I say this posted in nexus forum, so i figured I'd mirror the question over here, in my own words.
I was a huge fan of the HTC ime port done for froyo 2.2 back in the day when using my Sony x10. Since the one x sxreen is 720p, and so is ours (albeit at low resolution), u think someone'all figure out how to port it, without sense dependencies?

I havnt purchased my HTC Pure yet but I do plan on getting one. In the meantime I was curious.
Is it possible to load the HTC Sense UI from the HTC HD2 and load it on the ATT Pure?
The HTC Sense UI im talking about is the one found in this youtube vid I found on Endgadget
http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/08/htc-hd2-gets-itself-a-promo-video-and-a-website/#continued
You would need to flash this ROM
So would that particular rom be possible on the ATT Pure? Or would hardware differences prevent it from running like its being ran on the HD2
You should be able to flash it no problem but since the Hardware Keyboard on the Pure is different from all variants of the Diamond2 then you would have to find a cab or registry tweak to change keyboard layout.
Edit: The ROM is built for Diamond2 even though it's using packages from the HD2
Pure has no hardware keyboard
The pure doesn't have a hardware keyboard, and yes, there are numerous ROMs cooked by chiefs already that have the sense UI found in the HTC Leo (aka HD2). You just have to pick one and flash away
lol what was I thinking, yes at the time of my last posting I was thinking so much of the Tilt2 as I had just placed an order for it.

Yea, I have the Pure, but debating about returning it for the Tilt 2, if only for the larger screen space. But the camera on the Pure is really good compared to the Tilt 2 (5 MP vs. 3.2 MP). Oh, what to do????
it all bottoms down to whether you want a keyboard or not. if you have a phone i'm guessing you have a digital camera so you probably won't be using said phone to take studio quality photos, just quick snaps here and there. and the .4 inches in the screen also won't make a big deal. if you can type pretty well on the pure and what to save some money stick with the pure. if you are a person who prefers a physical keyboard and the price doesn't matter to you get the tilt 2.
I was wondering if it is possible if any developer(s) could make a htc sense hi port from the desire hd to the droid x

Obey the forum rules.
No. HTC Sense needs to have HTC hardware for the framework to run. It is impossible to run Sense on a Motorola device, just as it is impossible to run Blur on an HTC device.

not always true, there was a blur rom for the HTC Dream/G1 a good while back but it was buggy

Incorrect there are already threads and videos of a Droid/milestone running HTC UI
Funny answers, you got here..
Please, those who doubt, check my signature.....
If i had a DroidX, im sure, i could port it... i did it the other way around actually, but never released a droidx port, as it simply didnt offer anything good, so i went for droid2.
but yes, its for sure possible..
Yes it is possible but it will be very difficult because of the inability to run a sense-compatible kernel due to the signed bootloader

you dont know milestone? we got a locked kernel... so this kernel is in no way near HTC standards (far from it) as we cannot modify it at all.. PSK encryption key protected.
so i can only say... it was piece of cake to use htc sense on milestone... so htc is nothing special, it works great on my milestone.
ps: as i also noted, if i can use droidx/droid2 firmware on my milestone, the one i made for sense port i made for milestone should be easy to adapt to droidx if anyone would care looking into it.. they are having a droid port in place now, so droidx/droid2 here comes senseui soon to a phone nearby..
I am taking this on Any help will be greatly appreciated. Hopefully we will have sense on the droid X, and the Droid 2.

a suggestion/recommendation here would be to maybe look at my Milestone release for MotoFroyoSense, as the phones are pretty similar, except the GKI system + baseband differs..
but thats just a helpful hint

So if sense is portable to the droid x...what about MIUI? <<<<<< I would love this.
Sense 3.5
Is this dead in the water? Looked pretty promising. Just bought my girlfriend the Rhyme. Would LOVE to have 3.5 on my Droid X. I would just buy the Rhyme, but the screen is just a tad too small (3.7) and the plum color isn't suitable for men to carry around. The cradle/dock that comes with it is awesome too.
Sorry didn't find a phone reccomendations forum of any sort and this is questions and answers ^^ please move it if this is the wrong forum.
Basically requesting possible phones that may suit my needs after 2 years of cycling through phones that have displeased me in one way or another.
Previous phones in the last year: Blackberry bold 9700 Bold, Xperia X10, iPhone 3GS & HTC Hero.
They have all dissapointed me in one way or another.
Blackberry bold with its good integration of facebook and BBM, but is way too small of a screen for me.
Xperia X10i turned me off android, sorry but the android OS is just ugly to me ( but that could just be 1.6 & 2.1. ) Also battery was terrible it would be dead by 6pm in the day. multi touch also essential.
others weren't that great either.
My friend has an iPhone 4 and I play around with it alot, the screen resolution is great, everything is organised great and its good.. however the screens not big enough for me.
i'm looking for something in the market of 4-4.3"+ phones ( not tablets ), with good screen quality, not android unless it looks significantly better than that of 1.6 / 2.1. Good quality camera and screen is a must, 3.5mm audio headphones, great battery or the possibility to load one of those cases with an extra battery. 16GB-32GB storage internal / external.
what are my options?
My recomandation would be:
iPhone
HTC Desire HD
Based on your screen size requrements.
I listed the HTC even it is Android.
HTC's sense is a bit different than standard Android.
It might suit you.
Google for a HTC Desire HD emulator page or something.
I remember SE had some emulators for their phones back in the days.
So People could try'em out before they bought it.
I think you should try some phone run on windows phone7

HTC Desire HD how is that for camera, screen quality and is it multi touch?
I really like the HTC Desire S camera application and I was wondering if there was a way to port it to the original Desire? I'm currently running CyanogenMod 7.0.3 on it and it uses the stock camera app that comes with Android 2.3.3. Let's be honest, it looks pretty dated. =P
The HTC Dev site just launched yesterday/today (depending on your time zone) and the source code for the Desire S is available, so maybe some awesome person out there will be able to port it.
Any hope for me and other people who like some of HTC Sense?
Thanks guys!
Hi all,
jonasl posted a modded version of the HTC IME quite a while back which worked perfectly with froyo and GB. It is by far the best keyboard I've ever used. It's quick and efficient. I even used it on my sensation (although it didn't fit the screen right) when running GB. Another user greves1 is also looking for this keyboard on AOSP ROMS. (original thread here)
This keyboard crashes every time I choose another word from the prediction list. Is there any fix or way to get this to run smoothly on ICS sense 3.6 (3.32 base)?
I hope there is something that can be done. This keyboard would be a great asset to any HTC user!
i am thinking that it should be relatively easy to pick out the dictionary files for the sense 4 htc_ime, as they are each downloaded individually from htc's servers. don't know why you're getting fc though. im confident that if this doesn't get done for sensation, someone will do it for one x or one s and it can be ported to our device. nice to see someone else interested in this as well, though!
I would offer to help with this project, but I know literally nothing about coding or app development.
it's really not that hard, it's just that not very many people have an interest in it, as most people only use english keyboard, or are happy with some other keyboard to suit their international needs. as i have stated elsewhere, as a Taiwanese company, one thing HTC did absolutely right was the chinese input on their devices. nothing beats htc_ime for chinese input.
Well I'm a relatively quick learner. You reckon we could try tackle this ourselves?
