I have been torn about keeping the 16GB or getting the 32GB. I just don't know what to do. I have used a large amount of storage on the 16GB already and my 30 day return is up tomorrow. Any suggestions?
See the thread int eh android development section about Apps2SD that you can run without rooting or anythig. The author is TweakerL. Look it up.
Return for 32 imo. Unless your a pop the collar with your hat turned backwards kinda guy. Then keep the white.
I faced the same dilemma and decided to switch from 16gb to 32gb... If not it would have bothered me.
The only thing I miss is the White color...
I don't have the white one.

I have the 16 GB but I used this app to move my data folders to my 64GB microSD card. You can actually move any folders over, not just data folders.

I like the white color so this works out really well for me. This app effectively turned my White 16GB note into an 80GB note.

I don't view $50 as loads extra. Plus no matter how big your microsd card is you'll always have 16gb less with a 16 vs 32 model.

I have a 64GB card in there now and it detected as 59GB free. It's formatted FAT32.
I went right for the 32 gb because id second guess like yourself . Plus my a500 is 16 gb and runs out fast. So 32 + 64 gives me 86 gb of storage

Availability of the 3G 32GB version is a problem too, at least in Europe. No 3G, no tablet for me personally.
I ordered (and have been using) the 16gb in white for 2-3 weeks, and just decided yesterday to order the 32gb in deep gray, instead. Although I try to store all of my media externally, I use up that space quickly. At the same time, I find it to be a PITA to swap things between internal and external, such as backups and ROMs. I don't mind paying $50 more for twice the memory, but I wouldn't have paid much more than that at all.
As for the color, while I like the white, I'm not fond of the silver/gray borders; I think it makes the device look kinda cheap, like a toy, though I do like that it resembles my Skyrocket. However, the border on the Skyrocket is not only a lot slimmer, it's chrome, which is much more appealing to me. I wish they had done something similar in this case.

All 64GB cards show as 59GB. It happens with all storage devices. That's to do with the fact that you're never going to get the full amount that you get told you will, because a portion of that memory is actually being used by the storage device for information pertaining to its self.

It shows as 59GB mainly because manufacturers give the storage sace in 1000s wile your tablet counts it in 1024s.
I looked at this for mine and decided to go for the 32 gb model since DRM protected movies cannot currently be moved to the SD card.
Google Play phone support guy advised that they have rec'd a lot of requests to enable this, so perhaps in the future it won't be an issue.
Why? I just bought mine a week ago and now they are gone. Defective?
Hopefully this boosts the value of my 32gb by a bit then when in upgrade later this year

Probably a move to take more feature away from their customers, only to bring it back as an added monthly fee later ($5/mo for 32gb model anyone?)

There not defective. The 32gb S3 has been out for about 6 months which is average for a smartphone life span. It could also be that the 32gb version is not selling as good as the 16gb version. Who knows!!

We'll at least they didn't drop it to a penny one week after I paid retail. That would really hurt my feelings. Not sure where they going with this "bigger is not better" path they are taking. I didn't like the DNA as it didn't have an SD Card slot and worried about having only 16GB with this new internal SD card scheme. Loved the Razr Maxx HD but it only had 1GB RAM.
Love my S3 now that I am getting used to it other than it being slipperier than a bar of soap. Finally got it into a Seidio Convert but it might be overkill.
Maybe because the s4 is coming and orally also because the 16gb sells more

It's almost certainly because it wasn't selling as well as the 16 gig version. Most people wouldn't pay the extra hundred dollars when you can get a 64gb sdcard for $40.

Yes, but you can't put apps on external SD's anymore (yes with iffy apps and hacks) plus I'm guessing the internal memory is faster.
Ya, I JUST purchased a Verizon S3 32gb/Pebble blue because I have the Note 2 but I wanted something a tad smaller that I knew had GREAT development! The 32gb model is def where it's at!! :good: That gives you ample space to actually install huge games AND all of your favorite apps... I got it for a cool $325 off contract! I installed a few of the latest roms and they are VERY smooth compared to when I had it 5 months ago. I guaranty they were barely selling them...
The 32GB version probably wasn't selling as well because non Verizon stores didn't stock it. Not all verizon stores stocked it. People don't like to wait.

I have the 32GB pebble blue, so glad I got mine when I did ! For the $50 extra it was worth it.
Its not available in the stores, but it is available online to order. I am actually ordering one to replace my GN2 I sold. Verizon retail tole me it doesn't sell as well, but I don't buy that. $50 for twice the memory compared to Apple who charges $100+ for each memory upgrade option.
BTW, Best Buy doesn't stock the 32GB either but Amazon Wireless does.
got my 32gig pebble on preorder thru BBuy last july - thought it was kinda dumb to even offer a 16 gig model... who the carp wants less??? I'm sure the 16 giger only existed to offer the $199 price point they thought they needed.

This makes me feel good about GS4 purchase about 6 months after release... I can certainly pay $400 or less for it to keep my unlimited data
ugh..
Hmm.. that's weird. I hope it is not because of the S4. I don't want to see the awesome development for our phones slowly start to disappear...
I put up the extra fifty bucks for it and had to have it ordered because no stores had it in stock. Fine, no biggie to wait 3 days for double the internal memory.
Also went and dropped a 64 gig microsd in it - If I could have got a 64 gig internal version I still would have put a 64 external.
It doesn't matter how much space is available, I always need more.
You ever seen how much space a dev project takes up?
When I bought my S3 from the Verizon store I was told that the 32gb version was just a 16gb model with a 16gb sdcard installed. Obviously I just bought the 16gb model and threw in my old sdcard. Is there actually a 32gb internal storage version?

I loke having my photos on an external SD. I loved my Galaxy Nexus (and I love my Nexus 7) but I hated the camera and lack of SD. I can't go back to a locked bootloader (that was one of my favorite parts of the GNexus, how simple it was to unlock) and I need an SD. When they come outnwith one rhat has expandable memory, I'll be back.

I feel you. I mean it's convenient to be able to have external storage. Verizon locks up all their phones boot loaders, it's like a standard for them. For me I don't think cloud storage will be a problem with unlimited data. I don't think Google will give an option for expandable memory. It's a history with their devices that they don't have external SD's. I understand Google's perspective on why they do that but if the storage isn't expandable I feel it they should at least make bigger variants as options for those that do want more memory.

Ya, that is part of my current Verizon problem, limited data and on contract until December 2014 That is why I choose to go with the S3, while locked from Verizon devs make it possible to unlock.
If they made a 64, I think I could for go the external memory aspect. My GNex was a 32. It worked, but would definitely feel more comfortable with more.

Nexus 4 didn't have OTG support (without custom kernel and external power, which defeats the purpose). I'm still waiting for confirmation for the Nexus 5. OTG drains alot of battery and not the most convenient either, but it is one of the key feature I'm looking for.
The Nexus 4 launch was a failure because Google didn't expect this much demand from the Nexus 4, but Google has learned their lesson and has told LG to make a lot more Nexus 5s for the launch than last years Nexus 4.

It really bothers me when people try to make this argument...it's so self-centered, and besides, it's a fallacy. Your argument is this: Because you won't fill up 16gb of storage, it must be true that no one can have any possible reason to fill up 16gb of storage.
Everyone's usage patterns are different. Here's some logic that's not a fallacy: Because there are many people hoping and asking for a 32gb or 64gb option, it must be true that many people need more than 16gb.
Now, here's the part that really angers me. Why don't they just offer the user a choice? 16gb for $299, 32gb for $349, 64gb for $429. How hard can that really be?

This is a link of 2015 best Micro SD cards. Samsung has 10 year warranty and sits at second with Pro. That's what I'm going with. Google originally skipped external data due to its lack of speed and durability. This chart will show you what you should get to prepare for Android M at the end of September.

I'd still go with a 10 year warranty. SD cards aren't always most reliable. With 10 years, at least you have peace of mind knowing it might last several years.
Samsung Pro+ isn't on here either, but that's $50 for 32GB, as opposed to $27 on Amazon.
