I have a Viewsonic g tablet and have been reading up on how to make it a better tablet. Mainly what I want is the full Google market and being able to use applications like Words with friends which I use on my android phone. I don't feel I have the technical expertise to try the suggested steps on my own. I live in Miami, Florida and was wondering if there is anyone in my area who I could pay to help me with my tablet.
Sorry, you are a bit too far
Check out wordsmith as well.....it runs much better than WWF. I only use WWF with actual friends who only use WWF.
Thank you. I will try it
Why not buy an ipad?
I second goodintention's comment on the iPad... the Gtab is really not all that great without modding it. If you want something that works out of the box, get an iPad.
installs
A lot of good direction are found on this site. it is really very simple and can be rooted and custom rom installed in 15min.
you'll be glad you did
Here is a step by step instruction on how to do all the moddings.

I was going to launch a gtab for dummies website weeks ago, but things have been so busy at work. Our engineering team is trying to beat another team to the punch, so we've been putting in extra hours. I started writing on my website but never got a chance to finish it.
I guess I'll launch my website after we finish this project.
I'm not quite sure of the path of let me hear but this tablet works great. I have soft bricked I've had magic mismatch. And many times I've sat here wondering why I wasted 300 dollars on a useless, do nothing, piece of hammered whale crap. Needless to say I do not feel like that anymore. and it is all thanks to two developers... Robeet and Clemsin. 3 weeks ago when I first got this thing, All I could think of was Trying to get this g tab to do everything I wanted at supersonic speed. And I want it all now! I didn't wanna waste a lot of time so I thought why not just start at the top, and the top to me seem to be honeycomb 3.0. And since honeycomb was not available to us I thought the next best thing would be bottle of smoke. What a mistake that was! I didn't think I can make my crappy paper weight any worse, but now I felt like I had a crappy paper weight and no paper! I knew this not be the end because there's all kinds of people online enjoying their g tabs. I then thought to myself, I'm at xda forum. The brightest minds in the business are here, I'll just ask a question and my problems will be solved. So I posted my question Just knowing that I'll get help, And just like magic poof there was a reply. The devs username was something like ( goodintentions), and with me he had none. I thought an all together devastating online experience. But here I am a few days later, having the most incredible time, being able to even do more than I could with my laptop. I don't even have to touch my g tab anymore, I just speak and there I am, watching, listening, reading, and yes, even posting this!! So burn it into your brain. ( read everything) !! And most important donate to the developers because they don't get paid to help you, but if you think about it they already have. And I'm living proof with a great g tab.
Glad to hear you've had a change of heart after that "bos=bfd" kerfuffle.
what rom are you using now just wondering because i am ready to try something different.im on vegan tab rc1 currently
First of all, I'm the guy that created gtab for dummies website (look in my signature). There's a reason why people like myself recommend people AGAINST using the current honeycomb ports. For now, they are for testers only.
Secondly, you really should check out my website. The info there are not as cluttered.
Can someone with good experiance, possible write up a 'doc', or start a thread on what n00bs can or maybe should do with various things once they for instance root them etc.? (In this instance for the gt-p5113 specifically, if you would.) sure it will be opinion, etc. but for instance I just rooted my samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 gt-p5113 (by the excellent docs here btw, I think they worked flawlessly.) But I just do not know what to do next.....it is freshly rooted.
and by next I do not mean things to use and do WITH it....I know somewhat some of the things I want to do there, but for instance making a backup...probably a good idea, but I do not really know the best way to go about it....or installing super user...it was mentioned, but I have no clue really how, or if they were talking about another device or needing to or not. or installing a firewall or some other type of protection. I don;t know...I guess I am expecting someone to do some thinking for me, and maybe that isn;t always the best thing to do, but it'd sure help me thats for sure, because I'm sorta weary at this point and not yet comfortable messing with it, sorta and could use some verification/validation of thinking with less of the fear of bricking my tech. I literally just rooted it like 5 minutes ago.

It will take a little more than 5 minutes to do your research.
My experience over the years has taught me that doing your own research is far more rewarding than having someone else do it for you and hand everything to you on a plate.
You can take it at your own pace, and you will get a far more rewarding experience of your tech if you put the effort in. Not only will you learn more, but you will discover other things as you search for the answers. This is truly mind expanding stuff, but it requires effort.
And that's the point of Android I find - if you don't want to make the effort and you want someone to do everything for you then buy a product from Apple. They are the masters at making things easy...as long as you are prepared to do things their way, and not expect too much from your device.
Android is flexible and configurable, but that means thinking, exploring and discovering things yourself.
If you're not comfortable then don't do anything. Read, read and read some more until you get comfortable - then act. That is the safest way to avoid problems as well as rewarding you with knowledge and understanding.
Good luck in your quest.

Uhm.....uhm......I am not thinking so.....I used a method which used Odin....I started in I think recovery mode, by holding power and volume up, then switched to volume down, and selected a recovery file that I had put on my Sdram card, it did it's thing, and now I notice I have super user capability. I then installed supersu and quickboot . And that is where I am at. Pretty much.
Mr.Anderson....ya.....I hear you, and have run with the rtfm crowd enough to grasp the concept..... but perhaps that is why the other guy after joining Iin 2012, has a thank you meter of 16 and you have one of 6 after joining 4 years ago? I am not trying to really skip the 10 billion posts of reading time exactly, or learning on my own. What I am trying to do is avoid problems I might from more experianced people who wish to share, after looking and not finding a specific post that I am sure is up to date, thag answers the issue. Frankly, I'd like for there to be a sticky on it specifically for this model. I''ll write one myself and submit it once I know enough to do it probably......but I promise, if you do not wish to help me, I won't think any less of you, or blame you. I am sure you have gained all your knowledge and earned it on your own, or if not, on this subject specifically, it wasn't any help from me, so neither you nor anyone else owe me anything.

Ok, go in to recovery mode volume up+power and see what it loads, if it is cwm, then you can select backup, I backup to my extsd because it takes up a lot of space on internal sd, then reboot. If not, then search for install cwm on the forum. I can explain later, but am on vacation visiting the parents, so I can't guarantee how timely my response will be.
Hey everyone. I just got this note pro today from Amazon. I've read about a lot of functionality you can get from rooting your device. The thing is I have no clue how to root a device. I've looked around the internet and to be quite honest I'm still not quite sure how to properly root the device. I was hoping someone could maybe point out or give me step by step instructions on how to root a device. Including making backups and the programs needed. I'm totally a noob in this and quite terrified of destroying a 685.00 dollar device. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take the time out. The reason I'm rooting is because I want to get better battery life and be able to run any app in multiview mode. (Student who wants to go multiview with amazon ebooks and a note taking app)

I'm not sure which Internet your using.... you must not be looking very hard because your answer is in this very forum. In fact , there is a great big thread about it a few lines down. If after reading said thread you still have a question, I suggest asking IN that thread.
Every one here loves to help out, but you gotta put in at least a TINY bit of effort dude.

Ok, so I'm new here. I've known about this place for years but have always been a bit apprehensive about tooling around with perfectly good devices. So years later I have amassed quite a few devices that no longer get used or are a bit out of date. So needless to say my apprehension has melted away and now I'm ready to brick some **** if needed to learn a bit more about this modding thing. So currently with this Pokemon craze I have an old phone that has android 4.2. I need to upgrade to 4.4 or higher to be able to DL the PokemonGo app. My grandson is killing me trying to use my gs7e constantly. I currently own 8 tablets 4 of which are on the T-mobile network. Only two of them are android 4.4 or higher. Problem is they are smashed, lol. Left them on top of my car only to see them fly off while on the freeway. So I can not DL the app on any of the tabs either.
So I have this phone, SGH-T399 I'm willing to brick in order to try and either learn how to get this app or kill it trying. Been googling and my best option ended up coming here. So to make this long story get short in a hurry. PLEASE help. Where can I find the easiest way for me to make these changes in the simpliest terms possible, lol? I aslo am using a laptop with windows 10 if that matters in case I need to DL files and such. Thanks in advance.

ps: I'm also willing to brick a few of the tablets as well, lol.
