Hi all,
I am switching from Sprint and just ordered a refurbished Skyrocket for $49. I have 30 days to switch to a different phone so what are the chances of the Skyrocket HD or anything else worthy coming out within that period?

Realistically you can't go wrong with a skyrocket. You have 2 devices worth of devs, radio freq. That works on anything but verizon or sprint, which means service can just about be had anywhere, yes maybe no hd display but all the benefits out weigh having hd on a phone

I just bought a skyrocket and don't live in a LTE area...(planning for it this year) I like the phone alot but I noticed not alot of development going on compared to the sgs2. Skyrocket don't have miui which is a pretty popular rom. Anyway, just wanted to ad that tidbit for what's it worth to whoever.

So which nexus device that is on AT&T or will be on AT&T in the next 30 days are you suggesting? If you have a link that would be even better.

the one he is referring to is a gsm galaxy nexus, which you will have to buy off contract in the 5 hundred dollar range. (atleast that's the only one that can compare to the skyrocket) so unless you have 500 to blow you made the best choice on att right now unless you want the giant note

No LTE yeah, but really wasn't your life chugging fine until now anyways? Realistically, if I got to choose again, I'd take the nexus over the skyrocket. The software pains are absolutely horrible compared to the HSPA pains.
There's always the future software upgrades, nexus will keep you on top of them for at least two revisions, don't expect that from AT&T.

Unless you're willing to jack up the $$cash$$ then stick with it. Awesome phone. Fast. Gets you through a day on stock battery. Awesome Devs. Awesome Themers. They are very nice. And I am sure that you will enjoy your stay. Just read up. And if you like stock roms, go Vagabond. If you like native roms, go R3VELATION. If you like ports, go DlevRom. If you like stock.. then.... don't do anything. Go read the super thread over in the Dev thread. And click on every link in qksters signature. THEN ASK QUESTIONS.. if you still have any. I doubt that you will.. they are the most comprehensive guides ever..

Its a fine phone. gets the job done.
I remember when I first got my infuse, I was pretty skeptical Scott Android because I was an iPhone user. The one thing you'll notice about the infuse if how ginormous it is compared to other phones. And with that ginormous size comes with a gorgeous screen along with a very very lightweight device. You'll learn to love this beat and when you compare this phone to other phones, you'll notice that nothing can compare to Samsung's super amoled plus screen. The infuse really is an amazing device and I hope you can enjoy it as much as we do.

You made the right choice assuming you knew what you were looking for.
I did a straight trade on my iPhone 4 32G for the Infuse 4G and could not have been more satisfied. I also just purchased a Galaxy Nexus a few days ago and also preferred the Infuse in a number of ways. I ended up selling the GN and keeping the Infuse 4G, I kid you not!
A few selling points... (If I was to compare the Infuse VS the GN for example)
The GN has a higher pixel density but the Infuse has a better overall screen than the Galaxy Nexus, due to Super AMOLED Plus, the GN still uses a Pentile based Display, a big disappointment in my opinion.
The Infuse also has a Wolfson Microelectronics WM8994 DAC and clearly beats the heck of the GN in terms of audio quality(and the Galaxy S2 as a matter of fact). Just look up Voodoo sound and the mastermind behind it, Supercurio to help you understand it. Or check out this article for an interesting read:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4686/samsung-galaxy-s-2-international-review-the-best-redefined/13
Infuse also has Gorilla glass, a much better capacitive and sensitive touch screen, expandable memory, comparable camera... I could go on and on...
To answer your questions about Roms, I'd recommend Cyanogen Mod 7, Revelation, Aeon, and Zeus for a start.
I typically switch back and fourth between the 4 of them, hope that helps.
-JB
Get it!!! I got mine for 50$ lol
There not might be as much development as a nexus or a captivate but the development this phone has is amazing!!!!!

Not sure if anyone has brought this up but I would be interested in seeing a full port of the GS3 TO THE SKYROCKET! I don't know of any deb's working on this but it would be phenomenal! Um... accidently hit submit but in being taught I think I could help! Also I have been thinking of buying a GS3 but in looking at the specs all that seems different is a slightly larger higher Res screen an s4 processor and correct me of I am wrong but 2gigs of memory? Doesn't seem like enough to jump ship!

It pisses me off how all Samsung really did was update apps. Wow. And I agree completely that we can run whatever it can, because it is still just going to be a dual core processor too lol its really kinda sad how little they added to it...when the note gets ics its going to have better specs and the gs3 is just going to have more ram lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using awesomesauce
It would be really interesting to see if Samsung/AT&T will include some of the features of the SGS3 in the official ICS for our Skyrockets. Time will tell, may even show up in the next ICS leak !!!

And I'm absolutely grabbing that nexus tablet end of this month if it's not just a rumor. I hate waiting but come september supposing apple is on time with its new lineup, I'll be getting a free iPhone 4, 4s, and iPad from my family who is upgrading so I'll have plenty to sell/trade then.

I have a question.... Why are you on this forum exactly? You are using an iPhone to post to XDA, you're signature gave you away. If you look closely, this is technically an Android forum where we are currently discussing importing one ROM to another phone it has nothing to do with an iPhone whatsoever. Wait I thought you couldn't add custom roms to iPhones? Oh wait, you can't! Look man, even if you have multiple phones, apple or Android, you don't have to come on here and talk crap. Many developers, invest there time to fix things that are broken they don't get a check for this unless is through donations. Stop talking crap bro it doesn't look good on you.

I LOVE this phone. No problems. Seriously, it's a great piece of hardware. I think by time my contract comes up next year, it still will feel fresh.
Add me to the list of those who recently "upgraded" from Moto Atrix to S2SR. Atrix was a good phone, but it had a serious restart/reboot problem no matter if I was on a call, texting, listening to music or watching movies/videos. I eventually sold it a month or two ago for a used SR with Otterbox Defender case. Cost of SR - profit from Atrix = $110 out of pocket. I'd say that was worth it...haha!
Anyway, for the S2SR, my only complaint is how often I lose bluetooth and wi-fi (at home) or 4G for data. I'm constantly re-connecting to my headset or checking the "Use Packet Data" box in Mobile Network. I keep a Settings shortcut on my home screen because I lose connection daily...gets annoying.
So do you guys use ODIN frequently? What is a modem? Where does unlocking the boot loader come into place? For the atrix, ODIN is RSD and we usually never use it, its either fast boot or cwm. and we just have kernals and roms and basebands when needed. Sorry for all the questions.
