It might have something to do with yout os version. I have 4.1.1 jelly beans and am waiting to get a rooting software that will work (super clickone will not work)

New Rooter
Hi Guys, I'm sorry if this is answered in full elsewhere but I can't find the answers to my questions in their entirety. For the past number of years I have had iphones and happily jailbreaking, I have just scored myself a shiny new Samsung Galaxy S3 and naturally want to root it. Now I am terrified of bricking it so want to be absolutely sure I am on track as I have never owned an android device before. The phone in question is from T Mobile uk running 4.1.2 baseband l9305BVBLL2 Model Number GT-19305. I will be using an iMac for the process. Any help greatly appreciated.
I just realised the actual question was not raised (trying to multitask), is there specific software that needs to be used with the different hardware for example does it matter if it is a mac with galaxy s3 or pc with galaxy s2 or htc whatever etc. Is it easy to brick during the process, and if you brick it is there anyway out. I'm sorry if these are dumb questions but I need to satisfy myself before proceeding with the root

You need to root using Odin. Go to galaxys3root.com for how to videos and links to tools and ROMs.

Gonna have to disagree on that website. Galaxys2root caused endless problems for people who used that method on our device. I would recommend finding a method here on xda. The s3 will have a thread with stickies to read and many tried and true methods

[Q] To root or not to root..thats the question!

Hey guys,
since more than a month i am using the xperia active from Sony Ericsson and i ve still guarantee on it.
It s an awesome smartphone, but sometimes the RAM is overloaded and it starts to lag.
Then the battery works for just a day, because of the background-apps, then i ve to charge it again... really annoying
Thats why i want to root my smartphone. Actually i ve ICS(4.0.4) on it (before it was 2.3 or sth.) and i would like to keep it, but on it i want superuser rights. Therefore i found "zergrush" from doomlord, but in other threads i just read thats for Android 2.2/2.3 ...
Is it possible to root my phone without loosing my guarantee (to make root "nearly" unseen after unroot, in case of warranty) on that device?
(sorry for my bad english, i hope you understood my situation and give me some answers )
greetings Red
You can try rooting using Doomlords method for ICS
Flash a stock kernel of 4.0.3
Root it using Doomlords kit
PS its a batch file
Flash back 4.0.4 kernel
Done !!!

Whether you're going to root it or not is up to u. However, if u do root and u want to make it unseen or unroot, flashing an official stock rom removes the root data.
i read a thread that made a few things clear, i cant remember who posted it (sorry) but it just said that if they cant prove that u rooting your phone is the cause of whatever wrnt rong with your phone, they will still have to fix it under the warranty.
I also never heard of anyone messing up their android as a result of rooting.
Im not saying jump into it and root your android, be careful as we are always warned that their are risks onvolved and developers knows best

For sure root it´s the best option for anyone that like to customize the system.
You should try superoneclick its a program which basically roots your your phone for you, gives you superuser and there shouldn't be drastic changes to your OS either
google it and download then go to youtube and follow a tutorial such as youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=lD4_wAj1WIY (sorry cant post links yet)
As for warranties I'm not sure but this is the safest and easiest method I'm aware of
but you should probably make sure it works on your phone and make a backup before you try it

Root for mk2 update

Root is achievable on the new mk2 ota update using the notoriously called "questionable" VROOT. **edit** its questionable because the website is in chinese, not a reputable developer so use at your own risk. That being said I did a full factory restore before doing this No personal info stored and immediately deleted their bootleg Super su app. Reguardless the instructions are pretty straightforward and easy for even a newbie to do with the explanation given. Just google "vroot xda" and you will find threads they don't mention att galaxy s4 but believe me it works I have stock 4.3 with root right now with titanium backup installed and crapware frozen.
I know some people already know this im making a thread on this for ppl that dont know yet and have beem searching like I have before I found it. Any questions feel free to ask as we are here to help each other against applesung I mean samsung

Doesn't work for me. I downloaded the USB drivers and installed them manually. Proceeded to download vRoot on my Win7 laptop and ran as administrator. Connected the phone, hit the green button and a small message popped up above the green button. I used the Google Translate app to find out what it said and it read "Device Not Recognized".
Yes, USB debugging is enabled (verified in Dev Options).
Yes, I reboot my phone multiple times.
I used Kingo root on mine and it worked as well.

The concern over this root method is not because the website is in Chinese...
Please research this method before doing anything that potentially puts your private data and IMEI number at risk.

From what I've seen, there hasn't been much way in reversing vroot/kingo to a viable known safe method; am I wrong? Is there development being done on a new root still?
Who knows with all these new phones coming out all the time... we can just use the known methods that work even if they werent meant for the devices we have

I believe the problem with vroot was it opens your phone up to a Chinese server and most antivirus applications deemed it as malware.

Its not samsung...its any ATT phone now...ATT stated a while go they will no longer be supporting phones with unlocked bootloaders...in other words every phone from ATT will likely have a locked bootloader :/
And to the op...from my understanding the fact that its in chinese wasnt what was in question...it was the fact that it connects to a chinese server, and since its rooting they can obtain any data off your phone with out you knowing...could be stored credit cards, photos, contacts, imei...or nothing at all, but there is the possibility

Of course there is no danger in someone taking your IMEI, cloning your phone and using your service on your dime... or grabbing your bank account info because you use a banking app, or buying stuff on Amazon or eBay with your account, etc.
I cannot emphasize enough that anyone thinking about this method of rooting their phone do some research first.

Except the goverenment already has just about all your info...as others have stated...the people who made this root option have the ability to obtain any info from your phone, and have the ability to use it with a malicious intent...
But your right, you want root you take the risk...as for me ill wait for a confirmed safe method of rooting, so i dont have to take that risk

[Q] Andriod v4.2.2 ?

I would like to root my SGT-P5113 that has been upgraded to v4.2.2..I have had problems every since this update....Does the root instructions and files still pertain to this, or do I need a different file, if so, what is it? You still can do with the thread instruction to root, what is important is what comes after.
Make sure you flash latest recovery for your devices after rooting, and then you'll happy to use any rom you like!

Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) . Android version 4.0.4. It was the last official firmware that we got for our phone. If you don't know for sure, go to settings>about phone and it'll be your model number. When you bought the phone, it was most likely running Gingerbread (GB ) , 2.3.6 (or something close to that). If you're on GB, first download kies on your computer and upgrade that bad boy to ICS. If you're on ICS, wonderful! I'll link you the information you need.
Read, very, carefully!
Our phone is pretty sturdy and not easy to brick, but that doesn't mean you can't do it! If you do something outside of the instructions, you'll brick it.

[Q] Help with Rerooting galaxy s blaze 2.3.6

ok so i recently got my samsung galaxy s blaze 2.3.6 rooted after it was stuck on a soft brick. I guess i didnt root it right with odin i am using DarkKnight build 8 ROM with TFQ scorched kernel GB 1.0 and it didnt really feel like it was working right after a few days so i did a root checker and it said i didnt have it rooted but i could still get super user and other root apps from google play so i look some stuff up and i guess i rooted my phone from the SD card instead of the phone itself...can someone help me on how to fix this? i spent days upon days trying to root it the first time after i soft bricked it and i realized how hard it is to find stuff for my phone. im also still new to this whole "root" thing and i tried the blaze bible and i just got confused, and sorry i just realized i posted this on the wrong forum after i looked where i was putting it...
So you're on gingerbread, huh? That's unfortunate, a lot easier if you were ics.
First, it doesn't matter where the zip is, both storages work. Second, if I was you, I would find the official ics firmware and use Odin to flash it. Give me a bit and I'll find a post in here somewhere that lays out the steps to get your phone back up and running...
