Just ordered Skyrocket...chances of Skyrocket HD being released in next 30 days - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi all,
I am switching from Sprint and just ordered a refurbished Skyrocket for $49. I have 30 days to switch to a different phone so what are the chances of the Skyrocket HD or anything else worthy coming out within that period?

Realistically you can't go wrong with a skyrocket. You have 2 devices worth of devs, radio freq. That works on anything but verizon or sprint, which means service can just about be had anywhere, yes maybe no hd display but all the benefits out weigh having hd on a phone
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App

I just bought a skyrocket and don't live in a LTE area...(planning for it this year) I like the phone alot but I noticed not alot of development going on compared to the sgs2. Skyrocket don't have miui which is a pretty popular rom. Anyway, just wanted to ad that tidbit for what's it worth to whoever.

gs2 has been our for quite awhile. and this phone is still, contrary to popular belief, quite new, its only been on the market for a few months

So which nexus device that is on AT&T or will be on AT&T in the next 30 days are you suggesting? If you have a link that would be even better.

the one he is referring to is a gsm galaxy nexus, which you will have to buy off contract in the 5 hundred dollar range. (atleast that's the only one that can compare to the skyrocket) so unless you have 500 to blow you made the best choice on att right now unless you want the giant note

No LTE yeah, but really wasn't your life chugging fine until now anyways? Realistically, if I got to choose again, I'd take the nexus over the skyrocket. The software pains are absolutely horrible compared to the HSPA pains.
There's always the future software upgrades, nexus will keep you on top of them for at least two revisions, don't expect that from AT&T.

I thought I'd chime in since I have a Charge and also a Nexus in the household. Nexus has been working perfect, no LTE dropping issues or anything like that. It does display 1 bar lower than the Charge, but that doesn't affect the performance of the phone.

But it's stock 4.0! It's just no comparison to Gingerbread, no exaggerating. It's so much more refined, so much smoother and user friendly. If you can wait a few days for inventory to catch up/delivery you can get it on Wirefly for $240, Amazon ~$200?
These LTE phones are expensive at the $300 price tag, but considering Verizon has 200 million people covered by the 4G network s impressive. My are has LTE everywhere, and only T-mobile has their FauxG as well. No one else.

No I'd rather pay $300 for a TouchWiZ UI.
AOSP is one of the main reasons I bought the nexus. I would gladly pay for the AOSP experience.
I have owned 3 Samsung smatphones. Fascinate, charge and Captivate. I always wondered why people complained about TW. I thought TW was a good UI. Until I used full AOSP.
The difference is HUGE. Don't get me wrong I loved my Charge minus the data drop issue, with the latest gingerbread OTA the charge became a much better device.
I am sure quad core phones will be coming soon but that's no reason to knock the galaxy nexus or someone else's purchase decision.
See, When you buy your quad core phone the next generation of android hardwarw will be just around the corner.
The bottom line is no matter which device you buy, you will always be just behind the next big thing.
The only thing you can do to combat this is buy a GOOGLE device. That way you at least will have the latest software. Just my two cents.

Where are you seeing all these lte issues? Beside even if it is dropping its better than Sprints NO LTE.
I have seen people complaining that it keeps kicking them down to 3g. But you are right the speed difference is huge. And no I don't have to pay an etf. I just have to send then all of my phones. Witch sux I just got the sgs3 two weeks ago

A lot of the lte drop you may be hearing of comes from the cynogen mods and aokp roms. But Verizon has the most solid lte coverage out there.
Plus like it was stated. I'd rather lte drop but have lte as apposed to no lte and real slow 3g speeds from Sprint

I am using AOKP Milestone 6, and after tinkering with a couple things, I have a solid 4G connection. No unexplained drops to 3G in a 4G area for me.
And I agree with what's stated above. There is no way you'll want 3G once you get used to 4G.
stock Rom at the moment works best on this phone I would just stay with that till development matures a bit.

I agree. I use 1 gig in about a week, easily. I definitely wouldn't come to Verizon with their new data plans. You're just asking for a huge bill.
Good bye HTC Rezound, hello Galaxy S3!

I need some advice about my upgrade!

Long story short, I broke my LCD trying to fix the digitizer. I ended up without a phone for a week while waiting for a whole new digitizer and LCD combined...
Worked fine for about a month or so but now is making the phone glitch to the point where its unusable besides voice actions.
I don't care about having the latest and greatest, but do you think around $200 for a used SGNexus is good for the money?
I ABSOLUTELY need unlimited data. Otherwise, I'd have the SGS3 by now...

Maybe worth the $40/month to pick this phone up?

Well, I've wanted this phone since it came out.. I know the S4 is out there but not for Verizon.. I'm wondering if it's worth still picking up for an extra phone to play with and root? Amazon Wireless has it for $19.99 and it's only $40/month for my plan to add a line... Worth the additional line to be able to play around with it? I know it's another contract or whatever ...

Imo, I'd pay for it. The d2vzw has a huge developement community, so you'll have plenty to tinker with.
