[Q] volume rocker question not sure where to post - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi everyone, I'm currently running clean rom 3.0 de and was wondering if there was a way to skip to the next track using the volume rockers when the screen is off? Also I would like to use the volume rockers as the camera shutter. These were things that I have grown a custom to when I was running CM7 on my nexus one.
Thanks for your feedback

Yes some ROMs support this. If I were a betting man I would say when cyanogenmod 9 gets official support for the HTC one x out will have the feature you are taking about

How to increase volume in ear and speaker

In settings, call settings, hearing aid (HAC) makes the phone louder.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
yeah, that will certainly make it louder! i've used that many times before, but the downside is that you cannot control the earpiece volume; it remains, ear splitting loud!!!
Good to know...lol. i definitely have to say the volume of the inspire 4g is the only thing about the phone i dont like.

There's a couple of fixes available for the low sound problem. I installed Volume + and it significantly increased the ringtone volume - which was my complaint, since I'd missed calls.

Which app did you install? I searched AppBrain for Volume + and came up with Volume Control + but no Volume + by itself.

Search the Market for Volume+ Meltus and you will easily find it. XAviierG's method is free however.
edit: if you've got any other dedicated volume/equalizer type of applications (such as DSP Manager which comes with several ROMs) you will want to disable them, as they will conflict with Volume+ and cause FC's, in my experience. However, equalizers that are built into various music apps (such as Power Amp) will work just fine.
haha well if your roooted, most roms automatically provides sounds boosts.

Speaker Volume on S-off sensation

Hello everyone, I am starting this thread to find if there are any Devs who can figure out on what is really wrong on the Sensation's speaker volume.
My experience during my HD2 days, I flashed different android roms with some low volume and some have high or loud volume. I think it had to do with the Rom. Is there any ways for the Devs who will make or currently making custom roms to take a look on this? Maybe there is an adjustment in the rom itself where you can override or adjust the overall volume of the speaker. Just a thought, thank you all more power.

Gave ya a thanks for asking this one in the hopes that a dev takes notice.
The external speaker volume ( or lack thereof ) is the only thing that chaps my ass about the Sensation.
You should try using Volume+ it solved my speaker problem

Using it now with the settings suggested in one of the posts around here, it's still pathetic ( almost as pathetic as my old ass ears ).
voodoo sound and video is what the sensation needs combine that with OC/UV it will be insane
Great question, imho. Still have my HD2 (soon upgrading to Sens.), and I'm well aware of the volume level being all over the place with different roms. It seemed as if they weren't even aware, although with all the complaints I don't understand how.
Volume+ is a band-aid workaround, while the issue should just be fixed altogether. I doubt it's a hardware issue.
Volume+ does works
Did you try Equaliser or DSP Manager?
Boosting treble can increase the volume output

midrange is most of the good volume. I think we have plenty of treble already. I boost +15 with a slight mid hump and it sounds great!
I got to play with an evo this past weekend and the volume on that phone is incredible. I'm hoping to get nearly the same levels from my sensation. Tried the market fixes with no real improvement. Thanks for bringing this issue up. The previous answers to the problem were either the market app fixes or wait till s-off. Now we have it....subscribed.

Volume+ and equalizer works, but it would be nice to have a volume hack like the Inspire built into the roms.

I agree with you all about the App market volume or any other, but would like a built in the Rom itself, permanent.

Mine is still a bit quiet even with volume +
I'm also disappointed with volume on htc sensation. I've tried volume+ but it made no difference!
Interesting question. Following this post now.
Anybody knows if there is a working version of DSP manager for the Sensation??!

Same here.
Even tried to play with the echosettings and stuff, but nothing happened.
Alas Volume+ is not compatible with all custom roms, Equaliser and DSP are...from my experience on DHD.
On N1 volume boost was included in Kernels
If the Sensation has the same speaker as N1 and DHD don't expect miracles, the trick is too boost treble to the maximum, it will make ringtones loud but it will kill the quality too.
The only 2 things that are refraining me to swap my sgs2 to Sensation are the speaker and death grip

Hardware Camera Key

Folks, I've a question.
Am I the only one who misses the good old days when phones used to have proper hardware camera keys on upper right corner (in landscape) where they're supposed to be?
I've searched and searched but can't find the reason or inspiration to get rid of that. Is it just that we're going towards a fully mechanical keyless device evolution?
Not happy about that!
What do poeple think?
My sidekick 4g has one and it came out only a year or two ago.

That's an exception
Most HTCs are without it.
And my 10 posts are up. I can now post in dev threads.
Xperia S came in March and it have it.

My G2 has one and it is very useful, but just recently flashed a rom that has touch to focus and lately haven't use the hardware button that much, the one x, s, and galaxy s3 will have the option of taking pictures while shooting video so there is an excuse of not having the button
Atrix doesn't but atrix 2 does. I like camera buttons. It feels much more like a camera.

Amaze has one as well. But I'm also frustrated that they seem to be doing away with it.

Sorry to piss in your puddle but the Maxx doesn't have a physical camera button.

Seems kind of pointless to have a hardware camera key these days. Because of the touch screen. And also the size of my One X plays a big role in that too.

You bastard! ooh well. I thought the review I watched showed one. Thanks.
My Dell Venue too has a hardware button
If you still have buttons on your phone you can remap them to be the camera key.
Sent from my HD2 using xda vip edition
Rather than having a specific camera key (after all, not everyone uses the camera) it would be more useful to have one or two wakeup keys, for which the user can target whichever apps he wants.
There are MODS for that. Example: HERE for Droid Charge.
sony xperia pro, not even a hardware camera key, also hardware keyboard. Feel's so good when you can actually USE the display, and don't have to use half of it for onscreen keyboard.
I use to like using the hardware camera button on my G2, but for some reason when I do use it the picture comes out blurry due to the force needed to depress the button. I found it much easier to use the touch screen to take the picture. But that's probably user error? I'm hopeful.....
SE Xepria X10a- Has one
Samsung Captivate (i897)- Nope
Motorola Atrix 2- Has one
HTC Vivid- Nope
But I do miss the actual hardware key, though touching the screen to focus is cool, somewhat miss that "click" feeling.....
I wouldn't mind a hardware key. It makes it a lot easier to open the camera quickly from any app which is good if you only have a few seconds to capture a shot.
Sent from my VS920 4G using XDA
imho
in my opinion when the screen gets bigger and the phone has less hardware buttons, like the new one x it is more than useful to have a f'king camera button.
thats the thing i really like on the windows phone 7 phones and missing on the android side.

Better speaker sound 4 HTC one X ??

So hey I love this HTC one x. But I have the volume boost up to 10 and the bass to 5 and it sounds a little better. I'm upsesed with ringtones. And notification sounds to play in public. But the sound Kinda ! Sucks. Is there something I am missing. I'd like to boost the volume considerably along with bass. I mean on the outside. Without making the speaker distorted and all that. Thanks!

Maybe if you are rooted try DSP manager. It should help you increase the volume a biit!
First next time post in the right fourm section (htc 1 > q&a http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1548)
And to your problem try volume + its a few bucks on the market but there's a link kn the descreption to get it for free

Boost speaker volume?

Downloaded volume + and
Dsp manager to boost the volume of the speaker. Volume + boosted it when I raised it to 15 or something. And then it stopped working. Then I downloaded dsp manager. And it does OK. But. I wanna keep it louder when I have it on. As I posted this. We don't have the boot loader unlocked. And I'm thinking a custom rom would help. But idk. Does anyone know what I should do

Go to the volume + forum. Androidaudiohacks. There is a sound file you also have to copy over to your system/etc folder for volume + to work well

So I applied that file n system ect. And rebooted the phone. And it gets louder but then gets really low again. Is there something else?

I've been using Volume+ for quite a while now, and it's worked great on every phone and os (gb+ics). I purchased the paid version because it has more features. I'm running Sick Sense. It's on level 12 and its pretty loud.

Seems the hack only works on some custom roms like app dev said. I'm on clean rom and it's not working with the nodded system files. I'm not sure it's completely optimized for ics sense of users anyway as many ppl in the app forum are reporting it not working properly.

Really? what was your setup like if you don't mind sharing?
I usually turn on a song then open volume + and play with the settings. Enable custom eq and play with the volume slider. It seems like you'll have to play with it to stick. Some levels don't make any change .
