Hi! I've got a sticky situation here, my g3 is in a bootloop, not the normal bootloop, i'm in a "yup, you're f***ed" situation. Lets start here shall we?
The condition of my phone currently:
Volume buttons broken (not able to get into recovery/download mode)
Stuck at "GT-I5800" logo
Adb says no device connected (not being able to get into recovery/download mode, AGAIN)
Maybe i'm too ambitious but can my device be saved?
I think it's time to replace your phone if half the buttons are broken :|

I've visited a friend that repairs phones, he says it's no use to try fix the volume keys, they are broken from the mainboard.

I am completely stumped. My wife's phone quit working today. It won't turn off without pulling the battery, if the screen times out you can't turn it back on without plugging it in.
I did a factory reset, same problem. I was going to try to root it and install a new ROM and kernel, but when I boot into fastboot the phone is not recognized on my computer (fastboot devices doesn't list anything) and the volume buttons are not responsive at all in the fastboot menu. I plugged my phone into the computer (another nexus s) and it is listed when I type fastboot devices so it is the phone, not a driver problem, etc.
I am out of ideas here. I have essentially a bricked stock Nexus S and a working CM7 Nexus S. Is there anything I can do or is this an issue I have to deal with samsung warranty?
Gonna have to put it in "download mode"(HOLD both volume buttons and PRESS power button)
Then.....
If its a Sprint CDMA version use SWUpdater: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1072698
If its a gsm, use odin and the correct firmware for your model

Also I have tried to get into download mode, but can't.

I do to. At least my daughter doesn't need a phone (she is only 9) so my wife can use her MT4G for a few days until we get a replacement NS. Just hope it doesn't turn into a bigger hastle than it needs to be.

Just came off a semi-hard brick...do you know what you did wrong? I accidentally flashed odin on some bad drivers and lost dl mode...you're not totally lost as long as you still have dl mode. Make sure you have the right drivers and give heimdall one click a shot...good luck
Thats the thing the owner dosen't no what he did he gave it to me so that I tried to get it working but those are the symptoms I see and I install the correct driver from the developer section. All I know it keeps rebooting on Samsung logo and if a place the jig it reboot on download mode. Thank for your help

did you try odin too? it might pick it up...
Its REALLY hard to brick and Infuse actually, MAYBE (and im not saying thats happening but it happened to me for a while in earlier days) you are doing the download mode aka 2 button mode wrong by trying the 3 buttong mode.
Theres 2 drivers that can be used to install roms on Infuse, the heimdall drivers or the "odin" drivers
*The Odin drivers are obtained easily by Installing Samsung kies.
**The heimdall drivers are obtained by heimdall (lol)
Download mode for Odin:
-Be sure you havent installed the Heimdall Drivers as they commonly override the Odin ones.
-- ONLY If you have installed the Heimdall drivers just go into control panel, hardware and sound, devicesand printers, look for the samsung usb and revert the drivers to previous.
1.-Remove battery
2.-Connect the Infuse to PC by the usb cable WITHOUT putting back the battery or holding any buttons yet.
3.-Hold vol up and vol down.
4.- ONLY after removing the battery and having the Infuse connected to usb cable and pressing vol up and down THEN introduce battery without pressing power button or anything.
It will power alone and enter download mode.
Then open Odin and flash the stock rom or any you like.
IF you are doing it right then I apologize for being repetitive on something apparently easy and i hope someone with more expertise than me can help you man.
Good luck and i wish you the best for your problem solution.
The following has always worked for me:
1) Pull and reinsert battery
2) Hold VolUp + VolDn, DO NOT PRESS POWER
3) Insert USB cable while holding VolUp + VolDn
This should take you into download mode
Yes I had tried everything am going to post a video so see if you guys fugue it out

I have the same problem that the friend above... Do you guys think that changing the housing will fix the problem? if so, can you refer me a link in ebay where I can buy the full housing? thanks!
Hi there.
My friend tried to flash a i9100 image to his i727 (Samsung Skyrocket on Rogers). It froze during the right. Now when I try to boot it or do anything, it is totally unresponsive and the screen is completely black. Shows up as a yellow exclamation mark in USBView.exe. I have tried every button combination I know to set it into download mode, pulled the battery, plugged and replugged the USB cable. But it's still black and nothing shows up in Odin.
Just want to know if there's anything else I can do, and if anyone knows about JTAG procedures for this phone. Thanks
It's a hard brick. If you check out vincom's stickies, I believe one of them has information on a guy who'll JTAG it for $50. Alternatively, if your friend's still within a year of purchase, you could just warranty the thing out to Sammy. If it won't turn on, they'll probably never be able to see that it was rooted/custom firmware/etc.

Thanks for the quick response. How do you know its a hard brick?
My friend is considering buying the GS4 but the release date is 5 months from now, so its either fix this or replace it.
Rather than shipping it to the USA and back from Canada, could I possibly JTAG it myself? I have flashed Xbox 360 and modem chips before.
I'm guessing cell phone repair shops generally do not handle JTAG issues.
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
I've been using my HTC Sensation for more than a year, but since monday I can't get it to work.
When I turn it on, a grey screen appears instantly and I can't do anything on the phone (see picture)
I was using CM 10.1 rom for a long time without any problem
Is that a software issue or a hardware issue ? I'm scared my phone had died...
can you enter recovery? "hold down power plus volume down" at the same time
I've tried many times but no, I can't enter recovery...

No bootloader... I absolutely have no screen and image
After I went to a repair store, they told me that the screen is broken.
They ask me 120€ (160$) to change it. Is it possible to buy a screen on internet and change it by myself ? (knowing that I never repaired a phone before and have absolutely no knowledge in doing it)
Can anybody answer me please ?...

Does it go into bootloader or recovery? If no try LG flashtool and if that doesn't work. You bricked it
I'm not sure if I did that right. I installed the driver + the Tool .. hold down volume up + plug cable in = nothing happens.
Can't boot into recovery either. Nothing happens.
Oh man I'm an Idiot
Is there any way to get to the data? Even if it's opening the device?

Hold down power + vol down button for about 30 seconds and see if the bootloader shows up? if not, you can try accessing the secondary bootloader by holding Power + Vol Up and Down simultaneously..

How can I .zip completely broke the recovery etc.? Isn't that supposed to be "unbreakable"? I did this mistake on another phone before (You would think I learned...) and I was able to unbrick it. But on a nexus it is impossible? :/

Flashing stuff meant for other devices can brick your device permanently due to partitioning being different. You'll have to RMA, sorry. What ROM did you flash?

1. Other phones have kernels with different voltages that can fry the insides.
2. Other phones use different partition numbers. The script may flash flash a kernel to the bootloader - bye bye phone
3. a brick is a brick. You cannot unbrick. If you "unbricked" something, then it wasn't bricked.

This. When they find out its your fault, they charge you for a new phone. If you send to LG they will hopefully just quote you for repair of existing phone.

I had something similar...
keep your phone plugged....but use its charger, no other version...and keep press power for 60/90 seconds...
Hm I tried but it doesn't work.
Do they even test the phones? I did an RMA once and they said if they see a broken display or anthing they let me know and send it back to me + I send the new phone back to them again. Would they really charge me?

Here's the deal. RMA to Google is for manufacturing defects ONLY. When you RMA, Google freeze the cost of the phone in your account. When they find out its not a defect, they will take that money. Sending a phone to Google, knowing its your fault, hoping to get it replaced for free is fraud.
Sending to LG shows you are willing to pay for the repair. LG will repair manufacturing defect for free. They should charge you to repair user error. Sending a phone to LG, knowing its your fault, hoping to get it repaired for free is fraud.
Here is my advice. Send it to LG. Tell them what you did. Ask them for a price to repair.
