Rogers Caller ID - UCLD2 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

This thread is just to confirm that I have working caller id since flashing ucld2 based sky ics 4.2D-8 by seanscreamz. I would only assume all other rooms based on new leak would be the same

I am running version 9 but I am still having problems with incoming calls from telus cells. Some work and others still appear as unknown. The rest of the carriers regardless of land or cell seem to be fully functional.

Ya, I received a call the other day from a Wind phone and got unknown caller. Looks like it's hit or miss at this point.

I'll definitely have to give that a go... been running Superlite, works great aside from all the Unknown callers... if I could even get rid of some of them that'd help a ton!
Thanks for the heads up.

never had that problem since D2 leak came out

Reflash the modem
Hi just reflash the modem everything seems to work fine for me. telus and public mobile here in mtl

Can anyone confirm that caller ID works on [rom][ics][ucld2] ♦ EMBRYO-2.2 as well? Just wondering if it is specific to the rom or the radio (I would think it'd be the radio?).

Dropped calls?

Is there a way to tell if you dropped a call? I drop one a week but idk if its my friend with his new headset or what. Is there a way to tell? Before lately I don't think I've had a dropped call in 2 mo since I had my cappy. Last few weeks I've been running ultimate rom v 5 something. Before cognition 2.6 and above. All help is appreciated. And how often do you guys drop calls? And this is inside my house. Lots of windows. Oh and one more thing. I have noticed texts coming a minuet before or during the few drops if I remember right. But I have also texted myself and had some1 text spam me on the phone and nothing happened.
Thx

Unfortunately, I can't help with a method to see what calls have been dropped.
I have been experiencing dropped calls since upgrading to the official ATT 2.2 build. In the last week I've had almost all of my 'long' calls drop on me. Looking at my call log, it appears that anytime I have a call that lasts >20 minutes it gets dropped.
Lots of dropped calls here too after 2.2 (Cognition 4 & 4.1). Rarely had A problem before.

Yes. I am running the stock ATT 2.2 rom. Loaded it the day it came out. Since then, I have had several (8 - 10) dropped calls. Before that, none. I am fairly sure it is my phone because it can occur reguardless of who I am talking to or what time of day. Length of the conversation doesnt seem to matter either.
I am experiencing this as well. Frequent dropped calls recently.
Thanks guys. This helps, my gf just got a captivate, 11XX build with 2.2 pre-installed. So I'm going to root it and either put in a new modem or a new ROM all together because she likes it but doesnt due to "lack of signal" and "dropped calls" so sounds to me like the KB1 modem isnt all that good....
Another question here, JW in keis can you go from 2.2 stock to 2.1 stock? or does it not let you downgrade ? ( I know you can with oden, Just wondering if there is a AT&T supported way of downgrading...?)

What ROM and kernel are you running with that modem??
thanks!
if it's happened after a flash, you may be running an incompatible modem.
Me and my girlfriend, both on our stock froyoed Captivates, constantly have calls dropped by our phones since the upgrade. We have both done a factory reset and rooted after the upgrade. Any help or explanation is appreciated.
Also, her random shutdowns unfortunately continue...

[Q] Calling issues with the Nexus S

Love the n00b video.....but searched for days and found nothing similar.
Brand new out of the box Nexus S i9020a running Android 2.3.6 GRK39F (was running 2.3.4 til it got the OTA update). Using a T-mobile SIM from and in Germany.
Issue -- When making phone calls, both parties hear scratchy static type sound that makes the voices sounds like aliens. Sometimes nothing is heard even though the call connected. Speakerphone has the same result.
Observation 1 -- When the phone is turned off and turned back on the initial calls works like normal. Subsequent calls have the issue.
Observation 2 -- When using other calling apps (tango, skype, etc) there is no problem what-so-ever.
Resolution attempts -- Tried putting the phone back to the stock 2.3.4 ROM.
Tried flashing the 2.3.6 ROM as well.
Phone is brand new but a return is not possible. I am still confident it is a software issue but I am a n00b so that's why I ask you guys.
Could be an issue with the carrier because you stated that this issue doesn't exist with Tango nor Skype.
Best to call up T-Mobile Germany and ask them to investigate your issue.
Good luck,
deltatux
things to try/check
try flashing a custom rom to see if this clears the issue
make sure the APNS are correct?
try a new simcard

It doesn't happen when using the same service with my SGS or SGS 2 or Tab. That's why I think it's the phone.

Used a US ATT SIM and the problem still occurred.
I will check the APN's when I get home and if that doesn't work then I'll try flashing a Custom ROM.
I will report back my findings. Thanks!

ICS on Rogers Caller ID coming up as unknown

Hey all,
I'm using mhx's stock debloated ICS rom flashed through CWM coming from SKYICE GB.
So far all my incoming calls are showing up as unknown since I flashed this rom. I haven't tried any of the other ICS roms as of yet. I'm with Rogers.
Is there a fix for this?
as a prev rogers rep i must ask the stupid but obv question
do you have call display or a valuepack?
I am running the smooth ics and no issues so far.

i have the same problem as you, my id display doesnt work any fix ?
I've been doing some searching and have found that rogers and fido are the only carriers that have caller id with name and number display. Other carriers just have caller id with number display. Problems android users may experience are name/number coming up as unknown, pay phone, or has the number but says unknown name. Other android users have been fixing this problem by calling rogers and disabling name display leaving you with basic caller id which only shows the number if the person is not in your contacts list. If they are in your contacts list it will show their name aswell. I haven't tried this for myself though.
Common words that came up when I was searching this is RIL and CNAP (Call Name Presentation)
Another fix I was reading is that it has to be built into the rom to understand caller id with name display. On the Galaxy Nexus board they talking about something called CNAP. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419175
I was thinking maybe pulling whatever it is that is needed from the rogers gingerbread rom and putting it into the ics rom to make it but work if that's even possible I have no idea.
I remember having this problem on my old LG EVE and the temporary fix was to call rogers and disable name display but I just waited for a fix instead.
LeeC's ICSradio.zip
I was having the same problem earlier after I flashed mhx's ICS-Superlite-4.2 with the radio included in that OP. The baseband came up but caller IDs didn't work. So I tried fixing it by flashing the Stock Bell Note radio I717MUGLA2, still nothing. And this time the baseband said unknown as well. But keep in mind both flashes had no problem with dialing and receiving calls. Just the caller IDs weren't coming up.
Finally I flashed LeeC's ICSradio.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24140728&postcount=5), and accidentally clicked on fix permission in recovery, and now caller ID's working just fabulously. I'm not sure what exactly fixed it (LeeC's radio? Flashing ICSradio after the Bell one? Or randomly fixing permission?). Either way, something to try for my fellow Rogers people.

So was it the radio or the permission that fixed it? It only happens to me when people call from landlines.

Can't tell ya. I flashed the radio and as I was navigating out of the touch recovery I accidentally clicked on fix permission. Not sure if it's the combination of both or one of them worked. I just tried calling my phone with landline and caller ID comes up fine now.
This is a good topic. Been having the same issue. This should've neen brought up in the ICS-Superlite thread though for better answers and results. I stumblled across this one by mistake

I'm having the same issue on Rogers. I flashed NexusMod ICS on it last night (my second xda rom) and both have the same issue. I get about 30% of my callers showing up correctly, all the rest are "unknown".
Would love to know about a fix if anyone finds one. I will try that fix permissions fix in touch recovery.
update: The fix permissions did nothing
As steven said its a cross between that name display feature and something with the leak. if the radio/fix permissions fix doesn't work the other fix is to call rogers and tell them to disable name display. I had to do that with my atrix as it was a bell device.

I had posted about this in a different forum but wasn't getting any replies.
I can Verify that if you call Rogers and ask to have the name portion excluded from the caller ID this problem is fixed. Just called and while I got a few questions as to why they were able to do it and now numbers show up!
YEAH!!! Thanks so much steeven01

It works fine for landlines with me too but calls from other cell phones always come up unknown.
I've tried what you said you did and no luck I've tried with the Note I717MUGLA2 modem and it gets no signal and is unknown baseband, I've tried with the new Note UCLC5 ICS modem no luck with caller id but everything else worked fine, I tried the original rogers modem but it gets no signal and is unknown baseband. I've tried fixing permissions after each modem and no luck. Are you sure your caller id is working for you when you receive calls from cell phones?
I think I'm just going to get rid of the damn name display.

Account not authorized to call XXX

Strange problem I've got here:
Whenever I try to make a call, I get a recording from Sprint saying "Your account is not authorized to make calls to this phone number; if you would like to have additional capabilities added to your account, please call customer service. [spanish iteration of recording] Message 4, switch 253." It seems to only be doing it to numbers on a different carrier, however. I can call Sprint phones just fine.
I'm running fergie716's port of MIUI 2.5.25 with the stock air kernel he puts in it. Strange thing is when my previous backup of Gummy ICS is restored, everything is fine. Called customer service and they talked me through numerous codes to try to provision my phone, but the service codes don't seem to work on MIUI, yet they do on gummy. I've verified it's not the radio (running KL2 currently), updated the profile and PRL, still no dice.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've grown accustomed to MIUI with just a day's use and would love to be able to continue with it.
Bumping for desperation.

Wifi Calling and ICS?

I understand that wifi calling does not work on the current crop of ICS ROMs and from what I have gathered there are some proprietary pieces that make wifi calling on the SGS4G different than any other phone, so my question is whether anyone plans on bringing this to any of the ICS Roms? It's a requirement for me because of lousy T-Mobile signal strength at home and work. I keep reading through all the ICS ROM posts to see if anyone is working on it and so far I haven't seen anything so I thought I'd ask. I'm sure that getting all the core functionality is at the top of the list for most devs, but hopefully this one won't fall by the wayside.
Thanks,
This is on the list. However getting the builds stable and pretty much bug free is top priority.
A temporary fix is try grooveip from the play store. There is a lite version that only works on wifi. It uses google voice to make calls using a wifi/data connection make calls. I know you can make texts show up as your mobile number and Im almost positive the same with your number. If not just tell people its a extension. The only downfall is if you get a call to your regular number it will not ring to the phone just go to your VM.

Using grooveip isn't an option for me because I can't use a different number. My cell is a work phone and too many people have the number to try to get them to use something different.
I'm glad to know it is being worked on. I will continue to use GB until this gets resolved.
Thanks,
sigh.... i'm also eager to use ICS, but need wifi calling. I'll keep lurking until thats an option (or I get a new phone)
Look at this thread. I followed the instructions and managed to get WiFi installed and showing as "Enabled." I guess that the only thing left to do is try it out tomorrow when I go to work. Hope this helps.

It worked for me at least after testing it at work (I loose signal as soon as I work into the building). I was able to send out text messages without any problems but was unable to test wifi calling since I am struggling with a weak wifi signal. Is there a way to flash modems? I have tried booting into recovery and flashed moddem and unmmoded modems with no success.
OK wifi calling doesn't support wifi texting, I know because I have tried. So you were definetely mistaken. There is no wifi calling app built into any current ICS rom because of the lack of the kernel kineto drivers. It's not a bug hypothetically. It is just not there. That's like saying that NFC worked on this phone. So there is no possible way for a fluke.
Same Boat
I work in the second level basement of my building. We call it the dungeon, and if you ever visit you'll see why. (That's not a bad thing because users are generally afraid to come down here). Lacking the required dev skills I have been waiting for a post-MIUI2.0 or ICS rom that worked out the wifi calling problem. Looks like someone's moving the ball for the HTC Sensation, Galaxy Note and maybe other devices.

Against reason and explicit warning I tried these updates anyway. Wifi calling installs, but never completely initializes to run. One update temporarily broke my radio/modem which I fixed by flashing back to stock and moving forward to miui2.0. Luckily I did not brick my phone!
Two options.
1. Use grooveip or something similar as a work around. Forward calls while at work to your google voice number.
2. Start a bounty thread to get wifi calling working on the sgs4g. It sounds like there are a bunch of people that need it and if five of you throw in 20 bucks that is a 100 dollar incentive to get it working.

I'm pretty sure it does. Other than anecdotal evidence like I send texts through WiFi Calling in my dead zones (basements, work, friend's homes), if you were on KJ6 modem and couldn't send extended texts (it'd fail to send), you could send them just fine through WiFi Calling without flashing another modem. So, I'm not sure what method you tried so it could have been something unique about your phone.

Text over wifi works for me too on KJ6. Never send really long texts so I never dropped back to KG4; I'm satisfied with my ValBlack gingerbread rig in this way.
I have also the motorola defy and no one was able to make wifi calling work on Ics, most devs are from outside the Us and no one really cares, they are really good, one even ported JB already. But the SGS4G is tmobile only, so hopefully someone can make it work, tmobile signal is spotty and wifi calling is a must have. Iam staying on GB until its fixed
