september, hmmm. just in time for the attain and i5(presumably, though those phones might be more like november for all we know), also the captivate will wait for the infuse to get the update, just like i said months ago. i wish they would just push updates asap instead of trying to control market values of the devices. who cares if the captivate comes with 2.3 and is similar to the infuse. if all the devices on the shelves had the newest possible update all the time then wouldnt all the current devices be more valuable? the vibrant didnt get 2.2 till after the sgs4g came out, im getting tired of this game, we know samsung can write the firmware, why cant they push it out on the current devices and make new devices more valuable by just making the next phone that much better?

How do you figure? If I still owned an Atrix I'd be pissed off if the Infuse got an update before the Atrix did considering the Atrix has been out longer.
Fudge! I want it and I want it now!!!

Maybe because they're doing it in the order the phones came out this year? It's only fair, they've been waiting much longer than we have.
Do we really need to wait for the ATT GB update? Ain't the Roger's Infuse coming out with GB and all we need to wait is for someone to dump it and devs can get right on it.
Great news for captivate owners! Gingerbread is coming! Lol
What I wanna know is, will we be getting 2.3.3, or 2.3.4?
I hear the latter is better

ICS was just announced a few minutes ago. And then I started to wonder if we were going to get it at all. We don't even have an official GB build. So do u guys think we're going to get ICS, or GB for that matter?

Yes we will get ICS

Probably only via CM9.
I will be very surprised if Samsung made a TW ICS build specifically for the SGS4G.

No. No. And...... no.
Unofficially probably. No way is our outdated phone going to see an official build. It changes to much of the phone and how it looks.
The average dumbass would freak out if they updated and things changed. No.way would a phone manufacturer do that. Ever.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
I think we will get GB and then we are done. When this happens is when you need to buy a new phone.
I'd be happy with official GB right now. ICS seems highly unlikely.
I wouldnt hold my breath officially, but our awesome developers here are sure give us some ice cream lovin. Probably before we get official GB lol
Isn't google directly giving us ICS.

They give you a stock build of it yes. But you need drivers, a kernel and suck to make it work with out hardware.
All of which we don't even have for gingerbread correctly let alone ics.

any one want to buy my sgs4g
actually, they are giving a fully functional universal build.
No and Im not sure why people even think we will get an unofficial version, didnt we only get a ghetto version of Gingerbread after an official Samsung leak? Why on earth would Samsung even attempt to make an ICS version for this phone? They need to actually make something to leak it, which is pretty much impossible given Samsungs business model.

Lol same with me. An android might have the best specs to date but without any devs, the phone is just another paperweight.
And on topic, I wouldn't get the Skyrocket just because the battery trade off isn't worth it. I'd go with the S2 if you're in a rush for a phone now but if you're willing to wait, then I hear Samsung's going to reveal the S3 in Q2.

Until the next OS Jelly Bean rolls out, You Won't see any Cpu development as far as apps and games using dual core..... It's a waiting game right now.

u might also check the htc sensationXL ... its a better buy..
Wait a few weeks and get the Note.
While the SGS3 will have better technology (better camera, quad-core, possible curved screen) it will only be a smidgen bigger than the Infuse. Not big enough IMO. I'd have screen envy whenever I'd see someone's Note.
Note will be the true monster of the smartphones for a long time.
if you are looking at the current line up of att phones then skyrocket is best. LG nitro is a total sgs2 rip off and even with the 1.5 ghz snapdragon dual core its a pig. I used one in the store on a fresh reboot and it was laggy as hell, it was a total disappointment and I hate sense so HTC isn't even in consideration for me. if you can see if they'll order a i777 sgs2 I'd get that despite the lack of lte. otherwise wait for something with some more development or the sgs3 or something.
Definitely wait for the sgs3 I read somewhere that it might have a 4.65 in screen so I'm waiting for that and if its like the sgs2 there will be plenty of development for it.

Cool let me know I actually just got the s2 from a friend for 150 and no contract i couldn't pass it up lol
I just moved to one of these from a HTC Incredible I've been running ICS on since January and I have to say, it's hard to go back to GB, but the phone is just so much better and it's the only sub 4" phone that has a dual core procesor and is reasonably priced out of contract. Anyways, hoping for ICS sooner rather than later!
ICS will be out tonight for the Galaxy S 2 ...Anyone here how long it will be until the Blaze is updated to ICS?

I'm looking forward for the source to drop. Since the T989 uses the same general chipsets we do, I'm hoping the source will build and work for our phones (with a little coercion). It's amazing how little official msm8660 stuff there is out there.
I swear, finding source, info, etc on this stupid little phone has been a labor of love, and I run into dead ends everywhere I go :-(

The Charge really is way underpowered. All the later phones are much more powerful. They're not going to ever put any effort into this wimpy phone. FP5 was just the fix for the embarrassing crap software they were running on it before. Just run Tweaked 3.0 and keep it til you can get something better.

This.
The Charge has always been a good phone, the problem is they gave the phones before and after it better hardware/software. Even the Thunderbolt which was released before the Charge is supposed to get some ICS love(official) and has ROMs for ICS. The Charge has always been over looked and under appreciated. If it had been given proper hardware and a lil lovin' it would be right below the Nexus. At this point it is ridiculous that Samsung won't just give up the RIL so that some more can be done to try and bring the Charge back from the dead. All I gotta say is thank god Dwitherell stuck it out and made the Charge more of what it should have been.
I have a question, if this is a slightly refreshed Nexus S, and the Nexus S can run both ICS and JB, then why can't this phone? From a hardware perspective, I know Samsung obviously doesn't want to spend the time and money to create ICS for their bastard child phone.

It's not about phone capabilities, really. It's about 2 things. First, this is a limited user base device. Second, this is a skinned device, and there's not enough room in the system partition for the skinned version of ICS or JB to run.
AOSP ICS and JB do run, and from what little I messed with CM9 on the Charge, it ran quite nicely. There's no mobile data with it though, because the RIL has proven to be tough to crack, but as far as hardware capabilities, it can run stock...just not the TouchWiz skinned versions.
