I have an original Galaxy tab, and one thing i noticed when i got it was that even though it was advertised as a 16gb model, it was just 2gb's onboard, and it came with a 16gb micro sd card in it.
did they do this kind of thing with the galaxy tab plus as well? i've been thinking about getting one (or the tab2), and i want to know they are actually 16gb without an SD card.
also, at this point, i can get a galaxy tab plus for 10$ more than a galaxy tab 2... im about to read up on the differences, but if anyone knows of any glaring differences in the 2 that would sway me some way, please feel free to share.
The storage is built in, and not an SD card. It still has an SD slot though.
Personally, the Tab 2 is a huge downgrade. I'd rather pay the ten extra and get my camera flash, better processor, and more storage (the tab2 is only 8GB.)

never heard of 2GB on a Galaxy Tab :O,maybe you are reading the used space?(no offense)
as about Plus vs Tab2,GO WITH PLUS!
the most glaring difference is it's processor,Exynos rocks big time!
yeah, after looking at some reviews and overall benchmarks, it looks like the tab plus has won out.
at the 260 i can get it for it's factory refurb, but my other tab was the same, and its still quite good.
and im pretty sure i wasnt looking at the storage wrong. i dont know if it was just the version of it that i bought, or if i read something wrong about it, but it only has 2gb's on board (was going to check, but ive let the battery die).
anywho, thanks for the info, hopefully samsung gets ICS out to the plus soon. that or someone can make the tab2 firmware work on it, with them being as similar as they are.
added: Also, is there any major differences in the P6200 and P6210?
edit: nvm, i think i found it... the 6210 is the wifi only version right?
right
I can confirm that the original tab came with 2 GB on board and a 16 GB SD card. I took the card out of my original tab before I gave it to my daughter. I gave her an 8 and I kept the 16 for myself.
that sux
pfew..good i didnt buy the first version when appeared
I got a question, I have the gt7+ it's supposed to be 16 gigs but it only shows 12 and some change. why is this?

i cant answer with 100% certainty, but im sure part of that is the whole "you dont have 16 gigs to begin with anyways," due to differing standards a "16gb" sd card will only give you ~14-15gb's of usable space. and then im sure some of that is taken up by the operating system, so 12 usable gigs of space sounds kinda normal and/or expected.

At the moment, I have the original Galaxy Tab. I was looking into upgrading, but there are so many choices. Was considering the Galaxy Tab 7.7, Motorola Xoom, Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Transformer Prime.
Now, generally this would be "duh, just get the Prime!", but I've been reading about all the issues people are having, and that Asus is coming out with a better version later on in the year. So, should I wait or just buy the Prime?
In no particular order I'm looking for
A) Active development community, as I will root and flash any device I buy, its inevitable.
B) Long battery life.
C) GSM capability (when traveling)
D) Expandable memory via card slot
Size isn't really an issue, and even though the 10.1 has a great display, I'll still be stuck with whatever amount of storage space I choose to buy it with. Development on the 7.7 just seems to be starting, and for the 7.0 plus seems very bare (also starting?).
What do you guys think? I'm open to any and all suggestions!

I would go for Galaxy tab 7 (p1000) ... Just because i dont like the 10 one its too big ...
though if you want prime, you will probably get new software version when they release it ...
but i will continue speaking about galaxy tab :
a)i had it all stock, didn't want to mess since it was supposed to be sold.
b)It surely has good battery life.
c)yes
d)yes
so i bet the p6800 is even better, and a golden middle between 7 and 10 inch... i just don't know about the availability of the roms... check in advance that on xda for sure
Does it have a expandable memory though?

the p1000 has it, also the p6800 has it i guess, since its just improved version ... and on site it says so
I think the Transformer prime is your best bet. It's battery life is pretty darn long especially if you buy the keyboard dock as well.
No gsm though right? I suppose I could just use the phone to tether. You think I should wait for the new one coming out in the middle of the year, that supposedly fixes those wifi and gps issues people are having with it?

I have been torn about keeping the 16GB or getting the 32GB. I just don't know what to do. I have used a large amount of storage on the 16GB already and my 30 day return is up tomorrow. Any suggestions?
See the thread int eh android development section about Apps2SD that you can run without rooting or anythig. The author is TweakerL. Look it up.
Return for 32 imo. Unless your a pop the collar with your hat turned backwards kinda guy. Then keep the white.
I faced the same dilemma and decided to switch from 16gb to 32gb... If not it would have bothered me.
The only thing I miss is the White color...
I don't have the white one.

I have the 16 GB but I used this app to move my data folders to my 64GB microSD card. You can actually move any folders over, not just data folders.

I like the white color so this works out really well for me. This app effectively turned my White 16GB note into an 80GB note.

I don't view $50 as loads extra. Plus no matter how big your microsd card is you'll always have 16gb less with a 16 vs 32 model.

I went right for the 32 gb because id second guess like yourself . Plus my a500 is 16 gb and runs out fast. So 32 + 64 gives me 86 gb of storage

Availability of the 3G 32GB version is a problem too, at least in Europe. No 3G, no tablet for me personally.
I ordered (and have been using) the 16gb in white for 2-3 weeks, and just decided yesterday to order the 32gb in deep gray, instead. Although I try to store all of my media externally, I use up that space quickly. At the same time, I find it to be a PITA to swap things between internal and external, such as backups and ROMs. I don't mind paying $50 more for twice the memory, but I wouldn't have paid much more than that at all.
As for the color, while I like the white, I'm not fond of the silver/gray borders; I think it makes the device look kinda cheap, like a toy, though I do like that it resembles my Skyrocket. However, the border on the Skyrocket is not only a lot slimmer, it's chrome, which is much more appealing to me. I wish they had done something similar in this case.

All 64GB cards show as 59GB. It happens with all storage devices. That's to do with the fact that you're never going to get the full amount that you get told you will, because a portion of that memory is actually being used by the storage device for information pertaining to its self.

It shows as 59GB mainly because manufacturers give the storage sace in 1000s wile your tablet counts it in 1024s.
I looked at this for mine and decided to go for the 32 gb model since DRM protected movies cannot currently be moved to the SD card.
Google Play phone support guy advised that they have rec'd a lot of requests to enable this, so perhaps in the future it won't be an issue.
Hello guys, im thinking to get a new 64gb micro sd card for my s4 19505, currently using a 32gb samsung class 10 one with no issues at all.
So I"ve found 2 choices which im interested in. Can someone please suggest which one would be more better and compatible with the s4 as i have read that some cards give problems. Neverthess i found the following two on ebay:
Samsung Essentials 64gb Class 10:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=111210443073
Samsung Pro UHS-1 64gb Class 10:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=151162891126
The price difference is not much. If anyone has owned either one, could you please give some feedback and advice. Thanks

I would go with the Pro in the second link. The first one looks entry level (might even be fake).
I have the pro, it's ok, not sure if it's a problem with my phone or pc, but if I try to copy too much onto it at once (usually when I copy a few albums at a time), it fails after a while (10 mins or so), meaning I have to copy things over bit at a time leaving a bit of time between the copying, almost like the card gets hot or copy cache gets overloaded (not sure if it does). It's a step up from the sandisc ultra 64GB ones I've had that just refuse to work (had two that just don't work any more). Could be due to me running Pac Rom (I've kept it updated to the most recent stable build). Just to mention, it has the same issues regardless of format (NTFS or FAT32). Never had any of these issues with 32GB cards. Still, the sammy one does at least work. Hope that helps.
Thanks for feedback, still not sure which one to get out the two, was feeling the pro one but as its mentioned that it has some errors im having 2nd thoughts now.
Currently have the 32gb Samsung essentials version which is flawless... maybe the 64gb of it could be just as good?? Anyone currently have one and could please shed some light? Thanks

I bought a 64GB MicroSD card on ebay and it was fake. Between receiving it and returning it, took me 3 weeks, and I had to pay for return shipping. It turned out it was stamped as a 64GB card but only held 4GB. Save your time. I then went on amazon about 6 months ago and bought samsung branded 64GB micro SD card and have never had any problems with it to date. I definitely recommend the samsung micro sdxc UHS-1 Class 10. It's the one i'm using.

This thread is pointless, nobody can tell you what YOUR needs are. Some people are fine with 16gb, and for others 32gb is not enough. Only you know what your usage is like.
I got the 32GB as 16 GB is Low for me. Secondly there is no expandable memory and hence I opted for the 32 GB.
Though I agree with _MetalHead_ that this is a pointless thread as you should know your requirements and if 32 GB is not available in your country, there is no point in talking about it. Though don't you think you could have bought it from ebay.com if you seriously needed 32GB.... a risk that you could have taken on Nexus 5
16 gigs with a otg cable and a 64gig sdcard = no troubles
Its obvious that OP wants some consoling because he can't get the 32gb version.
OP, you should buy your 16gb nexus 5 and use an otg cable to connect an SD card of whatever size you want to the phone.

Between a couple games and Spotify, I very quickly filled up the internal memory on my 16 GB S5. I bought a 64 GB microSD card thinking I could just tell the phone to move the big apps and data to external SD, but it won't allow me to move most apps. Furthermore, when it does allow an app to move to external, it only moves a small portion (e.g. ~30 MB of 2 GB).
Is there a way to get apps or their data to be moved to external SD?

I use folder mount and map the /storage/emulated/0/Android/obb folder to /storage/extSdCard/Android/obb folder on my S4. This moves all of the large game files to SDCard and once it is setup any new game installs will automatically go to the sdcard. Just go into settings and uncheck Destintion folder checks or it will give you an error.
Here is a full write-up that rawintellect did for the S4 if that helps.

Yeah it works great. Raws post had a combination of tricks to maximize space but I found that using Folder Mount alone is great. Very easy to setup and works great. I have 167 apps on my download list and about 12 games installed and have 3GB free on internal.
I just hate that I have to do that, even though it works great. I have decided that I am not buying another Samsung phone until it is offered in at least 32GB. If nothing comes of the rumored S5 Premium I am probably going to the G3.
And that's sad because I have been one of Samsungs biggest supporters.

Is the note 3 too big for you? I've got one on sprint for my company phone and it comes with 32gb internal. I've been playing around alot with it and comparing it to my s5 and I'm kinda regretting the s5 atm and wishing I'd gone with the note 3 instead. If only it had an ip67 or better rating and capability to upgrade to the spark network via update!! But sadly it looks like it just doesn't have the new hardware like the newer s4's have.

I have a note 3 for work also. I like the note for work because the big screen comes in handy for remote support. But I personally wouldn't own a note. It is too large for my taste. I don't use the pen. So the S5 is perfect in size. But why they refuse to change from 16 on it is frustrating. Most of the other big name companies have moved on. And Samsung has also with the note. And the other companies have made it standard without hiking the price.
If the premium does come out I might bite the bullet and go with it, unless it too is only 16. But depending on price, design and ip certification I may not. Otherwise it will be someone else.
And I don't like the game Samsung is playing either, if it is true. Don't release an S5 that is marginally better than the S4, publicly say you aren't working on a premium version and then release one two months or so after the S5. Just come out and say we are releasing the S5 now and a premium version later. Yes I understand it is business and about the bottom line but I still don't like it. I think that is another reason why the S5 hasn't seen a lot of support yet. I think a lot of people are waiting to see if it does come out. Or are waiting for something better.

Well i completely understand that, especially now that they are shipping kit kat and we cant move apps to sd with kit kat. its kind of like they are lowballing us with 16gb just to turn around and say hah you guys fell for it and bought the POS. Here is the real flagship with 32gb base and premium build with the newer 805 etc. I could always handle 16 internal in the past when i was still able to move apps to my 32gb sd card without having to void my warranty. but now its just ridiculous that to just be able to utilize all of my apps I NEED to root. and all this crap with KNOX.
I might have to jump ship with my next upgrade, which is a shame, i've always like Sammy's toys. The samsung moment is the phone that got me started on them. and the rom community. being able to improve a phones longevity etc.

Great deal! And thanks for the kind words. I don't think I would be able to pass that up either.
