I got a full refund from Samsung for my phone, hence this post.
Just wanted to bid goodbye to this forum and all the lovely people here.
Got to learn and explore a lot of things in this forum with this device.
Thinking to move to HTC 1 as of now... but then wanna see how S3 turns out to be. oh btw hows the new xperia if anyone knows

But one thing about which I am still confused is that u said that u have used ur phone for 1.2 year means definitely ur phone warranty is over after 1 year. So without warranty how did u get refund??? Because my phone is also 1.2 year old
CRAP! you refunded the phone even it is way over the warranty date! wow. i want to do that as well. mine keeps rebooting and before that it said it usb storage has been removed. since then i have never seen the homepage etc. im only stuck on the samsung logo. probably my phone is defective on its internal sd and its motherboard. i hae sent it to a service center but they said i should bring it to their main service center to fix. i'd might ask for a refund as well do i can buy a fresh i9003 in mint condition. i have been using the phone for 10 months but had been sent to the service center twice. surely its defective.

The Sense 3.0 camera starts going black, then the picture pops up, and screen goes black. This process keeps on repeating. I know it's only the Sense camera because some third party camera apps work just fine.
How do I fix?
I already called HTC but they said I had to call the HTC Mobile division at T Mobile which only work from Monday-Friday. Looks like I am SOL until then. Also, My Sensation turned 2 weeks old today and I haven't tried to root or anything. My warranty should be good, right?

have u tried hard reset and have a charged battery? low battery causes issues along with no flash below 15-10% i believe? u should have 30 day warranty i replaced mine and its flawless i had issues with unlock and touch response. if u bought it close to u at store go and have them pull u the newest one build date mine is 6/6/11 take advantage of ur warranty u dont want to be stuck with the 5-100 faulty ones out there. and rooting...u cant root this device yet unless u have the s-off already.
*also u say 3rd party apps...try hard reset and dont add any apps yet and check to see if its doing again?! thinking maybe one of ur 3rd party apps is causing it as well

I have 86% battery. That's not the issue. I only installed 3rd party camera apps to test it and there are no problems. Should I go to a T Mobile store and exchange it? I'm out of my buyers remorse, but this is an exchange, not a return.

i believe u 2 both have faulty device may ask what ur build dates are and s/n#(pic below to show u...my old faulty one was 5/31/11 ZT15 made in taiwan. new one is 6/6/11 SH16 made in china, this one works AWESOME!) funny cuz on both old and new device i never had the camera issue u 2 are mentioning?! exchange out if u can!

i too had remorse, for 2 wks but wanted to like the phone after xchange...there was NO comparison what so ever! like day and night!!! now phone is awesome!
*did u say u tried a hard reset? (power down phone/hold volume down while pressing power button/pick hard reset) if u havent tried this do this first. then go xchange asap if it didnt work... youll love the way a true unbuggy one works! you can thank me after u get new one and i dont have to say i told u so ; )

I told the guy and he said he had no control over that.
I've had this problem before and just got this problem again. Did another factory reset to solve it... I'm very sure that the cut the rope game I downloaded from getjar is causing this. Should I still try to get an exchange due to all this?

Well, I am facing quite a lot of problems. It crashes once everyday, The other day I was giving my exam( was copying answers from my phone xD) and BOOM it crashed..RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES! I also face headphone jack issues, screen issues and Phone heating/battery issues. And i have a ****ty service centre in my area.. Real bad reviews.
So once i give it to get serviced it will take a while to come back.
P.S - What is the time period to get a refund?

To tell you in simple words you won't get a complete refund after using it for like 5 months.
At the most you can request the service center guys to put in a brand new motherboard & be happy if they do that.
I will take it to the service centre tommorow and revert back
And one more thing before I take it to the service centre. I did not fill the warranty card that came with the phone

One way of getting a refund is screwing up ur motherboard (dont ask me how, **** happens!) and hoping that the SSC doesnt have any stock. I got my SGR's MB replaced once already and it got screwed again, so I've given it back and they said they hv to replace the motherboard again.
Although Galaxy R is a fantastic device in itself, one part of me hopes that they will gimme refund saying MB is outta stock. And this is mainly due to the step motherly treatment meted out to it by Samsung and relative lack of dev support compared to HTC and other Samsung flagship devices.
I'll know in a couple of days. And maybe u can use this trick.
P.S. My SGR's motherboard got screwed on it own, I did not do it for the refund

.. when I first saw the stock ICS ROM on my friends S2 I regretted buying R almost immediately. I really hope our R to get some ICS like ROM.

Hi if you don't mind which country are you from ? Are you from India ?
If not then it seems that you don't have any service centers in your country ? Why don't you take it to one ?
It won't help by posting in every thread that your handset has SOD.
My beloved Galaxy R suffered its first casualty last night and I think its a big one.I kept it for charging overnight while it was switched on from 2.30pm to 7 am.In the morning I noticed the phone was in 'deep sleep' mode.I tried force restarting the phone and removing the battery and replacing it just didnt budge.I then skipped work took it to the service centre in Dadar,Mumbai where they were clueless about the model itself let alone the problem.They couldnt diagnose the problem for 20 mins and asked me to carry on and call them in the afternoon.The afternoon call was fruitless and they told me that it would take a couple of days to repair it. Although I have serious doubts about whether my phone would be repaired.
Fingers crossed eitherways,but I am not going down without adequate compensation if the phone cannot be repaired

well my desire s has finally given up the ghost,it ran out of battery last night,i charged it all night long without powering it back on.when i turned it on this morning it has the emmc failure
just wanted to say thanks to all the clever people here that helped make my desire the great phone it was.im sad that ill no longer have a reason to come on here .
so i guess this is farewell xda as the only other phone i have is an iphone 3gs

cheers for the replys ,im not capable of soldering a new emmc on so thats out the window.and unfotunatly for me my volume rocker no longer works so booting the memeory card would be a complete pain.i guess its just time to get a new phone.which im afraid to say DEFINATLY wont be made by htc. i love how it waited till 2 weeks after my warrenty ran out to die lol

I've cracked my screen and the phones battery doesn't last (I could get a new one lol) but I think its time to move on. My next device won't be a HTC maybe ill get a Samsung or LG. HTC has been good to me. Time to move on. -_-,

Have you confirmed the warranty has run out? When my brother sent in his Desire S for repair he was told that the warranty was 2 years. Not sure if it's just UK or not.

yeah looking at the warrenty it says 2 years,but my phone got dropped a while back when the volume rocker got broken and the case got scratched.so i dont think id be covered anyway.

Actually i used your guide and things to try before sending for repair post lol thanks for that it saved my desire s last time i had a scare along those lines but turned out to be a messed up partition table.no such luck this time it is deceased
i think im just going to bite the bullet and buy an s3!(secretly fancied one anyway lol) just going to be pricey for a sim free one!
I'm sure there's gonna be a way to revive this beautiful phone..
You said that your vol rocker doesn't work and it is out of warranty?
Why not follow some instructions in YouTube on how to open up your Desire S and clean some contacts, most of the time, it doesn't work because of accumulations of dirt, sweat (i know, gross ) or just bad contact, and usually it can be repaired easily at home. After that. you can try to fix the eMMC by following amidabuddha's guide, or try running an SD version of CM7.1..
Why don't you try that first? But you should go ahead and buy that SGS3.. But try revive this one. It's better to have two androids with you, right?
I'm sure there is a way. Desire S doesn't just give up there.
I'm sad and sorry to hear that, too, but I'm sure there will be a way..

Mine was from AT&T and still in warranty when I checked here, but it is unlocked grey item, not from any contract.

Just go to the Motorola mobility site for the atrix 2 and either chat with a support rep through the website, or there is a number to call them at the bottom of the page. There was someone else already who contacted them and was told that they do not support the A2 in that persons country, and they would not even allow him to send the phone in for repairs, even for a price. The only way you can know for sure, is to contact Motorola directly.

That right there will probably save you some huge headaches, since the AT&T version is a US phone... just realize they might be able to JTAG the device and see that the ICS leak was applied, and give you no support. Just want to let you know that, just so you get prepared. You might think about finding someplace that can JTAG it for you, that is in your half of the world. I am guessing there are places on the web that do that service, which you can send it to.
Oh so I save money and maybe my next phone will be Sammy S3 like you ...

Dude, I can not say enough great things about the SGS 3 and I have never liked the sammy phones until this one. I had a captivate, and I vowed after that to never have another samsung galaxy phone, until this one. I am switching between CM9 and CM10 right now every other day just to see all the progress we are making with the Jelly bean and project butter coding in the CM10 dailies.
The Atrix2 is my last Motorola phone. I also have a Xoom, and that is why I go this phone, hoping it would be like the xoom, but the A2 is too locked down for any real good mods.

I was this close (touching thumb and forefinger together) to early upgrading to the SGS3 yesterday. Next week, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it. Had it not been for your rave reviews on the SGS3 I'd likely not be considering it at all. So, I will shall see you in the SG3 forums soon...

The s3 is a truly wicked piece of hardware. Gonna steal the wifes for awhile when i get home.

Guys, the SGS 3 with CM9 and even the CM10 builds have been AMAZING!!!! I am getting 48 hours with decent use on a charge with CM9 and CM10, and with the stock I was getting about 20+ hours with the same amount of use.
With CM9 and CM10, there is no way any other phone even comes close in terms of performance, battery, useability and fun. With CM10 and project butter, it is just fantastic performance and smooth as butter.... LOL.
See all you guys over there... and the forum over there is handeled much better no one puts up with crap over there, and bad posts get removed so fast it is not even funny.

Everything you just mentioned has me now on my way to the closest Best Buy for a 'buy back' on my A2! Was going to do so yesterday, but decided to wait. Now I'm sold...

Good luck, I hope you get it, it is a bad A$$ phone, and so easy to do anything to and you have CWM working by default on this phone.. just flash the rooted image with ODIN and then install ROM Manager, and have it flash the latest version of recovery and touch recovery works so nice.....
All I can say is you will love this beast.

I also hard bricked my phone, but I'm kinda glad I did. I went to AT&T and told them it bricked from an OTA update, so they told me they'll send out a new one and I'll have to ship the bricked one to them. Then I was going to exchange the new one along with my Samsung Captivate for the Galaxy S III (in total I'll get $120 off ). My question is, is there a chance that AT&T will figure out I bricked it from the leaked update?

The SGS 3 all the way... the one x does not have an SDcard slot, so you HAVE to have unlimited data, and if you don't then you are going to be screwed if you like to have music and pics and stuff at your fingertips, because you will have to use cloud services for all that. Oh and the one x does not have a replaceable battery. Oh and AOSP and AOKP have official builds for the SGS 3, good luck with that on the one X.

They will ask for it back possibly, but don't worry, I have done this with phones I have totally hacked, and I always play very dumb and act like it is AT&T's fault my phone broke... they really do not care, becuase they will have already given you your upgrade... just say that you did a factory rest and had to redo the OTA and it will not even turn on now... they will pretty much tell you NP, just don't say the words ICS or leak...

That's pretty much what I told them lol. As long as they don't realize that I updated to the leak I'll be fine. Thanks again, I feel better now.
Yea I know, make fun of me. Tonight I was trying to install CM 9.0 for my i727.
I already had Clockwork and Odin installed, everything was working 100%
I decided to follow TeamChopsticks guide to get there.
Unfortunately CM was not installing after I did the "Format /system (mounts and storage->format /system)" step and I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I went into Odin hoping to just flash CM. I then saw that the only option was "PIT" and naive, stupid, tired me decided to do it.
I mean what could go wrong. I had titanium backup and everything.
Turns out I probably reformatted my internal mem to something my i727 can not use. Yay...
Now my phone won't go into download mode, it wont boot, actually it wont do anything.
I've spent the last 3 hours reading online on what to do. To my avail I found nothing. (I found QPST but it won't let me add "COM4" which my phone is on, so it's useless)
My phone is recognized by the computer as "QHSUSB_DLOAD" and Odin used to have it in COM4.
I really don't want to send my phone anywhere, I've had it since Christmas so it's not the newest, and upgrading to a SGSIII would be an option.
What should I do? What CAN I do?

Ouch, that's hard luck man. Not gonna rub it in man. You know exactly what you did and why it happened, and I genuinely feel for you there.
Like vincom said, take it to AT&T and tell them you don't know why it won't boot. They'll probably refer you to Sammy if you're outside of a month with no insurance. Best chance you've got short of JTAG.

The guys are right, im afraid. Back in my newish days (heck i still am new) something similiar happened to me. Im on Rogers in Canada, and I told them it happened while upgrading through kies. They shipped me a refurbished model for 35 bucks, so hopefully ATT is as benevolent.
FYI this one had a faulty usb port and they were out of refurbs, so they just sent me a brand new one (second replacement). So follow your dreams, I guess. : D

Damn man that sucks. I know the feeling when you try something new and you try to turn your device on and........nothing. heart drops into stomach. But the link vin game you might be an option. Def cheaper the the s3. Hang in there.

I think someone did this in the infuse forum n was able to unbrick but u r sayin phone won't even get to download mode so not sure...

Wow. What a refreshing turn around. Usually whenever someone posts like this, a dozen people will comment on how much of an idiot the OP is, how they obviously can't read, and that they should be resigned to using crayons and craft paper since they obviously can't be trusted to use a smartphone.

never check pit unless you have a pit file and absolutely need to use it.

its because he knew what he did wrong, he didnt say the "name of rom here that was not for i727" bricked my phone and then ask what can be done about it

If the device is still under warranty, no problem. Otherwise no matter what you say the retail AT&T reps are sort of clueless around Android and won't offer any steps to try. I just picked up my Skyrocket on Friday and want to go slowly haha I soft bricked my Captivate way back in 2010 so I understand how it feels.

i bricked my two days ago. bad not came on! no recovery no nothing computer couldnt read it. nothing. went to best buy (i pay 10 dollars a month for their insurance) and said "it was on just a few moments ago and then this happened"? and BAM they are sending me a new phone in the mail!!! i have literally done this same thing with so many phones. it always works. i mean technically thats what im paying for...
