Have you taken CWM backup before flashing Ardatdat's kernel...
Hope you have flashed it on ICS only..

Hey MJ, I think this can be discussed over ardatdat thread.. @NewbieGalaxyR: buddy you can ask whatever problem is coming to your device due to Devs development. so please ask to Ardatdat thread for kernel.
Reported to Justin for this thread.

First of all this issues should be posted to kernel thread there is no need to create whole new topic for just a single issue.
Btw have u wiped data from CWM before flashing ardatdat kernel?
Try to boot in recovery mod if u r unable to boot in recovery than there are chances that its a brick.
If ur phone is booting in recovery mod than DONT RESTORE CWM BACKUP. U are having stock kernel and restoring nand backup is dangerous.
I suggest to donwload official ICS (from sammobile, see dev section for links) and flash it through Odin, than flash CWM and flash ardatdat kernel it will work fine.

There are lot of threads regarding these that how to be new user and not a noob. (like one made by mf in my sig) also we have sticky made by cooleagle regarding where to post. New users should read it first before posting.

This is okay guys. I'm happy with either:
a) a thread in General asking the question; or
b) a post in the respective thread.
In my ideal world, the kernel thread itself would contain nothing but the initial release and changelogs, and be closed after two posts (meaning people could only 'thank' the release, not post their thanks). All other discussion/praise/moaning/bug reports would be in a kernel Q&A thread in here, with one for each kernel/ROM available.
So I don't really mind seeing new topics for questions, so long as they are questions which haven't been answered time-and-time again.
Thanks for the heads-up and diligence though, I appreciate it greatly
Justin

Thank you Justin the way you are handling this Forum is really great....
@NewbieGalaxyR please make sure from next time you follow the XDA Rules...

can we have now have a Q&A section...?
because with the release of ICS, there would be definitely a lot of newbies and ppl who would ask such Quest..
hope you understand...!!

Deeply thanks everyone for answering questions for me.
I do not always have time to keep refreshing the forum, but I will not hesitate to answer any questions within my knowledge

Vishal is doing what is necessary to ensure some order here.
You should be given some responsibility to maintain discipline here and then check for yourself how irritated one gets by constant noob topics being created for absolutely no reason. And Vishal has taken the responsibility on his own.
If ur getting irritated by anyone then just add them to your ignore list. Else learn to adapt

I have no personal problem with anybody.

MR Singh, Credible devs show progress when creating a thread. Trying for the 1st time does not make you special (enuff said). There are genuinely interesting dev threads here in the i9003 dev section that people follow, yours is sadly not one of them. PLEASE DELETE IT.
Vishal is right in instituting some discipline in i9003 noob community. He has gotten his act together on a number of times in mobilizing support for devs in the community (cm7/uc-kernel etc). I think no one should doubt his intentions.

I also seen your conversation with longfeng on the icebolt rom thread..and he is right on the changing of vold.fstab..

completely agree with u. Even its more surprising is that when someone scold to such noobs for creating un-necessary threads then instead of supporting that senior member other people start blaming to that senior member that he is doing bossing over there. We people must understand that if we keep some strict decipline here then only noobs with behave properly. We cant completely rely on our mods.

Remember the days when xxkph custom roms were out......we were having a clean forum....then it got separated........now development section is clean but general section is totally populated....this is called urbanisation ;->
Hey guys, a new member here, but have been lurking in this board for a few months now.
I agree that it is really very annoying to see the same questions over and over again, but then, it is also so hard, with the amount of pages of often offtopic posts (replying to conversations not related to the main topic)/double posts. If there were some sort of chatbox here, then I guess the amount of spam posts might be redirected to the CB.
Also, I do hope I can be a good member here in the forums. I'm really trying to modify and customize my own ROM, but I guess I'll have to observe and learn more every now and then.

[Q] How to delete AOKP from the start up menu?

I was trying out different ROMs based on AOKP and CM9 on my device and I have finally chose to use the CM9 one. How can I remove "boot AOKP" from the start up? Does the present of the AOKP ROM take up space in my device? Thanks in advance.
You'll need to provide more details. What device do you have and what is this start menu? What rom is it?
And it shouldn't be taking up space on your system if you have CM installed. just taking space on your sd or internal flash memory.

I have an HP touchpad and I have installed this rom in both AOKP and CM9 version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501637
The CM9 is better so I decided to keep using it. How do I remove unnecessary stuff from previously installed ROM?
The start up menu means the one with black background and blue text for you to choose which OS to boot. Sorry for being a noob

lol, no problem. Its just commonly a good thing to state your device and what your running if you don't have that info in your signature, and always be as descriptive as possible. We love to help, but it makes it hard if we don't have something to go off of
I'm assuming you have some custom recovery installed like CWM recovery. Basically in recovery you would have had to of wiped before you flashed CM or your device wouldn't have booted. If it did, then we have a miracle on our hands When you wipe it removes all little bits of your previous rom. I suppose if you are still concerned there is an issue, you could just reboot back to recovery again and wipe everything except your sd and internal (not familiar with the device if it has those), and then just reflash the rom with gapps.
As far as the start menu I have no clue, I don't own that device to know how to remove or modify it. If I had to guess, I'd say it has something to do with the bootloader, and you should look around for a custom one on the forums that is modded for what you want.
Anyways, this is all just basic stuff and may not apply for the touchpad. If anything, just ask in the q&a section for the device that way a dev for that device can help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1467
I know you are new here so I'll just let you know real quick before I go, each device on XDA has five subforums.
TouchPad:
General
Q&A
Accessories
Development
Themes and Apps
So in the future if you have questions, the Q&A section for the TouchPad will be the best place to ask. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind helping, i just don't know the device like your actual devs would. Good luck!

This belongs in Q&A not general, for future reference. I have reported this to the MODS, so they can move it.
if you're planning to flash jellybean then you need the boostrap from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19355021 , with that installed, go to dev section of the forum and d/l a custom rom and flash following steps in the op , remember always to make a backup of your current rom
sent from the gray stuff inside my skull
There are only two roms based on JB. And both have a guide to install.
Any links for some good n stable roms are appriciated.. Kindly help

So, you're not "lazy", just apprehensive. There's nothing wrong with that. However, what we do here on xda isn't to spend time explaining all the pros vs/ cons to all ROMs available, nor is it anyone's assertion as to what the "best" ROM may be -as this is all very subjective to the individual. There's a hefty ROM list of threads in the development section, so it's your responsibility to read over each one (that may strike you as interesting) and make your own assessment to which you may choose.
Also, each ROM thread by our dev team has explicitly detailed installation instructions, so there should be no reason as to why you would run into trouble -so long as you read, re-read, and fully understand what you're getting yourself into.
Also, there's a handy little help thread that I started for any and all questions, problems, etc. So, if you happen to run into anything, feel free to post there. Myself and a few others maintain that thread, so you should expect an answer without the need of posting a new thread each time you have a problem.

[Q]

ear deveshmanish.iam useing ROM CM10.1.2 Stable Release[UNOFFICIAL] UPDATED July 14 right now.
Video cant not work on 1080p mode. Can U fix that in next version?
First - Show little respect for developers & forum! Creating empty threads & even if it in GENERAL leads to thread locked/deleted.
Second - Creating threads about ROM problem will not help it solved... Pst it in ROM thread.
Third - Your probem is already known in all custom ROM's, so it can't be solved for now...
I suggest you read forum rules...

At least you can show a little respect... our devs are working very hard to keep the a2 alive ...give them some time to resolve matters... and dont make a seperate thread just to ask the devs to fix a bug ...it really irritates them... please keep the a2 forum clean...stop posting like this even if your new...

Ignorance is not an excuse. Since you're new, you need to read this:

before doing anything else.
