Are there any good Devs for our Sensation XL devices,we have a few good roms on SXL Forum but suddenly every good Developer is leaving us because they buy them self a new phone, like One X and so on. Now they have a new phone and those of us that just bought Sensation XL or cannot afford a better one like One X, now we are left behind with maybe one or two devs ( and they have so little time,or dont even have SXL for testing). And Roms that are available are not being updated, and almost nobody is giving any support. Now i really regret that i sold my Desire HD-THE BEST PHONE EVER AND WITH MANY DEVELOPERS HERE ON XDA,AND MANY UPDATED ROMS ,THEMES, SUPPORT AND SO ON. I am asking you folks here to help us find a good Developer/s for making some new Roms or atleast to help us update some old Roms ,like Sense 4.0 lite. Thanks for any reply

HTC seem to be developing a history of dropping development and support on their models after 6 months, which is extremely annoying unless you like to upgrade every 6 months. Is this false? Or should we all migrate away from HTC to other phones for this reason? My particular interest is in Android.
I was going to get my wife a HTC Desire Z but now I'm wondering if she's better off with an Android phone from a brand with a support history longer than 6 months.
Which Android vendor provides you with long support?
For me, I have just bought a HTC Dream more than 2 years after its release because there are tons of custom roms on xda. The Dream lives on because of the large community.
Make sure what you buy is a popular phone, so when official support stops you would stil get new roms from the community.
Inclined to agree, I have the original Desire so I am reading up on rooting and custom ROMs. Any suggestions or warnings?

Take your time and read those stickies on the Desire forums. You'll be glad you did.
To OP, I think most are about the same. Though, I am still a little annoyed at the whole TyTN II debacle a few years ago, lol. For me, it really comes down to build quality and not much competes with HTC. Especially when they try. Like the HD2.
I sure am taking my time. I am the kind of person who drives everyone nuts with questions on every detail.

This site is a benefit to anyone who uses it. It will extend the life of your phone. Many of the manufacturers will drop support after a few months. Most don't provide upgrades to software. Being able to use this site provides you with both: technical support for problems and upgraded software as newer versions becomes available.
My advice to you; buy a phone supported by XDA. If its not on here, don't buy it...

Wise words. I am so thankful I got the STOCK factory standard unlocked / unbranded AMOLED UK HTC Desire now, that's about as 'vanilla' as you can get by the sounds of it and I should be ok for ROM support then. Now to work out the right rooting / ROM procedure and which ROM to use!!
Hello all,
I have a few quick questions to ask. I had recently "test-drived" the Sensation XE and found it to be a really good phone for me, therefore I will be purchasing it very soon. Although, I really dislike the ROM and Launcher as they drain battery like mad. Just wondering, currently what is the best ICS rom for the Sensation (XE) and also are there any problems that may occur when it comes to actually using an ICS rom on a Sensation (as all the roms i've looked at are currently in their beta stages).
Thank you for any answers provided.

I'd probably say ARHD is the best but do have a look around and see what is best for you.
I'm having trouble deciding if I should get the XE or SGS2, what do you rekon?
Both phones are very good. My wife has SGS2, I have her tmo employee 1st ed. sensation. ( i believe 1st ed., prob same as 1st retail shipped) i digress.
The sensation is rooted and has been through the works with almost every customer rom/kernel here.
We recently switched phones for two days and I went to work on her SGS2. For me its personal preference. After 2 days with juggernaut-sgs2, I missed the sensation.
Both phones work well and both companies have updated versions of them both.
If your willing to wait a month or two I'm sure that another phone will be around to outdate both the SGS2 and Sensation.
The sensation XE uses the same roms as the Normal sensation as the screen size is the same and stuff.
I'd say the best rom is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408351
The best thing to do for is to try all the roms till you find one that you like.
I prefer insert coin. A lot of updates and the forum thread is more clean. Because mike(dev of android revolution hd) gives the changelog before dating up his rom, there is alot of trash to be found in his thread and a lot of double posts. But in the end its a question of your own taste. Greets
Hi everyone, because HTC is turning into one big liar, promising updates and canceling them in the last weeks i started wondering if the devs of this community could port sense roms to other devices like galaxy nexus or samsung galaxy s2-3. That would be a big blow for htc because a lot of sense loving people would switch to other devices. i am not dev, i wish i was but if this sense porting is possible please please do it.
Thank you
Won't do a thing to HTC, we "power-users" as called by outsiders are only a very small group of android users. Most people don't even know what root-access means so yea, this won't do a lot with these normal users.

we're a big part belive me only in dhd section IceColdSandwich rom has 25000 distinct downloads and that's one phone one rom, take it like this in every country almost 10% of users use custom roms i'd say it's a loss if the sales drop by 40000-70000 pcs in a few months. that's how i think

These companies go in millions and like 70000 don't really matter and most HTC users do not only use a HTC phone for the ui or official updates.

What wrong with default system UI ????
HTC SENSE consumes more RAM and makes the phone slow.

You could take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707177.
I've had some bad experiences with my last 3 HTC devices. Something I was really displeased about HTC is that they'll tout some of their devices as the greatest device ever and then stop supporting it within 3-4 months. This has happened with a phone I bought for myself, a phone I bought for my sister and the HTC Flyer.
My dad currently is looking for a new phone and he's had his eyes set on the HTC One X. I'm little bit hesitant because of HTC's behavior with keeping their device updated.
What is the say of the community on this phone? Mostly, people with negative experiences are the ones who are vocal about it so the good and complimenting threads get burred.
Are you guys waiting for Jelly Bean? How are you guys feeling about HTC with their work/support on this device? Has HTC been proactive in fixing whatever might be problematic?
Thank you, community!
Personally, between you and me, I'm telling my dad to get a Galaxy S3.
Having said that, I love my phone and would never trade it for a gs3.
I think HTC does a little better designing their phones hardware than other companies. Their software updates seem to take 3 months to happen and this latest update fixed most people's complaints about the software.
Having said that, Samsung has much more support overall. The whole ecosystem really. From finding cases in physical stores to finding other people who actually own the same phone as you.

Update-wise, HTC seems like they do get the updates out, but they sure do take their time...
If your dad wants something more user friendly and functional, Touchwiz is probably better than Sense, even if it looks much less refined. Samsung also is pretty good about source release, so if those things matter, go with the GS3. If he's willing to deal with the issues that the One X may have, it will be a great phone.

Well, the question is, is your dad the kind of person who will actually care about getting updates? The most recent OTA from AT&T is 2.20, which is also coming stock on most phones now, and from what I understand, it's already pretty smooth and most of the bugs in previous versions have been squashed.
A Jelly Bean update has been guaranteed for the One X at some point, but will your dad care if it ever comes? Or does he just want a phone that works out of the box?
Personally, I love my One X and I'd be happy run AOKP or even a Sense-based ROM on it for 2 years. It's smooth and fast, has a great camera (even with AOKP), good battery life, and awesome build quality. Jelly Bean will be nice when it comes, but I'm not desperate for it - especially now that I'm running AOKP and have an ICS-compatible version of Google Now that (mostly) works.
That said, do I wish we had the dev support of the S3? Sure, but the One X has a much more limited audience, so it's just not going to happen.
Good vibes miian good vibes

There have been so many new phones available on the market that people and HTC have completely forgot about older phones. HOX supposed to have an update of kitkat, but due to their lacking support from Nvidia as they tell us, there might be a little chance of getting any update.
Sense 6 (sixth sense) is available now, with new look and bright color. And we wonder if any one out there care about these old phone and bring us the new Sense 6 custom ROM.
Is there any chance of release of the sense 6 Custom Rom. If not, can I request to release one.
I think you're in the wrong forum, you're mentioning the Nvidia chipset which leads me to believe you have the HTC One X Endeavoru, and this is the HTC One XL Evita forum.
Either way, it isn't just a matter of you asking for a ROM and it happening. The ROM would have to be ported from a device that already has Sense 6, and any device that already has Sense 6 is very difficult to be ported from.
