Hello guys,
I was just wondering if i could get android on my Samsung I8910HD phone which runs Symbian S60.I know that 99% that this aint possible but can i use symbian ROM flashing tool(it is nearly similar to odin) to flash android stock ROM while my phone is in recovery mode??? I've heard about nitdroid project in which they install android in Nokia N8 and some more phones. Note - Im just a 14 yr old noob indian(So pls forgive me if u think that this is a silly question. )

No silly questions
I don't think is a silly question and apparently it can be done. How hard have you searched? I don't own a Symbian, but I just did a quick search on the Net and a lot of hits came up...
Lots of YouTube videos. Do you want to change the OS or just install android apps? (That can also be done and it is easier).
Cheers,
No progress!!1
I've tried very hard in doing this(I've never actually tried on the phone cause it is not my phone it is my moms(I own a samsung galaxy y which is rooted and Running stock rom and CWM Recovery) and im afraid that i may Hard Brick her phone). And CyanChip I want to change the whole osand i dont want the apps only(I've heard about AlienDalvik). So any hints on how u can do this

OOps Srry CyanChip. AlienDalvik supports only iOS for now. It would be good if u could tell me how to install just the apps. Hoping that a DEV will make this possible.

First of all nitdroid project is for Maemo OS, Meego OS based or Nokia's old tablet OS based phones it was Nokia N9 not the N8 where they installed android, and the models which they (nitdroid) refer as N8xx are the Nokia N800 and Nokia N810.3
Second andoid can't be flashed on symbian OS devices.

Hi all,
Sorry 'bout the n00b question - but are there any of the custom ROM's out there which can be used for the Samsung Spica? I think my Spica is so darn slow, so really want to spice it up a little.
Just come off a SE Xperia X1, and used to flash it every other day - which I kinda miss on my Android device.
So - how is my outlook here?
Happy new year!
No one knows anything about this?

Not going to get much help here. After all this is a forum for HTC devices. AFAIK there is'nt a lot of custom ROm development for the spica apart from Leshak's ROM. you could google it.
Cheers
Try samdroid.net. There are active forums for samsung spica rooting, kernals and custom roms alongwith lots of tweaks and mods/
Hey
I have the following
Baseband version-i570EJXJC2
Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
build eclair jpjd7
Questions-
1. Which of these is the PDA or CSC etc
2. what should i do..i have jc2....I cant use spica jc3.ops
3.all i want is to root my phone and use app2sd since my phone memory is always full.
I cant use LESHAKS........... lk2 mod without being on lk mod i guess...also this firmware is what i got here in dubai. please help me root my phone...I am so confused with this firmware. only after i flash a good european firmware and root it can i use custom roms right?
AFAIK, the only stable and popular ROM, is the one from Leshack.... lets hope cyanogen releases something... i think both can take profit of each other's work and release something wonderful (froyo + multitouch + overclock + 3D driver.... etc...)
hi Experts,
i tried to find the answer from the forum, took me hours but no answer. That is why I am posting this thread.I want to root my HTC G1.But I don't want to use custom roms.On iphone when I jailbreaked my phone i did not go for another rom ,i used the same that came with it.My question is if I root my android device ,do I really need to install a new rom or I can use the same that came with it but will gain some power of having root.
sincerely,
ml
You don't need to but why not use a rom that has more features than stock.
Thanks for reply.I want to but afraid of make the device too slow.i can still remember when I upgraded ios 3.0.2 to ios4 on my iphone ,it was quiet annoying to use.I just want to root to move my apps to the sd card.
Installing a custom rom, normally, doesn't make your phone goes slow... but it gives it a HUGE boost and add features!!! And Android is not Ios 4...

You simply can't install a new android version of the original (Stock) Rom for your device unless your phone manufacturer gives the update for that particular device. But if your phone is rooted and bootloader is unlocked, you could search for custom roms for you device which could be flashed to your device use clockworkmod or by any specic flashing software for your device

so in order to get a higher version of android the carrier you have has to accept a update from the oem (Original equipment manufacturer) or you can root it and get a custom rom which is pretty much the same thing only its less professional and opens source so people can do whatever they want with it. i found a guide on xda on how to root it and get a custom recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2215966

actually my phone is already rooted and im already using teamburst rom.. and there is no other rom around there so what iwanted actually is to maybe install or developed a kitkat for my device cause it says that kitkat can run smooth even at a low spec phone like mine. .anyway as for the update from my phone manufacturer it seem it will never gonna happen they seem dont care about any of that , what important to them is to sell the phone and that is that.. most people here seem dont mind that but i do. .i know the answer to my question i know also what to do. .i just dont have the resources for now. .a lot of people use the same phone as mine that looking for the same answer as i do if only we could unite to do this project. .but maybe they just buy new device

i think theres a HP tablet that officially lets you dual boot android or windows 8 on it, if you want linux and ubuntu instead i would get a nexus 7, im not sure if the 2013 model has any linux or ubuntu roms but you can check, the 2012 model is PERFECT enough anyway and i know they have unbuntu and maybe linux roms, you could find one for cheap on swappa.

i dont think the tab z2 has an Ubuntu rom yet, i see that the first one might have one though, the z2 has quiet better specs but since you want to multiboot i would still recommend the nexus 7 its not compatibility issues ( some might) so you could build unbtunu touch for the xperia tab z2 if you wanted.

Hmmm i see
Possibly a stupid question. By possibly I mean probably.
Ascend Mate 7. Or any similar android device. Would it be possible to flash it with a version of W10 Mobile? I realize the bootloader probably is the limiting factor, but as a "hardcore" Windows Phone guy, I have to ask, as I love the specs of the Ascend Mates.
Thanks.
Dave
P.S.. I HAVE been searching for this for a while & Microsoft HAS done this via a custom ROM ... see Xiaomi Mi4.
And before all you haters hate, here's some bait:
Windows Phones are Better.
If it was possible we would have more than just an an old kitkat Cyanogenmod and a Kangvip rom..
