How to wipe internal storage without wiping cwm? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I want to wipe everything off my storage but if I do that then cwm will be deleted too. I remember seeing topics for formating but I can't seem to find them anymore.

Use the G2x Batch Cleanup Toll (search the Dev section). It does a complete cleaning and pushes CWM

Thanks I'll check i t out and will check back if I've got any problems

wouldn't formatting emmc in settings of cwm do the job?

I took everYthing to mean...ev-uh-re-thing...
But it definitely would if he only meant internal storage i.e. apps and data, etc...

Use the tool in my sig. Just do a dual-wipe with the Nullifier and you're good as new (so to speak at least).
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium

Well, I just succesfully did the cleanup batch thing, but Im inside cwm now, I can't access my internal storage, says E:can't mount /emmc/, if I try to mount usb storage it says
E:Unable to write to ums lunsfile (No such file or directory)
Should I reinstall cwm? Re-root? Pretty confused here
edit: I reinstalled cwm, working fine now, will come back if ive got any more problems

Don't forget to install a GB based ROM before you install anything ICS
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium

I didn't do that, flashed a jb ROM before anything else, no obvious problems have appeared yet.

is your internal storage working properly? That was the problem with flashing a non GB ROM first, if I remember correctly
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium

Ya, I just had to go into vold.fstab and change 2 numbers so I can make internal storage my main storage cuz I don't have a sdcard but ive always had to do that on ICS/jb ROMs.

[Q] android secure?

I need help figureing out the solution to the android_secure issue. Its something on your sd card. I took my girlfriends sd card from her phone put ext-4,bionix,recovery, and update.zip on it and it worked flawlessly. So im pretty sure that it is a clockworkmod issue from rom manager because i put flash clockworkmod through rom manager over krylons. So i deleted the clockworkmod file and its still there. anyone have any idea as to where these files are saved
Man I have this problem and dunno what to do wiyh it huh
But
Even if u restart ull still have your apps restored

that might be it,
TO be completely honest its recommended that you format your sd and then move back all the important files you need that wont rebuild themselves back on from your sdcard backup
this and flashing with odin was the only way i got my back up and restore back from the CRUEL ROM MANAGER TORTURE
Well ill try removing the diskcache and ill let you know the outcome.
How do you format your sd card and are there any files you actually need to save

Two recoveries?

After downloading the newest ROM manager from the market, it now looks like I have two recoveries installed. If I boot into recovery from ROM Manager, I get the new blue one (with int SD support). But if I boot from the power menu, I get the old one. Something tells me I screwed something up, and I'm not touching anything until somebody tells me how this is even possible. WTF did I do?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
No problem there. ROM manager is only updated false flash rom. Old one is the nvflashed real one.

Ah. So is it safe to flash from either one? Having access to the internal SD would be a lot more convenient.
Also, is there a thread somewhere pertaining to this situation?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
There is an even better scenario...download the utility by tgagunmann in the development section, and flash the latest cwm, which allows both internal and external from boot recovery.

Links2sd

I'm curious to know how this is working out for everyone...how many of us use links2sd. And the ones who use it how much space were you able to save?
For me it seems to be working fine and i have been able to consistently keep 200mbs of free space..the ui is nice and easy to understand. What are the disadvantage to using this?

UGH.
What partition are you guys using.
I tried ext2. After 2 reboots all my apps disappeared and L2SD failed to mount partition 2.
I tried ext4. After "1" reboot all my apps disappeared and L2SD failed to mount partition 2.
I am trying FAT32, hopefully will work.

You will need to partition it first. You will lose all data on your SDcard so make sure you have your card backed up.
1. Go into recovery and partition your card.
2. Open up Link2SD and it will ask what type of partition it is ( I believe it is ext3, I could be wrong though )
3. Select the partition type then it will create the script.
4. Reboot phone and open up Link2SD and set it up as you would like.

try installing busybox, this should take care of the apps disappearing. it that doesn't work just clear both caches and then you should be good to go. make sure lind2sd is set to ext4 as your sd card should be formatted to this with the latest roms if i am not mistaken.

Anyone know how to fix the sdcard security issue?

Ever since I upgraded from cm10 to the jellywiz rom I have been getting "Cannot access external sdcard for security reasons." I paraphrased because I can't remember the exact wording. Anyways anyone know why that is or if there is a workaround for it? I have tried multiple ROMs and even changed the kernel but it didn't work. I wanted to try to go back to ICS then back to another jellybean build but I am not sure how to do that. I hear it has bricked a lot of phones. Has anyone had this same issue and somehow fixed it? I miss my music.

Sounds like you figured it out. Now have you tried formatting the card to see if it can be saved. Obviously after you back everything up, since your computer reads it.

Certain basics
You don't have cwm in a Rom zip
/data.. internal memory
/system... system memory.. this is where your Rom is
/boot... kernel is here
/recovery... independent of all other partitions and can be flashed either in Android using flash image binary or fastboot..
Google what other recoveries you have for your phone.. it should be in index /sticky for your phone in your forum thread.

if can't solve by clean flashing, it is high possibility that chip is faulty, this is hardware issue.

you have answer ur own question..lol
think..memory card own do not supply own power to operate. the phone does. why your memory card broken? the phone brack it. why still the card be use in normal, thats complicated. intermediate current or voltage supply to the card may cause this. same principal as some phone can oc 1.3ghz some can't.
