Why would you want that ? The volume key is the better choice

I would think power key is better. Anyways, if you have cm7 there is an option for it in camera

I apologize if the answer to this is obvious. I tried searching the forums for an answer, and couldn't find anything.
What I'm wondering is whether there is a way to assign one of the volume buttons as the "take a picture" button for the camera. I'm rooted and running BAMF Remix 1.6. Thanks in advance.
Edit: Just found out that the volume buttons work as the zoom. So, what about using the power button?
I haven't used it personally, but there is an app named button remapper that might do the trick for you. Check the market for it.
Some third party camera apps let you use volume for snapping the picture also. I use the Vignette for that purpose.

Hello to all,
i know that rcmix3d tweaks make possibile to take photos with volume camera but my mod is a little different.
With this mod you can use VOLUME UP key of your DHD as the CAMERA button of others devices with a dedicated phisical key!!
So a long press on VOLUME UP starts camera up and while your are in camera you can take photo with volume up.
The disavantage is only one, you cannot use your volume up anymore as usual volume up function but in 3.5sense rom is very easy to change volume since you can set volume down and slide in the volume bar to increase or decrease it!!
So no problem for me
I have tested it with Virtuous Affinity v2.05.0 and i have replaced the stock sense 3.5 camera with sense 3 camera since i really love self potrait mode to take photos and a more scenes profiles!!
This package not contains sense 3 camera!
INSTALL ISTRUCTION
As always made a nandroid backup first!! I'm not responsable of any type of damage!
Simply flash the attached file, if you want to revert to normal situation flash restore package.
I think it works on all sense 3.5 rom, i have NOT tested it on sense 3 rom. Please report back if it works and how works on sense 3 rom like ARHD or LeeDroid.

Is possible to use the button to take pictures in the camera and use it to increase the volume in other applications? it would be great!

How about instead of volume up to click photos you do it up then down (quick action) capture? That wont affect the music and all that stuff ..i dont know the technicalities...sorry if this idea is totally stupid

Yed i can but... After How you can adjust your volume? I had this problem too but I have repaired my button

I just can't send it to any HTC repair shop near me, the phone's 1-year warranty is finished & if I'd mail it to them for repairs -- it'd cost me around USD 85 to 120.
That's how it goes around here in the middle east, especially when you are not situated in Dubai. I'm using JAYS headset app(before it was headset button controller app).

When taking a snap of me and the lady its hard to click on the on-screen button.

Yeah, I was literally shocked when i got the device. Is there a button shortage in htc land.

I'm pretty sure this question has been addressed somewhere but I don't know if they got anywhere with it. My solution is to use a 3rd party camera app for those instances. There are a few that support the volume key as a shutter. Camera360, Camera ZOOM FX and Vignette are all capable of taking regular pictures using the volume. Just make sure you go through each ones settings to make sure its setup how you like. Vignette likes to take pictures with random effects until you tell it to stop on first startup for example.
Hi everyone, I'm currently running clean rom 3.0 de and was wondering if there was a way to skip to the next track using the volume rockers when the screen is off? Also I would like to use the volume rockers as the camera shutter. These were things that I have grown a custom to when I was running CM7 on my nexus one.

Yes some ROMs support this. If I were a betting man I would say when cyanogenmod 9 gets official support for the HTC one x out will have the feature you are taking about

If your on a vipers Rom there is an option to use volume buttons to take pictures. And on albinoman887 jellybean Rom there is the option to take pictures with the power button I believe unless I'm thinkig of a different Rom. I'm not sure. I would check for you but I myself am back.to gingerbread for the amaze camera mod. And I wouldn't mind if there was a button mod for myself but I doubt it.

for me it will be very good if i take a picture with the power button (easy and Very accurate)
i never tried the amaze camera, it improve the quality of pictures?
i'm using ARHD 7.2 now.

Yes the quality of pictures is much better IMO but what I like the most is how good the focus is (macro mode) but yh the amaze mod doesn't include what your looking for either (power button shooter) but like I said if you want to try albinoman887's Rom instead or ask in that thread someone should be able to answer for you. I am 98% sure it has the option to shoot pics from power button but my memory isn't serving me well. If you'd like to stay on ARHD 7.2 then I'm sorry I can't help you as I don't know of any mod for this Rom. I myself am looking for this mod but for ARHD 4.1.13. Hope someone is able to help you.

it seems like i should leave ARHD ,maybe i will do it, but now i want to stay in ARHD 7.2.
