[Q] Phone Lag - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I've been using the Cwm-GB-2.3.6-Octane ROM for a while now - though over time the phone has become increasingly slower and slower.
Is there a procedure (besides a complete reinstall) to make the phone as slick as it was the first day I installed the ROM?
I'm a bit of a noob unfortunately so I apologize in advance.

Lag after root

I rooted my phone last night using superoneclick and I downloaded the 64 bit drivers from some website. After the root my keyboard wasnt working. I turned my phone on and off and it works now. But my phone seems much slower now. Is there something I did wrong? Is there something I could do to speed it up?
Thanks in advance

You could delete dalvik cache. I do it using root explorer, manually finding the folder and deleting its contents. Not the actual folder. Then reboot and let it sit for abouts ten minutes. While it rebuilds itself.

What does the dalvik cache do?

My dad's screen stays off when he tries to unlock the phone or when receiving a call. It takes a few tries to get the screen on. CM7 screen wont turn on at all. What can I do.
What have you done to the phone so far did you root it

What?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
All SD cards have a class. Class 2 to 10 ten being The best .the better the class The better the file transfer. Cause it sounds like you got a bad download. also did you wipe cache dalvic cache format system before updating to cm7

This was happening on stock too.

Then I would say flash back to stock and send it in for warranty

So no one had that problem before? There is no solution? Come on, this is XDA is there anything I can do to fix this?

Lol I'm glad someone else finally actually posted something helpful for him. Timothy was like an IT guy "did you try turning it off and on?" No offense.

THANK YOU! I'll try that when he's not using it. However how would the SD card cause his problem?

I fought with this issue for a long time, ended up using EaglesBlood's ROM and it didn't have the same issue. It's also not happening with EB's ICS ROM. Just in case the SD card isn't the problem...
The SD card could have a bad file on it or if its not a higher class it could lose some important files when transfering

SD was not the issue, I'll look into EaglesBlood's ROM now
The same thing started happening with my phone recently. It stays black when trying to wake the device and stays black during a phone call. It's only happening sporadically though. Kind of like a bratty child, only working when it wants to.
I've had this phone for about three months now but I rooted this device the same day it came out the box. I'm running CM7.1.01 Stable.
My SD card is a 32GB class 10, but I don't see how this could be an issue with the ROM.
When it happens and it won't respond to power button or volume key I just yank the battery and reboot..
Could it be a hardware issue?

How to wipe internal storage without wiping cwm?

I want to wipe everything off my storage but if I do that then cwm will be deleted too. I remember seeing topics for formating but I can't seem to find them anymore.

Use the G2x Batch Cleanup Toll (search the Dev section). It does a complete cleaning and pushes CWM

wouldn't formatting emmc in settings of cwm do the job?

I took everYthing to mean...ev-uh-re-thing...
But it definitely would if he only meant internal storage i.e. apps and data, etc...

Use the tool in my sig. Just do a dual-wipe with the Nullifier and you're good as new (so to speak at least).
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Well, I just succesfully did the cleanup batch thing, but Im inside cwm now, I can't access my internal storage, says E:can't mount /emmc/, if I try to mount usb storage it says
E:Unable to write to ums lunsfile (No such file or directory)
Should I reinstall cwm? Re-root? Pretty confused here
edit: I reinstalled cwm, working fine now, will come back if ive got any more problems
Don't forget to install a GB based ROM before you install anything ICS
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I didn't do that, flashed a jb ROM before anything else, no obvious problems have appeared yet.

is your internal storage working properly? That was the problem with flashing a non GB ROM first, if I remember correctly
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Ya, I just had to go into vold.fstab and change 2 numbers so I can make internal storage my main storage cuz I don't have a sdcard but ive always had to do that on ICS/jb ROMs.

[Q] Boot looped

Hello, hello. I am running my SGS3 on Liquid Smooth 4.2.x
I downloaded a game today. It stalled on install, so I went to reboot my phone. I am bootlooped on the "Liquid Smooth" splash screen. What do I need to do to fix my stuff? I am hoping I can just go into TWRP and wipe cache and not have to go through the whole process of putting my rom back on. Just wanted an expert opinion before I go too crazy.
Thanks for the help.
Try wiping cache & dalvich cache in recovery. Otherwise, you might need to reflash

I had to. It would not shut down any other way. It booted up the 4th time. But the graphics get really laggy. Very goofy.
