Hows the battery life so far? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

From you guys who already got the AT&T one x, how is the battery life compared to phones you've owned previously?

Only had it 1 day but I think it will be superior to or at least on par with my old galaxy s2
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

It'll take a few cycles to be accurate
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium

Had it since Thursday. Third cycle so far.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

Mines great on 3G, 4g is crazy on battery tho.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

I'm surprised there are not more posts on this. So how is it fellas?

had the phone since ten AM Thursday and it still has odd battery life. about 4-6, maybe 8. But this could just be me and it needing cycling. it does do some odd stuff, similar to what my GS2 did. Battery meter shows 95%, reboot and it will be 83% or maybe 99%, its a crap shoot.

After 3 full days:
16 hrs w/ 2hrs to go with light usage.
Monday when I am back at work will be the real test.
So far, the best battery life than any of my phones in the past 6months.
(Note, SGII SR,Vivid,Infuse)

There are.

This is from my first full charge cycle and it will likely be another hour or two before it dies. I'm in an lte market and was on lte probably 6 or 7 hours here. Rest on WiFi.

Great so far
So far the best of any android phone I've owned. It arrived with a dead battery, I fully charged and got excellent battery life. This is from my second charge usage. I keep screen brightness around 30-35% cause otherwise it bothers my eyes (I wear glasses).

it didn't for me either, but volume down + power button did.

Are you using a different launcher? Wondering if that's why the screenshot function isn't working. Just guessing.

I've heard the battery is great especially from all of the major reviews... I just picked mine up 10 hours ago and so far it seems excellent.

Recessed Power Button

Alright, I've gotten one solid response from a user, but I want more responses from others, if they can.
I just came from the Inspire forums, where I developed and everything, but one thing that bothered me about the Inspire was the terrible build quality (Especially the power button), where the power button would become recessed into the housing, making it hard to press.
My question for everyone here, has your power button begun to recess into the One X housing? How often do you use your phone?
Build quality issues are truly a thing of the past on this phone.
Mine is good.
Mine hasn't done that at all.
Maybe its defective
Edit: My power button has become less clicky since this post.

I use my phone damn heavily and I've got no issues with my power button. I would like it to be farther out to begin with, but it hasn't deteriorated at all from its original state. I have used a case since about a week after i got the phone though.
I just got the Incipio Silicrylic case, and from what I can tell, the power button hasn't changed. Sometimes I hit it, and don't realize I hit the button, but the screen turns on. But most of the time I can feel the succinct click, and know I hit it.
Not supposed to "hit" buttons. Press and caress. Sorry off topic

Trade off between sleek design and extended battery

I've been looking at some extended battery's for the AT&T One X. And they're absolutely hideous. I found this to be the best http://www.prweb.com/releases/ATT/HtcOneX/prweb9778396.htm but it completely changes the design and feel of the phone and it costs $100.
I don't expect to have this phone for more than 2 years so it might not be worth to spend that much on a battery. I'm looking at something under $30.
Have you guys found something better? Something that doesn't change the look/feel of the phone by much? Maybe a battery case that can be removed when the extra battery isn't needed.
I don't even use a case on my phone because i like the way it looks and feels. But sometimes i need the phone to last 5-6 hours of heavy usage and that's impossible with the stock battery.

Flashing Custom rom will enables you to achieve 5-6 hrs heavy usage and there is still 20% left.

+1 on that. I have one of the rechargeable battery packs that I carry with me that is compatible with my phone and other mobile devices. Just plug it in for a half hour or so and you have enough charge on your phone to keep going. Not as intrusive as you might think and it's only temporary and usually out of sight (say when you're walking somewhere you don't need your phone).
Personally, I would NEVER get one of those battery pack cases. Like you said, it destroys the look of the phone.

Ignore the iStuff marketing--it works with any USB charging. This one has two ports, so it will charge two phones at once (useful for me, since my wife and son are always letting their phones run down) as well as my HOX and Nexus 7.

Overheating problems?

I recently had a friend of mine who works for AT&T tell me that HTC admitted recently that the HTC One X has a battery overheating problem where it the phone will essentially get so hot that the parts inside will melt. Supposedly this has been an annoying issue because it's particularly difficult to test for when customers trade in their old equipment since the phone is sealed. As an One X owner I found this to be a little disconcerting to hear since I actually love my phone a lot, especially after putting ParanoidAndroid on it, and don't want it to fail me. Learning this made me wonder though if by installing PA I may have extended the life of the phone due to the better software... so I thought I'd ask.
What precautions can we take to ensure that our phones don't overheat? Will installing a new ROM in and of itself extend the life of the phone? Is there any software available that will make better use of the phones battery? What do you know about the heating issue and how has it affected you?
Don't believe. The only time I heard of a phone/device melting was due to defective battery.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Definitely not as bad as melting, but sometimes will get ridiculous hot and run out of battery fast. Not often though, can be solved by restarting.
Sent from my Nexus 7
don't sleep on your phone at night. my phone slides under pillow sometimes when i sleep and it overheats and turns off.
You could just call HTC and ask, although I don't they would admit to something like that.

It needs to get A LOT hotter than anyone has yet stated theirs to be in order to melt anything inside.

If these phones were melting down like this, you would be hearing about it from people who've actually had it happen.
I had overheating issues. Phones display would stay on and get extremely hot until the battery died. Did this twice before my replacement arrived. I don't think it melted anything, but it was hotter than any of my other phones have ever gotten.

But seriously, can someone answer my original question? I want to know if changing the OS effects the temperature of the phone in a positive or negative way, or perhaps extends the life of the device. That would be great.

Skyrocket went to cell phone heaven

Well my trusty and beloved Skyrocket finally gave up the ghost due to a busted power button. I didn't want to return it again for another one as the call quality wasn't ever very good lots of people always complaining that they could not understand me. So I went and got me an HTC One. I quickly found out after getting it that it didn't come with an SD Card slot.............ARGHHHHH! And I also cannot use an extra battery which I always carried with me on the Rocket. This phone seems to be much better behaved battery wise after a day of using it but I will reserve judgement until I fully charge it and use it for a day. I am going to use all day tomorrow and see how I like it and if it doesn't measure up (probably won't) I am returning it for a GS4 or maybe wait for the GS4 Active if I have time???
Keep the one. It's an amazing device and the battery will surprise you. I recommend you install arhd and greenify. I get outstanding battery life. Far better than my old rocket.
