LCD vs super amoled(all) - Android General

Which one is better for reading ?
Sent from my GT-S5360 using Tapatalk

For reading highest resolution wins. With same resolution no general difference.
assuming non-pentile screen of course.

How can I search by resolution on gsm arena ?

Use the phone finder (left side of the site)

None, get a ereader

Yeah I know that but what parameter should I set
Sent from my GT-S5360 using Tapatalk

Looking for a good resolution phone, right? Well... you can go to Display Resolution and set At least 480x800 (or 400x854) pixels. The results will be all the phones that have that resolution or above.

Get an qHD device. Very nice resolution for reading. I love my Atrix's screen.

Get ips or s-lcd 2 type display both are still tft lcd, but the best of
...
And on phones using those displays, the LG nitro HD and HTC one x, respectively, you get 1280x720 resolution
Wonderful wonderful displays. Though, if you can get the HTC one x, get it over the LG nitro HD.
Im still not sold on any form of amoled, their "infinate black," is not even (especially in a darker room), and those displays WILL burn in before you replace the phone on a two year contract.
Even worse, the higher resolution amoled displays (960x540, 1280x720), are both Pentile, meaning fewer subpixels and the display uses subpixel rendering to guess at the color, ultimately meaning less overall clarity that would otherwise be expaectable of a full RGB stripe of that clarity (though some people are not bothered by this)... also smaller low resolution displays of amoled form use pentile, for the same reasons the high resolution amoled panels do - the dot pitch is just too small for current amoled display tech to create an acceptably long lasting panel.
Just my take on this. I've had plenty of amoled displays in use (I never resell my amoled devices because they all have sole sort of burn in already ), and I simply do not like amoled for a serious daily driver anymore.

For me super amoled is a best with gorilla glass

I really like Super Amoled, actually more then an LCD screen.

Super amoled plus

LCD > OLED to me. Why? I like having the option of keeping a device's screen on for extended periods without worrying about possible burn-in. This'll be a necessary feature when (not if) I replace my desktop laptop with a desktop tab or phone.

I preffered Oled cause it has a great color.. but the negative thing is just the burn in..

Your Opinion about Super AMOLED HD(Nexus Prime)

Heard that Super Amoled HD is going to have a pentile matrix leaving behind the usual RGB.Utlization of the PenTile matrix means details won't be as distinct as they would be with a normal RGB one. I don't know what they mean exactly but does it affect the picture clarity. I love my Super Amoled plus in my galaxy s2 i love the colors. This new HD 720p screen do you thing will replicate the colors same as Super Amoled Plus. Well i am sure with 720p tiny letters can are distinctly shown but my worry is about the colors. I love changing wallpapers on my S2 colors look very vibrant i don't want to loose that feel.
Guess we first have to see one before launching opinions into thin air. Might be awesome, might be average. Time will tell
Well hopefully it won't have the yellowish side problem
The original Galaxy S had a pentile display, so there is your comparison.
They will just scale things up, but it will be clearer/cripser
They will probably just change some of the settings to make the colors .. Better [Perhaps]

So this should be in the Galaxy S II General forum then?
Guess, probably, hopefully....
Excellent, very helpful.
This belongs on a developer's forum because.....?
Is there a "Wild-Conjecture-Based-On-No-Facts-Whatsoever-For-A-Phone-No-one -Has-Seen-And-Does-Not-Yet-Exist" section that I'm missing?

Actually, it's not related to the SGS 2 in any ways. Therefore I think it should be in General Discussion.

[Q] Super LCD 2?

How will be the s-lcd 2 compared to samoled?
Which one would you prefer?

Not sure exactly, but from what I have read it will be brighter but I think Super AMOLED will still be richer - hard to be sure unless you see each side by side.

New to skyrocket

I'm gonna trade my galaxy note for a skyrocket plus cash of course... And had a few questions about the skyrocket....
-Is the screen resolution 720p like the note
-Does it have good GPS like the note (Russian satellite)
-Is the galaxy S2 skyrocket the same as the galaxy S2 skyrocket HD?
-WHATS THE PROS AND CONS OF THIS DEVICE
I did a trade plus 250$ cash is that a good deal?

4) Not bad, but not great
Cool what about pros and. Cons

again see point 3, all depends what ur looking for. My only con is battery life. I get 24 on with 4 screen time... but then again I'll never be satisfied until I get limitless battery, so for the amount of power and speed this device gives u, I'll take it

Hey guys I'm New is this normal?

Hey guys I've just come over from the desire s and I'm loving the phone. Is it normal for the screen to have a blue tint if you change the angle ever so slightly?

This is common in pentile display which the One S has. The same can be observed in Samsung galaxy SIII is believe (Also having pentile display)

Ok I understand now. I suppose it takes a bit of getting used to when you're coming from a non pentile slcd. I've also found that its noticeable the most on white backgrounds.

it comes coz of the amoled screen i think !! ..
Nah' my LG Optimus 2x makes the sam thing happen. Turn to the other diagonal you'll get an orange tint. Nothing special just the way screens are made.

[Q] anyone know about Android 4.0 Phone "Stratos"??

Hi all,
Was browsing around looking at new phones and came across this one:
http://www.chinavasion.com/china/wh...e_Stratos_-_5.3_Inch_1GHz_Dual_Core_Dual_SIM/
Does anyone out there know anything about it/ anyone bought it?
It looks like a great phone, but my main concern is being able to root it after I get it since I see it has the new MT6577, hence my question to all you experts out there :good:
I've never used this phone, but its 800x480 resolution on a 5.3 inch display would make it look horribly pixelated and horrendous
(That's 176 dpi, which is lower than the Optimus One series, which are 3.2 inch screens at 320x480 and 180 dpi)

Many thanks for the reply, I didn't realise about the resolution, I looked at the video of the phone, and everything seemed really clear and sharp.. - Maybe I should look for something else

No problem. Usually, chinese phone manufacterers like to cut corners on the display resolution. Keep that in mind when buying phones from them.

Yeah, that's on a 4 inch screen which makes 800x480 perfectly fine (the original galaxy s had this res on a 4 incher) but the product OP is deciding is a whopping 5.3 inches with 800x480

Well I decided to go ahead and get the phone anyway
It is great, there is no pixelated at all that I can see, everything is completely crystal clear and sharp

Right. Display sharpness is subjective. Just don't spend too much time with any higher res screen.
