Hey,
Is it possible to make a app that auto sends a SMS when a new sim-card is replaced in the phone?
If the person who got my phone (yes, its lost) inserted a sim-card in it, it would send a SMS to a specific number?

Things like Seekdroid have this (sort of) You can poll your device from the Web Page and it will tell you the phone number of the currently inserted sim card, last 10 calls made/received etc.

Thanks! Maybe I should try it on my next device

I have a twin simcard solution, and it works nice, but with one annoying thing. When i'm sending SMS from my twin card, the receiver doesn't see my number, just the twin cards number. Kinda frustrating... Is there any Android app that lets you specify witch number should be displayed on the receivers phone, so that I could chose my real number?
What kind of handset do you have? It might be something in the hardware not correctly supported by Android.
The only solution I can think of is to SMS via a Google Voice number with the Voice application.
There are call faker apps, but nothing for SMS.
I hope there is no way to do what you want. If there was you could send texts from ANY number. That would be a pretty big security hole.

Hi all.
Is there a way to set owner info in Nexus S, instead of creating a "me" contact or whatever?
I want to set my info, and it would be good if I could call me (e.g. I'm at work and want to call my wife at home).
I was also wondering this.
I would like to set a picture for myself when I text I see the android image.
What about something like this?

I have found a way. My SIM must contain my number, so the contact I have created for me is associated to the SIM number.
The problem is that my SIM card did not contain it (you can check it in settings->about phone->phone status), and Android can't write it to the SIM. So I took it, put in an old V3 RAZR (there I can edit it), put my cell number in the SIM card, and got it back to my Nexus S.
Done! Now, for example, my contact card/picture is shown within the messages I send.
Hi,
I have a Xiaocai X9 dual sim phone. I have two sim cards with complementary contracts. The first sim comes with free texts and internet, while the second sim card comes with free calls. However, if I accidentally use the first sim card for calls or the second for texts and internet, it can get pretty expensive.
I use MIUI and often it automatically selects sim card 1 instead of 2 for calls. Therefore, I need a way to disable or block all outgoing calls on sim card 1 and ideally all outgoing texts and internet connections for sim card 2.
Please post here if you know a solution. Thanks!
Does anyone know a handset or app which allows you to restrict calls to small set of numbers, while allowing SMS to any number?
I've been playing around with my HTC Desire S, and you can use Fixed Dialing Numbers (FDN) to restrict calls to a small set of numbers, but that also restricts SMS to that same set of numbers.
I'm using miui v5. While making call it asks from which
Sim you want to place call. Also for sms while sending sms you get 2 options sim1 sim2 select appropriate option to send sms. I have not seen any song to set default option for sms/call

I also use MIUI v5. There are certain scenarios when MIUI automatically starts a call with sim1 without the prompt. Furthermore, there is also the risk to accidentally select the wrong sim card for a call or a text message - as it happened to my once. I therefore still try to find a fool-proof solution - either an app or an OS.
Hi guys
I have the same problem and seriously want to solve this problem with miui v5 on TCL s950
when I'm trying to make a call from contacts list it use sim1 automatically!
If it haave any solution please help....
Once I had an HTC Touch HD, running Windows Mobile. Windows Mobile had the option of calling anonymous unless the called number is in the contacts. On later smartphones, using Android, I have used the app Prefixer, to achieve the same result. Prefixer can add the prefix *31# to numbers I call from my contacts. That way calls are made anonymous, unless the number called is in my contacts.
Recently I switched to another carrier, and Prefixer is no longer working. Even manually adding the prefix to a number does not work. If I dial for example *31#0123456789 the phone app is only showing 0123456789. I don't know if this is normal, or that the prefix should be shown.
I can't directly contact the provider's customer service, because I now have a contract via my employer. Before I try to do that anyhow, I would like to ask the question here first: is the problem caused by network configuration of my current provider (or the SIM card)? Or is there a setting in Android that I missed, that disables a prefix to be sent when calling a number?

The carrier has enabled it. Problem solved.
I have to ask you gurus.. this is getting annoying. i have one private sim, and one work sim.
i call and text with both depending if it is work related or not.
the way f.ex motorola/huawei handles dual sim is so much better, automatically using which sim i used last, for a call/text to a specific number.
but with samsung`s way of handling this, i have to edit each contact to select preferred sim to use.
am i missing something here?
Mine always uses /defaults to whatever sim i originally used to call a number. I can change to a different sims if I want but otherwise it just does it automatically

Every time you make a call even to a number you called already on default sim? Are you using Samsung phone app?

yep, it was like that on my S20 FE also. every time i get a pop up asking which sim to use. i have to manually edit a contact to make it use the desired sim.
Try to use the TrueCaller application for default Call & SMS and it will stay with the simcard which one was the last used for both Call & SMS....mate.
The way Samsung used to have the dialler was with two call.buttons, one for each sim. That was much better than today.
