Alright, I've gotten one solid response from a user, but I want more responses from others, if they can.
I just came from the Inspire forums, where I developed and everything, but one thing that bothered me about the Inspire was the terrible build quality (Especially the power button), where the power button would become recessed into the housing, making it hard to press.
My question for everyone here, has your power button begun to recess into the One X housing? How often do you use your phone?
Build quality issues are truly a thing of the past on this phone.
Mine is good.
Mine hasn't done that at all.
Maybe its defective
Edit: My power button has become less clicky since this post.

Nope. Still as good as the day I got it.
I wish it wasn't so tapered to the phone though, and that it was a little more out like the Gnex.

Just because of the power button? What if you get a phone with any number of other more serious problems people are having? There are a lot of quality control issues with this phone.

Mine works like a charm. Maybe you're pressing it too hard?
I must have pressed the power button a bagillion times when I was in boot loop. Still works well at this point.

I use my phone damn heavily and I've got no issues with my power button. I would like it to be farther out to begin with, but it hasn't deteriorated at all from its original state. I have used a case since about a week after i got the phone though.
I just got the Incipio Silicrylic case, and from what I can tell, the power button hasn't changed. Sometimes I hit it, and don't realize I hit the button, but the screen turns on. But most of the time I can feel the succinct click, and know I hit it.
Not supposed to "hit" buttons. Press and caress. Sorry off topic

Hi can someone here test if you see a red violet spot on screen when pressing a little harder in the bottom corner of the screen right above the search button. It only does it in that corner for me and not anywhere else. So I'm just wondering if this is normal.

No noticeable color distortion when pressing the screen near the search button here.
Hope this helps!
Thank you. That really sucks for me. This is the 5th device I am going to return and this will be the last one...so many issues I can't believe it. BTW even if I press with my thumb right on the search button and press a little it show the color change mostly visible on white screen. Can you please try on the Google page or somthing with white background and press a little harder and hold it for 3 sec.

The only way I could get the distorted color to appear was using a significant amount of pressure.
Mine does it too in that corner. Little **** like that bothers the hell out of me

Mine doesn't do it until I press really hard... oh shi%$ I just pushed my finger all the way through the phone! Kidding....
But seriously, sounds like you need to take it back and swap for a new phone. It shouldn't be doing that.
Honestly, I can't imagine ever using that much pressure...I had to squeeze pretty hard. Are you guys seeing it under normal use?
@mj2508 Same here.. stuff like that bothers me that's why I want to know if it is every device that does this. If it is well maybe I can live with it, but if not its going right back to the store and I will never touch HTC again. I know it's not what people want to hear, but you have to realize that the HTC Inspire 4G is the cheapest Android Smartphone EVER released, and the direction things are going are to make devices cheaper, and decrease build quality. This is the first of many new devices that'll come out like this.
Coming from iPhone, I noticed the volume and power rockers just aren't as firm, and the overall quality (ie the battery cover and the sim\msd cover) are just cheaply made. It was the same thing Blackberry did in 2009 when they went to a more plastic-based model line.
On the flipside, you can buy 2 for the same price as an iPhone, so you're really getting a good value.
Bottom line: You get what you pay for, and everyone was so shocked the no-commit price on the Inspire 4G was $399, now you know why.
But it's a great device!

You know who will be shocked, the sales man in the store when I return this thing for the 5th and last time. I mean I also like the phone but cheap quality just doesn't do it for me. They probably made the unibody metal so it will hide the cheap of this phone.

Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
About the same as mine which is way more than one needs to be pressed.

On mine is very easy to do. No need to mash your thumb or anything. It's just like the pressure you would use to press the power button on top.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Tried again on google homepage, pressed normally and nothing. Pressed harder and nothing. Pressed really hard and I saw the ruby red blob. I'll never press that hard in normal use, ever.
No distortion here either. I mean, I pressed as hard as I would feel comfortable pressing on a lcd.
I can't imagine what problems the op had that necessitated going through four of these phones to get solved.
Try a Captivate sometime. STILL priced ~50-100 dollars MORE than an inspire, yet there are many, many people who are on their second or third captivate. I cut my losses on that one at #2.
Now THAT'S a ****ed up phone model.
Just because the the inspire is priced cheap doesn't mean its built cheap, or that because some people have problems, that its indicative of a cheap phone.

Or just ignore it and enjoy your phone. Does it do it during normal use, or just after you pressed hard on the corners because the OP told you to?
If it moves and makes a noise every time you TOUCH your screen during normal use, I would say it's an issue. If you have to force it by pressing hard, I wouldn't worry about it. Basically did you notice it before the OP brought it up?
It's really not a big deal or even noticeable unless you actually look for an issue...plus the case covers it up...and if you are concerned about something like this, you ought to be using a case anyways, ha.
I'm the op . It was really bad on my inspire. Touching the menu button made the phone click. If they all do it I'm not going to worry about it

If its annoying you then replace it, you just run the gamble of having some other issue that people are having. I personally think because of how hard I usually am to my phones and because I don't use a case this thing is going to be creaking and making all kinds of sounds in no time so I just wont care about it now.
Its like your first brand new car HAS to be perfect and you take it back for every rattle or squeak, by the 4th or 5th you think of it more as a tool that serves a function in your life and the squeaks and rattles don't take priority.
A brand new, freshly delivered, white hox and an equally new gray hox. Neither one has banding,.light bleed or squeaky corners. My squeaky inspire was horrible. And yesterday the volume rocker decided to fall off of the inspire as well.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Lol I noticed this earlier and didn't think much of it. Definitely creaking. Not sure if worth an exchange tho.

Welcome to XDA, where we probe our phones until we find a issue. Lol. Mine doesn't do it unless I go hulk on the corner, which I will never do under normal use. So it's fine to me.

Can't speak for the OP, but I think some people are intentionally looking for problems with the phone. i.e. doing things that wouldn't occur during normal operation, such as pushing down on the screen edges.

I looked for it on this phone because, like dust under the screen, it seems to follow HTC around from device to device.
I'm not one to freak out over little stuff like this, but I just wanted to get the info out there in case it wasn't an isolated incident/defect on MY device.
I'm having the same issue on the bottom left corner. It started to randomly make a clicking noise and then I found this topic. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one but I would rather have a perfect phone!!
I've also noticed the small gap in the lower left allows a little bit of light out so out looks like the seal isn't perfect, hence the clicking too I guess.
I would return it to HTC but after reading other people's posts, it's likely that I could just get another bad one.
Sigh. £400 and it still has issues.
The bottom left of my HTC One X has a little give but I dont think its anything major that should be taken very seriously

So I got my One X 4 days ago and its been a wonderful phone for me, but i got one issue wt it... the volume down key is kinda fkd up and i have to press it real hard or else it doesnt work... i know doing this will only make it worse over time, so should i take advantage of my 30 days and trade it for another One X or keep this one? It's rooted, bootloader unlocked and so I'll have to risk them not checking for the Re-Lock text if i relock bootloader, plus what are the chances that the next One X will or wont have another firmware?? Luckily this one had 1.73, but what if the next one has 2.20 maybe?? Or is that not possible??
I'd live with it for as long as possible until it breaks completely. Especially if being rooted etc is important to you.
I imagine that an exploit will be found eventually. At this point if something happens to my hox I'm replacing it with something else.
My volume down key is super easy to press... I'd honestly replace it if I were you, I change the volume all the time while in a call so that would bug the heck out of me.

Change it. That update is so new, there's still a chance that the new phone won't have it. And the volume button will probably get worse. You could always get a volume app though.

And temporary. His warranty concerns aren't going anywhere regardless of how long he waits. If he gets a 2.20 phone he's without root and whatever he uses it for. Tethering perhaps? Who knows.
So risk being held hostage on a stock rig while hoping and waiting for a 2.20 root exploit, or deal with a volume button issue on a phone that does what you want until the exploit comes.
Is there really a choice here?

Anybody else out there having amazingly bad luck with your GS3? I just got a 3rd refurb and it came with the power button loose, and fell off in under 3 hours when I tried to use it. They are sending me a new unit instead of a refurb this time - priority overnight. This is the 2nd one I've had with a power button that came off! #2 just rebooted randomly more-and-more every day until I gave up figuring it out after a factory reset and "Safe Mode" start - it would still reboot just sitting there. *SMH* :silly:

Jumped up and down, calmly getting elevated from first-line tech until I got the "customer advocate". She agreed that if I had gotten two defective "recertified" phones, I deserved to have a real (new) one. I had to agree to a two year contract, which in my case only adds 9 weeks to my commitment and they agreed not to change my TOS. Basically they did an end run around themselves, because it will look like I upgraded my phone again, allowing them to ship a new unit. *SMH*
