Then extract the zip file and try coping the system folder using the file explorer. Should work then. I did not find any difference after applying the patches. (I don't know if root explorer will allow you to copy the files to system folder. I use ES File explorer and have mounted the / as read write, and i can copy/remove my system files just like normal files)

Hello. I did install both patchs, and found the following:
BeatsAudio: does nothing. I see nothing new, period. And also read about it here here and it seems it really does nothing but EQ.
Sony Bravia Engine: The same. It does nothing, at least I can see.
So now I have some space less in my /system folder and I don't know how to have it back...

you should have made a backup before installing. I do not the exact files which you can remove to get your space back.

so ,actually nothing change ?????

What could you possibly expect honestly? Surround sound out of headphones?!!?!
It's just a marketing thing and nothing more. If you want quality sound, get an Apple product, like an iPod. You can never, ever, ever, get anything good out of companies that produce 10 phones a year; it would be too expensive for them.

I should have explained better.
I though that with BeatsAudio, some kind of new option could appear somewhere in sound settings. Some thing like "bass boost" or "sound interpolation" or something.
Also, not all software codecs are programmed the same way. Some have better implementation. Maybe it could add FLAC support to the system...
That's what I meant with 'it does nothing'. You see NO difference at all. I don't have a Beats Audio headphones so I can't tell if there is sound difference with them.
Also, I can't tell the difference with Bravia Engine files put on. There is a step missing here about modifying the build.prop file in /system so some kind of Bravia Engine Service could start. I did it but the same: no difference...
On another hand, and I updated a post about it, I think that the camera could be improved. The HTC Desire Z seems to use the same camera module that ChaCha uses, and it records 720p video. Maybe it someone get the libs, the camera app and the bin firmware file from it, and put it on a ChaCha, it could do the same...

how about trying with a custom rom on chacha?
also my chacha is unlocked n rooted n has clockworkmod installed, but s-on, can i install custom roms?
thirdly if im not wrong htc chacha n htc desire have same graphic chip, still chacha cant play games tht desire can, any way to make them work??
thanks alot!

[FIX] Inspire 4G Audio Fix (For use with DesireHD ROMs) !!

DISCLAIMER: It is now 5AM and I've had about 8 hours of sleep over the past 48 hours so I might be imagining things. I'm pretty sure there is a difference in audio quality, but without 2 phones side by side, it's hard to compare
Instructions:
1) Flash any DesireHD ROM, your choice!
2) Flash the attached zip file with CWM (it includes the Inspire 4G kernel)
3) Install the attached PropEditor apk, and run it.
4) Open build.prop using PropEditor and change
Code:
htc.audio.hac.enable=0
to
Code:
htc.audio.hac.enable=1
5) Hit the menu button and save! REBOOT!! win?
Let me know how it goes! I do hope I'm not going crazy
I'll update tomorrow with what exactly I did. Too tired to type it out now, GOODNIGHT.
THE DIFFERENT VERSIONS:
-V2: Better quality than V3, speakerphone microphone does not work
-V3-test: Slightly worse quality than V2, better than no sound fix, speakerphone microphone works 100%
palletguru said:
Went back to audio V2. I can personally attest to the fact that the sound is as good as stock - did a side by side with coworker's non routed inspire.

CHANGELOG:
V3-test: Removed extra files, sound quality is around the same (or slightly worse) compared to V2. Speakerphone Mic should work
V2: Removed AIC3254_REG_DualMic_MCLK.csv and AIC3254_REG_DualMic.csv as suggested by BelacNongaw to fix mic
Testing her now, thanks!!
Btw, which DHD Roms have you tested using this fix?
I'll report back after testing it (Core Droid DHD)

Hey whats up man...I know this might be asking a lot is there a way to a make a video about this? But no rush on it bro.. Cause you have been busy with this stuff
Although still not perfect, its 10x better than before with the telus. Unless I forgot the quality of stock which could be possible. But there is definitely a huge difference, to the point that I'm not going back to telus. Good work! Plus, the stock source kernel is being used which is always the best for stability eventhough telus didn't cause any stability problems.

Well I'd have to compare the stock build.prop to the DHD one that people have installed, but there are these values in the DHD one:
ro.ril.enable.dtm = 1
ro.ril.gprsclass = 12
ro.ril.hsdpa.category = 10
ro.ril.hsupa.category = 6
ro.ril.hsxpa = 3
Guessing one of those is changed in the stock. Will check later
EDIT: Just pulled the build.prop off my unrooted phone and they look the same... odd
failed to remount system rw
I keep getting an error when trying to save build.prop after editing. "failed to remount system rw". I tried creating a backup and editing that then restoring it but got the same error. Am I missing something simple?...lol...thanks
I've been working on this too. Remove AIC3254_REG_DualMic_MCLK.csv and AIC3254_REG_DualMic.csv from /system/etc/ in the zip and this will work without breaking the mic. Good job.

Another way to edit build.prop is
Reboot into recovery
Under mounts and partitions mount system
On the computer:
adb pull /system/build.prop
Edit build.prop
adb push build.prop /system/build.prop

does the sound now work on both ends? can you hear who you are talking to and can they hear you?
If the OP removes the two files from the zip that I mentioned in my post, yes. Until then, you can browse the zip with astro on the phone and delete them yourself before flashing.
so do I need to remove those two files from the zip? Im just about to flash a new rom and this kernel and then edit.

Yes, or you won't have a working mic.
did i do it wrong?
I'm unable to save, so i save it to sdcard then move the file to /system
I did not remove anything.
I leave myself a voicemail, I can hear myself just fine!

[Q] Boot time of custom rom is too long!

Hey guys, I ported the ICS rom for P500 by arjen to my P690 using dsixda's kitchen(porting tools). As you may already know, these 2 phones have more or less EVERYTHING in same except the processor speed. The latter has 800MHz while the former has 600MHz. You can hardly find a difference even in the folders within the /system directory. Anyways, I edited the updater-script, build.prop and successfully compiled the rom. As usual I tried flashing it through CWM. The installation starts perfectly. The problem now is that it won't get past the boot animation no matter how long I wait(20-25mins to be precise!) I finally had to remove the battery, get back into CWM and restore the backup. What exactly might be the problem here?

I'm sure you wiped everything there data/Dalvik-cache/cache
if this is not to solve the problem say this rom is in beta and you have to deeply dig into that problem :cyclops:
Of course!! I've done all tht. I even changed d cm9 bootanimation, tried the stock bootanimation and even disabled it. Got the same result in all cases, either the bootanimation does not end or there's a blank screen(when animation is turned off). This time I tried it for 45mins!! I just don't understand what to do!!

this is enough 5-10 mins to wait for
that kitchen is good only to get root and put things together then sign zipped ROM -support for porting is somewhat "experimental":cyclops:
you should start from compiling sources replace drivers previously make dif to see how much these devices are different and of course compile kernel with debug options
also don't expect to finish this in 2-3 days.
Actually there's a cm9 rom meant for the p690 but its got many bugs like camera, bluetooth, etc. The developer who's working on it doesn't have the money to buy the phone so he's stopped developing. I'm quite new to developing, so I don't have that much of an idea on fixing it.
He says the problem in the case of the camera is with the lib and he's fixing it by replacing the lib files and editing on source. What does this actually mean? Could you explain? Also are there any guide or links where I can learn these things in depth??

pls do not blame me for this
-you need 1-2 years of experience working in C language
-then you will just stop asking
-usually you need a team
-if devices are almost the same in hardware this is a little easyer maybe your case ?! if devices are almost the same in hardware be sure about that make diff in sources to be sure... now it's starting the hard part
-this is a "developer project" and for a long while !
-just search.. take a look here

[MOD][May 24th]NFC while Screen Off/Locked 1.0[Sammy]

Introduction
Hey guys
Last night I got my new NFC tags and, of course, went ahead and configured one for my car. What it does is irrelevant (turns on Bluetooth and 3G, turns off Wi-Fi when I get into the car, and turns off Bluetooth and GPS when I leave it), but what's important is that I was absolutely sure I could use it when the screen is off or even unlocked.
It was a bit of annoying to turn on the phone and unlock the display to use an NFC tag, when the entire purpose of a tag (in my view) is to let me do stuff without touching the display!
I found a few apks, but all of which were reported to make NFC FC/crash or not work at all. The suggested solution based on the Xposed framework was unavailable due to site problems, so i decided to see how difficult it is to implement one on my own...
What is this mod?
This mod, as you might have guessed already, simply lets you use an NFC tag when the screen is off or locked.
Installation
Very simple indeed:
Download the included Nfc.apk file,
Do a nandroid backup (backuping your current Nfc.apk (located at /system/app/Nfc.apk) to someplace safe should suffice, but a nandroid is still recommended),
Copy the included Nfc.apk to /system/app/Nfc.apk,
Change permissions to 'rw-r--r--' ('chmod g-w', 'chmod 644' or your favorite file explorer),
Reboot.

Version 1.0:
First release!

I am not responsible for any nuclear wars that may result from downloading and installing this Nfc.apk, nor am I responsible for your device breaking, bricking, rebooting, data loss, etc.
About making this mod (and credits)
It was actually surprisingly easy. Figuring how to decompile the APK into a smali (using APK Multi-Tool), and where to go (Geniusdog254's explanation was simple but excellent) was quite easy, and from there it was the road to success.
Also, looking at the relevant code was very helpful (although Samsung added some extra checks, the original code to delete was still very much there).
I also made sure to delete only NFC-C related code, and not to touch anything else (including NFC-EE and SMX, UICC, CardMode, etc).
Do note I am using a DMB6-based ROM (Phoenix v10), but I compared the decompilation output of DME1 and the entire code is identical, so it should be safe to install on any DMB6-and-newer ROMs.
Also, this should only be used on a deodexed ROM.
Enjoy!
making life easier, a flashable zip.
as always, its never wrong to make backup before flashing
enjoy
thank you OP for providing us this mod.. THANKS~~!!

Apologies, I never meant it to run a stock ROMs...
Give me some time to see if I can make it work on stock
No problem, If it is made for deodexed rom only then it would be better if you can edit title/OP

Good idea (didn't even think about it... ), but let me see if I can make it for odexed roms as well beforehand.
It is my first mod ever so bare with me

Just send me apk with this process
Reodexed your existing rom - deodexed again
Will check it, i have seen sometimes this works.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
As you might have known, the APK you sent me doesn't contain the actual code (the dex files).
I downloaded a stock odexed MC3 ROM and saw that the code is pretty much the same (didn't make sure), but it would not be possible to make an MC3-compatible odex file from my ROM (which is ME1).
Also, afaik, the odex file also contain other stuff (like dependencies and such), so I wouldn't try replacing the .odex file without re-odexing the entire ROM. Even after replacing the .odex file, I think matching files in /data also need to be replaced, and I read someplace that doing nasty woodoo like this might cause bootloops...
Is there anyone here who's running MC3 ROMs and willing to re-oxed it to its entirety and try this?
I'm getting ready to give this a try on Beans 17. Will let you know the results and shower you with thanks if it works.
UPDATE: You are officially my hero. Works like a charm.
Just ran it on beans 17 and it also works for me.
I'm curious to know how this will affect battery life.
Thanks for this great mod.
Is there any other chance to wake screen with NFC than tasker since secure settings and simplistic framework won't work with each other?
I tried installing it on my Droid razr maxx HD. No luck though . The NFC option disappears from the system settings.
EDIT: I'm retarded. It's probably because this is only modded for Galaxy Note II.
Just letting everyone this also works for AT&T Galaxy Note II LTE.
Awesome!!!!!!

A bit of shame not working on Akop rom. I liked your idea. Can I post the nfc from Akop if that can help?
Does this work for Verizon note 2?
Has anyone tried this on Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300 international).
Nearly forgot - I'm running OmegaRom 46.1 (4.2.2)
I want it for exactly the same reasons - nfc tag in car to switch on BT, sync with stereo and launch BeyondPod playlist without having to unlock.
This shouldn't work
Though send me framework-res.apk, twframework-res.apk and Nfc.apk (deodexed)
will look to it.
Hi,
what could be for reasons that the modified NFC-Version on my SG Note 2 LTE (German) does not work?
Does anyone have any advice?

Latest (Lollipop, Marshmallow on a locked bootloader is not rootable yet) Software Rooted Image (as of 5th of June, 2016) [15e rootedsystem image (credits to: user kevin3688)]
(I'm so sorry if I let anyone out, if I forgot to credit someone, please reply and I'll add him/her)
TL;DR, here's the guide:
1. (If you haven't already) Flash this image (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0UblGbOPFYBT2RERDZKcUhqcnM/view) on your phone, with this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/lg-h959-v15a-rooted-andriod-5-1-1-t3178517). Note that that flash command works for the 15e image. Now you have the latest software version.
2. Download and Install (on your phone) FlashFire, from the google store (yes, from the google store, not the old 0.24 version).
3. Download and install Stericon's busybox from the play store.
4. Download XposedInstaller.apk into your phone and also download the zip file (the one you'll flash with FlashFire), which has to be from sdk22 (that's for android 5.1.1) and from arm64 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811). Make sure to download the latest one. Now open Flashfire and flash the zip file (+ button, tap on flash zip or ota, select the zip file to the downloaded location, and uncheck mount read/write, then tap on flash). Afterwards, install the downloaded XposedInstaller.apk on your phone and open it. You are now able to use Xposed, which is a unique framework that allows you to download modules, which are "apps" that can change your phone in a lot of ways, way more than a regular app, I think. To install modules, open the XposedInstaller and... you'll figure it out.
5. Downgrade your flashfire app into the 0.24 version, by uninstalling it and installing this version instead (http://flashfireapk.com/flashfire-0.24.apk).
6. Flash the mod (same thing as before, but now there's only the auto-mount option, don't check it) provided by this thread, look for the h959 link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/development/dec-21-stock-lollipop-flex-2-ls996-t3275531). Download it (on your phone) and flash it with FlashFire (it might take a while). Now you should have a slightly better screen, G4 design changes and other tweaks to your phone.
7. Uninstall flashfire 0.24 and install the version from the google store again.
8. Download the Dolby Atmos zip file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-dolby-atmos-t3109446) and flash it with FlashFire (same thing as before, now there are more options again, uncheck mount read/write again). You should now have a dolby atmos app on your app drawer, it uses an intelligent equalizer and other cool stuff to make your audio sound better. Tweak it to your liking.
9. Download the zip file "ViperAtmos x (x represents the latest version, 5.5 as of now) sony beats edition" (link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/viperaudio-viperatmos-3-8-sq-driver-t3289075) (that "sony beats edition" is not completely necessary, so if in a future version it's not there anymore, don't worry about it). But don't flash it. Instead, copy the content of that zip file to your root folder (mount the folder as read/write with your file explorer and overwrite what's already there) (the lowest/highest folder on your phone, it's not accessible via pc, only via a root browser). The folder can also be called "system(root)" or a hashtag or just "/", don't confuse it with the folder named root that is inside "/" or the folder "system" that is also inside "/". If any files couldn't be placed, like for example audio_effects.conf, try finding that file (it's in "vendor/ect", "system/etc" and "system/vendor/etc") and mount that file read/write, now try copying and pasting again, if it doesn't work again try rebooting and trying again. Open the V4A (V4A stands for Viper4Android) app, it may say to install drivers or it might be already installed, if it says install drivers tap on ok. It will say drivers are installed, so reboot.
10. Download and install SE Linux Mode Changer (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524485), give it root permission and change the mode to permissive. Now Viper4Android and Dolby Atmos should be working together. Viper4Android is an audio tweaking tool that enhances your listening experience, and gives you a range of customization to do so. Tweak it to your liking.
11. Download the following file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3566699&d=1449390187 (delete the mixer_paths from that zip file). Also download the mixer_paths file from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/development/surround-mode-h955-t3376881), look for the latest post of the user "soosoolhastam" on that thread, the one where he uploaded his modification of the mixer_paths file. Also download the thermal-engine-8994 file from Probaina here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/thermal-throttling-hotplug-settings-t3106165), it's in a reply he made to his own thread, it's on the first page. Now that all those files are on your phone, use a root text editor (the only one that worked for me is the app QuickEdit) to copy the content of all those files, and replace the content from the files (with the same name) on the folder /etc. Don't replace the files, since that "broke" my phone, just replace the text content of those files with the content of the files you downloaded, that have the same name. Now you have unlocked 60fps on your camera, your photos are now all stored with 100% quality, your audio has a higher volume and it's more surround, and your phone should heat up less.
12. Download the file "init.qcom.post_boot_xxxxxx.zip" (again, the Xs represent whatever the latest version is, choose the biggest number, not the "original" version) from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/tweak-interactive-governor-lag-battery-t3371210). Extract the file and navigate to the folder GhostPepperVx (x=latest version) (you can choose from the other folders if you want, they have different cpu governors, if you want to try another one) then copy the file "init.qcom.post_boot" inside that folder into system/etc. Make sure your phone is not overheated (since that changes things).
13.Wipe dalvik cache with flash fire to cleanup your phone after all the flashes and stuff. There. Now your phone should be better in every way!
so, i preciate all your work...really, this thread will help a lot of people, this AIO is really exelent, conglats!

Sorry mate, but at least flashing the h959 rooted image won't work, certainly. And I'm not sure how the installation would go in your model. I'm really sorry, I wish I could help.

The G4 mod changes a lot of things, some things I didn't even like, like the phone dialer and the contacts design, but I'm keeping it because of the rest of the things that come with the mod. I'll list the things I noticed until now: changes (very minor) to the little menu that pops up when you slide down, it adds a button (an engine icon) to access settings faster (was it already there?), and by its side there's a button that redirects you to a menu where you can change "users", not quite sure how that works, the default calling app is completely changed, I think the design changes are from G4. When you insert headphones/usb a little menu pops up, I just checked and apparently it's a feature called "plug and pop apps", one of the apps that is shown by default is the music app. The mod adds a new app to the menu drawer, called "QTheater", not sure what it does yet. Clock app looks unchanged, gallery app has a new icon, but aside from that nothing's changed there. Quickmemo+ seems also unchanged. Music app is... A little different. Kinda uglier, in my opinion, really. Calculator's the same. Camera app is the same. OOH! Never mind, gallery app is so much better, I really can't describe well what I'm seeing here, you'll have to try it out for yourself. Calendar app just changed to color of the (orange or red?) on it to a more orange one. Email app is the same (who uses that app?). Tasks app is the same. Weather app is also the same. Voice recorder is the same. Dunno if Voice Mate app is changed, never paid attention to it. Update center app is the same. Settings app has a dramatic design change. A bunch of new features on the settings app, including a setting for the phone to read messages out loud. Holy moly so many new features in the settings app. I think that's it. Until now I haven't noticed any other differences until now. You can install a module for Xposed to get more g4 tweaks, including the option to record your calls! Sorry if I missed anything.
can it be removed/uninstalled if we do not like it?

I'm not sure but I think so. But I am sure you can always re-flash the 15e image (that'll erase all the mods, and don't worry, it won't erase any of your data, only the mods), and you can follow the guide without installing the mods you don't like, like the g4 tweaks mod.

[SysDump / WIP Rom] LG Aristo MPCS 4/8/17

Currently here is the system dump. Working on kernel first just not what I normally do so it's playing with me lol.
First off this is built off the LG Aristo LGMS210 from Metro PCS.
This is going to stay as a stock base NOT ASOP.
OTAs are always last. It's nice to have a good strong base then update as needed so it won't have security patches from the OTAs 10min after the release. Right now I did not update before doing a system dump.
The system dumps or roms can be used by others just please give credit. If someone makes a kernel give them credit also please after asking them.

This is just a spare just in case I get board now to clean this up
Thank you!
Glad to see this device get some attention, it's a decent phone and we already have root, twrp, and nougat. Just missing tweaks here and there.
Im just having kernel issues hoping someone can get us a custom one. So far I have deleted a bunch copied pixel launcher and this thing is amazing now. Even going to make a car puter version on this phone.
Works but looks bad but got Samsung Gear VR working on this thing. Lol. Once we get another kernel we can get that flashed on everyones phone not doing my way.
How can I make this system dump a usable rom?
Umm you can't it's for another device to. Really install pixel launcher. Make a system backup. Copy pixel launcher folder from data app to system priv app not delete all the launchers and apps I can post what I have then you factory reset your phone then once booted you will have pixel launcher and the feel of how my phone will feel till I can get a kernel and flash that way.
So it just adds the pixel launcher as a system app?
I goofed
Is there anyway you could upload just the mixer_paths.xml file located in system/ect by chance? Went to go try to increase headphone volume and sneezed and fubard the file somehow.... Now i have no sound at all on anything amdthe phone dont even detect headphones. Id download the dump/or rom but my internet speeds are just too darn slow to get at 960 mb file. *metro slows it down below 20k a second*
Install pixel launcher and anyother app you need when you do a factory reset it will let you boot just fine.
