[Q] LiveID problem (can't link credit card) - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So when i was getting my WP, Omnia 7, marketplace was not available in my country, Croatia. So i created a dummy hotmail account registered to UK, just so that i am able to access the free marketplace.
Now that marketplace has expanded, I did the hard reset and entered my real, croatian liveID as my main phone account. Only to find out when i wanted to enter my credit card, "United states" region was locked there!
After some investigation, i found that, for whatever reason (probably fault of hotmail's extraordinarily weird login system) i created my xbox live FREE account using the croatian liveID, and again, for whatever reason, my region was set to US and can not be changed.
not just that, but the xbox live account can not be deleted or moved to another liveID.
Except through xbox console. Which I do not own.
What can i do about this. if anything?

Find a friend with an Xbox 360? Yeah, I'm sorry man, it *should* be possible without a console but I can't find a way. Which is dumb, because the issue also applies to Zune players and such, but all the instructions that I can find said you had to use a console.

I had no idea where to look for a friend with an xbox, xbox never took off where i live. But this guy on theverge forums offered to do it. So i'll probably send my login info to him, no matter how unsecure and stupid that looks (i'm despreate).

So to anyone that might care (if anyone), it would seem this can not be solved.
The guy tried to move the xbox account to another liveID, including a new croatian and new US one, but he got an error message saying that the xbox account is newer than 30 days. Which is not true, since it's older than a year.
That's it. Good thing that i windowbreaked. If they don't want my business, so be it.

Quick few noob questions about WP7

I have just been, with a HD7 and thinking about switching to it from my iphone as i fed up of having to jailbreak it to get it to have all the features I want to have. I just have a few quick questions:
1. If their an aggregated notifications tile/tray? I notice that notifications appear at the top of the screen but is their any way of accessing them from anywhere, i am thinking of a similar sort of thing as andriod, as i noticed that not all information is shown on the tiles such as more than one calendar appointment
2. Are their any good task apps in marketplace, I need one that syncs with toodledo this is the most important thing and the tile shows the upcoming apps and if possible to show up on the lock screen
3. Can you also get more than one calendar appointment to show up on the lock screen, e.g. if you have 2 appointments in the same day at different times will they show up?
Thanks very much for everyones help in advance
James
1. i don't believe there is one at present no.
2. there are a few good market place tasks, but i don't believe any of them have live tile support. live tiles work by pulling their data off the net, not locally (though it would be a good idea i reckon to have the ability to have a live tile pull information from within the app). calandar is probably the closest thing to this, but i don't think you want to put everything in there.
3. at present, no. the lock screen and live tile will only show 1 calendar event (the next to come).
pretty much all platforms have their limits, and whilst i like wp7 how it is, i think they should provide quite a higher level of customisability to some of the aspects of it.
Can somebody explain to me how can I use Marketplace in Poland?
I mean how should I register my Credit Card to have access to the content?

no idea.. but here in the US it defaults to billing to carrier unless you have an associated credit card on the billing.microsoft.com, however it appears ms recently changed being able to login to billing.microsoft.com directly so i can change my credit cards by going through xbox.com billing.. but not sure if that helps in Poland where xbox live may not be an option
Downloading free apps is just great....
There is a tip with the address corresponding to Credit Card....

I haven't been able to charge any apps to my carrier. Not sure if its because I had a cc already on file with the marketplace from my hd2 or what.

Marketplace CC Working (Non Supported Country)

I've posted this in the following thread where I got the idea with the help of Loki1973:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830701&page=19
But I think after 180 posts. People stopped reading and gave up hope. So here it is:
Alright. Got a bit to talk about here that might be of interest to some of you.
My Info:
WP7 Live Account: BS USA Account
Credit Card: Middle East 5 Number ZIP Code
Real Live Account: Canadian
First Thing I Tried / WP7 Live Account:
At first, I used the method in the linked thread above (registered my credit card from the phone browser) and that just worked for me. Used my real ZIP code and put my Canadian address and phone number. Picked up OMG as it's the cheapest thing I could find just to confirm. It's the Deal of the Week.
To test this thing even further, I launched Zune on my PC and went for a 14 Day Zune Pass Trial. Asked for credit card, then prompted the one I just added, or the option to add another one. So went for the added one, and all is well. Downloading 314 songs as I type this.
So all is well and I'm able to buy whatever I want with my fake USA account.
PERSONAL PROBLEM
1. I have a real Canadian account, that's where my MSN is, that's where my email is, that's where my calendar is.
2. I'm an organization psycho.
3. I don't want to rebuy every damn game/application that I bought with my fake US account if I ever get to using my Canadian account. I mean the only reason I'm not using it is cause of the damn billing limitation of zip codes.
SOLUTION
On my phone. I went to buy another game. Selected a game. Clicked on BUY.
"Change payment method"
"Add a credit card"
It took me to that billing page where I added the other credit card just hours ago.
I copied the URL, emailed it to myself.
Got on my laptop, put the URL in my browser (thought, what the hell).
Page loaded up just fine.
Important part. BILLING COUNTRY: USA
Added the card used earlier and all is well.
Went to billing.microsoft.com and my card is there.
So I believe it takes the billing country of what you have set on your phone and works the URL that way.
Anyways, now have successfully added my Middle East credit card with USA ZIP code to my CANADIAN Live ID.
Get it while it's hot
PROBLEM
1.99 U.S. dollars = 1.93468729 Canadian dollars
So I don't know why the HELL it has it listed as $2.50CAD. Complete BS.
No Zune Pass (Music Service) in Canada

the missing xap/application

this has happened before on my hd7 and i would hard reset it, and now its happened to my titan, my at&t wireless account app has disappeared after i updated it from the marketplace, it does not show up in my hub list, yet when I go to the market to reinstall it all it does is say "share" meaning that i already have it installed but it isnt visible for me to access.
does anyone know how to bring back this ghost application to my hub list?
I have a similar problem on my Mozart too, I installed a .XAP game (please don't stake me), but it didn't appear anywhere on my phone. Now it's taking up space and the marketplace says I already have it installed on my device. I also tried redeploying the .xap. It installs and everything's fine, but I still can't find it anywhere.
Oh em gee I found my app, it was renamed myAT&T , no longer under the As but under the Ms durrrr!
Sent from my TITAN X310e using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I'm still having the problem, can't find them anywhere.
You know, I'd be way more inclined to help you if you'd just bothered to actually pay for the game. Piracy is pretty much a forbidden subject here on XDA, and you're not going to get much respect if you come here asking for help with it.
I'd bother paying for the games if I actually could you know, but since there's no Zune Marketplace in my country I can't. Piracy isn't the reason I'm coming here for help. It's just a .xap problem that could be from an application from any source.
I thought you said you were able to check the marketplace, and it said it was already installed? I know there used to be countries where WP7 was available but Marketplace wasn't, but I thought that got fixed with Mango.
Argh.. I'll give you the benefit of a doubt and hope you're more legit than you sound ("don't stake me"? Really?). Check the Xbox Live app, otherwise known as the Games hub. I keep mine pinned to my Start screen for easy access.
I can use the marketplace, just when it comes to billing for my UK account it requires a UK credit card and I don't have a thing like that. Virtual credit cards and etc. don't work. Anyways. It's nowhere to be found in the games hub or the applications. If I try to download the trial it gets halfway and says 'Attention required' with error code 8103010d, which, according to Microsoft's forums hasn't been resolved yet. I don't want to have it as much as I want to delete it right now.

(TUT) HOW TO use google music outside US (post-beta version)

So...I see a lot of people saying/complaining they can't use Google Music because they are outside of the US.
There are tons of tutorials out there on how to get it in the beta stage (via invite) but since the launch today, those don't work as efficiently because the invites are gone.
Here is how I got it to work for someone else tonight...I am sharing it with everyone so hopefully it'll help some people out (sticky if someone asks?)
Some of these steps will look similar to the beta version for this...but this is the only way I could SPECIFICALLY get it to work (other proxies/methods seem to not be reliable)
Step 1:
Download Tor Browser (https://www.torproject.org/index.html.en)
Step 2:
After extraction...click "Start Tor Browser.exe"...give it a few seconds while it properly connects to a proxy and such. It should automatically connect to a US proxy (go to whatismyipaddress.com to check where it has connected. If it hasn't, you can disconnect and try again OR change the settings so that it does connect to a US proxy (a number of guides are online on how to do this)
Step 3:
go to google.music.com ...and sign in with your regular account. Click accept on any terms and service and acknowledge that you are going to a secure site (or something to that nature). You will get a few errors after you sign in since the browser limits a lot of executions from websites. On the main google music page, just click on the "S" with the dash through it on the lower left hand side (under "playlists"...click on "ok" for the next pop up.
Step 4:
Click on "UPLOAD MUSIC"...then download the music manager. Install the music manager and just for brevity's sake, select a folder with very few songs in it to upload (so that you can get started right away)
Step 5:
Once it's done uploading, click on "home" under My Library and voilĂ ..your songs should be there. After this, you NEVER need the Tor browser again...any time you log in to music.google.com, it should work on your regular browser because it acknowledges you uploaded songs...but if you click on "shop" to shop for some music, it will still block you because of the browser's limits...read on to get by that
OPTIONAL:
Download the google music apk (I've attached it to thise post) from these forums in order to sync with your device
NOW the fun part...getting to the Google Music store and getting some songs!
Step 6:
install hotspot shield. google it to find it...some people say this only half works for them as a VPN...but it's worked on every computer i've tried and is one of the few VPN's that will give you full functionality in a browser
Step 7:
connect to hotspot shield and use the browser of your choice (chrome, firefox, IE all work with my tests)
Step 8:
go to music.google.com...log into your account. Click on "shop". You will now be sent to the music area of the google market. Very fun.
Step 9:
This is the easiest way for the free songs...just go to any free song, click to buy it ("free" button)..and it'll ask you to log in a few times probably. It will then ask you for a credit card..put in a real credit card number (preferably yours) and whatever address you want. Just pick a US state and a valid zip code in that state (google whatever area you want). The address does not have to match the credit card for free songs. You are then given the option to complete your purchase...and then it goes through and syncs with your google music account automatically. Very sharp feature...Google is amazing.
Now the only caveat or thing you might be wondering..."what about songs that actually cost something?"...damn you for noticing the only thing i didn't cover!
The only way to bypass this is to buy, via online, a US visa or mastercard gift card that you can either reload or purchase once and throw away and then use that card to purchase the songs.
So there you go...a very nearly full functional use of google music....let me know what you think and if it's helped you out. Feel free to share the guide...but give reps my few hours of playing with proxies/tests to get it all working in one swoop. Thank you/gracias/merci
Edit: I've now attached the APK that some have requested..I know it was posted here and there...but at least this makes it a bit more of a "one stop shop" for the guide
I heard that it's coming to the European market soon.
Looks like a great guide, and I guess it works for some, but I'm sad to say it didn't for me. The moment i sign in to music.google.com it says "We're sorry. Google Music is currently only available in the United States" even though I'm going there in Tor. Tried with Hotspot Shield enabled too.
I am in Norway.
Thanks though
edit: Ah, the problem seems to be that Tor is using an UK proxy instead of an US one. How can I change this?
edit2: I did it! Followed this guide to make it only use US proxies: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/black-hat-seo-tools/8225-how-get-us-ip-addresses-tor.html
Thank you, great guide
Great guide....but waaay too mych hassle. Specially for paid music.
I'll just wait for the EU version
Shape up, Google!
Well, you need an american credit card to download the free songs, dang... :-/
Its an awesome thing...I absolutely praise such an exclusive launch of music beta by google. However, initially i found it really difficult to get it as it is only accessible from USA which i think is unjustified for the rest of the world. One of my friend told me about the vpn services. And after acquiring vpn services i am ablt to use google music outside usa
has anyone got the newest google music 4.9.00 apk syncing with the google servers outside of the usa?
somewall - the apk that is in this forum (in the same general category) works fine for me and others say that it has worked for them
andevin - thanks for the head's up...i'll make a note of it
for the credit card thing for the free songs...you do not necessarily need a US credit card.
I used mine (not an american credit card) and it worked fine...I just filled in the rest of the stuff...but for the city, i googled an american city (let's say...new york) and used that city, state, and zip code
when you go to purchase a song...it'll say "verifying" or "processing" and it'll purchase the free song regardless
to purchase actual songs that are not free, i will re-emphasize that you need a visa/mastercard gift credit card for it to work
hope this helps!
p.s. i now attached the google music APK to the original guide

Sorry but here in Brazil i could buy song with a standard international credit card (santander mastercard). The only stuff i have to bring up here is that it only worked when i was connect by hotspot shield. On normal connection it says not avaliable for my country, still.. even free or payed songs.

how did you enter the CC address information?
it only allows you to choose USA addresses
I didn't even bother with tor I just installed hotspotshield, went to music.google.com and registered, installed the uploader and now don't need proxy for general use.
Haven't tried registering my card details so can't say how that works.

I used US adress as well. Dont had any problem with it. But my credit card is not registred on US. Its has been acquire in Brazil, as international standard, so billing information is brazillian too, not american.
Great. Thanks for sharing!
Great guide, it worked for me and I'm in the Caribbean!! Many thanks.
any good free music worth getting?
i don't want to grab every single free song, else i'll hit the 20 000 max very soon, as my personal library is close to 15 000
i picked up most of the time limited POP, ROCK, LATIN, and some 80s/90s stuff, and some world, some instrumental...
BUG & "fix"
if you have 2 or more Google Music account like I do
the Google Music App will not let you switch to another account the easy way
the work around is to use Titanium Backup and Wipe Data for Google Music
or you can do uninstall / reinstall
then it will let you pick through the welcome wizard again which Google Account you want to use for Google Music
.
Thread moved to Android. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.
You sir, are a legend!
anyone who is having trouble changing to a US proxy.
check out this guide.
http://www.ghacks.net/2008/01/29/configure-tor-to-use-a-specific-country-as-an-exit-node/
Does anyone know why it's only available in the US? I wouldn't want to risk my Google account over getting it early. Also for those saying that it will be in the EU soon, I've seen no reliable source stating this; in fact I'm mainly reading that there's currently no time frame on release outside the US.
To get the free songs you do NOT need to enter any cc information. Songs get added to your google-account.
I don't think that you'll get problems with google. Google would like to sell songs through their store worldwide. just the drm's rights-holder making problems in lots of countries.
now we just need to get google to accept cc from all over the world. damn google, why didn't you just implement that feature.

[Q] Apps in defferent Marketplace regions

Hello.
I decided to give WP7 one more try. I tried it before Mango was relased. I live in Danmark and I noticed that there are not so many interesting apps in Danish Marketplace. So i wanted to ask if there are other apps in other Marketplace regions e.g. if i change the region to US will there be more avaible apps? If yes which Marketplace region has most apps?
Regards
okeyus
okeyus, that is just a matter of time. Same thing about the brazilian marketplace, which had nothing worthy when introduced but is now growing steadily.
In the meantime you can create a "foreign" Live ID, ie, another one which is set up to some other region, such as USA. You'll have to hard reset your phone to change your primary ID (the first ID set up on your phone controls which marketplace you'll access). After that you can add your main ID to retrieve your contacts, email, etc.
The only drawback with this method is that you can't buy anything - the country is pre-selected whenever you're going to add your credit card details and can't be changed; if you proceed, the purchase will fail because the card info won't match. You can, however, download any free or trial apps you want.
I know that. I have an US account which I created when I installed WP7 for the first time. But now i wanted to check how does Marketplace looks in Danmark and i didn't know if it's worth to switch to the US region again. I installed some apps, customized WP7 and just didn't wanted to do it again if Marketplace would be the same for US as for DK. So you are saying that at this moment there are most apps in the US Marketplace?
The other drawback is that I will not be able to use Messenger in the Messaging tab if i chose my US account. I read that the included Messenger in the Messaging tab is only for your main account. So if i have my MSN on my Danish account and I will use US account as primary one I will not be able to use that MSN tab from Danish account. (Pretty confusing but i didn't know how to explain that)
You can download an app called "Local Market Search", which will let you see the apps in other marketplaces. You won't, however, be able to download an app which is not available for your current marketplace.
The US marketplace was the first one so, yes, I believe it is the one that has the most apps. However, that is just a matter of time, as I believe there is no incentive for a developer to not sell their apps on more marketplaces.
Just did it and i must say that I'm impressed. There are a lot more apps. Im gonna stay on WP7 now. I didn't knew that there is so big difference between WP7 and WP7 Mango. It's just so much better and more user friendly now. I'm very impressed.
Anyway big thanks for the advice!
I'm not sure... Have you updated to Mango or not? If not, then you should immediately or as soon as possible Lots of new features. Plus there's another update in the works (Tango, I believe). It'll get better every time.
Yes, I am on Mango. That's what i said. I have tried WP7 before Mango was relased and i didn't liked it. But now with all the Mango features it's just awesome and fits me perfectly. That's why i said that I will stay on Mango. But i like games from Android and have only 4GB card so i just ordered 16GB class 10 card so I can use WP7 daily and Android with lots of games when i need it
