Galaxy S III And Sprint? Realistic? - General Questions and Answers

I am switching to Sprint for fincial reasons and was going to get the Galaxy S II and then I found out Sprint was going to get 4G LTE so I waited. Then I was going to get the Nexus with 4G LTE but then again I found out that the HTC EVO is coming out so I waited. Now I am finding out that the Galaxy S III is coming out May/June and so I wait. I know this sounds retarded but I really think I can wait for the Amazing Galaxy S III because I believe in my heart that is a phone you can buy for longer than 5 minutes and not feel like crap right afterwards.
I am really going to miss the amazing applications to root the Nexus but do you think the Galaxy S III will have easy applications as well. [The Sprint model that is]
Also how is the voice quality between the two the Nexus and the S II/III? You can also chime in on the EVO if you want.
Main questions is seems like Sprint ‘s only major good phone atm is the Galaxy S II and they have had that for a while so don’t you think they will be in line for sure to get the Galaxy S III? Or do you think I should just get the Nexus or EVO and shut up?
I really want the Galaxy S III though on Sprint! I am getting on a family plan that will be cheaper!

Bump ...

I'd be surprised if they didn't get it. They've had both the Galaxy S and the S2, the Galaxy and Evo series is what I personally think really drives Sprint sales. I'm sure the Galaxy S3 will be rooted before it's even officially released The exynos chipset is open source so development for it should be very nice, just as it has been for the S2. I haven't had the Evo, just the S2, so my comment may be one sided; but the quality on the phone is fine, I've never had an issue with how loud the speaker is when making a call, or clarity for that matter. But I think clarity has more to do with the carrier than the phone itself. But in all seriousness, just wait. I know it might be a while. There's probably going to be times when you look at your phone and just want to go in and upgrade, but it's better to wait than to have a nexus/evo for three months and then watch everyone else buy the S3. The satisfaction of waiting will pay off

Remains to be seen, but given the past it could be Fall of this year. Only say that because they were months apart before and we don't even have a release date, let alone an official unveiling.

Yes I am definitely going to wait. I believe the phone is already out in the UK or will be in May. I think you can even order it on Amazon in another country. I am pretty confident that Sprint will carry the phone.

Will the Galaxy S III have a removeable battery? If it does not would that be a problem when modding? You know when you need to pull out battery for a hard reset?

Any Updates? Will Galaxy S III have the Quad Core Processor?

Hey im in the same boat except I have been able to upgrade for almost a year and a half. I have the old HTC Hero was going to get the SII but was broke by then and waited for the Galaxy Nexus. Now finally the SIII is coming out but I cant wait till october thats a long wait the only other phone id get is the Galaxy Nexus for the LTE. The Evo 4G LTE is a joke HTC has been sending out crappy phones lately I would suggest you wait for the SIII or LG Viper

So you think the Galaxy S III will not be out till October? I have been reading rumors for around June/July.

"Already in production, the Exynos 4 Quad is scheduled to be adopted first into Samsung’s next Galaxy smartphone that will officially be announced in May,” - Samsung April 26th
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/04/samsung-exynos-chip-galaxy-s-iii/

The original Evo 4G, I had, and I have the Sprint S2 right now. In terms of development, the original Evo had the biggest, most development community ever. It was definitely the biggest of any CDMA phone, and it even rivaled a lot of GSM phone dev communities. For a while, when XDA announced which phones had the most active communities, the HTC Evo was #1 or #2.
HTC phones, at least before they had this "HTC Bootloader Unlock" garbage, had the most diverse ROMs with completely new features added. For example Myn, who's probably the most famous Evo/Evo 3D dev added notification bar toggles, from scratch. Something that was exclusive to Samsung phones. He didn't port them, he made them. He created a roaming menu in his ROMs. He ported ROMs from GSM HTC phones like the Desire HD and Desire Z to the Evo. It was awesome, seriously.
Samsung phones (or at least the CDMA ones) tend to pretty much have ROMs that are all the same at the core, but some have slightly different features/tweaks. I'm a little disappointed, coming from HTC phones (Evo, Evo 3D, even though the Evo 3D didn't live up to the hype), but the raw power of the S2 makes up for it. Some ROMs come ICS themed which is nice, but within Android itself is the potential to throw widgets/launchers/themes around so it's not really anything special.
Personally, for diversity in ROMs I say HTC phones, however, Samsung allows you to root your phone out of the box. If you hold volume down and power when turning on the phone, it gives you a warning and then takes you to the bootloader. There is no bootloader lock, which I love. For raw power, I say Samsung for sure. Also, HTC phones feel more sold, Samsung phones are usually very plasticky but durable and really fast.
Sorry, I know my comment is all over the place. I'm typing this at 2:34 AM.

That was true for a while, however now that they lock the bootloaders pretty tight, and use closed source hardware, they are pretty much just limited to small variations of stock roms.
Take for example the Evo 3D community, it sucks for the most part.

I'm aware. I had a 3D. It didn't suck in the beginning, when all phones came with 1.4 hboot (which I had before I sold mine), but eventually development plateaued and all ROMs were basically the same, save for some tweaks or theme differences. Like you said though, HTC really messed up with the bootloader thing.

So is the Samsung Galaxy S's still have open source bootloaders? Or are any of them locked? Will I be probably safe with the Sprint Galaxy S III?

The Galaxy S was never locked down, but Samsung never openly said, "here, hack our phones". The SII (including US variants), when you boot them up while holding volume up, you get this screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After that, you get a screen that just lists the hardware variant and tells you if you're on official firmware or not. It also keeps track of the number of times you flash the device from the computer using a program called ODIN, which is used for flashing kernels, ROMs, and bootloaders (when your device is stock or if it's soft-bricked). After you flash, say, ClockworkMod Recovery, you can flash from there and it won't up the counter. You can also buy a little USB jig from Amazon or eBay that wipes the counter.
All in all, Samsung has been very open; they sent the CyanogenMod team a bunch of Galaxy S IIs when it first came out so they could port over CM7. It'll still void your warranty obviously, but it's not something they look down on, like HTC nowadays (which is a damn shame because HTC was great with developers). It doesn't look like the GSIII will be locked down either.

Samsung actually said that they won't lock their bootloaders unless google asked them to. Something tells me google won't be doing that anytime soon.

So what do you guys think? The Galaxy S III the best choice for me for my next cell phone? With Sprint that is. I shouldn't have to wait to long huh?

I do not want to go with the HTC Evo 4G LTE because of the root problems, the LG Viper I am sure is garbage, Galaxy S II is no comparison to the Galaxy S III, and the Nexus is coming up on a year old phone [Even though I love the support root apps they have]. I believe it should be an easy decision.

It went through the fcc, has the name NEXUS S (Nexus + Galaxy S) google on the back and 2.3 (Gingerbread) vanilla in the U.I. picture.

This news / confirmation of rumors is the best news for all SGS phones since the SGS line was released! This all but guarantee's we will get Honeycomb when it comes out and it should be ported quickly!

I totally agree with you. It looks pretty fugly compared to the cap. I was actually thinking that it could have been pretty sexy if they had taken the Omnia 7 style chasis and android-fied it and thrown in some more metal instead of cheap feeling plastic.

I hope it's the same hardware and we'll see a port, I'm not about to but another super phone, although the ffc and presumably hsupa and possibly hspa+ do make it tempting even if it's the same hardware.
If it's new hardware, I'll be mad I bought the captivate.

The hardware should be relatively similar, probably most similar to the Epic 4g. I base this on the fact that it was originally supposed to be out Nov 14 (I forgot where I read this, androidandme.com maybe?), and that the model number is I9020. I highly doubt they put some next-gen hardware in it that would make it impossible to port the OS to our captivates.
I hope it comes with worth while hardware improvements if its only standard Galaxy S then there is no point upgrading if you already have Galaxy S variant..
how does this mean we are going to be the first ones to get gingerbread / comb? (not trying to be a ****, can't convey tone in type, this is a genuine question) I understand a port might be SLIGHTLY easier, but what if it has a lot of different hardware? (as someone who is not really familiar with phone development, I am genuinely curious) and I really don't think that the release of this will mean that samsung will continue to support its other phones (c'mon people, its sammy). I think Ill certainly buy one, WOOT for updates from google!

It ties in with it being easier to port to our phones, and I highly doubt it'll carry the new 1.2ghz processor.. considering that's slated for the new flagship samsung
http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/11/exclusive-samsung-flagship-phone-with-gingerbread-and-huge-di/
come to think of it, this is samsung's dream phone, they get to utilize all their sexified hardware, and not have to give a crap about software updates since that would (presumably) be handled by google. I think it was meant to be <3 and also WHY THE HELL DOES T-MOBILE GET ALL OF THE DAMN GOOGLE EXPERIENCE PHONES!? (best buy's leaked info suggests it will be through t-mobile, heres to hoping that it carries the at&t bands like the vibrant does)

Well, the assumption was that it wouldn't have a lot of hardware differences (same cpu, gpu, modem, etc.), meaning that porting the rom over to work on the captivate would be a lot easier than something with next-gen hardware, which would necessitate writing custom drivers and whatnot.
Looks like my assumption is turning out to be false though. Sorry to wreck everyone's Friday afternoon with this, but check this article out:

[DISCUSSION] Why is everyone hating on Samsung phones?

I never owned one, and even now I'm a big supporter of Samsung and their products. I owned their mp3 (YP-P2) and it's simply amazing. I own two of their LCD monitors as well and also a laser printer, and they are all working perfectly.
So why so much hate on the Samsung?
I remember reading this one post of this guy saying never again will he own another Samsung phone from his experience with one of their phones... the Galaxy probably?
because their phones suck
I had a Galaxy S and after being with HTC for my previous Android phones it was like going from a BMW to a Hyundai. Felt like Fisher Price made it.
until you own a Samsung PHONE, you shouldn't even bother posting this...
anyways here's why i hate them
awful gps... my ex galaxy s, now my sisters phone never gor the gps working
feels plastic... it feels like the phone should be half the price, awfully constructed.
i am the only one that thinks that the screen other than having awesome colors and be more vivid... is just not THAT awesome? ( talking galaxy s wise )

I had a samsung clamshell dumbphone, and it was the most solid phone I've ever owned. Sure, the GUI was terrible.. but it worked great otherwise! lol.
I think the simple answer is because you are on the xda forums. Many members here (myself included) are very loyal to HTC manufactured phones. It is much like asking why there is so much hate for Dell on an Apple forum. The demographic makeup of the posters will trend towards users with some level of brand loyalty.
Additionally Samsung may or may not have inferior build quality in general, but it is a natural tendency for users to have more negative opinions of products they declined vs ones they chose. It is a subconscious way of enforcing contentment with their decisions.
I am not saying that there are no perfectly valid and real reasons to choose HTC over Samsung, or vice versa. What I am suggesting is that the trend towards negativity is impacted by the demographic of users on the forums.
After having the vibrant and the captivate they both just feel cheap to me and plastic like compared to sprint evo or google G2. I love the feel of a solid phone. Compare the original N1 to the NS by samsung just my to cents.

They're cheap they feel and work cheap. The screens are bright but that's it the TWUI is awfull smh. You should read up on what happened with the Behold II. Its complete BS tbh. Plus they just said galaxy S phones may or may not see gingerbread... oxymoron since Nexus S is basicly Galaxy S

I have a G2 and a Vibrant. I happy with both phones, but it took a long time to get the Vibrant to that level. The G2 out of the box was very good experience, but with CM6 I can't a reason to try anything else. Eventually the Vibrant will get there someday after Samsung and the carriers can get on the same sheet of music.

maybe get a samsung phone first... There are plenty of companys that do some things good...
try a samsung phone, ive hated the two i had for a short while.
The Vibrant was by far the most poorly made device I've ever owned. Cheap plastic, corners cut on design in places that made a huge difference (volume rocker was garbage). It was TOO light, due to the crap material used. Plus, the gps couldn't get a lock no matter how long I waited.
It nearly soured me on android, as it was my first device with this glorious OS. I got tmobile to swap my Vibrant for the G2 (after 40 days lol) and I couldn't be happier.

I'm actually a fan of samsung phones. I don't know why but I've never had that much problems with it that couldn't be solved. Yes it does feel cheap, but I've never had an actual broken phone because of dropping or any other physical harm. This is coming from a previous spica user, an international version of galaxy s (not really mine but I've held it more than the actual owner did..), and now a tab (which does actually feel way better than the previous two).
My friends own htc phones, and while I do admit they feel more solid compared to sammys, I'm contented with my phones already.
The SGS series has too many problems going for it compared to the HTC series, especially on XDA where the HTC community is strong.
Nexus S is a different story though.

Samsung Exhibit 4G

Is this what the vibrant should have been? Outside of the lower pixel count camera and the smaller (3.5") screen this phone looks like what the Vibrant should be now! Full use of ext4 from factory, gingerbread, etc etc
It already has everything else the Vibrant has, hummingbird processor and superamoled screen. Ok not completely sure if it is amoled or S-amoled, but is is 400x800 resolution though and looks pretty good
What do you guys think?
Wait for the Hercules or some other equal........... dual processor makes a huge difference on the phone
Agreed... I love the Sensation!!!! But if we can't get S=Off & Root I'm back to my ol' faithful Vibrant.
@ Oka
The only way that the dual core would somewhat make a difference is if they up and ante the RAM capacity, to atleast 1gb. Dual cores screams RAM-hog-heavy apps to utilize the power of the dual core. But if it's limited, that's a problem.
I've been reading in the SGS II forums, and it's their biggest problem, the RAM capacity.
unable to unlock exhibit 4G
I bought this phone in USA and brought it to Europe. Unfortunately I found out, that I cannot unlock it. The gingerbreak is not working here, and when I wanted to pay for the unlock code (cellunlocker), they told me that the phone is not in their database yet.
Sgs2 has 1 gig of memory ...I would think it would be a gingerbread issue...because the os is super memory intensive

I think that the state of the most recent GB builds with all the added features our biggest problem is lack of ram. Any upgrade at this point from the Vibrant would require 1GB of ram IMO.

Must. Root.
Love my Exhibit 4g and I'm also looking for rooting information. Haven't found anything yet but if anyone has any news on the subject, please post it here as soon as you can.
It would be awesome if some devs were to pick up this device. My brother just recently picked one up and I'd love to be able to root it for him.
I came across a TMobile Exhibit that I thought was a regular Exhibit 4G that was just released.
From what I know the Exhibit 4G is supposed to come with gingerbread and when you boot it up it has the Exhibit 4G splash screen. Also comes in black or violet,
This one I have here is pearl White with a black racing stripe down the back. Also has something that looks like the Mini Cooper wing emblem around the back camera. In the about phone it has Model Number SGH-T759, firmware 2.2.1 and Build Number FROYO.UVKA2. When I boot it, the splash screen just says Exhibit and after has the Galaxy S splash screen.
I've looked everywhere on information on the device and have come up with nothing. Nothing on google nothing at the TMobile stores.
Anyone know anything about this device?
Thanks

Weird. Mines the black tmobile one with the following info:
SGH-T759
Firmware version 2.3.3
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.UVKE8
The one you are talking about appears to be different. The firmware isn't even the same...
Where did you see/find it?
Was brought to me by a friend. He found it and its a little beat. Cracked screen etc.
Its really weird. I'll take a screen shot of the about phone.
Its clearly running a build of froyo and it has a model number SGH-T759 and software 2.2.1
Also a weird thing is the case. Its pearl white with like a racing stripe down the back with Samsung and like i posted a wing emblem around the camera.
Looks like a mini cooper design.
Yeah been looking all over and nothing. So im curious to find out what exactly is this phone.
I tried calling the number on the sim but it was not inservice. Even went to t-mobile store. They were like we don't have that model.
I rooted it to see if i can get into it and see if i can find anything. And so far nothing.

That my friend, is weird. Not such model should exist that I know of. It almost looks like a proto-type promotional kind of thing.
My boot up has something different, with EXHIBIT and some smaller type about it being from T-mobile, etc. No Galaxy S stuff appears at all.
Yeah,
I was thinking as much. I'm thinking it could have been a prototype or maybe the Exhibit was supposed to be released as a regular handset, then was scrapped for Exhibit 4G.
This could be a Gizmodo iPhone 4 situation but after the fact. LOL
Just wanted more info on it.
Also the Galaxy S splash screen really threw me off.
Well, the exhibit essentially is a Galaxy s with different features, etc. In a nutshell it's a modified Galaxy S so this would point to this phone being a prototype that got lost, etc. Does it have 4g capabilities?
That makes a lot of sense.
Wonder if any of the ROMS for Galaxy S would work.
Would love to update this thing to Gingerbread, can't even find the stock Exhibit 4G roms to use.
Also can't even find glass to replace the cracked one.
Probably tell my friend to just hang on to it for a bit and I'm sure there will be more development for it.
Thanks
I find it exciting that an Exhibit 4G prototype somehow managed to get lost and photos turn up here. The Exhibit 4G is a nice device. The fact that it's essentially a modified Galaxy S (on a slight budget) was part of the reason I decided to pick up the phone for my first Android device.
Hopefully we will see some development for it very soon. I was hoping GingerBreak would be a success, but it hasn't yet. I'm definitely planning on donating as more developments come along.
So this is what tmobile has been spending it's resources on...
Woah, dude, you seriously gotta unleash this thing into the wild. I think your friend may have stumbled across a rare gem here... maybe.

If SGS3 came to TMobile, how would you support your argument?

I'm waiting to see what Samsung has to offer, I'm not due for a new phone until June anyway.

Exactly the same situation here. If Samsungs new device sucks then its definately gotta be the S. Just hoping that the Galaxy's screen isnt as big as the One X's one. It's just too much... :what:

Well, even though it has it critics, and I do go through periods of using AOSP (and prob will on the S once it's available and stable) I still think Sense is the best custom UI on Android. Simple really, SGS3 can't match that element

Supposedly its going to have a 1080p screen, to me this is a bad thing.
1) I bet it is bigger than the ONE S and I wasn't quite happy with the size of the ONE X
2) It takes more horse power to run it, so its processor and graphics may be higher but side by side performance will probably be similar due to it having to push more pixels about the place. Also.. 1080p.. on a phone... What's the F'in point??
First i'm 100% sure that Galaxy S III won't have 2gb of ram neither 1080p screen. Its a next generation and since theres obvious settlement betwen manufacturers you can expect same specs as One X. And i'm also pretty sure that it won't have SD card, every manufacturer stops using them, why should they use them, about removable battery i'm not sure, if new galaxy is gonna be thinner then i guess it will have non removable battery.
I think the S3 will have 4.7 screen, so its big, also display will be as good as X. About other specs - I suspect quad core processor, some good graphic component, rumors about 12mp camera.
But anyway, there are only rumors atm, and Im not fan of S2, so I will go for One S as soon as it avaible here

but on 3rd may we might get some new infos (... no rumours)
however a display bigger than 4,6" is much to big for my taste...
if thats going to happen, i probably will get myself a ONE S
If it takes T-mobile US as long as it did to get the Galaxy S 2....i'm not waiting.
But then again, i don't want to wait. Im tired of Samsung's plastic devices, ugly touch wiz, and international Galaxy S3 will be different from the US Galaxy S3, which will hinder dev support.
Im sure the one s will have great dev support like the sensation. Every one S around the world will be the exact same and will run the same roms.
The only thing i was hating about htc phones was the bad slcd screen, so happy theres amoled now, and i dont care if its pentile.

There is a rumor tht the one x is coming to Tmo with stock ics. I know the gs3 will be beast but I hate touchwiz and love sense. I had a mt4gs and now have a sg2 and touchwiz kills it. There is no stock ics that's working well, and no sense .: /. I want the One s or the One x one tmobile, but would get the gs3 if there is a stock ics rom

Samsung gps
I am ready to upgrade from my Vibrant. I like my Samsung but the GPS is crap. I'm not sure I would trust a Samsung gps. I keep waiting for the gps to run me over a cliff. Is any Samsung gps as good as HTC?
nothing compares to HTC GPS. I can get a lock in under 15 seconds. no tweaks.
i never lose the satellite. Its found me home many times
kinda yes, I really like GS2 and SAMOLED Plus is great. But we still don't know if GS3 will be SAMOLED HD or SAMOLED HD Plus. It's most likely be the same size as One X, packing same or better CPU, probably same or better quality camera, and most likely missing things like notification light and noise canceling mic.
Already got one s and prefer HTC build

Same boat as @tf442. I have a "first month out" Vibrant and GPS has been abysmal from the get-go. I have flashed at least a dozen ROMS (probably more)from Bionix, Trigger all the way to ICS 4.0.4 and they vary, but still no where near other manufacturers GPS. I will not give $$$ to Samsung since they went on the pine in acknowledging any issues with GPS. That, and quit with FROYO. Not good for a top-end phone at the time.
I am eligible for upgrade now, but I don't think I am going to. I might wait out until mid to end-year to upgrade. I am pretty satisfied with my G2 still. Everyone swears it's a great backup phone, but I like it as my main phone all the same.

Upgrade Nov 1st

Just looking for some insight on phones coming out. I love my nexus s 4g. The gs3 sounds good.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda app-developers app
From all the phones I've used, I liked the Galaxy Nexus most (although I do prefer the Nexus S for being able to use UMS transfer mode, having higher sound quality and not having an oversized screen).
Selling my Nexus and buying the S3 was one of the decision I regretted due to:
-not getting fast updates and variates of stock roms like the Nexus
-poor built quality, even comparing to the Galaxy Nexus
-the stock Jelly Bean on the Nexus was a better and smoother experience for me than Touchwiz on a quadcore processor.
Seems like you are on Sprint, I heard the CDMA version of Galaxy Nexus have very poor radio so skip that, not to mention they always get updates a few months later than the GSM version. But if you do plan to get another Samsung phone, such as a CMDA S3, ask in their forum first if they have any signal issues.
So maybe the S3 is your best choice if you don't mind the built quality. The renamed HTC One X for Sprint may be a good choice, but honestly I am used to how open and easy it is to root and unlock Samsung phones, I can't deal with HTC and Sense, but I know I'm biased.
Rumor is Google will announce the new LG Nexus the end of October, but I guess its too late by then and the CDMA version if available would probably be till next year anyway. The LG Optimus G is supposed to have excellent built quality. Sprint will be selling it, it's basically a flagship device, the the Qualcomm S4 Pro chip is supposed to be super fast, they'll be a 13MP camera (for Sprint model, AT&T is 8MP), 32gb of storage, 2GB ram, etc. It seems like people like to slate the LG brand, but on paper it looks like a very compelling device.
Or maybe its time to move to GSM network where there are more choices to choose from. I'm looking to move away from Samsung too since their built quality of recent phones has really turn me off. I wouldn't blame you if you get an iPhone5 and resell it to get an Android phone and some profit in the process.

This. my next phone will be on a gsm network and will not be purchased from a carrier. I'm tired of my phone being held prisoner. And the part about the CDMA updates is true. Sprint got both ICS and JB several months after t-mo. If you want early updates, this is the carrier to have a subsidized. They get push notifications as soon as google pushes the source to AOSP. Personally I'd still rather buy it from google directly, but there's nothing wrong with a t-mo subsidized device either. The updates will come at the same time.
You can check the review for the LG Optimus G by mobiletechreview on youtube. But it seems the Sprint version won't be available until nov 11th, but preorder open at nov 1st. The ATT version seems better though due to having microsd slot and from experience ATT have faster network and faster LTE too. The Sprint version has 13mp camera though.
If you are used to the Nexus S substantial dev support (after all these freakin' years!) then the only natural path is really the Galaxy Nexus. Even the support for the SII has slowed down. I suspect it will be the same with the S3. I cannot stand mfg overlays like TW or Sense.
Can you hold onto your NS and wait to see what the new Nexus is all about?
I'm waiting for the next Nexus phone -since it should be right around the corner. If it wasn't for that though, I'd be looking at the GSIII, Razr Maxx, or G Nex.

im waiting for LG Nexus 4
LG Nexus 4 is coming 29 oct wait for it , 12 mp camera , 3100 m battery same sg3 display size ,but display is made by lg that made iphone 5 display http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCTx4n2UquI
Xiaomi mi-2 has better hardware than the s3! But you'll have to check if you can get it in the us and if its released at all! xD
I just read about it, dont know to much! Just wanted to help to expand the horizon!
Thanks for your input. But I'll just get the iPhone 5.....
Hahaha kidding
Thinking the lg nexus is sounding good.

Wait for the LGnex...
Nexus S (GSM i9020a)
Paranoid Android (2.2.2 - 4.1.2)
Marmite Kernel (5.0 - Bedalus)
Ondemmand (Screen On) (800/100)
Ondemmand (Screen Off) (400/100)
Deep Idle (N/A - CFQ)
BLX (98 - Inverted Apps)
Black Exodus (Stock Voltage)
No doubt that nexus family will continue a tradition with a excelent quality new device.
However my biggest disappointment of nowadays phone development companies is a price of our beloved engineering jewels. Any thoughts. How mutch it will cost? I'm a big enthusiast of high end smartphones but personally not ready to sacrifice my halfmonth salary.

Huawei Ascend D Quad XL looks interesting .. similar to stock android, with a few cool addons. 3D home looks smooth too. Not sure how quick their support will be in terms of ota upgrades. If they can guarantee that, I'm sold..

Seemed more like a question to me, so moved to Q&A.
Lg makes great phones. Loved lg! Hate Samsung though. I'm going for either the photon Q(its a monster) or this new nexus. I juuust got my nexus from a friend.... had a Samsung transform. Horrible hardware, phone was verry verrry durable though. Masks sure you test it out before and make sure it doesn't randomly brick like most of today's hardware

You should use more high end Samsung devices beside writing them off, the transform is a very old and low end phone on cdma network. Trying to compare it to the Photon Q is like comparing a Ford Tempo to a Ferrari.
I got it when it was new, actually decent. Ask anyone and they will tell you that the s3 is plasticity. The s2 had a tendency to randomly brick because of the emmc freaking out, that's just to name a few. I wouldn't mind an s3, just saying the quality of Samsung has gone away. And if at all possible I'm going to avoid them, bad, no, horrible track record.

sorry for stealing the scene... i'm going to change my Nexus S in the next few weeks and i narrowed down the list of my wishes to the following 3 phones:
- Gnexus: would have to buy it used around the 300$ mark / will combine with a 2 years contract around 30$+
- Gnote: would buy it for 50$ on 2 years contract (30$)
- HTC One X: would get it for free on 2 years contract (30$)
What would you suggest me? i'm a Flash Addict fallen in love with paranoidandroid and JB and ATM my heart points toward the Gnote
