Being a noob and all, I was able to successfully root my galaxy s2 skyrocket using odin and also successfully flash this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377087
on to my phone without a single problem. However, I am lost now.. The top of the phone where it usually displays the att icon, notifications, wifi, and cell signal is not showing. All I am able to see is the battery icon at the top right corner. When I boot up my phone it says "No Service" however I am getting service (able to make calls, text, go on the web, etc..) Not sure what the problem is or what I could've possibly done wrong.
Btw, I used this guide to flash the ROM
http://www.traemcneely.com/2011/12/27/install-custom-rom-at-ciq-removed-short-review-instructions/
(I made sure I followed all the steps very carefully)
This is the "status" of my phone if it matters:
Network: AT&T
Mobile Network type: LTE
Service state: In service
Roaming: Not roaming (??)
Mobile network state: Disconnected (??)
Please help!!
Thanks!

I purchased the Sidekick 4G from a Pawn Shop recently and immediately started tinkering; rooted, changed roms, so on.
In the haste of all of this it never dawned on me to put my sim card in, long story short when I turn the phone on with the SIM in it takes unusually long to connect and when it does it rings twice when a call is made and disconnects. When connected through WIFI calling though it works flawlessly.
While using the Smooth Maximus ROM GingerClone it would not connect at all so I commenced to changing the Mobile Network settings to GSM only and it worked through Edge perfectly.
I went back to stock (KD1 and KG2) and the results are that it will take about 2 to 3 minutes to show a connection to the network and then the full bars/4g symbol will appear but I cannot connect to the internet nor can I make a phone call.
My question is, after this long explanation sorry, is what is it that I'm doing wrong? Or is it the phone that has a malfunction I am not aware of?
Any help is highly appreciated and sorry in advance if this is in the wrong place or if this question/scenario has been posed.

You probably need to manually configure your APNs under Wireless & Networking for your carrier. Without knowing your carrier, that's the most complete advice I can offer. Googling APN and your carrier name should give you all the info you need

Try calling up tmobile you probably don't have there 4G plan, w/o it you'd only be getting edge speeds. I experienced this coming from a windows mobile fone when I switched to a G2 I wasn't getting 4G you might even need a 4G sim. It could be a number of issues. . .
I had to switch my sim card I had a razor before this lol I know but I was having loss of service ect... switched sim and bam there it was great service!

I have the same problem. My Sidekick 4G works flawlessly except it cannot connect to T-Mobile network. When using wifi, everything works (wifi calls, text, receiving calls, etc). When calling via T-Mobile network, it shows dialing, then just goes out of the phone screen. I cannot get data nor text messaging either when trying to use T-Mobile network.
I have reset the user setting and even flashed back to a clean KG2 firmware. Neither has helped. Also, tried multiple SIM cards all with the same problem.
Any one with any tips?
I had that problem when I first flashed some ROM.
Setting>Wireless and Network>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names
From here press the Menu button and select "Reset to Default"

So I bricked my Showcase, on the Cellular South/C Spire network. I sent it to Samsung and they replaced the PBA? Anyway, I took it to my service provider to get it activated, but apparently when Samsung fixed it they put the newest software on it 2.3.4 which was fine with me, but cellular south was unable to activate the phone. There was a blue circle with a line through it where the service bars should be.
I brought it home and these are the files that i flashed:
atlas_v2.2.2.pit
EE25_fullOdin.tar.md5 &
eh09_modem_uscc.tar.md5, because with just the other two it said it was in airplane mode when it wasn't.
So with these added I dial *#1234# and get this:
PDA: SCH-I500USEE25
PHONE: S:i500.04 K.EH09
CSC: Unknown
Build Info: 2011.05
Also, under about phone>status the Network says: searching for SVC, and the Mobile Network Type is: unknown, with the Mobile Network State: disconnected.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
I'm not sure how to correct your issue, but it's no surprise that CS couldn't correct your issue. Have you tried to contact Samsung?
When you pushed Files with odin, did you use the phone efs clear option? You should. That fixed it for me

When you use the Phone EFS Clear option what exactly does it do? I've got a Showcase and it's from an Alaskan carrier and I'm afraid if I used the EFS clear option it's going to mess everything up.

Why would you flash a Cellular South ODIN to a Showcase for another carrier?
...Lets use our heads.
In a desperate attempt to have a working phone... That's why.
I too bricked my Showcase, sent it to Samsung, they sent it back w/ 2.3.5 loaded. We got it connected to CSpire's network, however, no data could be sent. You can send and receive calls/texts, but no internet connectivity at all. I downgraded it through Odin w/ the rooted version of CS's GB EH09... it was stuck in boot loop... Then I did a factory reset through recovery mode, boom, GB loads up just fine. We take it to CS, it still won't accept a data signal, but it'll accept a cell signal. I'm at a loss at this point. Any ideas?
Have you dialed *228?

Last week I stopped being able to use the internet, marketplace and streaming service on my Galaxy S 4g unless I'm on wi-fi. Today I realized it appears as if I'm no longer getting edge, 3g or 4g service. I have bars, but nothing next to it telling me what network I'm on.
My phone is rooted to stock with bloat removed and has been for months. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Try toggling airplane mode. Might help to remove your SIM card & ensure the contacts are clean then reseat it.

I'm having the same issue after moving CM7 => MIUI.
I've moved back to stock ROM XXJVT, but still not able to connect to 2G/3G. Anyone help.....
Btw, I'm sure the APN settings are correct and packet data is checked.

try taking the battery out for 10min
I guess I figured it out. But it doesn't seem very logical, but hey it works.
I changed the url of my provider from "live.vodafone.com" to "live .vodafone.com" (watch the space between live and .vodafone) and all of a sudden E/G/H appeared in the status bar.
Still, double check the APN settings, make sure everything is entered in right (proxy, username, authentication type, etc). Were you able to send pictures still? You need to make sure it's not a hardware problem.
Okay so I bought this US Cellular S3 from eBay and the phone had network signal when I first got it. Then I thought playing with the Hidden Menu and try to make it work with GSM but all I got is problem. I lost the network signal on my R530U... I have tried flashing couple of stock ROMs but no luck so far. I can see my phone number in Settings > About menu but the network says disconnected.
Please help!

It's hard to help when there aren't many people here with that carrier. It would be much better to go here http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/forum/284-galaxy-s-iii-development/

I made the mistake of messing around with the Hidden Menu on my old Samsung Fascinate and it lost data signal. Basically, you may have cleared out some technical string of code related to network authentication ...some ID or something (i don't know) Once its cleared out...no way to reprogram it...far as I was told...had to get it replaced....every phone is different.
Hello everyone. I was hoping that some of you that are more knowledgeable about this stuff could help me out here. I recently flashed from CM 10.2 to KitKat (4.4.4), which everything went smoothly for the most part. However, I've noticed that my phone constantly has no service. I should probably state that I live in an area with very low service to begin with, but prior to the flash I was able to get at least a bar inside my house. Now, I'm unable to get anything.
The first thing I could think of to check was my settings in the phone. The data is enabled, CDMA Roaming mode is set to automatic, CDMA subscription is set to RUIM / SIM, and the Preferred Network Type was Global. I wasn't familiar with the global setting as I was used to seeing the LTE / CDMA / EvDo options there. So, when I clicked on it, it now gives LTE, 3g, 2g, 1x, and Global as options. I tried changing it to 3g, but the changes would not save that way. The only way I could get them to save was to power off the phone, take the sim card out and put it back in, and then reboot and switch them. Once i pick a new setting (which is now set on 3g), it locks it and I can't change it again without removing sim card.
When I look in About Phone > Status section, I'm seeing the network says searching for service. The mobile network type is unknown. The service state is out of service, and the mobile network state is disconnected.
Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? If so, I would truly appreciate any type of guidance you guys or gals could give me. Thanks!
I didn't read your entire post but myself and several others have reported signal issues after 4.4.4 flashes on all different ROM types. I think 4.4.4 is just picky about what firmware and baseband you're running. I flashed a few different RPM packages too but in the end I got lucky flashing the BLK3 modem and it seemed to fix my issues. I had noticeably poor signal strength most of the time and a couple times I would look down at my phone and I'd have no signal at all.
Maybe a dev or expert can shed some light on the root of the issue. I don't know enough about under the hood stuff to make an expert diagnosis.
Edit: The unanimous fix that everyone appears to agree on is to flash the MF1 AIO (all in one) package and then flash the ML1 modem only. Problem is finding a legit source for the MF1 aio package seems to be up in the air.
Like I said though, I didn't even do this. I was just trying all kinds of combinations of modems/aio's/ and rpm's and I got lucky. 2 days now with a solid signal at all times. LTE speeds are blazing too, 45 down and 10 up.
Check ur imei number. Or flash a backup and see if that fixes ur problem.
