Hi all,
Does anyone know if it is possible to install any v2.3 Android onto a Samsung Galaxy 551 phone and get rid of touchwiz and the other customizations?
Many thanks for any info!

great question anyone
Think you guys would have better luck taking it to a dedicated forum, androidforums(dot)com has a dedicated section for that phone, sorry cant apparently post links due to the strict rules in the forum.
if u cant post that then just post the link to that section only daaaa

ask it in the rom's thread or in q&a section
arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
First u remove this thread from here. Later u can think whether to remove the ROM or not
OK. 2 things......
OP - Be sure to post in the correct section. If you are having problems with a particular rom, please post it in that roms section so other users that are using it/have used it may help. There is a Q & A section also located here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252709
where other users and senior members would love to help you out.
Other members - Try and be a little more polite. XDA is a great place for info and lets not try to scare a noob away. You never know, that noob may one day be the next great dev for you guys. We were all noobs once Just try to help and nicely point them in the right direction. We are all family here.
Are the new roms (MIUI and CM9) affected by the push notification bug like the gingerbread based?
This is exactly the question I wanted to ask! What bout MIUI v6 or even cm9 for that matter? Atleast ICS should work right?
You can read the threads about those ROMS in the Dev Section, but u cannot post if u haven't made the 10 useful posts, maybe the answer to ur Qs are already on those threads.... U can also see the Q&A threads about each ROM in this section
I found that there are so many custom roms on development part.
CyanogenMod 9 (unofficial)][TeamChopsticks][Alpha 4
Team Wafflehouse AOKP Update M4 6/03/12
SKYICS 4.2E-12.5(ULCE2) 6/6/12--- Amazing battery.CRT OFF!!!!!
these are all great Roms , however , I only found CM9 has a known issue list. anyone has a known list for AOKP or SKYICS 4.2E 12.5(ULCE2), let me know first. thanks in advance
You may want to read in more detail:
From this thread on AOKP:
Bugs
*Same Issues as cm9 (alpha 4)

As far as the ICS Roms available there is a thread that details the problems in the various leaks. These will be in the Roms based on them - unless the dev(s) state otherwise.
For ROMs based on CM or AOKP you can check the project pages for each to see more details.
Edit: BTW - I just noticed that I am replying to your first post. You really need to check out this section and this video.
Welcome to XDA.
thanks
thanks very much . i am a new member here. love this forum so much. i have watch the fun video with your link.

You may have watched it but didn't get the message.
As mentioned in the video if a post helps you or provides useful info - hit the thanks button on that post. If you are using the XDA app, tap the message to see the button. Adding a new post to says thanks with no other content just clutters up the threads.

Hey MJ, I think this can be discussed over ardatdat thread.. @NewbieGalaxyR: buddy you can ask whatever problem is coming to your device due to Devs development. so please ask to Ardatdat thread for kernel.
Reported to Justin for this thread.
First of all this issues should be posted to kernel thread there is no need to create whole new topic for just a single issue.
Btw have u wiped data from CWM before flashing ardatdat kernel?
Try to boot in recovery mod if u r unable to boot in recovery than there are chances that its a brick.
If ur phone is booting in recovery mod than DONT RESTORE CWM BACKUP. U are having stock kernel and restoring nand backup is dangerous.
I suggest to donwload official ICS (from sammobile, see dev section for links) and flash it through Odin, than flash CWM and flash ardatdat kernel it will work fine.

There are lot of threads regarding these that how to be new user and not a noob. (like one made by mf in my sig) also we have sticky made by cooleagle regarding where to post. New users should read it first before posting.

This is okay guys. I'm happy with either:
a) a thread in General asking the question; or
b) a post in the respective thread.
In my ideal world, the kernel thread itself would contain nothing but the initial release and changelogs, and be closed after two posts (meaning people could only 'thank' the release, not post their thanks). All other discussion/praise/moaning/bug reports would be in a kernel Q&A thread in here, with one for each kernel/ROM available.
So I don't really mind seeing new topics for questions, so long as they are questions which haven't been answered time-and-time again.
Thanks for the heads-up and diligence though, I appreciate it greatly
Justin
Thank you Justin the way you are handling this Forum is really great....
@NewbieGalaxyR please make sure from next time you follow the XDA Rules...

can we have now have a Q&A section...?
because with the release of ICS, there would be definitely a lot of newbies and ppl who would ask such Quest..
hope you understand...!!
Deeply thanks everyone for answering questions for me.
I do not always have time to keep refreshing the forum, but I will not hesitate to answer any questions within my knowledge
