I have a rooted phone that has worked like this for a while changing a lot of roms (I'm on ordroid right now)
Few days ago it seems as if apps can't get full root access even though I grant them.
Examples: when I turn on TB it says "asking for root access" while notifications on the bottom reappear every 30 seconds saying "titanium backup has been granted superuser access to interactive shell", my backup takes a long time to load, fasterfix stopped loading.
Tried fixing permissions on recovery but it just thinks for 10 minutes so I stopped it by taking the battery out.
Supersu tries to install an update but it fails, doesn't uninstall itself.
bootloader says soff, hboot 1.27.1100
What can be done?
Thanks in advance

try to clear all the apps that were granted root privileges from supersu app
all the apps are shown once you open supersu...just click on each of them and click forget...
then for whatever app you require root access...supersu again asks for granting permission ..so grant it and try again using titanium backup
Still doesn't work

You can try one thing.
First download root check basic from market and check whether you got your device rooted or not.
Then
Download superuser app from market..don't open this after downloaded
Then go to supersu-settings-cleanup-click "switch superuser app".
After this you can use superuser app you've downloaded to manage root privilages

Downloaded root check, ran it and same thing happens: it works a long time and during it brings up notifications every 30 seconds that it has been granted root access. The app didn't come to a conclusion.
Clocked on install a different superuser ago in supersu, the prompt says "if succeeded the app will close in a few second. It doesn't.
Went anyways to superuser and tried to update binaries and it failed gaining root access.
Would reflashing the ROM work? What about full wipe and reflash?
The weird thing is that it was rooted correctly for a long time and it suddenly happened.

The thing is I also had this issue earlier...I messed my root access...so what I did is I did a fullwipe and flashed the Rom again...I did a full wipe because in my case fmradio didn't work either....
But what i would suggest you to do is ...first just flash the Rom again...no need to wipe cache + dalvik as Rom installation will take care of it ...and see if this solved your problem...if this didn't work then do a fullwipe (superwipe) and flash the Rom ...this will surely resolve your problem..as it did in my case

Flashed latest rom version with full wipe and works perfectly now. Also restored data using nand.
Thank you!

May i know how do i stop the Superuser app from auto-updating ?
After updating, there's FC errors and cannot use app anymore.
Need to uninstall update everytime this happens.
Running Insertcoin 3.3.0 but i dun have the permission to ask question on the Dev section ( since i'm a XDA new member ).
Any help would be nice.

Have you cleared the cache from settings/applications/superuser. Go there and clear cache and data there. Reboot and see if the SU app still fc's. That should correct the fc.

Hi
Go into market, search for super user, and you can untick allow automatic updates.
That should stop it until we get a proper fix.
the new update did the same for me, super user couldnt even open up without fc'ing let alone give any apps root access
Dun have the option to disable auto update .... Superuser is in my Rom ... Not installed from market.
Should I uninstall in titanium and reinstall from market ?

If you have 3.0.5 built in, then yes you'd need to use TI. OR flash an earlier version from here:
http://goo-inside.me/superuser/
You have to use the one's with 'efgh' at the end

Hi,
Mine was in the ROM and I was able to look it up in the market and untick auto update.
If you UN install it, then install from market, you will have the bad update!
I wish I was at home.
I've got a flashable SU on my desktop.
Maybe you can wait till tonight when i get home...
DaDoctor responded in the coredroid thread that the superuser app update is borking a lot of roms and the current fix is to go to the app info on the market and uninstall the UPDATES and that should revert you to the prior version. Or you can titanium restore the prior version, that would work as well.
..
same thing with superuser.
problaby.. if i will run Root Explorer.. FC on rootex & superuser.
i am currently on 3.0.5
andy idea how to fix ??
Occasionally I've had problems with superuser also. Maybe an update gone bad or messing with whatever. It's maddening but actually the fix is so simple. Just re-install from recovery the file that you used to get superuser privaledges in the first place. "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip" It may fail (aborted) once, twice, hell, even took a fifth time before successful for me before but it will eventually work. It's that simple. Just re-superuser yourself with that file and all is well in the superuser world again.
I think I will stick with uninstalling updates from application .... When dc pops up again
Flashing in recovery poses a risk ... It's juz me

Hey,
EDIT!: I restored one of my backups with ROM Manager (Which still could restore ROMs? ) and i got my root access back! =)
Sorry if theres already a thread about this somewhere which Google haven't been able to find.
About a month ago i successfully rooted my phone using revolutionary. I tried out a few ROMs and ended up with MIUI 1.11.25, and suddenly i lost root access. Im not sure when this happened, it might have been when i updated from MIUI 1.11.18 to 1.11.25, which i did a couple of days ago,(I wiped dalvik cache and flashed with ROM Manager since the buildt in updater didn't work) or when i tried to update Busybox with an app from the market... :/
Weird thing is, Superuser runs perfectly normal, while almost every other root app i have tells me i need root access to use the application. I tried updating and installing the Su zip file (Binary?) and updating Superuser, but it didn't work .
Another weird detail is that root checker says "Congratulations! You have root access!" While ROM Manager can't run fix permission.
Should i reflash my ROM or a backup? Or is there some weird simple fix to this (Please!)?
Im not a wiz at rooting so if your able to, please put it in simple words
Thanks,
Mikkel

I already tried to look around in the apk and it's settings, but with no luck. As I said earlier superuser runs perfectly : /
Thanks tho
So I went through the instructions of getting root on the ICS leak and got some weird results. I flashed the superuser file once and got an error. I ran it a second time after reboot and made it further but still didn't complete. I ran it a third time without reboot and it completed and seems to be working.
What could have caused me to have to flash it 3 times in order for it to take? There shouldn't be any issues now that its there and working but my curiosity is peaked as to why it did it. Any thoughts?

From reading other posts that's not a unique experience. Not sure why it happens though.
that's just how it works; i had to flash twice, well once then fix permissions, then a second time and it worked.

I left that part out, after the initial try it didn't take I ran fix permissions, rebooted then flashed again with no luck. The third time was the charm though. So nobody that has experienced this has had any troubles with it? Its basically just a weird bug that crawled out from under the table just to disappear when you came back with something to kill it with... Damn things...
I had the same issue .

I used the same process to root and mine reboots and powers off fine.
I also had the failed install flashing Superuser.. ended up moving it to the internal storage and I didn't have it happen after that. Not sure if its just coincidence or not.
Everything else seems to be working great, Rom Manager just won't fix permissions. Having no button or force close issues.
System won't mount r/w in root explorer. Anybody else having this problem?

Nope, using ES File Explorer I turned on Up To Root, Root Explorer, and Mount system as writable and was able to create a file and delete it.
I've always had to flash the su zip numerous times before it took. Don't reboot recovery just keep trying. Ide say there is nothing to worry about since its happened from day one and I've never had any problems before. Still don't have any issues

These are the issues I'm currently having.
I ODIN'd ICS and CWM. Installed SU (3x) and Rom Mngr.
I no longer have Home button functionality, though I did on and off after flashing ICS.
Rom Mngr. throws errors when attempting to Fix Permissions and it won't.
Rom Mngr. throws erros about the Internet, messaging, etc has stopped working when first attempting to accomplish a task.
The Power menu consist only of Power Off & Restart. Restart freezes and requires a battery pull.
Factory Reset also freezes.
EDIT: After installing CWM via ODIN and then ROM Mngr., it wouldn't recognize that CWM was installed and prompted me to install it.
Constantly getting "shell has been granted superuser permissions" notification
Well, as the title says... Sometimes this notification starts to flash, it doesn't stop. I have to reboot to make it stop. The same problem has been reported on the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S III.
I'm using a Nexus S i9023 with stock Jelly Bean and SU 3.2 RC.
Example of other threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755738 & http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783292 & http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783642

I have the Galaxy Note and found this thread. I do have Better Battery Stats installed...
Thanks,

I believe it has something to do with that app or how that app is interacting with superuser.
I installed it the other day and that issue came up. Removed it and it went away. The cause of i dont know. I would take a look in the BBS thread and see if there are reports of it. If not make on
i never had any battery stats app, but it happened to me as well, it fixes after a reboot
check out all application that requires root
install a logcat app
I didn't install or update an app that requires root and I don't have better battery stats. It just started after I installed Jelly Bean and reflashed the latest su.
i can confirm none of the root requiring third party apps caused the problem

For me the culprit was 'Root Browser Lite'. Froze it with Titanium Backup and problem solved.
It happened again. Now with stable superuser 3.1.3 and still with Android 4.1.1. I added the logcat as an attachment.
You can see on the screenshot that it's repeating the same thing. It goes really fast so I can't scroll back to where it started.
Do you see anything interesting in the superuser log? For me it just showed shell repeatedly, but you never know. I pinned it down to a particular app more because it was something I hadn't installed before though!
Update superuser su binary, wipe its data. Try now. If not working you can reboot and wipe cache and fix permissions. That all will definetly do the trick.

I also get this at least once a day. Very annoying. Above measures didn't help for me. Superuser log shows only repeated shell entries.
And no battery stats apps installed, neither is Root Browser.
this was just happening to me, i rebooted my GNex, i don't have the S but same problem. reboot seemed to fix it

I don't have droid wall and the suggested fix didn't work. Please, stop telling me to uninstall apps, I also have this problem before I even install any app. There are tens of people having this problem. It's clearly a bug: superuser doesn't seem to be 100% compatible with Jelly Bean and chainsdd doesn't reply to my tweets. I'll try supersu when I have some spare time, but if that doesn't work either we're kinda stuck here.

Flash superuser rc2 again. I had that one time, i jest reflashed rom and all was good.
Sent from SpeedMachine i9023
whenever i try to load an app that requires root (95% of the apps ive tried) it freezes right when its granted. when i start titanium backup, the first screen where it says "asking for root rights..." just stays there even after it says it was granted. other apps that are granted root immediately just stay at a black screen. with lucky patcher, i can use it up to the point of where i apply changes (where root is required) but then it just keeps loading non-stop. the superuser app says they where all granted in the log, and there are no problems i know of there, but whenever root is granted to an app, that app freezes. (im not too good/experience with this) i couldnt find anything anywhere else that has this exact problem. (ps. i dont have a SIM card in yet, i use *#83786633 to get past setup screen on boot, if that means anything to this)
Hmm... Reboot? Reflash SuperSU/Superuser (depending on what setup you're using)?

Oh, that too, if you launch SuperSU it'll immediately ask to update binary if it's outdated. There have been several updates in the past couple of weeks too, so this may be your problem.

i have since fixed (kinda) this problem, i used odin and flashed lazarous kernel and tweaked 3.2. it didnt really "fix" it but got rid of the problem. but before, i had tried to use supersu, (i was on the regular superuser) but that too froze when it was granted root to update the binary.
regular superuser binary was up-to-date
