Anyone got a 'how to'? - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

OK, so I"m retro. But I'd like a nice little GTP for Dummies book so I can play around with some of the capabilities this device has. I have been goofing around on Android with phones for quite awhile but I really don't have a clue. Like 'Do I have 2 SD cards or just one?' Things like this vex me to no end. Plus I understand how things relate on a PC but not on this for some reason. So a simple "For Dummies" guide would be nice. Help and understanding appreciated...

If you poke around enough on the Samsung site you can find a very extensive pdf manual on the tab plus. I'll try finding it and put the link here.
Edit: here it is. It tells you a lot about most of the capabilities it has along with quick intros to the stock apps.

I actually recommend downloading it and putting it on your Tab that way you have it on you all the time with it and you can't lose it

Thanks bud! I appreciate it!

[Q] Need Advice...

I will be getting one of these in about two weeks. I had to actually pick up my Christmas from my parents and then sadly hand it to them so that they could make me wait...
So, my question to the forum is this... What are the necessary flash(es) to get this going right away. Based on what I've read, I fully intend to do next to nothing with this before flashing away the crappy TnT stuff. Just trying to get an idea of what all should be done... I've read about the Tegra drivers, some custom ROMs out there, is there is a very simple -- 1. this 2. that 3. other
I've been anxiously following the work on the Vega work, it looks very promising. I'm not necessarily looking for instructions on how to flash; I'm fairly comfortable and haven't owned an Android phone that I didn't like to mod. Just looking to pull together some various topics into a "How to make this sweet right away" list.
Thanks for all the help!
[ed] Maybe rephrase the question... If you folks "in the know" got a new one out of the box, what would you do (and in what order if there are dependencies) to make this a nice, stable, quick machine? Thanks again!!
My plan is to have everything on a micro-SD all ready to go as I travel to my parents so I can open it and start fixing
My first suggestion to you would be to continue what you already are doing -- read, read, read.
I did a thread up higher on it being "Worth It" to play with the G-Tablet. There are some suggestions in there on software and things to do now.
But there are numerous threads where people outline what they have done. Those should be a big help.
Good luck and Merry Christmas!!

App to flash/root your phone?

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is an app on android market that flashes your phone for you? How about one that roots it? I'm have no idea if this is even possible, but it would sure be great, since there are a lot of non technical people out there who would really like to try all the new fancy roms around.
thanks
Rafa
There are apps like this, it really depends on what kind of phone you're using. What phone do you have?
Learn to be technical, not ask for handouts..
You think the experienced people here came right into coding an app? Get a how to manual or search google.. There's plenty of tutorials around that could help.. Not saying start a root app, but start with a soundboard our something..
We need more explorers on this site, not beggars.. But good luck in all your future endeavors..

its really easy to do it the legit way.
depending on what phone you have just go to unrevoked and read read read read then read some more i did mine all by myself in a couple hours. the first time around now i am able to root someones phone in less then 20 min. not a big deal once you learn the proper way to do things
teach a man to fish he eats his hole life. (or some **** like that)
Sadly here in Brazil things don't come as cheap as they do for other countries and an unlocked Galaxy S costs about 1000us$, so forgive me if I'm more than a bit iffy about starting to experiment with it.
Getting back to the point, I've read about Universal Androot, but it doesn't support the Galaxy S series.
Find z4 root right here on xda. It'll do it all for you in one click. From there you can get titanium backup and then rom manager. Go to the samsung captivate forum and read all the sticky threads in full. Be thorough and careful and make sure you know what you're doing.
That should take care of you.
Many thanks. Greatly appreciated.

Finding someone to help me with my g tablet

I have a Viewsonic g tablet and have been reading up on how to make it a better tablet. Mainly what I want is the full Google market and being able to use applications like Words with friends which I use on my android phone. I don't feel I have the technical expertise to try the suggested steps on my own. I live in Miami, Florida and was wondering if there is anyone in my area who I could pay to help me with my tablet.
Sorry, you are a bit too far
Check out wordsmith as well.....it runs much better than WWF. I only use WWF with actual friends who only use WWF.
Thank you. I will try it
Why not buy an ipad?
I second goodintention's comment on the iPad... the Gtab is really not all that great without modding it. If you want something that works out of the box, get an iPad.
installs
A lot of good direction are found on this site. it is really very simple and can be rooted and custom rom installed in 15min.
you'll be glad you did
Here is a step by step instruction on how to do all the moddings.

I was going to launch a gtab for dummies website weeks ago, but things have been so busy at work. Our engineering team is trying to beat another team to the punch, so we've been putting in extra hours. I started writing on my website but never got a chance to finish it.
I guess I'll launch my website after we finish this project.

How to root?

Hey everyone. I just got this note pro today from Amazon. I've read about a lot of functionality you can get from rooting your device. The thing is I have no clue how to root a device. I've looked around the internet and to be quite honest I'm still not quite sure how to properly root the device. I was hoping someone could maybe point out or give me step by step instructions on how to root a device. Including making backups and the programs needed. I'm totally a noob in this and quite terrified of destroying a 685.00 dollar device. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take the time out. The reason I'm rooting is because I want to get better battery life and be able to run any app in multiview mode. (Student who wants to go multiview with amazon ebooks and a note taking app)

I'm not sure which Internet your using.... you must not be looking very hard because your answer is in this very forum. In fact , there is a great big thread about it a few lines down. If after reading said thread you still have a question, I suggest asking IN that thread.
Every one here loves to help out, but you gotta put in at least a TINY bit of effort dude.

Noob question about rooting Tab2 7.0

I want to repurpose my Galaxy Tab2 7.0 tablets for use in my RV this summer. They were my kids but they got Kindles for Christmas and I can't throw these away, they are still in good shape. This first one I want to use for a GPS while I drive. They are wifi only so that limits what I can do with them, so a factory reset was done. I am still seeing over half the available space is being used by the crap Samsung puts on these and I want that to go away as well. I know enough about coding/rooting to create a nice little plastic brick out of these. If you can point me to a thread that explains what to do from start to finish I would appreciate it. If there are certain OS's that work the best or are better for my intended use. Again, thanks in advance for any help you can give. I look forward to seeing what these tablets can do, they were good, but I feel they could have been great.
Thanks again,
Joe
