RadioShack replacement with evita - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Does anyone here have any experience with sending in a phone to RadioShack for a replacement (full insurance) when it still works? I did it once when my phone crapped out, but this phone has an awful battery and I've been dealing with it since November and am finally fed up with it. I'm assuming they'll take it, but I'm not sure what they'd exactly do since it still works... Or should I just go with plan be and smash it with a hammer? Then they'd have to replace it lol.

I vote hammer ;p

If I had a slo mo camera I totally would and make everyone on the evita forums go NOOOOOOOO. One of my friends is gonna loan me his old Pantech Burst running CM10 for a few days. Damn, this phone is gonna feel AMAZING when I leave that.

Lol

Lol who was it that did that? Mir? All I remember is that it caught fire before that. At that point I'd just find my baseball bat and get someone to pitch it to me. Rip a home run into over my pipe-stem with the sucka.

I can't remember who did that, made me laugh though

Me. I also did take video with my nexus 4. But it wasn't worth sharing because running it over didn't do much. It was slamming it into a sidewalk that sealed the deal

I would, but I'm about 70% sure RadioShack has an extra fee for physical damage, and I don't really wanna pay $50-$100 just to smash my phone... as tempting as it is lol

They were the only ones that had an evita on launch day. Literally, they had one. It would go on to break (not my fault, it just died) in about 6 months but still.

[Q] Dropped my skyrocket!

ok so i just got my skyrocket about a week ago. And i dropped it and the chrome around the phone chipped pretty bad. I tried to go into today to say like the phone was laggy and stuff. Then the associate said just restart the phone. Then i asked her about what the insurance policy is and i asked about the chipped chrome and she told me to go to the AT&T service center and said they would swap it out. i went which is about like 30 min away from me and once i got there they said they wouldn't do it. Anybody know what i can do to replace it?

I wish I could like this! Even if you brick your phone they should look at it and deny your claim due to abuse. I would if I were the sales person. It's people like you who drive our prices up.

That, or just don't drop the thing to begin with.
You should have had a case from day 1. They will not replace a phone with serious visual defects unless the defects are from manufacturing. Also, bricking the phone will not do it either since it has been dropped. You're just gonna have to deal with it. Sorry.

Exactly we are talking about a gadget not war or chivalry.....we all make mistakes that's human nature and I'm not saying his reason is the best my rocket has taken some spills and it still works but I will say us middle class people work 5 maybe more days a week and should be cut some slack when it comes to things like this when big companies could care less I say we don't get enough from most big companies just enough for us not to leave. But this makes you a bad person ? Robin hood stole from the rich and gave to the poor but he still stole. There are rapists and killers you can talk to about honor.

if you have insurance through Asurion... then yes!
I dropped my HTC Aria off a balcony one night while enjoying some beverages and it broke into half a dozen pieces. I went online and filed a claim through Asurion's website. $50 later... I was sent a Samsung Infuse!
I was very happy... nice little upgrade for me!
Be careful, because if you file another claim within the same year... they will cancel your insurance and you will be SOL if it happens again... So only throw your phone at the wall once every year or so

I threw a phone against a wall once (never argue with a woman over the phone). I was ready to pay full price for a new phone (because i was stupid). Since i had insurance on the phone the ATT guy told me to file a claim and report it as lost/stolen.. I did it and paid my $50 deductible and got a replacement phone.
I don't recommend to anyone to do this but if you have the insurance you may as well use it..

Unfortunately HTC still can't figure how to make phone that is dust free.
I have some. But it's a nonissue to me. I didn't notice it until I was shining a flashlight on it to make sure I got everything off before applying my screen protector. It doesn't affect the screen at all.

Well sometimes best buy has a mobile customer service
They helped me last time with a headphone jack problem, and fixed it no problem just for a little cost
You dont have to buy ur phone there for them to be able to help you.
Make sure you talk to someone that actually knows about phones, or most likley they will just say "Replacement"
which gets super annoying. and over charge you with a stupid price.
All comes to worse, go to the carriers shop, but I would keep that a last priority.
All of them have price rangers, you just gotta find which is the cheapest...

Nope, Ill tell you what happened. I have been having problems with the evolution mods kernel rebooting my phone, after i tried the "fixed" version.
So i flashed the full firmware from the 1.55.602 update (im running a stock rom with bloating removed) and i removed the hboot from the zip. Since im running a custom hboot with the text removed. Thinking i could just reflash the stock kernel.
i flashed it, did a fastboot reboot and now its deader than a hammer.
no charge, no usb activity, no turn on. dead as can be. Ill take any and all suggestions. I know my way around pretty well, so im surprised that its bricked. But its the first M8 brick, unless someone has a clever idea?

So i had edged up from my M7, ended up selling that for 400. Got the M8, had 2 payments made, bricked it. So i had to pay off the 500 on the edge. Now whats interesting if you early payoff the edge, you are out of contract, COMPLETELY. So i ended up with a free standard upgrade, so i was able to edge again. thats a FYI if anyone is interested. Kinda sucks, but i made my money back already fixing computers this week. Any idea what i did wrong, i have flashed M7 & M8's & DNA's so many times....I know my way around. Im still baffled
