[GUIDE] Manbearpig's guide to a smooth ride with your O3D - LG Optimus 3D

So i have taken alot from this community, as in information. I've asked alot of questions and used alot of peoples help and software so i thought it was time to give back to the community and since i have no knowledge of coding(gonna self teach from google/youtube) i decided to make a guide for people new to the O3D or just someone who hasn't figured the potential of there O3D.
*Note*:
These are my preferences so if you don't like it don't add it please don't complain*
If you are having issues with a particular part you can request help on this thread but you should find the thread about what your having issues with first and ask there(i will link all my sources in this post)*
Got something to add? post it here on this thread or send me a pm with details and i can add it to the guide*
*This guide assumes you have a phone running on gingerbread
MANBEARPIG'S Guide To A Joyful Time With Your LG optimus 3D(p920)
1.Rooting your phone
**** Rooting your phone can brick phone if your are careless****
*The most easy way to root your phone is by downloading the file here: http://vulnfactory.org/blog/2012/02/26/rooting-the-lg-thrill-optimus-3d/
***Unfortunately i dont know of a way to root your phone if your using a mac so i can't help you there***
*Now once you have downloaded the file extract it (using winrar or a similar program) to the destination of your choice and open the folder called: "megatron_windows" now make sure your phone is connected via usb and mass storage is turned off. Now run the application called "adb" it should be done within a few seconds.
*after you've installed adb click on the windows batch file

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
now hit ANY key and wait a few minutes and voila your phone is now rooted
*****if you are having trouble users have reported that having to many maps installed stops the root process working*********
Now for those who don't know what rooting is, it is basically needed for everything i will be doing,But in short it just allows the user to have full access of their phone.
2.Roms & Kernels
*This is probably the biggest customization of your phone and if you follow these steps you will have no problems. Roms & kernels are basically someone else's version of android software eg. they can change what the notifiaction bar looks like and port over other phones UI.*Note a rom and kernel are two different things a good description can be found here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=ROM-VS-Kernel
*okay so step one is installing Rom Manager it is a needed tool and you can download the free version off the play store(no need to buy premium as everything needed to be done can be done on the free app).now once you have installed this app and you open it you will see a menu click on "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery:
Now towards the end of the download a littlebox will pop up asking for superuser access(this is asking root access so it can edit files within your phone) tick remember and click allow
****Ok so some users are saying that flashing it using rom manager doesn't work for them so i would suggest using this(i dont want to put it all here as it is not my work): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1482713
ok so now we have rom manager organized we will do a backup in case anything goes wrong. your will find this option on the main menu on the tab called backup current rom(this is in case anything goes wrong during the proccess of installing a new rom you can go back to your backup) if you have an external sd card in your phone you can go in settings and change it so when you backup your rom it saves on your external sd card.now click backup rom and your phone sohuld shut off and turn back on entering 'recovery mode' it should then automatically start backing up all your stuff once it is done, using the volume keys to go up and down and the search button to click it, click on 'reboot phone'.
*Ok now you have backed up your stuff you are ready to install roms and kernels.
Everyone has there own preferences so im going to link some roms here each have there own features i preferably like to keep it stock but a lot more faster and less lg and Google stuff.
check out these links and download the file you want or files if you want to try a few out.(i will get to kernels after roms).
***when downloading roms you will need the right rom depending on your software version, you can find this under settings/about phone and look under software version and look at the letter and number combo eg. V20e or v21D and then download a matching rom to your software version.
Some Roms:
Meemo's Roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569029
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570937(my favourite)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554922
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1571251
Pandaball's modded cyanogenmod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595639
Thiaiz Roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264023
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520673
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462991
Kamfbestie's roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441506
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605213
so there is some roms, i have not included every single one but here is a few be sure to check out the O3D android development section to find other roms not listed, also please thank all the developers if you liked their roms and if you loved their rom donate to them they out a lot of effort into it.
*Okay now to installing the rom:
open up rom manager and hit install rom form sdcard and fin the place you downloaded your rom (dont unzip the file the rom came in) and click on it.
it will then give you three things oyu can choose, click: wipre data and cache and wipe dalvik cache also click backup existing rom if you havn't dont so already.
*after you hit ok your phone should enter recovery and should automatically start wiping the data and installing the rom, once its done hit reboot phone.
if your phone gets stuck on lg logo or doesn't reboot it means that either the installation failed or something in the rom's zip is missing or could be some kind of incompatibility, if this happens you can turn off your phone then hold the volume down button + power button till the lg logo shows then your phone will enter recovery and you can restore your backup.I cannot help you with any issues faced to do with incompatibility.
ok so once your phone has rebooted depending on what romm you downloaded you might not notice any changes straight away although later down the path you might notice some changes in speed and ram etc.
Installing Kernels
*kernels differ from roms as they provide performance tweaks such as overclocking the processor or gpu and can be applied on top of compatible roms.NOTElease check the rom you installed is compatible with different kernels.
There is not many kernels to choose from as many roms have kernels installed with them but here is the most popular kernel:
Samno's kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547319
**NOTE:if you have decided to use meemos DNA rom and you have v20e software like me so you downloaded his RTL(right to left) version it says that it is incompatible with other kernels, but i have managed to run samnos titan kernel for V21d just fine on it**
*installing the kernel:
installing the kernel is exactly the same as a rom except when you choose to install rom form sdcard and you click on it dont click wipe data or dalvik cache but you should backup your rom just in case of any incompatibilities.
OverClocking Guide
*This is not my work, i do not know who originally found this i am just writing down the information people have shared with me,sorry if there is already a guide about it,it just seems lost as its not on the first few pages and lots of people are asking about it.*
Before we begin make sure you have a kernel that supports overclocking modules,i use titan kernel as it is a stable and fast kernel.
*also make sure your phone is rooted*
Download the file here:
http://db.tt/ApM2BzbV
Now using a root file explorer/manager take out the files symsearch.ko and opperator.ko and place them at /system/lib/modules
Now to overclock you use a terminal emulator and type: (this is an example to overclock at 1.3ghz change the 3 to a 4 for 1.4ghz
su
echo 1300000000 > /proc/opperator
And now your phone should be opperating at 1.3ghz
*after every reboot to overclock it again you must type this again*
A simple app is available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592110
Which does all the code in a nice GUI
3.Some kool apps to download
WARNING:Some apps may be illegal in your country
Wifikill
Wifikill is a pretty neat app it lets you control the wifi network your in and turn off any devices wifi connected to the network your connected to
"please use this app responsibly i mean i use it on my friends iphones and stuff, just please don't go screwing around with someone else's WiFi without their permission Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?4a361cgp7l34buy
Ttorrent
this is a torrent client for android so you can download any torrent file straight to your phone, this can be found on the play store.

(cost $10) but a lit version is available on the play store called ANTIlite. remember with great power comes great responsibility
This is my first attempt at forming this guide more stuff will be added please post below how useful this was and what i sohuld add and if this helped you please thank
NOTE:working on a way to bring your own linux operating system running side by side android just having troubles with it and in contact with the developer also ill be posting up some kool games and more apps so please post your suggestions down in the comments

For rooting your phone, there's no need to "install" ADB since it's not an installable package. You can just execute run.bat straightaway without double clicking ADB. You'll need the ADB drivers for your phone before executing run.bat, and you'll also need to enable debugging on your phone (settings > applications > development > USB debugging)
Also, for flashing CWM, I highly recommend not using ROM Manager as it sometimes recognises the P920 as the Optimus 2x which is not compatible with the P920. If someone flashes the Optimus 2x recovery on a P920, bad things will happen. I would suggest using this to flash instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1482713

Yes many people bricked their O3Ds by flashing recovery through ROM Manager (especially the previous version).
Much safer way is to flash recovery with the tool pandaball suggested or with two other tools that can flash any recovery (CWM, CWM Touch, Stock) you want.
A command line tool:

A GUI tool:

yes i would not use rom manager on this phone ive helped to many ppl fix there 3d because they flashed cwm or a rom with rom manager
there is a windows file to flash cwm touch or normal cwm in the dev thread

Thank you! I was going crazy with ****ing SuperOneClick that didnt work, but this one worked the first time, THANKS!

I suggest you to insert a guide related to Unroot
Sgnao

Any links to baseband files to use with LG Flash tool?
edit:
P920
V21E baseband
V18A baseband
P920 DLL file
P925:
V10E baseband
V20C baseband
V20P baseband
P925 DLL file

You could add one detail to the rooting part of the guide, if you have to many apps installed megatron will fail.
It took me way to long to figure that out after flashing V21E kdz, a factory reset solved that but I hesitated because with no root titanium backup would be useless.

Thks for the guides;
rooted > CWM-Recovery-Touch setup > flashed with custom rom without any hassle
there was a small hiccup tho' due to my ignorance ... was not able to boot into recovery mode (holding "Power" + "VolDown" + "3D" keys always causing shutoff). After a few tries, found out that i should hv release the "power" key right after boot-up or else will trigger shutdown, stupid me

Samsung Made The Skyrocket Very Easy To Flash Custom Roms And/or Root The Phone.
There Is No Bootloader To Unlock.
The Skyrocket Has Four Main Partitions > Recovery - Radio - Kernel - System.
All Custom Roms Only Have The Kernel And The System , Which I/We Refer To As "The Rom".
No Custom Roms Include The Recovery And/or Radio Other Than Full Stock Firmwares.
The Recovery Is A Seperate Standalone File/partition And As Such It Is Not Tied/linked/combined To The Rom And/or Kernel.
Odin Is A Windows Program For Installing Stock Firmwares And Recoveries Onto Samsung Phones But We Can Use It To Install A "Custom" Recovery.
The First And Foremost Thing You Need To Do To Your Skyrocket Is To Replace The Stock Recovery Called "3e" With A Custom Recovery Called "TWRP" To Be Installed With The Program Called "Odin", Its Easy And Takes Less Than One Minute.
After Installing The TWRP Custom Recovery With Odin Your Phone Will Bootup To Exactly What You Had Before - It Does Not Touch The Android Operating System On Either Stock Firmwares Or Custom Roms, All Your Stuff Will Be Untouched, Unless You Boot Into Recovery You Would Never Know That You Had Installed It.
Once A Custom Recovery Is Installed You Can Then Install Other Custom Recoveries, Root The Phone, Flash Custom Roms, Kernels, Radios/modems, Bootanimations, Apps Or Any Other Flashable Zip File That You Find Here In The Skyrocket Xda Forum
Using Odin is Not Required Or Needed Anymore Unless You Reinstalled Stock Recovery Via Flashing Full Stock Firmware Or The Standalone Stock Recovery.
Links To The Recovery Zip Files Are In The 1stop Sticky
To Install Custom Roms On Stock Phones w/twrp installed You do Not Need To Root The Phone, Just Follow The Devs Instructions In Their Op On Installing The Custom Rom.
Root Is Only Required if You Are On Stock Samsung Att/Rogers Firmwares And Need To Remove Bloatware And/or Modify System Files, Root Is Not Needed To Install Any Roms Or Recoveries
I Reiterate: You Need To Install A Custom Recovery before You Can Flash Custom Roms Or Root The Phone, You Do not Need To Root The Phone To Install Custom Roms Or Custom Recoveries.
Stock Phones = Use Odin To Flash TWRP Custom Recovery
Staying On Stock w/Custom Recovery = Flash Root Files From 2nd Post.
Flashing Any Custom Roms = If On Stock Recovery Then Use Odin To Flash TWRP Custom Recovery, Dont Waste Your Time Rooting.
Almost Everything For And About The Skyrocket Is In The 1STOP STICKY

PEREQUISTE: PHONES USB PORT WORKING AND RECOGNIZED BY PC. DRIVERS FOR USB INSTALLED CORRECTLY. IF NOT INSTALLED USE EITHER USB DRIVERS FILES OR INSTALL KIES WHICH INSTALLS USB DRIVERS
MAKE SURE KIES, ADB OR ANYTHING THAT HAS USB ACCESS LIKE VM'S ARE NOT RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND - CHECK WITH WINDOWS TASK MANAGER.
IF PHONES USB PORT IS DEAD THERES NO WAY TO INSTALL A CUSTOM RECOVERY AND AS SUCH YOUR STUCK ON STOCK FIRMWARE W/NO WAY TO ROOT THE STOCK FIRMWARE. DONT BELIEVE ANYONE THATS SAYS OTHERWISE.
NOTE: THIS METHOD IS ONLY FOR WINDOWS, ODIN IS A WINDOWS PROGRAM FOR INSTALLING STOCK FIRMWARES AND RECOVERIES ONTO SAMSUNG PHONES.
FOR MAC'S YOU NEED TO USE HEIMDALL OR USE BOOT CAMP, I DONT HAVE A MAC SO I CANT HELP YOU THERE.
NOTE: MICROSOFTS INTERNET BROWSER SOMETIMES HAS ISSUES DL'ING "TAR.MD5" FILES, IF HAVING A MD5 ERROR USE FIREFOX or CHROME BROWSERS TO DOWNLOAD THE TAR.MD5 FILES.

2ND PIC: this is also download/odin mode - the screen will display this when odin or kies has failed/not completed a previous flash, just continue following the procedure and/or read "section #3 troubleshooting odin" below.
1ST PIC >>
....
2ND PIC >>
2. DOWNLOAD twrp-3.0.0-0-skyrocket.tar.md5 - DO NOT CHANGE THE FILE NAME.
3. DOWNLOAD Odin-1.85.zip , Extract the contents of odin-185.zip to a folder, within that folder start "Odin3 v1.85.exe" .
4. Prepare Odin: Check "auto-reboot" and UNCHECK ALL OTHER OPTIONS.
Only Click "PDA" and navigate/select the TWRP tar.md5 file you downloaded from step #2.
DO NOT! CHECK "REPARTITION" IN ODIN! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! SEE COMPUTER SREEN PICS BELOW.
ON YOUR COMPUTER THIS IS WHAT YOUR SCREEN MUST LOOK LIKE WHEN YOUR PHONE IS IN DOWNLOAD MODE AND ODIN IS RECOGNIZING YOUR PHONE BEFORE YOU HIT THE START BUTTON.
5. Click Start in Odin. It will flash the new recovery and will reboot the phone when completed.
ON YOUR COMPUTER THIS IS WHAT YOUR SCREEN MUST LOOK LIKE WHEN ODIN HAS FINISHED FLASHING YOUR PHONE
IF YOU HAD ERRORS OR PROBLEMS USING ODIN, GO TO SECTION 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING ODIN
If All Went Well Then You are done using ODIN.
6. UPDATING TWRP
How To Enter Recovery Mode Is In Section #2 Below
Do Not Use Odin To Flash "Zip" Files.
LINKS TO RECOVERY ZIP FILES ARE IN THE 1STOP THREAD
TWRP
Read The TWRP THREAD To See If New Updates Have Any Bugs
PREFERRED METHOD: You can use a flashable zip file to be used by TWRP recovery, check in the 1STOP STICKY in the recovery section for latest files, copy the "zip" file to your sdcard and install it via the custom recovery and reboot back into recovery to see if it installed correctly.
ALTERNATE METHOD #1: TWRP now has odin flashable tar files , check HERE for latest TAR FILE to be used by ODIN. - WARNING - these are not tar.md5 files so check the HASH before flashing
ALTERNATE METHOD #2: using img files read this
7. You're done newbie and soon to be a power user, read and educate yourself as much as you can before flashing, happy flashing. :fingers-crossed:
2. HOW TO ENTER INTO THE RECOVERY MODE
ENTERING IN TO RECOVERY MODE IS THE SAME METHOD FOR BOTH ATT AND ROGERS SKYROCKETS.
ENTERING IN TO RECOVERY MODE IS THE SAME METHOD FOR BOTH STOCK AND A CUSTOM RECOVERY.
RECOVERY AND DOWNLOAD(ODIN) MODES ARE NOT THE SAMETHING
Now turn off your phone, unplugged(might work plugged in)
Press and keep both volume keys down
Then press the power button while still holding down the volume keys
When you feel the phone vibrate or see a logo on the screen, release the power button but not the volume keys.
When screen goes black release the volume keys.
Wait a few seconds to boot in to recovery
You are now in recovery mode
.
3. TROUBLESHOOTING ODIN
If Odin Shows An md5 Error Redownload The File Again
If Odin hangs at "Getting PIT for mapping" or giving a pit error - Read This Thread and post number 15 for solution
If the phone boots into any rom, make sure windows can transfer from and to internal and external sdcards to rule out driver issues
Does kies recognize your phone, even if you are on a custom rom kies will recognize your phone, this rules out driver issues
Make Sure You Are In Download Mode On Your Phone
If having trouble getting into dl mode try this>> take out the battery and leave it out. Plug the phone into the micro usb cable. Plug the USB end into your comp. Hold volume rockers down(either both or vol "-") and reinsert the battery
Make Sure Kies, Adb Or Anything That Has Usb Access Like Vm's Are Not Running In The Background or Running As A Service - Check With Windows Task Manager.
Restart computer
Make sure battery is charged
Try different usb port, preferably the rear ones on computer
Use original samsung usb cable, or try different cable but still oem
Uninstall drivers and kies, unplug phone & reboot comp, then just reinstall the USB Drivers from here
Try a different computer
Clean phones usb port w/no battery installed
If Phone Boot Loops Or Enters Into Recovery Mode While Trying To Get Into Download Mode(and you are sure you followed above procedure and also did not touch the power button), You Could Have A Stuck Power Button. To Fix That Try To Repeatedly Keep Pushing The Power Button Hard To Try To Unstick It. To Read More About The "Sticky" Power Button Problem Goto the 1STOP info section.
If you tried ALL of above tests and phone is not recognized by your computer you then have a hardware problem with the phones usb port. Read this for possible fix - FIX FOR PHONES USB PORT
4. WHAT IS AND WHY DO YOU NEED A CUSTOM RECOVERY
YOUR PHONE COMES STOCK WITH A PROGRAM WE CALL RECOVERY 3e.
TWRP ARE CUSTOM RECOVERIES THAT REPLACES THE STOCK RECOVERY 3e.
ON STOCK FIRMWARE YOU NEED TO USE ODIN TO INSTALL THE TAR FILE(NOT THE ZIP FILE) OF A CUSTOM RECOVERY TWRP, ITS THE FIRST AND FOREMOST THING TO DO TO YOUR SKYROCKET TO BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ELSE TO YOUR PHONE.
ONCE A CUSTOM RECOVERY HAS BEEN INSTALLED YOU CAN THEN BE ABLE TO INSTALL OTHER CUSTOM RECOVERIES, CUSTOM ROMS, ROOT THE PHONE AND INSTALL FLASHABLE "ZIP" FILES.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ROOTED TO FLASH A CUSTOM RECOVERY
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ROOTED TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS
FLASHING TWRP BY WHATEVER METHOD USED IS NOT ROOTING

UNINSTALL BUSYBOX GOTO SETTINGS/APPLICATIONS/ SELECT ALL/ SELECT BUSYBOX AND HIT UNINSTALL(if no uninstall option, choose disable).
REBOOT INTO CWN AND CONTINUE W/THE TUTORIAL WHERE YOU FLASH THE busybox-su-pack-cwm5.zip FILE.
5. EXPLANATION OF WHAT THE SU FILES DO
When you install the SuperSU-0.93-Busybox-1.20.2.zip with CWM it installs SU and BUSYBOX and SuperSU (su needs busybox to work properly)
SU "ROOTS" your phone, it gives you SU(superuser) status.
You are now 100% rooted when you installed that file.
The problem is you have no control of what app has root privilges.
SuperSU gives the user control of what app has root privilges.
When an app requests root access, SuperSU intercedes and you see popup window to allow or deny acess to the SU binary(the file you flashed in CWM).
Thats my best way of explaining it, if someone has a better way let me know
6. INFO ON ROOT: PLEASE READ IT
DONT USE ROM MANAGER TO INSTALL OR UPDATE CWM.
YOUR PHONE WILL BE REMAIN EXACTLY THE SAME WHEN ROOTING OR FLASHING TWRP/CWM WITH THE ADDITION OF A NEW RECOVERY AND THE SUPERSU APP WHEN FOLLOWING THIS TUTORIAL.
ROOTING ALLOWS USER TO CUSTOMIZE THEIR PHONES BY REMOVING SO CALLED BLOATWARE AND OTHER APPS THAT COME PREINSTALLED ON THE PHONE.
YOU DO NEED A CUSTOM RECOVERY TO ROOT
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ROOTED TO FLASH A CUSTOM RECOVERY
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ROOTED TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS
BUT YOU DO NEED A CUSTOM RECOVERY(TWRP/CWM) TO FLASH ROMS
FLASHING TWRP/CWM BY WHATEVER METHOD USED IS NOT ROOTING
THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO ROOT THE SKYROCKET WITH OUT FIRST INSTALLING A CUSTOM RECOVERY CWM/TWRP.
CUSTOM ROMS ARE ALREADY ROOTED: FOLLOW DEVS INSTR.
IF YOU DID HAVE ROOT AND FLASHED STOCK FIRMWARE BY WHATEVER METHOD YOU WILL LOSE ROOT.
YOUR PHONE WILL NOT LOSE APPS OR SETTINGS BY ROOTING OR BY ONSTALLING TWRP/CWM UNLESS "YOU" PERFORMED A WIPE/RESET

true, but just updating a step by step for rooting as i see too many post asking how to root the new ics
im not saying drumlords doesnt work, i have not tested that one myself, but these instructions seems bulletproof for newbs and the file mohan provides has bbox already included and me and mohan have tested it to work on stock ics with little fuss for the user to implement
Excellent, thank you very much for the updated information. Now I can worry less about using guides from 1-2 years ago lol.
I tried every one click option I could find just for the hell of it, superoneclick, doomlord, gingerbreak, and others and absolutely positivly without a doubt I can say they do not work... this is the only method I found to work on any ics firmware leaked or official

Hold down Volume Up and Volume Down keys. (NOTE: On rogers phones It's just Vol Down.)
TO ENTER INTO THE RECOVERY
Now turn off your phone, unplugged(might work plugged in)
[*]Press and keep both volume keys down
[*]Then press the power button while still holding down the volume keys
When you feel the phone vibrate or see a logo on the screen, release the power button but not the volume keys.
When screen goes black release the volume keys.
Wait a couple of seconds to boot

Just to verify again, entering into recovery for rogers phones is still only the up volume key? Just want to make sure because the two points I bolded seem contradictory so I want to be 100% sure before I do this myself
Recovery and download mode are 2 diffwrent things.
Recovery is the same for rogers and att phones
Download mode is different though between the 2 phones. Rogers phones you hold only the volume down button when plugging in the usb cable to get phone into download mode, then release the volume down key then press volume up key to see the download screen
Att phones you have to press both volume buttons down when plugging in usb cable to get into dl mode then release both volume keys, then press the volume up key to see dl mode screen
i edited the op to clarify that

You can't stickey it the mods have to lol... you say you don't plan on rooting but I would say why not? Have you weighed the advantages over disadvantages. The only disadvantage is loss of warranty but the advantages are way to many to list them all but a few are
1. Control over your device.
2. Apps like titanium backup that allow you to backup and restore apps without loss of data being able to remove or freeze those unwanted apps.
3. Root access to system files and folders.
And much much more. Also with cwm recovery you can make backups of your current rom you can restore later if something were to mess up on your phone.... just some friendly advice for you to consider and maybe even research on. If you decide to root and get stumped just pm me and I will help you....

I agree... too many advantages over the warranty issue. for starters, freezing all the bloatware will make your battery last longer. NOT seeing them in the list of apps is awesome!! (yeah, i get irritated just scrolling thru a bunch of useless app. Titanium backup is a definite plus. Not to mention a slew of apps that are specifically for rooted device. ;-)
I didn't bother to download/flash new ROM. The ICS from ATT works ok for me. If it is not broke.. I ain't changing it! :good:

[Guide] How to flash stock FW and CWM and Root i9103

Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for any damage to your device. You are following this tutorial at your own risk (not to discourage anyone, though as safe as this process maybe I will not take blame for anyone's bad luck). Apart from the tutorial explanation and some pictures I do not own any of the methods/tools/ROMs/FW in this tutorial/guide, I respect the works done here by the developers and I have no involvement in there works neither am I claiming so
Optional: download the android SDK
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Some Common Knowledge
Stock Firmware: Is needed when you get your phone stuck in a boot-loop(not getting past the splash/start-up screen) OR if you're having trouble updating through OTA updates or Kies (I had my share of both)
Odin: Is used to Flash a stock/Official FW and in Galaxy R's case CWM as well
CWM: This is needed to back up your device's current FW and to install custom ROMs
Super User: This thing gives you root access
Custom ROMs: For when the stock FW seems too dull or when you need to tweak your device to your liking. For the sake of keeping this guide simple and "streamlined" this would not be discussed in this post
This Tutorial assumes that you have little or no knowledge on flashing/modifying your phone's OS/Firmware
Things you'll need:
1. Odin
2. CWM
3. Super User
4. Flashable ROM/Firmware available here Courtesy of The-Droidster
5. A FULLY CHARGED Galaxy R aka Royale aka Galaxy Z (aka Galaxy S2's adopted brother aka Loki Get it cuz it's low key )
6. A USB data cable
7. A PC (I'm using a windows PC)
8. Patience and time
For Personal ease keep all downloads in a separate folder dedicated for Android "Hacking"
STEP 1A: Downloading/installing Tools
Extract Odin
CWM DO NOT EXTRACT
From the link above download Super User shown here: DO NOT EXTRACT
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
STEP 1B: Downloading Firmware
Open the Official ROM link provided and choose the Firmware you like (Depending upon region/languages and OS version)
After Downloading the zip file extract it
You Should get either:
1. Three additional .tar/.tar.md5 files DO NOT EXTRACT THESE
OR
2. A single .tar/.tar.md5 file DO NOT EXTRACT THIS
The extracted files should look like this:
STEP 2: Set up
Turn off your FULLY CHARGED phone (It's better to have a fully charged phone but above 50% is good too)
Open Odin from the folder:
.
.
Allow it run:
.
.
Set it up like this making sure everything else is unchecked
.
.
Now put the phone in Download Mode. On your phone press and hold the volume down, home and power buttons as shown (power button last)
.
.
The following screen would appear:
Press the Volume up button (Because you're a bad ass!)
Now connect the USB data cable with the phone and computer
After a few minutes (of downloading the drivers) you should see this:
Now everything is setup and you can start flashing/Installing a Firmware
STEP 3: Flashing the phone.
As mentioned before you would have either 3 or just 1 .tar/.tar.md5 files from extracting the FW
Here is how you put the extracted files in Odin.
For three files
The file containing the word CODE goes in PDA
The file containing the word MODEM goes in PHONE
The file containing the word CSC goes in CSC
AS Shown here:
For a single .tar/ .tar.md5 file, place the file in the PDA
Click Start and wait for the Yellow rectangle to go green and you're done.
The phone will start automatically and take a few minutes on first boot (so be patient)
And you've Flashed your phone! Hoorah!
Now on to CWM and Root!
Place the Super User .zip file and the Custom ROM .zip in the internal SD of the phone (not the SD card)
STEP 4: Clockwork Recovery Mod aka CWM
Launch Odin, keeping the previous settings
Click the PDA button and open the CWM file: it should look like this
Turn off your phone
Put it in to Download Mode using the volume down, Home and Power Buttons.
Connect the device and PC
Be a Bad ass again!
Hit Start on Odin
Wait for Reboot! ....aaaaand then turn off!
Turn the device ON
After seeing the GalaxyR logo immediately hit the VOLUME UP and HOME buttons
If you see this:
Congratulations! You just installed CWM
STEP 5: Super User/Root access
Note: Recovery navigates using power up and down and to enter the power button
From the CWM select "Install zip from sdcard"
Look for the Super User .zip file and select it
Select yes to install
Reboot!
Now you would have a super user icon in your apps!
Congratulations! You just rooted your phone!
Change log (01/09/2012):
Removed Custom ROM tutorial (it was too generic)

I know for a fact that there are more than just one tutorial out there, I just tried to make a simplified and yet a more detailed Guide as best as I could
I even added pretty pictures
Very well written!
Good job buddy! This could just be the new one stop thread for flashing, rooting and installing cwm for Galaxy R!
However there are a few subtle changes that I would like to mention!
1. BEFORE YOU BEGIN
download the android SDK It is important for installing drivers and tools etc
Not so mandatory for the purpose of flashing and rooting! Drivers get installed automatically, when the device is connected to the PC(Be sure you have Internet connectivity just in case windows has to look up for updated drivers!)
2. Things you'll need:
1. Odin
2. CWM
Use this link for the CWM recovery! It has been optimised by Adam and does not need to be extracted!
As such make corrections here as well:
Extract Odin and CWM (DO NOT EXTRACT the zip folder inside the CWM)
From the link above download Super User shown here: DO NOT EXTRACT
3. STEP 1B: Downloading Firmware
Open the Official ROM link provided and choose the Firmware you like (Depending upon region/languages and OS version)
After Downloading the zip file extract it
You Should get three additional .zip/.tar/.rar files DO NOT EXTRACT THESE
The extracted files should look like this:
You are being very specific here! The 3 files format is not applicable to all ROM's for Galaxy R. Rather almost all the Stock ROM's come as a single *.tar or *.tar.md5 package that is directly loaded into the PDA section of ODIN! No other files are required!
So please make corrections at relevant places like here:As mentioned before you would have 3 .zip/.tar files from extracting the FW
Here is how you put the extracted files in Odin.
The file containing the word CODE goes in PDA
The file containing the word MODEM goes in PHONE
The file containing the word CSC goes in CSC
4. [*]Reboot! ....aaaaand then turn off!
Odin always Auto Reboots the device after flashing. So no need to manually do that.
5. Now the most important thing:
I recommend that you completely remove the section for flashing custom ROM's.
Reason: Each Custom ROM developer will have his/her own method of installing the ROM. Though most of it is generic, still there are quite a few steps that are different for each ROM. So the discussion regarding installing a custom ROm better be kept confined to the thread of that particular ROM. As such it would be wise to remove all references to Customs ROM's from the guide. Keep it focused on the three imp. things...which you already have done very well!:good:
Thnx!
Good Job

thanks a lot buddy, yes , old tutorial was there but your's is much more newbee friendly and elobrated :good:
How perfect of you to make this thorough guide right now!
I am having KIES issues and was just in need of this "three-step" procedure for flashing stock and restoring CWM. (I'm not sure if I can flash stock through CWM, therefore I just overwrite CWM and redo the whole thing).
BR, Martin
By the way, there's a mistake in the OP.
You are writing "After seeing the GalaxyR logo immediately hit the VOLUME UP and POWER buttons"
which should say VOLUME UP and HOME buttons.
And tbh why bother to do this, if someone is already repacking every stock firmware with CWM? So that everything is done on automatic basic?

Actually I have stated here already :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861954
The mmc_cap_erase bug can actually takes place at the very first time just after the device rebooted with ICS firmware. And if you just switch off the device after flashing the kernel in order to flash the CWM. There is a chance that your device is already bricked during this process. The only safe method to do this is to replace the recovery image inside the stock firmware with a secured CWM (which using a flawless kernel), such that you have a chance to immediately flash a kernel in CWM after the device rebooted.
When the device is rebooted automatically after using odin, it will get into recovery mode first before going any further, therefore no damage can be done as the device never booted with a flawed kernel.
Therefore the method OP mentioned is actually unsafe as well.
oh btw, it is funny to see how many people that are using Galaxy tab 10.1 have bricked their device after updating to ICS 4.0.4, it seems like none of their users / devs have found that MMC_CAP_ERASE is enabled on their device as well lol But I guess I will just make a thread in a minute or so to get them noticed.

Oh well! I think now I understand what u r trying to convey. I found it a bit difficult to understand by reading the original thread that you created.
So what you are trying to say is:
After flashing the repacked ROM that you have provided via ODIN, the device won't boot into the OS! Rather it would boot directly into CWM that you have packed into the ROM. This way you can flash a secure kernel before the first boot itself! So there's no risk of bricking bcoz the Stock kernel won't ever be loaded! Ingenious my boy! Great!:good: How long have you been playing around with this?
Having said that, the guide the OP has posted is not only about flashing ICS ROM's but also for GB ROM's. What the OP can do is add an exception for ICS ROM's and a link to your repacked ROM would fit in well I guess!

omap4boot for P940 (Prada 3.0)
This is a modified version of the omap4boot work done by wkpark (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1971014).
This version is designed especially for the P940 to allow fastboot access. A (signed) Clockworkmod recovery is included. This allows you to easily root the device from the recovery and/or flash custom roms.
No need for installing any LG driver/tool crap for rooting.
Furthermore this version works for both Windows and Linux (drivers for Windows included).
Download builds
How this works
Download and extract omap4boot-for_prada.tar.gz
(Windows only) Pull the battery and attach an usb cable to your device. In device manager an OMAP4430 device will show up briefly. Hurry up and right-click > update driver software and install the drivers from the usb_drv_windows directory included in the archive.
Execute start_fastboot.bat (Windows) or start_fastboot.sh (Linux)
Follow the instructions shown.
(optional) Boot into recovery by holding CAMERA + VOLUME DOWN + POWER and do stuff: root your installed rom via a special update.zip tailored for the p940 (http://milaq.net/downloads/android/p940/p940_root_stock_su3.1.3.zip), install a custom rom, etc.
Celebrate
CAUTION: Use this with care! Don't do anything else in fastboot, except you know what you are doing. With this your device is practically unbrickable but you can erase partitions the device needs to work properly. You have been warned.
And as always: I take no responsibility whatsoever for raging, screaming, crying, frustration, failing, confusion, dead kittens, etc.

Is it normal that there are no files in "usb_drv_windows\amd64\" directory?
Is it normal that omap device appears only for few(1-2) seconds and then disappear? or this is my device problem, maybe to small power from usb port?

yes, that's normal. you have to be very quick. but once they're installed there is no need to do it again.
or just use linux, no driver installation required there.

Hi, I have a bit of trouble with P940, could you please help me XDA?
I can connect when I start-fastboot.bat, however when I choose that I want to install custom recovery, the script hangs on waiting for device.
Prada shows fastboot v 0.5. I tried all the circusy things with drivers, now I am using fresh WIN7x64 install and with cables. Any help? (I have fresh V20D, but also ADB is not working - it stops on device (num) offline.)
you probably need to install fastboot drivers. use the generic ones from the android-sdk.
if you are booted into fastboot and are connected via usb your device should show up in the device manager as "lg p2 device" or such

after 42 reboot it cought up and installed recovery! Thanks a lot. Now just realize root through cwm...
Maybe a stupid question. Can I use this way to root an stock 4.04 p940 and have then root rights and cwm? And is cwm then always accessible via the phone key combination on the phone to flash your custom roms, make nandroids...
I'm familiar with S1 and S2 but the P940 sounds always way more complicated for me and it is my daughters phone. She will kill me if I would damage it Actually she has often trouble with no network and with SMS so I thought this wat to root and got cwm + using milaq's 10.1 ROM could be a good solution. I also need to know if the Prada look and feel will stay in 10.1 then.

yip, this will enable you to flash an - already included - recovery. you can then root the installed stock rom via the generic superuser package quoted in OP or flash custom roms, etc.

if you keep to the description and only flash the recovery and leave all other partitions alone, you are safe to do so. but be sure you have read everyting in the OP and are aware of any potential risk, although the p940 is practically unbrickable (if you dont do anything real fuzzy).

Dear Milaq,
After backed-up and restore, I saw clockworkmod work incorrect, because Prada has 2 partition involve system
_for mounting at /system
_for moutong at /system/app
Clockworkmod defaut mount 1 partition at /system, it doesnt mount partition at /system/app. So, backup will not work properly when I restore.
Please fix it

Just a tip I forget to share. While flashing on win7 64bit I stuck in the fast boot screen. As solution I open the device manager again and let the device reload the driver. Once this was done the process immediately continue until the end with no more problems.

Installed stock ICS V20D, then CWM via fastboot with no problems but rooting (installing a flashable zip with su, busybox and superuser.apk) does not seem to work...
Looks like a custom bootloader might be needed....
Therefore the walhalla method included some patched bin (a piece of ROM)
because lg decided to have a system2 partition mounted to /system/app.
su package installed just fine but the superuser.apk doesnt get used because of the mounts. try "su" in a shell and you will see that rooting went just fine. you can then manually push superuser.apk to /system/app

Does manually mean copy/paste with root browser, using adb/ fastboot command ??
Root checker says I'm rooted but some apps like Root Browser and Root App Delete say I do not have a proper root access
Maybe it's sth to do with permissions ? Also I noticed busybox is missing ..
I used Superuser by Koush flashable .zip

Well, for me root access worked fine after
1. flashing the rooting update.zip, which was posted by milaq in the first post and
2. flashing the Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip (http://androidsu.com/superuser/)
So maybe something of these two zips is unnecessary, but at least it is simple and should work
i just wanna ask,, will this work to stock gingerbread? or should i update first to icecreamsandwich?

Well... As I said already to Karim Kahale before. SmartFlash make more problems than good stuff. I know that LGFlashTools is a bit more complicated but it do much better and clean job. Take a look here. Your threat is the same like Karim Kahale one just with another bin file. You have not opportunity to use large partition, the rom is not Rooted, 90% of the cases you end up with lost IMEI... so you end up with much more work to do.

[Resolved] Titans2 Doogee DG700 Android 5.0 Lollipop Repartition/Root/Recovery/Xposed workshop

UPDATE:
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!
From the moment I bought this phone, I only had problems:
-Facebook always freezing/hanging/lagging when I'm talking to someone that is talking at the same time (had to revert to Android 4.4 to fix this).
-Battery could not handle the heat of the "waterproof" phone and eventually bloated, becoming so swollen that I had to buy a new one.
-Back cover's cheap plastic snapping bits eventually broke as well, had to replace the back cover and order a new one (and one snap broke again).
-Phone was never waterproof, tiny droplets of water could get in from the microphone whenever it was humid and the phone was useless when it happened
-"Shockproof" phone fell from a height of one meter while I was cycling and now the touchscreen is completely unresponsive, even in recovery... completely dead
-Supposedly solid touchscreen cracked real bad at 2 places after I inadvertently put my keys in the same pocket
-The fake plastic chrome in the back gets all scratched and chipped as it's the first thing that touches any surface.
-I suspect this phone of having corrupted and ruin 2 genuine sdcards that I had to replace. Thank you for SanDisk warranty!!
Now all I have is a very expensive clock with a screen that I can just turn on and off. Go look somewhere else than Doogee to buy a phone. I dropped my old LG-P500 from the third floor when I hung the sheets while my phone was in there, dropped a cheap Mediatek Cubot down the stairs and both worked perfectly after. But a stupid shockproof phone can't survive a one meter fall
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THIS PHONE
Best way to use it is to revert back to Kit Kat. Believe us (Several XDA members and me), Android 5.0, even with the backport fixes is unresponsive, slow and sluggish.
tvladan made a guide for the best way to repartition + root + custom recovery + xposed your phone on post #239:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63260626&postcount=239
OLD POST:
This thread is a work in progress for the DG700 to get better partitions, root access, a custom recovery, the Xposed framework and fix memory leaks.
We are still improving it, here's what we have so far:
4GB internal storage partition --> OK
6GB internal storage partition --> IN PROGRESS
Root access with Kingroot --> OK
Root access with Super SU --> OK
Custom Recovery --> OK
Xposed framework --> OK
Custom ROM with black theme --> IN PROGRESS
Credits:
All this has been made possible by the common efforts of XDA members tvladan, Nudeldampf, Pepo1980, mikaelbrostrom, lunito.
ROM was made by Yalita35254
Recovery was ported from yuweng's TWRP by Hanuma50
Xposed framework was developped by rovo89
The bootanimation memory leak was fixed by arter97
The ColorFade memory leak was fixed by tonyp
Make sure to click "thanks" to these awesome people if you see their posts!
Disclaimer:
Of course, none of the listed people and me are responsible if you break your device completely. However, during the test phase I have flashed well over 80 times total and many times thought I killed my phone definitely, but it was always ok. Flashing is so easy nowadays, and you can pretty much always recover from any mistake by reflashing everything. If your phone is not detected anymore by the flashing software, unplug the phone, remove its battery and wait a few seconds before retrying.
Guide:
Step 0, getting ready:
If you just want a rooted phone with a minimal footprint that will still be easily update-able via the phone's "Wireless update", go on page 2 for a guide to simply root the phone.
When you make ANY operation in SP Flash Tool, PHONE MUST BE OFF AND ONLY CONNECT YOUR PHONE AFTER YOU CLICK THE "START" OR "DOWNLOAD" BUTTONS
If your device is undetected in SP Flash Tool, unplug and remove the battery then try again.
You don't have to do all the steps, depending if you just want a repartition, a root, or the whole package
Don't try to skip steps by flashing the rooted /system partition and custom recoveray at the same time, it will not work
Make sure you have at least 80% battery, just to be sure. Flashing takes a lot of juice, especially the first boot that will show a white logo with full brightness for a while
Step 1, Download drivers and open command window:
Download the VCOM USB Drivers attached in this post, extract them, then open a command windows in Administrator mode like this:

Step 2, Install the drivers:
Change the directory to the location of the auto-installer and execute install.bat:
Step 3, Verify driver:
To verify if the drivers are OK, turn your phone off and plug it in your computer. You should hear the familiar Windows chime when a new device was plugged in. The Command Window should look like this after the installation:
Step 4, Download the ROM and rooted system:
Download both the 4GB of internal storage repartitioned ROM and rooted Android in this package
You will have to flash the ROM and the rooted /system partition in different steps, so follow the guide and don't try anything to skip steps.
Step 5, Format your phone accordingly:
Download SP Flash Tool v5.1352.01, extract and open flash_tool.exe
You must then format your phone to make it work with the customized re-partitioned ROM by entering these values in the Format tab:
0x0000000045F80000
0x000000018CC80000
Then make sure your phone is DISCONNECTED AND TURNED OFF, click start, wait a second or two and connect your phone. Let SP Flash Tool do its magic until you see the success popup
Step 6, Select the scatter file:
In the Download tab, select the scatter file from the r21 ROM you just downloaded to load all the partitions in SP Flash Tool
Step 7, Flash the repartitioned ROM:
After SP Flash tool finished the checkups, make sure all the settings are the same as the 1st screenshot, then with your phone DISCONNECTED AND TURNED OFF, click Download, wait a few seconds and plug your phone. Download shoud start
Step 8, Initial Android boot:
When you see the success message from SP flash tool, disconnect your phone and turn it on to set up your android. Keep SP Flash tool opened for the next step
THE FIRST BOOT WILL TAKE A VERY LONG TIME, encrypting your /data and FAT partitions, then seeming frozen in the white screen for 20+ minutes. BE PATIENT.
While your phone is booting, you can prepare for the next step.
Step 9, Flash the rooted Android (optional if you want to stop here):
If you just want the repartitioned and don't care about root (yeah, right!), you can stop here. If not, click on the ANDROID partition in SP Flash Tool to select the rooted partition that was included in the package you downloaded.
Make sure only this partition is selected like in the screenshot, then with your phone DISCONNECTED AND TURNED OFF, click Download, wait a few seconds and plug your phone. Download shoud start
Step 10, Apply the root:
Disconnect your phone and restart. This is mandatory before going any further, Android will install SuperSU for root permissions, wait for it to finish.
Keep SP Flash tool opened for the next step.
Step 11, Flash the custom recovery (optional if you want to stop here):
Download the custom recovery (Also attached to this post) then in SP Flash Tool, click the RECOVERY partition to select the recovery you just downloaded
Make sure only this partition is selected like in the screenshot, then with your phone DISCONNECTED AND TURNED OFF, click Download, wait a few seconds and plug your phone. Download shoud start
Step 13, Fix the boot animation memory leak (optional if you want to stop here):
Lollipop has lots of memory leak, especially version 1.0. But one of the worst ones is the boot animation memory leak that XDA member arter97 describes as being due to the memory allocated to play the previous frame is not released.
This can end up in an unstable Android system because of core services being killed due to insufficient memory, or sometimes even in boot loops that you must end by removing your battery (happened to me a few times). Fortunately, he fixed this and posted the solution.
13.1 Get the new binaries to fix that problem, make sure you get version 2:
13.2 Make a backup of file /system/bin/bootanimation. I use and recommend ES File Explorer. Make sure you turn on root explorer to see the system files like such:
13.2 Replace the bootanimation file with the one you downloaded. The one for our phone is this one in the zip package:
bootanimation_v2.zip\aosp\32bit\bootanimation
13.3 Make sure the owner, group and persmissions are the same as the original bootanimation file. It should be the same as on my phone:
Step 14, Download and Install the Xposed Framework (optional if you want to stop here):
If you want the Xposed framework, get the Xposed Installer and the SDK from the official Xposed Lollipop post
14.1 Download these 2 files and copy them on your SD card:
XposedInstaller_XXX.apk
xposed-vXX-sdk21-arm.zip (sdk22 is for Android 5.1)
14.2 Reboot your phone in recovery:
Power off phone or reboot
When the screen is black, before the DG700 logo appears, hold VOLUME-UP and "POWER" button together until you see a black and white menu
Move the cursor to the first menu item (recovery) with the VOLUME-UP button, then select by pressing the VOLUME-DOWN button
14.3 Once You are in your newly installed custom recovery, tap install:
14.3 Select the xposed-vXX-sdk21-arm.zip file from your SD card and swipe the handle at the bottom to accept
14.4 Once done, reboot and go in settings->security and activate Unkown Sources:
14.5 Navigate to where you downloaded the XposedInstaller_XXX.apk file with ES Explorer (or any other way) and install the Xposed application.
Step 15, Fix the Color Fade memory leak (optional):
One of the worst memory leaks of Android 5.0.x is the Color Fade memory leak that causes memory to pile up every time you turn the screen off.
This has been fixed by XDA member tonyp, with his Xposed module that follows the official Android 5.1 patch, available on in the Xposed repository or visa the Play Store:
I'm not 100% sure if Doogee's r21 has fixed this issue, but activating this module will either fix the leak, or change nothing. Better safe than sorry. If I get any confirmation that we don't need it, I will remove this step
Post-Notes:
To make changes to system apps, you can use the following tools. I recommend using these to avoid a boot loop or applications "closing unexpectedly":
Delete system app with Titanium Backup (System application manager corrupted my system)
Integrate updates into system with System application manager (Titanium Backup just shows the loading animation forever)
Convert user applications to system applications with System application manager (Titanium Backup just shows the loading animation forever)
If you wish to install Doogee's r24 update, you cannot do it with the recovery as it will end up in a boot loop. You must use this technique explained by mikaelbrostrom on page 22 of this thread. I did not include these steps here as I did not test it and don't have the screenshots.
If you want to backup all phone, it seems that MTK Droid Tool is not working properly and XDA member lunito has found a way to backup all your phone with some hacks described on page 23 of this thread, using this technique. I did not include these steps here as I did not test it and don't have the screenshots.
anybody...?
Is it still unavailable?
it seems that it has not been done yet ... I just got mine with lolipop and I am also waiting for a root method ...
It seems like this guy managed to do it with vRoot/iRoot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...00-unboxing-hands-t2953664/page3#post59997977
but it did not work with me, either with the latest version of iRoot or an older version. And that was with a Vanilla installation of the latest Android 5.0 from the Doogee website. I asked the guy which version of iRoot he used, but no answer..
Yea but as I understand what he wrote there, he flashed back to KitKat and than rooted the phone, which we know was possible. (Flash back to Android KitKat that's the title of his post) I would like to keep Lolipop and have my phone rooted since it came with some bloatware installed and I need to install some apps that need root privileges. I guess it's a matter of waiting for somebody with the proper knowledge to root it with Lolipop installed. Doogee DG700 users please keep this thread alive until a proper root method for Lolipop is posted. Thanks
Oh yes, you're right, I did not read correctly as usual..
Well, let's hope a hacker cannot live with an unrooted DG700 and fixes that

Heya!
Is it me or nobody found a way to root the Doogoo Titans2 DG700 that has Android 5.0?
There are guides everywhere for KitKat, but it seems like Lollipop 5.0 is more robust and nobody cracked it yet.. It probably means that there is no CWM Recovery for the MTK6582 either huh?
Anyone found info on the subject? Google has not been cooperative and I cannot find anything on xda. I don't think I can live with a phone that has no root and no Xposed framework hehe!
Thank ya!

That's great news! Now, how do I get this old version of Vroot?
Be careful guys, my phone is completely messed up:
-Cannot uninstall any apps as "settings" app crashes
-Cannot open google play store, even after clearing data
-Google play services keeps crashing all the time
-App "superCleaner" got installed and I cannot uninstall it, even with an uninstaller as it comes back after reboot
Dang...sorry about that...are you sure its from the root procedure? Mine works ok...I also checked it with root checker...Green results.

Haha don't worry it's not your fault!
Trying to reset phone right now, will see what happens. If still broken, will reinstall lollipop completely.
I will then try the procedure again and post updates here. Might not finish today though, getting late here

I hope it all works well Can you post how you did it after trying the procedure again? I've done some things with my old Samsung phone years ago, but am a total noob on this one

No probs!
I managed to re-flash, re-partition and re-root. All works well and I see the storage space increased, but after the initial setup, the phone enters into a boot loop if I restart.. No idea why. I'm trying to figure out why and when it works perfectly, I'll post the correct vRoot with the EBR1 and EBR2 files in case people want to repartition as well.
In the meantime, if anybody has an idea why it would boot loop, go ahead and tell me.
I'll try it too and post results ASAP. Meanwhile, i did some trying with IRoot en version, did not work but got some suspicious apps installed, also my PC antivirus found the software suspicious. After 2 failed root attempts from iRoot I managed to uninstall the apps that it installed on my phone. Did some reading on the internet and found some troubeleing accusations regarding the vRoot / iRoot software installing crap on users phones. I'll still try rooting with this older version of vRoot and see what happens.
Ok I give up.. I don't know enough about Android. I really don't know why my phone is working perfectly after repartitioning until the first restart after initial setup where it ends up into a boot loop.. I asked help to another XDA member, Elizabeth, who has very good knowledge in repartitioning. Hopefully she can help.
So of all I wanted to do:
1-Repartition for bigger data partition to have more apps (10 apps and phone is already full???)
2-Install a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP
3-Root the phone
4-Install XPosed
All I managed to do was root.. everything else not working but I will still give you guys what I used in case you want to mess with it and can manage to get it working
1-Repartitioning
I attached the files I tried to flash
4GB.rar for a 4GB data partition
6GB.rar for a 6GB partition
And I also included the original one from Doogee for Android 5.0 in case you want to try on your own. I never managed to flash using the scatter file. Every time I was flashing the EBR files with the original scatter file and it seemed to work well, until the first reboot. I created my EBR files with this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/howto-modify-ebr-mediatek-devices-t2769604
And tried using these EBR files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455850
But they all resulted in the same boot loop after the first time I restarted the phone (so if you never, ever restart, it works great )
2-Custom recovery
I got a custom recovery from that thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-0-doogee-titans2-t3115515
and I also attached it here. However it is of course not working either, cannot even get into recovery.
3-Root the phone
Just used the VRoot I attached. I rooted my phone about 9999 times with all the flash I did in the past 36 hours and it usually works on the first/second try, except now that I have reinstalled all my apps and after about 10 times GRRR! So just keep trying, it will work eventually. If after 3 tries it's not working, delete the "KingUser" and "supercleaner" apps, try again 2-3 times, rinse and repeat. I was just unlucky that last time.
4-Install XPosed
I did not even get that far since I never was able to install a custom recovery.. There is a guide on how to install the new alpha version for Lollipop and it doesn't seem very hard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
That's it! Good luck and I hope we'll have more help to put more details and a better guide
Thanks a lot so far! I'll try this tomorrow after work when I have more time
First, sorry for the late reply!
Maybe I'm missing something, but all I get from Vroot is the error 0x000007d1 with "no device found" USB Debugging is enabled and I've installed the universal ADB drivers, can access my phone storage from the Windows explorer, but vroot just won't work.
So, I've tried several things and several adb and mtp drivers on two different computers, but Windows is still telling me that is has no correct driver for MTP. And vroot just keeps telling me it can't find the device and giving me the "helping" text of "USB_DEBUG", which basically opens a link to their forum explaing on how to enable USB Debugging - which I have enabled.
What the hell am I doing wrong?
Hey any one tell me how to root ASUS_T00Q 5.0 lollipop
