dust free.

I have some. But it's a nonissue to me. I didn't notice it until I was shining a flashlight on it to make sure I got everything off before applying my screen protector. It doesn't affect the screen at all.

I don't have any on mine. Take it back for an exchange if it's bothering you.

Good luck they consider dust under the screen as a cosmetic issue so they might not let you swap it out.

Or tell them you want a refund if they give any trouble. They'd rather do an exchange than issue a refund. Never usually a problem though.

I had dust under mine... AT&T store claimed they couldn't see it, so being within my 30 days I returned it and bought a new one on the spot... they were pissed

haha, they didn't seem to even notice the note, kept turning it on and looking at it, sitting it on the counter... they totally ignored it.

That's pretty awesome. I had my Note on the table when I bought the One X too. The RSC just looked at it and shook his head.
They don't get any commission either if it's not a new contract.

where can i get a new battery cover??

like in title: my battey cover is about to broke, any idea of where i can get a new one? ^^
Seriously? have you tried some of these little known sites?
ebay
amazon
or as a last resort try using Google
Sorry if these results are a little UK centric, if you live somewhere foreign maybe someone could suggest some local equivalents.
http://www.trait-tech.com/ also
great price!

You might wanna let us know what country you're in, so we can be specific when replying.
I'd check ebay first and see if you can get a good deal on there.
Or simply ask HTC nicely. I was a bit concerned about my SIM/SD cover creaking a bit, so I wrote a polite email to HTC, and they sent me a spare.
Give it a go, the worst that can happen is they say no...
I think they also sell those on the official accessory store.

Wow. Seriously?

I just thought this was worth sharing.
I own an MT4G. In my year of having it I have gone through 6 replacements.
None with the SO Type 2 Panel.
Tonight (actually 10 minutes ago) I just got back from buying my wife an MT4G.
It has a cracked digitizer but otherwise works just fine.
The touch screen is still responsive in every corner and every side.
Even where it's cracked. I got this phone for 30 bucks. 30....
My wife now has a MT4G with a superior screen. SO Type 2.
FML!
P.S. She won't switch with me even though she doesn't see the difference.
She just knows that I want it, she has it, I don't have it and that's the way she likes it.

There's a thread under "General" that shows you how to find out.
A rooted way and an unrooted way.
Search "bad display" in the "General" forum.
Are you rooted or unrooted?

All you gotta do is turn off the phone (make sure fastboot is off)
then boot in to bootloader.
Hold volume down and press the power button. Hold it until you see the bootloader screen.
Go down to system info and look for something along the lines of SH-C2 or SO-C2.
SO is superior, SH is not.
Good luck.

I swear even with a broken digitizer on my wife's phone my phone can't even compare.

i have the SH version, honestly i cant see anything wrong with my screen. iv compared it to other android phones and it is brighter and more defined, (evo g2, varius others) so idk maybe i need to really compare the two, btw my lady would trade with me

Saturation? Color? Contrast?
30 bucks... can it be any cheaper?
The screen is just seriously washed out in comparison. I don't want to use any terms incorrectly, so im just gonna keep it at that.

I went through several bad screens before getting a good one, and wife still has the bad one. I was checking out my friend's Sensation and immediately noticed that he has the bad screen. Apparently HTC is still shipping both screens even on their latest models. Will definitely be cautious if I go with another HTC phone after this.
I'm expecting my 2nd MT to arrive tomorrow.
If I haven't seen the bad screen, would I even know something is off? Like if my first phone had a bad screen and the new one does to, would I even guess that there's a problem?
I mean do you have to see a good and bad one side by side to know the difference?
Or is it like watching HDTV for years then trying to watch a show on an old 1920's black and white?

Gunny! I got [another] new phone!

Just got back from the AT&T store and they gave me a brand new phone! They didn't want to at first since I am a week past my 30 day return window but I schmoozed them for a solid hour and after saying no to me 10 times I was finally able to convince them to give me a new one. I am happy to report that this one does not have a clicky screen

All I know is this phone has some serious quality control issues. It may be because of my ocd but I'm on my 5th one. First one had a big yellow spot on the screen. Second one was getting really hot. Third one got really hot also plus I wanted to try a grey one lol. Fourth one I went back to white. It ran really cool but it had light bleed. This current one has the best looking screen and no light bleed but it runs hot and has the worst battery life out of all of them. I should have just suck with the fourth one. My biggest annoyance is the heat and crappy battery life. How can they not all be consistent in the battery life department? They have the same batteries. 5 hours with 58 mins screen on time is really unacceptable in my eyes when I was getting a day and 5 hours with 3 and a half hours screen on time consistently with the other phones. Something just doesn't want me to be happy and have everything go right. There's always gotta be something wrong. These companies need to learn to make better products.

We are early adopters and this is what we sometimes need to go through. I am completely understanding of that and frankly, I don't care if I have to exchange my phone 10 times (I'm sure Kurt at my local AT&T store does!), as long as I end up with a perfect one then I'm happy. Our other option is to wait 6 months until they get all the kinks worked out and then buy one. I'd much rather have it now and deal with the issues then have to wait until those issues get worked out before I get to play with it.

[Q] Anyone have a crease in their screen?

So I've had my HOX since it came out on AT&T and noticed this right away but didn't care enough to complain, but curiousity has gotten the best of me and I want to know how many other users have this...
About 1-1.25" down from the top of the screen I have a literal horizontal crease in the glass of my screen. It goes straight across and is really only noticeable when you look at reflections in the glass. You can kinda sorta feel it with your fingers. It doesn't pose any issue except an uber tiny warping effect if you use the screen as a mirror.
I'll post a picture when I get home and try to get a good angle on the screen so it's plainly obvious what I mean.
Edit: Actually...I'm not sure whether it's concave or convex...not that it really matters
None of mine ever had this. Sounds life a material defect.

Here's the picture. You can see a distortion across the width of the screen.
I've seen similar defects in the international section. Get a replacement.

It doesn't bother me enough to warrant me going and getting a replacement. Like I said, it doesn't affect the actual on-screen image, just the reflection off the surface of the glass.

The reason I'm saying replace it is the integrity of the glass might be compromised and possibly more prone to breakage.
Yeah although it doesn't matter right now it might become a problem in the future. Its best in my opinion just to get a replacement to prevent all that.

Sorry but when you pay $600 for a phone, you want it to be perfect and shouldn't have to settle for less. Every device I returned had legitimate hardware defects.
I'll see how I feel in a few days before I make the decision to go get it replaced. I know the concern for breakage later on is perfectly valid, just gotta decide whether it's worth the trouble. I'm super careful with my phones. My old Captivate survived 2 years with nothing but normal wear on the back and 2 cracks on the top where the plastic was real thin (bad Samsung...)

RadioShack replacement with evita

Does anyone here have any experience with sending in a phone to RadioShack for a replacement (full insurance) when it still works? I did it once when my phone crapped out, but this phone has an awful battery and I've been dealing with it since November and am finally fed up with it. I'm assuming they'll take it, but I'm not sure what they'd exactly do since it still works... Or should I just go with plan be and smash it with a hammer? Then they'd have to replace it lol.
I vote hammer ;p
